Publish one site at a time

If I have two "sites" on my iweb, how do I publish one at a time. I keep getting messges that I can't connect to iweb. This was during the time I was uploading new pages and each one was going fine. I thought this was because I had too many pages, so I separated them to two "sites". This now shows many pages with changes (as in red folders), but I only want to publish one "site". Anyone have the same issue? It was taking 20 minutes to get the error message.....

I use iWebSites to manage the multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • Can I publish one page at a time to the ftp when publishing entire site?

I am currently using iweb to manage my website and i changed a number of pages and require to re-publish the entire site. When i go to do this it attempts to bundle all the files together and publish, but the site only allows for 8 connections via ftp. Is there a way that when i publish the entire site that i can publish one page at a time?
    Thanks for your help!

Publish your site to a local folder...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
... and upload the files using an FTP application...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Upload.html
That way you can upload individual files and folders - one at a time.

  • Publishing one site to a public domain and a different site to .mac

    Hello,
I previous had a personal website on .mac created with iWeb, everything works great. I also volunteer for a profession society local section and recently made them a new website using my version of iWeb as well. I just created a new site under the file menu. I am using my .mac account to host it in the demo stage for the society. We now want to publish to a public domain but when I select "Publish to a Folder" I get both sites; my personal website of home photos and movies plus the society website. Needless to say the folder is huge and I only want one of the two sites.
?? Is there way of indicating to only publish one site to a folder and not all ??
    Thank you

I found the answer down in the question on iWebSites.

  • Permissions Manager - how to "forget" more than one site at a time

The Firefox Permissions Manager allow a user to "Forget About This Site" one site at a time -- but that is not a practical way to Forget hundreds or thousands of sites listed in Permissions Manager. Is there a way to select multiple sites to Forget, or to batch-Forget sites, or to Forget all sites?
    Thanks.

The permissions.sqlite file stores 'allow' and 'block' exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, and extensions (software) installation.

  • Publish just one site at a time?

I have two sites I'm working on, but when I go to publish just the one it republishes both?
Can I just publish one at a time?
If not, can I delete one site from the list but have it saved else where on the
computer and not have it DELETED completly?
    Thank you.
    PS: I love this iWeb!!!!!

    It's similar
to how I have to delete the index.html file that gets
created in the root directory every time I publish my
    personal site.
Yes, whenever you publish a data file, you get a folder for each site, plus an index.html that points to the site which is at the top of the list in iWeb. Inside each folder is an index.html that points to the page which is at the top of the list for that site.
Maybe it's not that bad. But either way, they should
allow you to have seperate sites edited and saved
independently and published to different locations.
This is a logical improvement to make, i.e. allow the user to save individual data files and then select them again, rather than having to manipulate them by hand or in separate accounts. A third party may well do it, as was the case for managing multiple iPhoto libraries I think.

  • Simply FRUSTRATED. How to work on more than one site at a time

I have three sites in edit mode in iWeb. But I can't seem to publish one at a time. It publishes the three different sites as one! H E L P ! !
I also don't know how to save them without publishing, since it seems clear that once I remove them from the editing field on the left, they are no longer openable in iWeb.
Thanks. I hope I just don't know which button to hit...

  • Can't Publish One Page At a Time. Please help.

    hi guys.
every time i try to publish solely one page to a folder, iWeb starts exporting all of the pages in the left-side menu i have ever created! how to avoid this? how can i publish/export only one page at a time? cheers.

You can't. That's one of the most widely reported complaints of iWeb: you have to publish the whole darn thing every time you update one page.
I've gotten so I publish the whole thing but upload only those pages I know have changed.

