Publish Failed: Captivate 6.1, Mac OSX 10.8.5
I am experiencing the dreaded and unhelpful "Publish Failed" error message as well. I receive the message only when I am publishing a project with a quiz; projects without quizzes publish without any issue. I am publishing only to SWF output. I am running the latest build of Captivate: 6.1.0.319. I'm running a MacBook Pro Retina on OSX 10.8.5.
Reading through similar previous threads, I saw mention of a file named "Default.html" to be found in ../Publish/SCORM/Default/1_2.
But the file I find residing there is named "Default_HTML5.html". I don't know if this makes any difference.
I have deleted the plist file as well. Still no joy.
Please, I am open to any suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Hi There,
Greetings from Adobe.
Please try the below steps and see if it works for you:
It seems that Defaul.htm is missing from your SCORM folder . I am sending you the Zip file. Please unzip it and replace it with the SCROM folder already located on Captivate installed location. Please follow the below steps:
Download the zip file from the following link - https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=pjLGDuZsiduZy79qoEcDEw
Unzip it.
Take the backup of the SCORM folder present at “/Applications/Adobe Captivate 6/Templates/Publish/”
Replace the one with the unzipped folder.
Re-launch the captivate.
Open the captivate project which has SCORM1.2 reporting.
Re-Publish it.
Let me know if you still face the same issue.
Regards,
Mayank

Multiple Applications failing to launch in Mac OSX Mavericks
Hi there,
I recently updated my Mac Pro to Mac OSX Mavericks (OS X 10.9.2), and since that time, I have experienced multiple applications in my Adobe CC Subscription failing to launch. As a first step, I attempted to uninstall the applications so that I could reinstall them and see if that fixed the problem. However, when I go to uninstall the applications, I get the same message (crash report) that I get when I attempt to launch them, so I'm unable to uninstall the applications.
I'm not sure what the protocal is, or where I can send the crash reports to get a better idea of what is going wrong. Below I've listed a series of applications that are failing to launch, then the applications that are launching and running perfectly fine, along with some information about the computer I'm running on to see if the hardware might be out-of-date and adding to the problem.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and I look forward to hearing from anyone that could provide some insight!
Applications that are Crashing (all are CC versions):
Photoshop

Audition

Illustrator
Firework

Adobe Acrobat Pro

I failed to re-install the OSX on my MacBook Air after erasing my personal information in preparation to sell the computer. Reason: I forgot my Apple ID and password. I have recovered my ID and password on my wondows computer. There is no software on my MacBook Air right now. How do I re-install OSX?
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This will install the OS originally installed on your computer. If you plan to sell or give away the computer, then do not upgrade it or the purchaser will not be able to use it. -

HelloWorld: HTMLLoader failed to initialize on MAC OSX
Hi All...
Just Started Playing with AIR. Installed the runtime and the latest jdk on a Mac running OSX 10.6.7.
Following the AIR 1.5 HTML Docs, attempted to run the HelloWorld application.
I copied and pasted the HelloWorld-app.xml content and HelloWorld.html content into their respective files. Copied also the AIRAliases.js to the HelloWorld folder and used the command line tools as indicated:
adl HelloWorld-app.xml
The commend executes, but what I get is the following, both on the console and on an ActionScript error window:
Error: HTMLLoader failed to initialize
at flash.html::HTMLLoader/initHTMLEngine()
at flash.html::HTMLLoader()
at runtime::ContentPlayer/loadInitialContent()
at runtime::ContentPlayer/playRawContent()
at runtime::ContentPlayer/playContent()
at runtime::AppRunner/run()
at ADLAppEntry/run()
at global/runtime::ADLEntry()
After dismissing the error window, the HellowWorld app window appears, but with no content.
I was unable to find any pointers to what is wrong, and where... I know that HelloWorld.html is being read because if i remove the file, i get a different complain, about it being missing... Also, if I remove all it's content, i don't get the error, but I also don't get the app window.
Any clues?
Thanks!Also. I tried packaging the application and was able to generate a HelloWorld.air package. When i run it, the application crashes.
I also downloaded some of the AIR applications offered by adobe on the SDK download window. Some run, some crash... The AOL Videos app crashes after the splash window, in a similar way that the HelloWorld.air app crashes...
Here is the first part error from the crash window... I can paste the whole thing, but it is very lengthy:

