Publish error unknown message

OK, usually if you know what the problem is you can fix it! But this prompt (Publish error unknown) isn't giving me much in the way of info to fix my problem.
This has happened since the latest security download too.
Anybody else with the same error?

I've got the same problem. it started while on vacation in Ireland and thought it was the hookup i was using, but I tried at it again during a stop over on the Mainland and again once I got home in Hawaii. I still get the same unknown error message and all my picture folders are red now where before it was just the ones I had edited. Does anyone know if there is a limit on how many pictures you can have ? I know you can't upload to iWeb more than 99 photos, but what about the whole system and How do you check to see if you exceeded it. ?

Publish Error: Unknown Error -- corrupt page?

Hi, everybody --
I publish locally because I'm still building my site & am not ready to go live yet. This morning, I made some more changes to my site & when I published, I got the "Publish Error: Unknown Error" message.
Via some experimenting, I found that the problem is with one specific page - the publishing always stops with that page. If I move it to the bottom of the left-hand list of pages, the site will publish fine until it gets to that page.
Obviously, there's something wrong with that page.
Before I delete that page & re-create it, does anybody have any ideas as to what might be wrong with it?
Things I've already tried:
*) deleting the .plist file from my iWeb preferences folder
*) deleting the iWeb folder from Caches
*) moving the Domain file to the desktop, creating a new test site in iWeb, deleting the new Domain file & moving the original one back in
*) Rebooting
Any other ideas?

Hello Michelle,
Good troubleshooting.
If you can publish fine with all the other pages but not with that page in the mix then I think you are on the right path, it is something with that page.
Possibilities:
- Media -- Graphics / Movies / Audio files -- If you have 1 or more "bad" files on this page that could be a source of issues. Try removing those file types and publish.
- Fonts -- A bad font file could cause issues when publishing. Try changing all the text on the page to a standard font like Arial or Helvetica.
- Backup -- Restore from a backup before this issue started with that page

Error unknown message when saving ai file

Several days ago I got an external hard drive to backup. Had an error message saying all wasn't saved right. I use CS2 suite, all works fine except my illustrator files will not save as ai. They will save as jpeg, pdf, eps, but not ai. Error unknown message window popsup. Also 3/4 of my file names have turned from black to blue. I have reinstalled CS2 and this didn't fix the problem. What went wrong? How can this be fixed? I'm working on a book using Illustrator files alot.

PC - Windows, no fonts were installed. Only the ai files are affected. But nearly 3/4 of all file extension names have changed from black to blue. No big deal on that, but the ai saving is very upsetting.

"Publishing Error" Unknown error occured.

I have just recently published a small club website. Plenty of photos.
I have tried to publish a new blog page, but have been told that there is a publishing error - Unknown error occured.
I checked my idisk and there is plenty of free space.
Is there a limit of uploads in a certain period?

To answer my own question
Install the latest version of iWeb and it works fine.
Moral of this story...
Upgrade whenever possible.

Error "Unknown Message" in BPM process

Hi, I'm experiencing the wonderful "Unknown Message" error that has been very discussed here. I am creating an IDoc to JBDC business process who bundles several IDocs to be sent as a query to JDBC.
When I try to run the process, it doesn't even starts it, because of this error.
I checked the XML and I think that the issue is at the receiver determination or at the interface determination, because the tag receiver looks like this:

And, from what I said above, the IDoc can't be both sender and receiver. For me, it doesn't make sense. In the receiver it should have been the inbound abstract interface,right?
What I tried and doesn't work:
1) Reactivating the integration process from SXI_CACHE
2) Reimporting the process to the integration directory
3) Deleting and then remaking all the directory objects, like receiver det, interface det and receiver agreement.
What Integration Directory objects I have
1) communication channels
2) business scenario
3) imported integration process
4) receiver determination from ERP to the integration process, including an interface determination from IDoc to abstract interface
5) receiver determination from integration process, including an interface det from abstract interface to JDBC message interface
6) receiver agreement from integration process to JDBC business system, having checked on header mapping the sender service as the integration process.
Can you please help me in any way?
Please don't post links that contain solutions that I already tried, I think I've seen today at least 20 links on this issue and none helped.
If this is not sufficient, I can post the whole return XML on my next reply.

I've checked the trace and the main error message seems to be:
<Trace level="1" type="T">...There is no Interface Determination configured for receiver party and receiver service IP_CreditControl_Bundle</Trace>
How could this be? Because I've set the receiver & interface determination in the integration directory and they're fine.

Publish Error (unknown error)

iWeb 3.01
So I decided to break my site into two sites after upgrading to '09. I broke a 360 page blog into a separate website. I did this by simply dragging the blog down to the new website in the navigation window. All links in the blog appeared to update and looked like they would still work. I did have to update references to the blog in the original site.
I published the original site minus the blog in two tries (which is not bad these days), but the second site will not publish. I get the dreaded unknown error. It will not publish to a local hard drive or to Mobile Me. When publishing to a local hard drive the main landing page publishes, and works, but as soon as it get to the main blog page the error comes up. When I examine the resulting site as published to a local hard drive I can get to the blog summary page, but instead of a summary there is the following text: Blog Summary Widget. This is not my text and seems to have been placed there by the build.
Any ideas?
(I don't really want to combine it all back together into one site like before because the whole iWeb experience is so buggy and fraught with problems I'd rather just keep what is working now working.)

