Publish iviews in Portal Content Directory within BEX

Hi,
I'm having a problem wherein I'm not able to view the
PCD contents while i'm trying to publish an iview to the
portal thru BEX.In this case i'm not able to publish anything to portal. The Super administrator can view these with his ID.
we are using EP6.0 and BW3.5.I have tried giving the
same set of roles as that of administrator to myself even
then it doesnt seems to work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Gk

Hi Arun,
I have exactly the same problem as Catherine has. I checked through SM30, and there's one entry in the table with the following values:
Destination: EPDBIP_PORTAL
Name of the system: BIPCLNT040
Default: checked
URL Prefix: http://emsso2.web.bc:52000
Prefix BW Metadata: /bip_metadata
KM Service URL: <<empty>>
However, I still get the bad index problem. Any more ideas (anyone) ?
Thanks
Frederik

  • How to call Java WebDynpro iViews from Portal (Portal Content Directory)

    Hello everybody,
I am trying to call a Java WebDynpro iView, which was created within the Enterprise Portal and is stored in the portal content directory (pcd).
I have created an HTML-iView in VC, where I have put in the pcd-link into the default-url field (pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.cprxrpm.ppmdc/com.sap.pct.cprxrpm.iviews/com.sap.pct.cprxrpm.iviews_cprojects/com.sap.pct.cprxrpm.cpr_projects). This iView is calling the cProjects WebDynpro Application. But after I run my model, the portal page is running and running, but nothing happens.
I did the same with transactional iView, which was also created in the Portal before. I have also created an HTML-iView in VC, where I have put in the pcd-link into the default-url field (pcd:portal_content/IBU_content/SAP_for_Service_Provider/com.sap.pct.issp.ps.professional_services/com.sap.pct.issp.prs.iviews/com.sap.pct.issp.prs.display_sd). This is working fine!
What I also tried is to call another VC-Model with an HTML-iView. Here I have put-in into the default-url field the pcd-location of my VC-model (pcd:portal_content/IBU_content/SAP_for_Service_Provider/com.sap.pct.issp.vcmodels/com.myComp.myProduct.1DM9.CreateEngagement/com.myComp.myProduct.iviews/com.myComp.myProduct.1G62.Cprojects_neu). This is also running fine!
Now I do not understand the difference between this three objects. There are all iViews within the portal but the WebDynpro iView is not callable through a HTML-iView in VC.
Could you help me in this case? Your help is very appreciated!
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,
    Aylin.

    Hi Marcel,
when you mean the preview within the portal, yes, it is working fine.
URL is not the way to solve my problem. I am working with IDES-Systems. This is our Demo System within SAP. I have to build my VC-Model in a Master IDES-System which will be transported than into the other IDES-Systems. The URL of the WD is not the same in the other systems. It is changing depending on the several Sysems. But the pcd-location is in all systems the same. Therefore I have to specify the pcd-location of the application.
Is there a restriction with WD within VC?
If we can do some kind of a netmeeting, I can show you my problem exactly.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Aylin.

  • Remove Portal Content Directory  From Personalization window

    Hi,
I have requirement...   we have a home page, which contain a set of iview and page. When logged in user personalize this page, he is able to see portal content directory and its folder structure provided he has end user permission.
Is there any option to avoid displaying folder struture. Or is there any option to hide portal content directory in personalization even user has end user permission.
    Regards
    Baby

    Hi,
please check your permissions of the PCD. (Right click on folder -> open -> permissions)
End Users can only see PCD folders which have the "End User" flag enabled.
All permissions are inherited by successing folders. So don't set the End User flag in general.

  • Unable to see the portal content directory in content adminstration

    Hi,
I am unable to see the portal content directory in the content administration. I am not the super administrator.I have been assigned content admin role. But, I am unable to see the PCD.I see from previous blogs that permission has to be set for my role.
Can any one help me in telling the procedure to set the permission. If permission is not the issue then do tell me the solution for it.
    Suganya

    Hi Suganya,
The content admin role normally is sufficient to see / read the portal content catalogue (as far as the standard settings are concerned). But maybe they have been restricted on your implementation by some administrator.
Some with sufficient permissions on the portal content catalogue has to right-click on the root (portal_content) object, "open", "permissions", and has to provide at least administrative "read" permission to you, some role (content admin for example) which is assigned to you or some group you belong to.
    Hope it helps

    Thanks much in advance,

    Hi Sunita,
Contact your systen admin people , he/she will assign the Read/Write or Full controls to content_admin_role in the system administration -> Permissions -> select portal content folder and right click the select open Permissions , There he/she has to add content_admin_role in Assigned Permissions category and under Administrator category select Full Control and select End user check box and save the changes.
Then you can see the Portal Content and you can create /change the portal contents.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Portal Content Directory Invisible

    Hi,
I could not find my Portal Content Directory in my Content Administration. What could be the problem? Kindly help me out.
    Regards,
    Kalai.

