Publish RDP to the farm

Hi,
i have a 2008 R2 Remote Desktop farm and web access as well as a session broker.
I have two Groups allowed to login to the RDH and they both see different programs in the RemoteApp. One of the Group should not see the RDP Icon so i cannot use "Show a remote desktop Connection to this RD session host server in rd Web Access"
because it will be visible to Other Group.
Thats why im trying to publish an RDP Connection to the farm in the RemoteApp which can be seen by only one group.
i tried to save an RDP Connection and write the farm name, RDHS name in the RDP file then save it but and publish this file in RemoteApp it didnt work.
I tried to use the v:/farmname in the argument field it didnt work.
When i use "Show a remote desktop Connection to this RD session host server in rd Web Access" it works without any problems.
any help will be appreciated!

Hi,
As per my research the way which you are using to publish RemoteApp is good, as just need to create a RDP file and then publish as RemoteApp and can get your result. You can get more information on below link.

Hope it helps!

  • How to publish RDP

    Hi All,
    we have a following scenario:
    Server1 (win2012R2) - NIC1 15.1.1.2 Public IP, NIC2 192.168.1.2 - Internal IP
Server2 (win2012R2)- jump station to access internal resources, NIC1 192.168.1.3 - Internal IP
Goal - Users from internet must access Server2 desktop via RDP.
This would be easy to publish via ISA/TMG but we dont have such an option, and it cant be installed on win 2012 anyway.
Question: How do you publish remote desktop of internal server in windows 2012 R2?
    Thank you.
    j.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
You can perform your task by configuring RD Web access role on server. After configuring RD Web access server, publish (.RDP file of Server 2) as RemoteApp on server and then assign that file to the user you want them to access. They can access the RD web from
outside internet and can manage the remote session of the server (in your case server 2). For more information you can refer below article.

  • Excel Pivot (molap) will not refresh from an SSAS box that is not part of the Farm

I have spent hours trying to get this working going through many links.  One of the best ones is this.
    http://whitepages.unlimitedviz.com/2010/12/connecting-to-cubes-and-external-data-with-excel-in-sharepoint/
However even after doing all of this it is still not working.  Here is my set up.  I have a sharepoint 2013.  I am trying to connect to my DW SSAS server that is on a different domain and not part of the farm.  Everything else seems to
work but excel.  I have power view connecting and creating great reports with refesh working perfect.  I have performance point working.  I have Reporting Services working.  We installed adventureworks on the local SSAS farm version and
excel is working with this and refreshed just fine.  I can ceate and excel report and save it to sharepoint but when I open it I get the famous error.
An error occurred during an attempt to establish a connection to the external data source. The following connections failed to refresh:
I can open in excel and then refresh all from excel and all works fine.  I do not want my users to have to go through this.  They should be able to use excel in sharepoint.  Any ideas on what I am missing.  I have tried to follow exactly
what the link above says but still not working.
    Ken Craig

The first article is checking to make sure power pivot is installed and local ssas is running. This could not be an issue since like I mentioned I can create a Excel report to the local farm version of ssas and it opens and refreshed fine.  That
would mean that power pivot is installed and the services are running right:)?
The second article I have done over and over and I am pretty sure this works.  Again I can export to excel and it works just fine meaning my Data source is valid right?  yes I have chosen "none" as well.
The third article talks about the different viewers.  Mine is using
xlviewer.aspx so I would assume this is not the issue.
Here is what I am seeing in the logs but I am not sure what they are saying.  I used uls view somewhat like you would profiler. I started it tried to open excel and then stopped it.  Below are logs that look like they pertain to this action.

  • Store XML Publisher report in the database

    Hi all,
Is is possible to generate an XML Publisher report in the background and store the report as a blob in the database. I have an APEX application that needs to generate the report when the user clicks an 'Update' button. This report can then be accessed at a later date (via a hyper-link on another page) and will show the report that was stored on that date. Basically the report needs to be point in time.
    Thanks
    Grant

    Hi,
you might have your reasons to want to store the entire report in the db as an object ... But wouldn't it be simpler to just add an extra DATE column to filter, and generate the report at runtime?
What if the data changes in the meantime?
    Just, an idea ...
    Grtz.

No, there isn't. The way you're using the file is not recommended. You

  • How to find out logs related to which server, If i have 2 WFE's in the farm. How to configure logs path?

    Hi,
I got this doubt, when searching logs on the servers. I have 2 WFE's in my farm, I got an error from enduser. So in which WFE server i need to check the logs.
How to configure logs path. Is it is possible to specify logs path on our own instead of 14 hive folder.
    Badri

That is a really bad idea, especially with idle disconnects and other unreliability of CIFS.
You should instead check out the command
Merge-SPLogFiles which will allow you to combine ULS logs from multiple servers into a single file.
You can certainly specify your own path, but the path must be available on all servers. For example, if you specified D:\Logs, D:\Logs must exist on all SharePoint servers within the farm.

    Hello,

How to delete a published service from the service registry?
In the WS navigator I found only this operation:

    I miss the operation deleteService.
    Have you an idea?

    Hi all,
I have opened an oss message and now I have an answer:
Use this Service: ServicesRegistrySiService and the operation deleteServices with the logical key of the service as parameter.
The logical key can be seen from the SR UI in the details of the endpoints.

  • Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm

I'm just using a trial of a migration product called Sharegate and it has produced the following error when i connect it to my farm "Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm"
I've used the missing feature project from codeplex and the wssanalyzefeatures tool and none of them are reporting any issues or even for my guid.
Could anyone provide any other tips to try and locate this via powershell or the sql database?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got the “Feature GUID for list template 10113 is not installed in the farm” error.
The reality is that the feature is installed but has the old feature ID.
    As a workaround, you can
Go to the concerned feature in the 14 hives, you need to know which feature is concerned with that functionality.
Change the feature ID to the one raised in the error
stsadm -o installfeature -name <Feature> -force
In addition, you can change the ‘Scope’ attribute to either ‘Farm’ or ‘Site’ or ‘Web’ or ‘WebApplication’.

I spent some more time on this subject, and basically, if one steps out of the ordinary WebServices stuff (that is, using web.xml for declaring services, and deploying on a standard servlet container server like tomcat or websphere), then things are a bit more complicated. In the ordinary case with tomcat and others, it is the server that will take on an HTTP request, then instantiate the servlet, contain it in a container, and have the request handled. If you on the other hand want to define your servlets beforehand, and be ready to handle HTTP requests, the whole point is that one needs to find a servlet transport mechanism that can host the WebService. And there are not many options, with in fact the only one being referenced is the Apache CXF Servlet that is Spring disabled. It looks more as a dirty hack than anything else, but one does not have any other option, as there is no real servlet container implementation in javax(.servlet). Well, there is, e.g. the HttpServlet, but if you opt for that, then you need to do write your own SOAP handler to deal with WebServices.
I will give it a try to have the Helios Thing Handlers bind the OSGi HttpService, and have them register themselves as Servlets on the already present Jetty. I am curious how this work in term of life-time management, e.g. HttpService being available, or not and so forth.
In any case, the standard javax.ws API is working well, e.g. it creates a light and standard Sun provided http server, which is maybe not ideal, but it works wonderfully well.
Maybe one day we will provide not only a full REST interface to OH, but maybe also a full SOAP WebService interface so that OH can be interconnected with other services or parties.
