Publish to Folder -- Not enough privileges??

Hope someone can help me out here.. I have been using iWeb to update my existing web site. Seems to work OK save for one thing! If I make some changes, publish to my folder and upload the site it's fine. However, if I leave iWeb open and then make some updates a few days later and go to publish to the same folder it tells me it can't do so because I don't have enough access privileges or something like that. If I close iWeb and reopen, it publishes fine.
If this is a bug, how would i go about reporting it to Apple to maybe get it fixed in an update? It's not horrible, just mildly frustrating to have to close and reopen the program.
BTW, the reason I update my site frequently is I am a teacher and use it to post weekly assignments et. so it has to be updated once a week at the least...
Thanks for any help you can offer
Eric

OK, hold up. After I have edited my file(s) I DO save them and upload them. Then, as I said, on another day I may need to change something. So I go do that and that is when I get the error. Yes, I could close the program each time I am done, but I do tend to leave ALL my programs open for quick access. Other programs are fine with that -- Example, Word never yells at me that I don't have access privileges when I edit a file save it and come back to it several days later. If I'm an admin on my own computer I think I would have the privileges.
Also, I should mention I am the type of user that simply leaves my computer on all the time. I like having instant access to my files and apps.
so, I guess really the question still becomes why CAN'T I leave iWeb open and use it whenever I want like I can with all other programs?

  • Not enough privileges!

    Lots of stuff on the issue in general but cn't see anything direct.
    Have been told not enough privileges when installing downloaded applications. The latest was a Card Raider update was one yesterday not sure what it was. Both were 'drag and drop into applications' installs. Haven't tested a package installer app yet.
    Thing is the user I was in was an admin user. Yes I di check to see if he had been demoted. He had not according to System Preferences, and he was able to do some other authentications.
    I got over the problem by enabling root and using that account to install. However has anyone any idea what the source of the problem is, and what is the proper solution?

    Do you only have that admin user? You could use a second account to see if it occurs on both or just one of them.

  • Not enough privileges moving files on network.

    I have about 10,000 files to move from my iMac to Mac pro, dropbox. I get these messages "You don't have enough privileges or permission to copy xyz.jpg file " and it stops.
    It occurs all the time on different files. If I copy that specific forbidden file individually...I have no problem. These "permission" pop up messages are too much for me to handle. I might have to spend days to transfer all the files.
    Well, what could be the answer? Why are some files get copied and some not when I transfer in bulk?

    Do you only have that admin user? You could use a second account to see if it occurs on both or just one of them.

  • Cannot sync my ipod to itunes on new computer - not enough privilege

    I purchased brand new HP desktop (model M8517C) has Intel quad core processor @ 2.4ghz with 5 gb RAM. Tried to sync ipod to this new computer and worked partly for the first time and since it is not working. During the part syncing it deleted all previous data and now does not sync atall.
    Error "The iPod "my name - xxx" cannot by synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation.
    The current computer has only one log in account and so it does have administrator privileges and all privileges. I tried everything that I could think of wasting several hrs but it will not sync.
    I have obviously installed the latest version of the iTunes software. The ipod is 60 GB model from few yrs ago and I dont have any warranty.
    Will appreciate any help.

    Are you using the latest downloaded version of iTunes from Apple.com, instead of a version that came on disc with the iPod? According to this article, Windows Vista 64-bit required iTunes 7.6 or later
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1426
    Also, make sure you got the version of iTunes 8 for Windows Vista 64-bit

  • Not enough privileges to uninstall Avg Linkscanner through CCleaner.

    I've been trying to uninstall AVG LinkScanner for sometime now to install the Norton Anti-virus I bought, how can I uninstall it?
    I can't uninstall it through CCleaner as it says I don't have enough priviliges to do that operation. Can anyone shed any light on the situation?

    CCleaner has its place, browsers like Safari and Chrome cache history preferences can all use an easy way to get rid of all the junk they leave on your hard drive and is very safe and benign. As to using it to uninstall, it relies on the programs to have proper uninstallers themselves,which of course they don't. Norton is crap on Macs.

  • False error message: there is not enough space on your .mac idisk...

    I had four sites. I deleted one site and removed a ilnk to it from a remaining site. Now I get repeated errors publishing: "There is not enough space on your .mac idisk to publish your site" and urging me to buy more space. This message is incorrect as I have plenty of space left and anyway I want to remove things, not add. Please help me get published.
    thanks

    Have you tried asking this question over in the .Mac forums? Or even better, have you sent an Email to the .Mac support people?
    I've not experienced your issue with iWeb, so I can't really help out, however, I have seen the discussion about this problem several times in the discussions. You may want to try doing a search, if you haven't already, for this problem in the discussions and see if there is a fix.

  • File & folder sharing with privileges on my network does not work. What is wrong?

