Publish more than one site on mobileMe

Hi, I am a new user of Mac and I am trying to create two websites using iWeb, one as personal website and the other one for my association.
I would like to restrict access, using passwords, to different group of users. Can I publish two sites on my mobileMe using two different users'name and password?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A little bit about iWebSites. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit more than one sites and only republish the one I want.
The URLs for you sites will be: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_accountname/site name

I did my sons website in iWeb on my laptop using my own .mac account to publish it. Now I've up graded to a family account, giving my son his own settings etc. I've done my own website now, but when I publish to either mine or his .mac account it seems to go through the process of publishing both sites.
I've also set my son up as a separate user account on my laptop. Can I move his iweb settings so that he can do his website in iweb without seeing mine. I've noticed there's no import function, but surely I could move a folder to a location in his library that will load into iweb. This would be useful because I'd also like to update my own site from the laptop at home and my imac in the office.

The only thing that changes is you put it to another user account on the same computer and not to another computer but the procedure is the same. When you move it by using a USB stick or CD or whatever you will then have the domain file on both the accounts. They are now completely independent from each other. So when you make a change to one site it will be saved only to that Domain file and not to the other.
The two websites (yours and your son's website) are now in one Domain file. What you then have to do is, once you have it on both user accounts, delete your website in your son's account and his in yours. The rest will be preserved.

Publishing more than one site

I currently have two sites in my iWeb side bar - #1 I published to MobileMe & #2 I just published to a personal domain I purchased thru AT&T. My #1 MobileMe site was fine and now that I just published #2 to FTP, I can no longer get to my #1 MobileMe site to update and when I go to _Site Publishing Settings_ of #1 it says:
*MobileMe Account*: ********@me.com(www.road2worldcup.com)
and the www.road2worldcup.com is the name of my #2 site.
I went on line to Apple Chat & was told:
+Cody R: OK, with publishing to Mobile Me you would need to have only 1 site in iWeb a time. To publish another site you would need to create another Mac OS X user then publish it.+

There is no other place that gives this information and frankly it is a great big pain. I have yet to complete copying and deleting and etc. because I cannot keep track of where I am. And I still show my #1 MobileMe site in my iWeb side bar (along with my #2 site), and when I try to go to my #1 site on the internet it takes me to my #2 FTP site. Please do not ask me to start all over with my MobileMe site as I worked so hard on it & it has about 10 pages already.

You don't need to remove your domain name from MobileMe. It is not publishing directly to your domain name - rather only forwarded so it is merely an illusion.
Go to your second website MRG2 and then do Publish All to MobileMe and you should then be able to get to that site by tying in http://web.me.com/username/sitename into your browser.
Put your domain name back into MobileMe and then publish your first site again - Publish All and you should be able to get to this site by typing in http://web.me.com/username/sitename too.
You should also be able to get to this site by typing in your domain name too - as long as you have it forwarded using CNAME with your host as web.me.com?

Publishing more than one site on iWeb08

I've been searching for the answer to this for days now. I have three websites but want to split them into separate folders and publish individually. I'm happy enough for them to be on .mac for now as they are all redirected from other domains. It works fine on one domain file but it's tricky to publish and would be safer split across three files. I found the link below and separated as explained;

The problem I have is that every time I publish from an individual folder it overwrites my primary location. For example;
http://web.mac.com/user/primary location
I have moved the folders back on idisk as suggested in the link but it still overwrites and won't go to the other sites I have created. ie

http://web.mac.com/user/primary location/website3
Is anyone else suffering or solved this problem?

I don't think this is possible. If you are successful moving the Site folder back one level into the Web directory, there is no way they can be overwritten. As explained in the help page, iWeb08 publishes to the Web/Sites/ directory on the iDisk.
The problem you are having may well be a simple issue with the index.html file. Make sure when you publish from iWeb to .Mac that you use the Publish all to .Mac command from the file menu.
If you look on the iDisk, you can easily see what is there. If your site is there, in the Web/Sites/ directory, but you cannot go to the site using it's url, then it's an index.html problem.
I Command click on the last several sites published to .Mac, and move all of them at once. Then I move them all back again. Clumsy, but seems to work for some. Many have reported getting a 'file in use' error when trying to move the Site Folder on the iDisk.