  • Opening more than one site at a time

I hope I'm at the right discussion group. I wouldd like to know how to open more than one site or page at the same time w/o losing one when I go to another site/page, which right now, entails punching in the previous info into iGoogle again, and subsequently losing the previous page/site again, ad infinitum. Sorry for the lack of proper terminology, but English is my new language and I have some problems still yet. thank you

I found this in "computer Glossary words" --"When you are browsing the Web and you see a highlighted and underlined word or phrase on a page, there is a good chance you are looking at a link. By clicking on a link, you can "jump" to a new Web page or a completely different Web site. While text links are typically blue and underlined, they can be any color and don't have to be underlined. Images can also serve as links to other Web pages. When you move the cursor over a link in a Web page, the arrow will turn into a little hand, letting you know that it is a link. The term "hypertext" comes from the way links can quickly send you to another Web destination."
I think I can get on now. Thank you for your time

  • Is it possible to publish one site to mac site and another site to a school

I have an "About me" page which I wish students to have access to - but I don't want them to have access to the rest of my site - can I publish either just the "about me" page to a different school server or can I create a new site with just an about me page and publish that site to my school server and my personal site to mac site?

    Yes.
The easiest way is to use separate domain.sites2 files. There are several sites that offer instructions for doing this. One is Apnewbie's Site Separation help page.

  • Publishing One Site Vanished Another Site on DotMac

Each time I publish a site to my dot mac account...
It gets rid of the last site I published to dot mac.
When I go a look at the www section of my dot mac account...
It shows ONLY the most recent site I published.
I can go or send people to the new site by giving them the actual address, but I would like ALL my sites to be visible in the www section of my dot mac account.
I am hoping someone can tell me what I am doing wrong here.
    Thanks.

Then why do they put anything related to the sites on
the page? If I had created this in homepage on .mac I
could go there within .mac and access all the sites.
I think if what you say is true it should be
considered a bug and dealt with accordingly.
I don't know if it's a bug or not. It's not clear to me just what purpose is served by listing 5 pages each from the HomePage and iWeb iDisk spaces on the .Mac homepage. I have many more sites than that which cannot be reached from the list, so I would not bother trying to use it for that purpose.
In any case it's a .Mac and not an iWeb problem and you might want to raise it in the forums devoted to that.

  • Publish one site in mobile me and one site on folder

Hi i have one site correctly published with mobile me. I created another with iWeb and I would like to publish on a folder only this last.
When I click on publish on folder, iWeb publish both sites on folder not only one. How can I do?
    Thanks a lot

To add to Terence's suggestion: I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.

  • Just Publishing One Site Out of Many

I have several different sites in iWeb 09. It appears that now in '09 when I publish it publishes any changes in any of the sites I may have made a change to a particular page. I want to work with a new site without publishing it to mobile me. I recall in'08 you can just publish the page you are working on and not any other page you may have modified.
    Any thoughts about this?
    Thanks,
    Marty

Because publishing is so screwed up in iWeb '09 I would say its even more important to build your sites on separate domain files. This is for convenience and also to get away from '09s nasty habit of renaming files.
I'm already having problems with a site I just built mostly in '08 and converted. It seemed to go well at first but now I'm getting all these irritating errors that seem to have no apparent reason.
The only way I have been able to get rid of them so far is to delete, restart and add again. This is a total pain.
I'm publishing to a local folder and catching these errors before I publish. No wonder people can't publish to MobileMe.

  • How can I delete my entire History file, without doing it one site at a time?

I am able to delete a given site in my History file by right-clicking on it and indicating to delete it. How do I erase the entire file when it is no longer of any use to me?

You can delete the places.sqlite file to remove all history.
Firefox will use the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder to rebuild the bookmarks.

  • Unable to open more than one site at a time. The + is not working at all.

A few days ago I suddenly lost the ability to have more than one web page open. The "+" will not open anything.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
    * Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
    * Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons

  • How to publish one of multiple sites?

Hi ~ I am trying to publish a new site, but do not want to update the changes I've made in my existing site.  Is there a way to only publish the new site?
    I'd appreciate any guidance.  THANKS

What version of iWeb are you using and where are you hosting the site?
If you have iWeb 3 just select the one site you want to update and useg the File ➙ Publish Site Changes to publish/update only that site.
If you're running iWeb 2 then you would have to separate the web sites into their own individual domain files in order to publish just one site at a time.
To split the sites into their own domain file duplicate the current domain so you have one for each site.  Rename the domain files for the sites.  Then open the Site1 domain file and delete all of the sites from it except for Site 1. Do the Same for each of the other sites. When you want to edit and publish site 3 double click on the Site 3 domain file to open it with iWeb.