Purchased a new MacBook Pro in January and just now trying to load my copy of Adobe CS5 onto it. Everything installed okay, but when I launch Adobe Extension Manager I get an error message saying that certain extensions failed to import and to make sure they are valid extensions.
I tried to install a 3rd party extension that I use and it will not import either. Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue.
Error message reads as follows:
The following extensions 'idcs5_AssetPubLibrary.zxp,idcs5_AssignmentUI.zxp,idcs5_Assignments.zxp,idcs5_AWS.zxp,idc s5_AWSUI.zxp,idcs5_BasicTools.zxp,idcs5_Book Panel.zxp,....' for product 'InDesign CS5' failed to be imported. Please make sure these are valid extensions.
I tried to update the extension manager to version 5.0.3 and that did not work. I tried uninstalling the entire suite and reinstalling and same results.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.My guess is that you're trying to use the Migrate feature from OSX. Unfortunately, this will not work reliably with Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud applications.
You'll need to run the Adobe Cleaner tool to delete all Adobe stuff you copied over:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation ... - Adobe
Then you'll have to install CS5 from your original discs or a backup of your original install files.
Lacking that, you can download CS5 from this link:

Publish Failed: Captivate 7.0
Published the file to swf yesterday. Worked great. Today it' won't work. Made only minor text change
Hi There,
Can you please confirm exact version of Captivate 7 by going to Help > About Adobe Captivate ?
Try to launch Captivate in an admin. mode by right click on it and choose run as administrator, also try to copy all the slides and paste in a new blank project and then try to publish a SWF.
You can also try to hide those slides on which you have done the minor text change and then try to publish a SWF in order to identify the issue.

Captivate 6 and Mac OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion Fatal Error
When I attempt to create a new project, I immediately get a message: "A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated." Is anyone else having this issue?
Hi there
Indeed, many folks confuse the issue by writing "Captivate CS6" and the issue there is that Captivate has never been part of the Creative Suite line of products.
Cheers... Rick

Mac OSX 10.5.6 update fails every time
Hi,
I recently did a defrag on my macbook pro and reinstalled it from the leopard disk. And so it was reset to mac OSX 10.5, now every time I try the combined update to 10.5.6 it fails, I tried twice with the updated deleting in after the first try. I then downloaded it from the downloads but to no avail.Hello and welcome to the discussions. Just recently the 10.5.6 combo update was revised to allow the update from 10.5.0. Before it was required 10.5.1 to update using the 10.5.6 combo. Try updating to 10.5.1 then run the 10.5.6 combo.
You can download 10.5.1 here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_1Update
Hope it works for you,

Since the upgrade of Anyconnect to 3.0.3054 on my MAC OSX LION 10.7.1, i have been getting
failed to load preferences error. During the upgrade the vpn connection get established, but once
i disconnect and try to connect again its starts bombing on "failed to load preferences". For now
i keep uninstalling anyconnect and reinstall an older version which while autoupgrading to 3.0.3054
is able to connect for the first time. Its getting very painful. Any help from the support team will be
appreciated!I had the same issue and it is due to corrupted preferences.xml file under /opt/cisco/vpn/profile directory. Easy way to fix is uninstall the client and remove the profile directory under /opt/cisco/vpn. Removing the profile directory requires a root access on MAC OS X.