Thanks - Yeah, I have backups. That's an interesting idea. My hypothesis is that it will be successful, at least to a hard drive, and I don't want to test it beyond that right now for obvious reasons - heck, the blog was published online until I tried to outsmart the new software so I know the blog data is good enough to work. But even if this is successful, what do we do with that information? Where is this going? (I know people don't necessarily have time to answer hypothetical questions, but I think it's a logical one.)
I actually have two MobileMe sites. I manage the other one with another computer so everything is separate - neat and clean. What I'd really like to do, now that I've pull the blog out of my more active website, is move the blog over to the other MobileMe account. That website stays pretty static and since the blog is no longer being updated I really only need it online for reference only. My idea from the beginning has been to get it away from the active site so whenever something gets stupid, as has happened recently (with iLife '09) I don't have to re-upload all those pages.
I hope all that makes sense.
Is there any way to take something like this out of one website on one MobileMe account and move it over to another website on a separate account without having to build it all from scratch?

IWeb publishing error unknown version 1.01

Help. I thought iWeb was supposed to be fairly simple!
I have a reasonable amount of content, which I have recently gone to a lot of hard work to transpose from homepage to iweb. It now won't publish. I get the above error message. I have looked for something to aid me with this, but it tends to be regarding version 1.1 (I haven't upgraded). I want to cry. Any ideas anyone? Is it because I changed a couple of site names? Are five photo pages with approximately 80 photos on more than 1 GB? I have gone into Domain, this indicates 1.1GB but I don't think that can be right! Also, I tried to publish to a folder - no success there either - the above error message again!
Please help me, I'm so frustrated I could pop!

does that mean you have a homepage version of the photos then an iWeb published one?
then yeah it is likely you've exceeded the 1Gb space allotment in a single user .mac account. (80 photos x 5 x 2(homepage+iWeb versions) .... its possible to reach 1 Gb depending on the size of the photos
Play around with publishing to a free version of .mac . Create a new user on your computer and use that to publish to the new .mac account. See if you encounter problems publishing there, this way you can rule out whether it was your paid .mac account that's faulty or your ISP/network.
Lookslike you have to make a choice between homepage and iWeb. Just arrange your photos on iPhoto as you see fit (the 5 albums you want) and play around in iWeb.

I have to say Im a little confused to. Following the steps outlined:
Desaturate in LR.
Export as a JPG (add to this catalog selected- for reimport)
Select image. Switch to Print Module
Print file.
No problems as expected. I dont see that there is any seting to adjust that will clear this issue.
Q. Is it consistent with every BW file or just some?
Aside from changing your workflow so as not to produce jpgs at all in favor of a Lightroom gallery for showing your clients the images, based on the info I have I cannot replicate the problem. So I will try first an optimization of the catalog.
Prefernces > General > Go to Catalog Settings > General > Relaunch and Optimize.

Error unknown message when trying to download an app and logging in? Fix?

Is anyone else having this problem when trying to log into the app store or hitting the "install button" of the app and trying to log in? Is there anyway to fix it?? I haven't been able to download any apps on this macbook pro.

Also, I am able to log into itunes just fine. It is only when trying to log in the app store that I seem to be unable to proceed any further than typing my password. All the input information is correct.

Publish error on iweb 3.0.1

I am having trouble publishing to my mobileme domain. I keep getting the +publish error, unknown error+ message. I recently upgraded to snow leopard. Anyone know what is causing the problem. I've deleted my domain and created it twice already.

Publishing error like no other

Ok its been a while since ive updated my site but Ive tried to do it recently and all it says is
publishing error(unknown error occurred). Now ive searched and searched and havent found this type of error on here. Hopefully someone can help. It doesnt say anything else no publishing in background or error try later nothing just unknown error and thats it. Ive tried publishing to a folder nada. Can someone please help????!!!!!!!!

COM - error Unknown in /sapapo/mat1 transaction

In the transaction /sapapo/mat1 i select a product and its location.
Then in the Extras Menu when i select Where-Used List, it shows the message "COM - error Unknown"

hi - try running the livecache consistency check (/n/sapapo/om17) for product-locations and correct any errors that may be detected and try again to use the where-used functionality.

"Unknown Publisher" error message during installation

Ok, I have tried for several days and even got ahold of Microsoft on this issue. Every time i go to download Itunes the download is ok, but when it goes to install Itunes, I ALWAYS get "Unknown Publisher" error message and installation is cancelled. How do i resolve this issue? Any ideas?????

Some folks have had success by downloading and installing QuickTime standalone, then installing itunes after QT. iTunes needs QT codecs to play audio & video.

Make sure to get the version withOUT itunes.

Publisher error message

Every time I try to update my site I get a message saying "unknown publisher error" how do I remedy this. Do I need to recreate my entire site? or is there some way to fix the problem? Thanks

I'm getting "Publish Error - An unknown error occurred" in iWeb

....and it's killing me! My podcast has been MIA for over a week now. The link to my webpage is gone. I can't find any help here. When I try to publish my episodes, this is what I get: Publish Error - An unknown error occurred...
I can't seem to find any advice anywhere on what to do about it. I've searched forums and tried reloading, refreshing, etc. Please help.

Well, actually it is solved... I guess. My son wrote a page on a blog model, without no blog on it; I first removed all buttons that could call an RSS feed or podcasts from all the pages, the issue remained.
The page in question displayed another error message in Safari, telling something was missing, and it was impossible to navigate the site via the menu banner; so I Cmnd-A the page, copied the whole stuff onto a brand new blank page, no success neither.
Eventually, I rewrote the page from scratch, and it solved the issue. Perhaps somewhere on the former page a hidden button or a piece of code which put the mess... I dunnow. But it seems to be OK now.