The problem is due to lack of role as by default the portal content directory will permit only super admin role so if you have created user with out this role then you have to either add your user or the new role to the permissions of the Portal Content Folder....
You can do this by logging into the user with super admin role and add your user/role to the portal content permissions...
Permissions can be added either from System administration or from Content Administration ...
System Administration --> Permissions --> Select Portal Content and add your role or user
Content Administration --> Dbl Clk Portal Content Directory --> in the display select box select Permissions and add your user / role ...
this might help as i faced the similar problem ....

  • Iview in portal PA to open BEx workbook in a different server

    Hello gurus!
It is my first post in this forum, so I hope I can be clear enough. I am facing a client request for which I have not found any documentation of how it could be possible. I will explain more or less the requirements. I have been searching through the forums and I could not find anything.
We have 2 production servers PA and PB. The portal is working over the PA. Is it possible to create an Iview in the PA portal to link somehow and get a BEx workbook from the PB BW server opened? Do you know of any document or guide on how to do it?
Thank you very much in advanced,
       Victor

    Hi Lawrence,
Using this link I created the iview. Then in collaboration with the basis we configured the system landscape correctly and now it works perfectly
BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal - Business Intelligence - SAP Library
       Kind Regards

  • Portal Content Translation - Unable to see the changed iView name, desc etc

    Hi Experts,
I am using Portal Content Translation to translate the name of iViews, roles, iview description etc from English to Spanish. I have followed the method mentioned in the below mentioned link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/74/641640b7b6dd5fe10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I have successfully executed all the processes mentioned in the document. It includes:
    Creating Worklists and add content
    Generate translation data
    Release for translation
Search worklist and define source and target language
    Load worklist for translation
    Translate worklist
    Make worklist as translated
    Publish translation
I am able to publish the publish translation.
The above document says that "Publishing a translation means that the translated text strings are written back to the objects to which they belong (for example, the translated title of a role to the role object stored in the Portal Content Directory). "
In my case I have translated the name, description of an iView. After publishing am I supposed to see the name & description of iView in Spanish in the same iView (source iView).
I have not created any target iView. Am I supposed to create any target iView?
I am unable to see iView name, description in Spanish.
Can you please let me know what is going wrong?
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Stuart,
please set the user's language in UME. You can do this in the personalization dialog (see SAP Library section <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/f8/64e93b3a612d52e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm">Setting Portal Preferences</a>. Assign the portal role "eu_core_role" to your user if you do not see the "personalize" link in the portal masthead.
In what language does the iview name appear if you do not select Spanish language?
Please check if the name of the iView appears in Spanish language in PCD after you switched portal language to Spanish.
    Best regards,
    Martin

  • URL iView content translation not working using Portal Content Traslation

    Hi All,
I am using Portal Content Translation to translate text of URL iView from English to Spanish. I am unable to do so. I have followed the below mentioned link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/74/641640b7b6dd5fe10000000a155106/frameset.htm
I have used Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Translation Worlist Coordination to:
    1) Generate worklist and add content
    2) Generte translation data
    3) Release for translation
After this, I am using Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation for following:
    1) Load worklist for translation
    2) Translate worklist
I am facing difficulty in Translate Worklist. The step by step method followed by me are as below:
I am clicking on Content Admin -> Portal Content Translation -> Worklist Translation.
I am searching Translation Worklist and selecting my Worklist
After this I am selecting following
    Source Language - English
    Target Language - Spanish
Then I am clicking on 'Load for Translation' button. New screen appears. In this screen, Translatable Text table is shown:
    It shows following
    Number
    Source Text <EN>
    Target Text <ES>
    Status
    Object ID
In Status I can see 'Not Translated'. I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2)
The Status does not change. It remains 'Not Translated'.
When I am using following combination
    Source Language - Raw Texts
    Target Language - Raw Texts.
I click on Next for three times as there are three line Number (0, 1 & 2). The status changes to Translated.
I do not know what is going wrong with my process while selecting Source Language - English & Target Language - Spanish .
I have another question. I have to translate content of entire URL iView. How I can change the whole content of URL iView.
In the source text I can NOT see the contents of URL iView.
    Thanks
    Stuart

    Hi Prakash,
Did you check whether the translation has been done completely in PCD inspector? Some times you would have translated using Portal translation but it will not be written in the locale of the iView property.  Then we have to set it manually in the PCD inspector.
    Follow the procedure.
    1. navigate to System Administration -> Support -> Portal Content Directory -> PCD Inspector
This will open the PCD inspector.
    2. "Browse Into" the iview where you have developed it.
    3. Click on the "All Props" for the iView which you need to translate.
This will open the Properties in new window
    4. Check the property "com.sap.portal.pcm.title" what is maintained in Chinese? if it still displaying in English text against Chinese, Then you need to  Edit the property for chinese and have to give the actual chinese word.
Note  : I hope you would have selected "Raw Text"  for Source language and "Chinese" as Target language. Pls confirm on this.
    Thanks,
    Mahendran B.

I need information about how to publish visual composer model to portal content. does any one now???
    Regards.

    Hi,
after doing deployment the model in the VC will be published in the Portal content.
You can define the path where you want to publish the Model in the Portal under portalk content in
(In VC) Tools->Options->Compiler->Deployment folder(mention the folder name in the portal content).
    hope you got my point.
