Publish iDVD Slideshow on iWeb

I have created a slideshow with music in iDVD and burned several DVDs. I would like to publish the content to iWEB in my .Mac account but have not been able to figure out how to do it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Tony
Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

There is no easy way to use the DVD slideshow created by iDVD.
Why not just create the slideshow in iWeb. Try the iWeb forum at http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=188 if you need help.

  • How to publish iphoto slideshows to iweb?I

I want to publish slidshows that I made in iphoto on my website. Each time I try to load the pages, they appear to load, then I get a message saying that "work will continue for several minutes behind the scenes . . . leave this application open." After a long while, I receive a message saying my pages didn't load . . . "check your internet connection."
How do I get the slideshows onto my webpage with a reduced file size. I suspect that the slideshow files are too big. I see the slideshow folders in my movie/media list as .mov files, but I can't open the slideshow folders in imovie to reduce the file size in quicktime. When I try to click an drag them off the desktop or try to export them from iphoto to imovie to work with the file size, the folders just bounce right back.
    What am I doing wrong??
Also, I have a .com hosted with another host for my photography business. How do I link the slideshows to that website. I want to use the slideshows as a way to do a quick "proof session" with my clients.
    Thanks for the advice!

iPhoto gives you three size options to export your slideshow as a QuickTime file.
The smallest is not very good but gives the quickest download time. Just because iWeb tells you a movie is too big doesn't mean you have to listen!
Its a trade off between quality and download time.
.Mac galleries, iWeb galleries and Photo pages all go to thumbnails and the viewer has to start the slideshow.
You are going about things the right way to get a slideshow only. Once you have loaded it onto the iWeb page you can go to the "QuickTime" inspector and select "autoplay" etc. and also drag the placeholder to whatever size you want.

  • IDVD slideshows to iWeb???

I was wondering if its possible to put a slideshow that I made in iDVD onto iWeb to share with friends on the internet.
If not with iWeb is there any other way to share my slideshow on the net?

.. your question reminds me of a different thread, we had here...:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=902171
follow Russ' link to his website.. impressive ...
read my silly questions and watch my demo (last post in that thread, warning HUGE files ahead on my website I linked to...) ...
Russ had and managed the idea, to create a Book in iPhoto, used some Slideshow settings on it, shared the Book to iDVD, and used the created mp4 in his 'Movies' Folder for a website.. ! (Book>Slides>Web.. what a workflow .. )
.. I NEVER had that idea, but it works..

  • How to publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb

Is it possible to (or how do you) publish a photo book and slideshow in iWeb created either in Aperture or iPhoto?

Here's an example of E Books. They're created in iWork and loaded into iWeb as a compressed PDF for download. The photo of the front cover is used for the link.

For a larger file, you can upload it to a folder on your server and create a link to it from your website.

  • Can't publish my blog, new iWeb user.

I created a blog for a trip to Europe but I can't publish it. I selected publish a the bottom of the page and I get the option to open a  mobile me account or not. If I select mobile me I'm moved to a new screen that says Apple is no longer offering mobile me. If I select no the screen goes away and I'm back at my Blog page. But I'm not published and there doesn't seem to be another way.
    Any suggestions??
I'm using a mac book pro that I purchased in February this year. This is also my first MAC, so I'm still learning the system.

Apple will discontinue MobileMe on June 30, 2012, and is not accepting new accounts.  Since iWeb's blog relies on the MMe server for comments by blog visitors I suggest you use a 3rd party blogging site and create your blog there. You can embed your 3rd party blog into one of your iWeb site pages as shown in this demo: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page.
When you have your site designed and ready for publication you will need to get a 3rd party hosting site to host your site. This following will be of interest to you in that regard: Life After MobileMe.
Also you should be aware of the following:
It is now known that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

    Hello,
I am trying to set up iWeb to publish to my own domain, and see info about doing that with Mobile Me, but since Mobile Me is moving to iCloud, how do you set it up with iCloud?  I just want to be able to publish my website directly to my own domain with iWeb.  Thanks!

  • I can't publish my site to iWeb

it is asking me to join mobile me but my account is already in iCloud. I published a few weeks back and had no problem at all.

iCloud does not support web hosting. You will have to find 3rd party hosting. This may be of some interest to you: Life After MobileMe.  The following discusses iWeb after MMe is discontinued:

  • Problem publishing Photo page with iWeb 08

    Hello,
I have a problem when publishing photo pages with iWeb 08. Upload starts and then I get the error message that iWeb encountered a problem while publishing. The funny thing is that I can see
the photo page in Safari. The only problem is that when starting the slide show I can not see the
forward/backward buttons. Publishing a photo page with iWeb from a .me web photo gallery works without any error message, but still when starting the slideshow the navigation buttons are not displayed. Actually if you click on the place where the navigation buttons are supposed to be,
you can go picture forward/backward. Any idea ?