Preview/Publish Fail & Freeze in Captivate 5
I'm experiencing freezing & "publish failed" messages when I attempt to preview or publish my project. My project contains 1 slide with a text caption and 40 slides recorded as a demo with no audio. I've attempted:
clearing the cache
reducing the project size
copying recorded slides to a blank presentation
installing the latest Captivate 5 update
I have many other similar projects without this problem. Nothing seems to be working!I had a similar problem when I tried to publish a project in Captivate 5 that I had first created in Captivate 3. This problem did not happen with every 3 --> 5 conversion, only in some projects. Very mysterious.
For me, I noticed that it ALWAYS froze during each Publish attempt at EXACLTY the same spot around 41%, so that caused me to become suspicious: What was around 41% of the way through my slideshow that was unique/different/unusual?
Finally I realized that there was a slide part way through the project in which I had used a quiz feature in Captivate 3 that was not available in Captivate 5, So, when I deleted that slide and re-did it in Captivate 5, the publish worked fine.
Just thought I would throw this in for consideration in case:
your project was actually created in Captivate 3 first and now you are publishing in 5.
if your project freezes at exactly the same spot during each publish, you can investigate slides around that area to determine if there is anything unique/different/unusual -
Mac osx 10.6.8 to mavericks always fail
i dont even know what shall i do to fix this problem
all i wanna do is to update my mac to mavericks but that isnt happening even after downloading mavericks several times
in each time it reach half way and finish downloading
when it starts to install it fails
anyone knows what shall i do?
am running mac osx 10.6.8Check your download speed here > Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test
Less than 10Mbps, the file may be timing out before it can finish the installation.
Be aware, with Mavericks installed, if you need to repair the startup disk or restore OS X that requires using OS X Recovery which requires a high speed broadband connection as noted here.
Mavericks requires 8GB of disk space.
Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your desktop or open the Finder, right or control click startup disk in the Sidebar on the left then click Get Info.
You'll see Available and Capacity. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.

Why do I get Publish Failed Error Message when trying to publish a project to SWF. I am using Captivate 6 (32 Bit) Version 6.0.1.240. I have tried clearing the Cache and renaming my Preferences folder
Try the troubleshooting tips here:

You may have something in your project on one of the slides that is tripping up the publishing process. -
My imac is currently running mac os x 10.5.8. I've tried to install mac osx snow leopard 10.6.3, but have been unsuccesful because the disc fails to install.
What could be the problem?noondaywitch wrote:
You should boot from the Installer DVD by holding down the C key during start up until the Apple logo and spinning cog wheel appears. Allow plenty of time for the installer to appear - it can take several minutes when booting from a disc.
I suggest not doing this unless the Apple recommended method (starting by double-clicking on the
Install Mac OS X icon while booted up normally) fails.
There are several reasons for this:
The Apple method performs a check of the DVD's integrity before starting up from it. This can't be done if you start up directly from the DVD.
The Apple method "phones home" using the current OS's network settings to check for updates to the incompatible items database included on the DVD & writes a lot of pre-install data (the 'Mac OS X Install Data' stuff) to the HD before restarting automatically from the DVD to finish the installation. This may not work as expected if you start up directly from the DVD.
The pre-install data on the HD speeds up the installation process (because running the OS from the HD to build the data is faster than doing that while running from a DVD).
The Apple method makes it possible to "gracefully" cancel the installation before the automatic restart occurs without leaving the existing OS on the HD in a corrupted, "half-installed" state unable to restart the Mac. This sometimes happens if the installation process hangs & one has to force-restart the Mac to recover. As long as this occurs during the "pre-install phase" before the restart, the existing OS should remain untouched & intact.
Also note that the Snow Leopard installer is quite a bit more sophisticated than the previous ones like for Leopard or Tiger. It automatically performs the equivalent of Disk Utility's Verify Disk step before beginning the installation & performs more checks during the installation process (including checking the pre-install data for errors). It is usually not necessary to remove the "Mac OS X Install Data" folder after a failed installation, which may just cause the process to take longer on subsequent attempts, but if nothing else helps it is certainly something worth trying.