Publishing more than one project at a time ...

If I have a series of small clips that I want to share with MobileMe Gallery (I do this frequently), is there a way to publish more than one at a time so I don't have to post, wait ten minutes, post wait ten minutes ... etc.?

I am new to WPC, my doubt is can a single site contain more than one site navigation ( navigation.wpc) ??
let me bit more clear....
I created a site, created navigation nodes, created web pages and then published site navigation, copied the path from navigation.wpc, used that path in a worksets "external connections".
Up to here every thing is clear and i did what I wanted.
NOW,
I want to create a new web page which will be part of above navigation path ( navigation.wpc).
I create a web page under same site and used that navigation, and when i used this path in new workset, its again showing me previous content added new web page in detailed navigation of portal.
I want this web page should be part of second level navigation which will not connect to previous one any where.
at last my question is.... can I have more than one navigation paths under single site?
Is it possible? if yes, How? give me steps...

Hi there,
I had the same problem and I THINK I found a way to fix it, try creating a Site inside another Site, this way:
1. Create a New site in the "Sites" folder, let's call it "MyMainSite" (Web Content / Sites / MyMainSite).
2. Open that new site "MyMainSite", there you will find 4 folders, right? Entry Points, Site Content, Site Navigation and Web Pages.
3. Then click at "New" and choose "Site". Here you're creating a Sub-site inside your MainSite, got it? Name this site as "MySubSite"
4. You'll find a 5th folder called "MySubSite", open it.
5. So, you have again the same structure with the 4 folders (Entry Points, Site Content, Site Navigation and Web Pages) and when you create your nodes in the Site Navigation structure you will have a new "navigation.wpc" file, but with a different path.
Technicly it's not very nice, but it works, right?

Opening more than one site at a time

I hope I'm at the right discussion group. I wouldd like to know how to open more than one site or page at the same time w/o losing one when I go to another site/page, which right now, entails punching in the previous info into iGoogle again, and subsequently losing the previous page/site again, ad infinitum. Sorry for the lack of proper terminology, but English is my new language and I have some problems still yet. thank you

Security warning 'access more than one site..' - URGENT HELP

(USING: Reader 707 + Reader extension 702 or Acrobat 707 )
I am having big trouble with this Acrobat/reader security warning:
Security Warning
'This document as accessed more than one site and might be trying to share data among different locations. This could be a privacy concern. Are you sure you want to continue?'
I know it is more an acrobat/Reader issue than designer, but hope that one outthere has ideas.
Problem:
We have 4 servers sharing the load for a webservice. I have coded webservice connection in javascript in Designer 7.1 using SOAP.
The webservice look up data, but i recieve the security warning each time I perform the look up. I have added all sites to Trust Manager, so that is not the problem!
I think the very problem is that Acrobat/Reader request to a DNS alias, but later recieve response from ONE of the specific servers!
Acrobat/Reader request webService on:
http://ck/web/services/FormularWebservice?wsdl;
Acrobat/Reader recieve answer from (for example: da1650 - one of the 4 servers)
http://da1650:9081/web/services/FormularWebservice?wsdl;
So Acrobat/Reader shows the security warning because it suddenly recieve a response from a server that is does not know it has requested against - This is what I think happens!
Have anyone experinced a similiar situation? any ideas? All comments/ideas/solutions are appreciated. As the warning is very anoying to the user I cannot launch my LC forms so I need a solution...

Basically not how this was intended for.
You'll have the option to have a partner account which you can create various sites within your portal where each site will be under its own plan.
Or you'll have an existing account which is designed for one site. So I would say ideally no but you could add multiple domains to a site account under one plan, but then you'll need to share the same account (meaning one shop, one set of system messages, layout, etc).
Those are the options at this stage.