I am having the same issue, except I do not get any error messages when publishing to a folder. Clicking on the "index" file within the folder will open the photo page in both Safari and Firefox. Everything functions as designed except no forward/backward/pause buttons are visible below the slideshow. There are text box outlines with a question mark where these buttons are supposed to be located, and I can pause, advance or reverse slides. Eventually these question mark outlines disappear and stay disappeared.
The end result is there are no intuitive graphic indicators on the slide show to even suggest to the viewer that he/she has some control over the presentation. I don't believe I can add explanatory text boxes to the slide show to compensate for the missing icons. This lack of visible control elements in the slide show is a huge issue. I am reasonable sure the problem does not reside within my computer. I've also reviewed inspector control options for a photo page/slide show and haven't gotten any combination of check boxes to make a difference.
I'm beginning to think this may be an unexpected conflict that was contained within a recent software update. It might well be worth a close look at programming code by Apple technicians. In the meantime, can anyone offer a clue as to what might be going on?

  • Autoviewer slideshow in iweb- transparency?

    Hi guys,
Does anyone know how i can make my autoviewer slideshow have a transparent background so the page behind shows through around the photos?
Right now the frame colour and background colour in the webexport options are: background 181818 and framecolour 181818. Any advice would be appreciated!
    Cheers,

I took you advice, as given in this thread and now my slideshow works. iWeb has a problem with Verizon servers, with regard to SlideShow.

    How did you edit .js?
Give this a try, edit this file:
    http://mysite.verizon.net/macericpet/Home/SlideShow_assets/openSlideShowWindow.j s
Open it with text editor, you will find two functions:
    function openSlideShow(initialIndex)
    function openSlideShow2(initialIndex, language)
You can swap them, rename openSlideShow to openSlideShow2
    and rename openSlideShow2 to openSlideShow

  • Slideshow in iWeb won't work on my server - not .Mac,

My Photos page, created with a template, is giving me a 404 msg. (SlideShow.html not found on this server) whenever I go to click on the SlideShow icon. My site is http://www.theweetman.net.
However, when I run the site from my desktop files, the slideshow works.
Does the site have to be uploaded to a .Mac server to work on-line?
BTW - I used Fetch 5.2 to upload my files, and the SlideShow.html file is where it is supposed to be. Please Help!
    Thanks

  • An error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/Jim and Steph's Si

I'm guessing this is a common message most see when they try to publish their website. Reason I say this, is it is the only message I have recieved in the last week when trying to use this faulty software.
Here it is again if you missed it:
An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/iWeb/Jim and Steph's Site/Jim's Blog”.
I got this MacBook week ago yesterday. Totally excited to share pictures and blog information. Spent 99 dollars or close to it for a mac account to simply share this information on the web. The first four pages (all pictures), I published worked well. Then I updated to iWeb 1.1.1 and tried to publish with blogs and more pictures and it won't work. Now all that I published before does not even come up. I emailed support here on mac.com and got the generic reply that I have already read on this forum. I tired as many fixes as I could to no avail. Two questions:
    1. Any ideas to fix this problem?
    2. Can you get your money back?
    Sorry this was so long.
    Thanks everyone,
    Jim B

    Jim...
Try doing a "Publish All to .Mac" if nothing else works for you. And if I could make a recommendation, it probably wouldn't be a bad thing to simplify your site name (Jim and Steph's Site) and eliminate the apostrophes (also in Jim's Blog). A longer site URL with complexities such as punctuation and spaces and even capitalization can potentially wreak havoc on your site navigation and function. Simplifying your site and page names will at the very least lead to shorter and more recognizable URLs...and when you start to add more pages it will also make the navigation menu at the top of your pages look "cleaner". Think simple names, like "oursite" and "HeSays" or "SheSays"
    Just a suggestion.

How do I Create a slideshow in Iweb with arrows to right and left, just like this link:

    Thanks in advance!

It's done with java script. Here is one example on this demo page: AutoViewer which is created in iPhoto with the Flash Album Exporter plugin.
Another source is Jalbum. It have over 100 skins/themes, one of which should match what you want.

  • How to publish Aperture projects to iWeb

iPhoto has a button that enable one to publish photos directly from iPhoto into iWeb.  I can not find such a button since I moved up to Aperture.  Am I missing it?  Or, I may be going about it the wrong way.   I currently use MobileMe to host a family photo web site published by iWeb, and linked to several dozen MM photo galleries.  When MM dies next year I would like to keep all of this stuff together in the easiest way possible.  I know that I will need to use another web hosting service to host my iWeb published site.  But, I need to get my current MM photo galleries, all published via Aperture, "into" iWeb, not simply linked to it.  One way, if I were still using iPhoto, would be to use the iWeb button and republish all of the galleries directly into iWeb.  Can I do this from Aperture?  thank you!

I don't have hands-on experience with this aspect of Aperture, but it seems that Chapter 24 covers the Creation of Webpages.  It appears it is not using iWeb.

  • IDVD slideshow won't pause on playback on DVD player. Why?

Why can't I pause an iDVD slideshow on playback?
I make iDVD slideshows and after burning the disk, it will not pause when I push the pause button during playback on a DVD player.

I have a brand new iMac
If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

If that doesn't work you can purchase iLife 11  (includes iDVD) on disk.
IDVD is a wonderful piece of software and well worth the low cost of $40.

they recommened a 3rd party program so I downloaded "Burn-osx"
Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie. Get iDVD.