Somebody can helpme saying me how to do the following with eGate ( i cant use eInsight ):
For now im enabled to publish one operation and one webservice, but mi problem is that i can't publish one WebService with more than one operation and i can't change the mandatory "ExecutePortType", all my webservices url are in the form:
http://<server>:<port>/myws/ExecutePortType
1. Why the context name is about the WebService and why ExecutePortType is mandatory ?
2. I can't publish a Web Service with more than one operation ( The documentation says that the ExecutePortType supports just one operation )?

What client are you using? Are you using the netbeans enterprise pack test driver? If so, you can set the soap action in the test properties to match the ones you have defined in the WSDL.
Also if you could post the actual soap message you are sending that would help.
I also noticed that you're using parts defined via types with a document/literal binding. To be more basic profile compliant in that casue you may want to use RPC style instead - it is not strictly necessary, but increases interoperability.

Unable to open more than one site at a time. The + is not working at all.

A few days ago I suddenly lost the ability to have more than one web page open. The "+" will not open anything.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

More than one site with iweb - now my original site forwards to new one

Could anybody help me please?!!
Right. I set up a portfolio website using iweb with a domain from ipage, and that was all fine. Then a few months later, I have set up a website for my Mum's artwork with a new domain bought through the same account on ipage - because ipage allows you to have multiple domains.
Now that I have set up my Mum's site, my own original site just forwards straight to my Mum's. I have checked loads of times that I've entered the right web addresses etc in the bit for the info so that's all correct. I don't know what else to do now. I don't speak the code lingo and am quite basic in my website building knowledge...
Please if there is anyone who can tell me what to do, I'm guessing there's probably a simple solution to this!!

Here's how to have multiple sites in a single MMe account with one or more sites having a domain name.
A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.

2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Site_Name, or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding. This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site. This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents. Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site. This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method. Just use URL forwarding . This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
Check.
In iWeb domainfile 2:
Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses CNAME forwarding. Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE: the CNAME method provides a shorter URL: http://www.Domain_Name.com/Site_Name/Page_Name. CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:   http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/Domain_Name/Page_Name.   With domain name masking that will be shortened to:   http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
However, with masking visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site. If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page. Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.
As you know MobileMe will be discontinued next June 30th. With at in mind this might be of some interest to you at this time: Life After MobileMe.

Can I publish more than one website to my Mobil Me account? -- Urgent!

I need to create a 2nd website with iWeb and publish it using Mobil Me. Can I do this using my existing Mobil Me account? I seem to be able to publish only one site at a time.
If I need to set up a 2nd Mobil Me account, how do I differentiate the two?
I may need to transfer the original website to another person who would set up their own Mobil Me account. If I do, where are the files for my original website? I would have to copy those for the new person so they could access the site on their own Mac.
Any and all advice greatly appreciated.

Your web site file is located in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. It's titled "domain.sites2".
You'll want to make sure that you back up this file from time to time otherwise you'll lose all your hard work if your hard drive fails or if this file becomes corrupted for some reason. All of your web sites and pages are all located within this file.
No need to open up another Mobil Me account. You can publish all of your sites from your account.

Simply FRUSTRATED. How to work on more than one site at a time

I have three sites in edit mode in iWeb. But I can't seem to publish one at a time. It publishes the three different sites as one! H E L P ! !
I also don't know how to save them without publishing, since it seems clear that once I remove them from the editing field on the left, they are no longer openable in iWeb.

Any problem with a single MySQL database used on more than one site?

I have a set of multiple sites hosted separately I'm working on. I'd like to set up a PHP/MySQL database on one site, and be able to pull data from it for completely separate sites. Seems like it shouldn't be a problem. Are there any problems with doing this I need to be aware of?

I've set up databases on three different hosts, and in all cases I could access the databases from outside the domain of the site itslef. GoDaddy is one of them, they used to restrict it, but now they give you the option when setting up a new database on your account.