    My Timecapsule is creating a network between my iMac with OS 10.7.5 and my Macbook Pro Retina OS 10.9.2. I am trying to setup a folder on my iMac with controlled access privileges to work as a server for others using the Macbook as a client. I followed different tutorials to the letter, but it did not work, I could not get the connection. Then I called the Apple help line. It turns out that just setting it up with a 'sharing only' account etc. in 'sharing ' in the 'system preferences' is not enough. One also has to set up the same priviliges in the 'get info' window of the folder directly at the same time...so a double setup. They could not explain properly why and there is no mention of this whatsoever in any tutorial I found on the internet. Anyway, I tried that and it still did not work. When I add the user in the 'get info' window and press enter, suddenly the user does not show up in the privilege box with the user name but instead a line saying something like "searching for user" and something small dudeling next to it......I called Apple again. After two agonizing hours on the phone where I was treated like an imbecile it turns out one has to somehow go through the address book ??? Why, I have no clue and how, I do not remember, but suddenly it worked.
    Anyway, now two month later I had to add a new user account to my Macbook and I need to give it access to my server folder on my iMac. Well same problem again. I cannot remeber what we did 2 month ago an cannot call Apple, because my service period has expired. I tried myself and got the dudle in the folders 'get info' window again. Then by mistake I deleted myself as the only administrator account on the Imac from the access privileges to that shaered server folder. When I tried to put my account back into the folders privilege settings I got the same message and the dudeling thingy there too. Frustrated I thought it is best to just re-start the computer.......that was the end of it all: Now the startup window does not show my account name and icon anymore, just two lines to fill in the account name and password. The upper line has an arrow pointing left, the lower for the password an arrow pointing right. I filled in the account name and the password....the dudle circle comes and nothing happens, it seems to crash. When I click on the arrows the sign-in lines disappear, only the three buttons for going to sleep, re-start and turn off at the bottom are the only items left on the screen. I tried 10 times to no avail. This is turning into a nightmare!! My account is the only user account on this iMac.......
    What am I doing wrong? Or what is wrong with my iMac?
    Why is there nothing mentioned about these issues in the tutorials or anywhere else? Why do the tutorials say it is so easy, when even the staff on Apple's helpline cannot figure it out without having lengthy side conferences with their co-workers and managers???
    Does anybody know what I have to do again with the address book to add this external 'sharing only' user account to the folder's privilege settings?
    I assumme I have to re-boot my computer tomorrow and restore it from the Time Capsule. How do I do that? I cannot log in????
    With the setup I had working for the last two month there were still issues with acces conflict to new subfolders and files inside the shared folder between me and the Macbook account user. I have read that the solution is to create a group and give the group access privileges to the folder. However, I could not find any details on the exact steps to follow. I need the exact steps, otherwise this will turn into the next nightmare. Where can I find this info.
    I would really appreciate your help with answers and solutions to these complex issues
    Thank you

  • When I try to open Itunes it tells me that I do not have enough privileges to open this application.  How do I fix that?

    When I try to open Itunes it keeps telling me that I do not have enough privileges to open this application.  Can someone help me fix this?

    first, launch disk utility (in applications > utilities) and repair permissions for your boot disk.
    next, check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in the finder, right-click on it and get info. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and apply to enclosed items like so
    the important part is to apply to enclosed items !

  • Server has not enough memory for operation (Some .rpt files not removing from Temp folder )

    We have web application developed in ASP.NET 4.0 ftramework and published on IIS. And we are using 13_0_8 version of CR.
    I am creating report files and exporting these as pdf. And I am disposing streams and report documents at the end. Initially, there wasn't any problem and temporary files which are created by CrystalReport were deleting all. But, now requests to the web application increeased to about 50.000 in a day and now some .rpt files are staying in Temp folder and I can't delete them. After recycling application pool all files are removed by IIS. Then, after 1 or 2 hours new .rpt files are creating in Temp folder. And after somewhile, application throws Server has not enough memory for operation. And, IMHO the reason is temp files. Here is the code I am using to export report as pdf.
    Questions:
    1. Is the reason of this exception is temp files in Temp folder?
    2. What is wrong in that code?
    ReportDocument report = DownloadPDF.GetReport(id);
       MemoryStream stream = (MemoryStream)report.ExportToStream(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat);
       Response.ContentType = "application/pdf";
       Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + id+ ".pdf");
      report.Close();
      report.Dispose();
       try
       Response.BinaryWrite(stream.ToArray());
       Response.End();
       catch (Exception)
       finally
      stream.Flush();
      stream.Close();
      stream.Dispose();

    I've done it in the past, but I'm not able to do it now, nor am I remembering how I did it. When I highlight the Home Folder in the User's folder and try to make the alias, I'm told I don't have the privileges. Maybe I need to boot up from a different disk?
    I'm setting up a new 24" iMac for a friend. She doesn't like using Finder windows. She puts everything on the desktop.
    that's a bad habit. The desktop will become very corwded very quickly if you do this. I suggest she changes her computing habits.

  • You do not have enough privileges

    My ipod photo when i connect it to computer and itunes is getting this message:
    "The ipod cannot be synced, you do not have enough privileges for this operation"
    Can anyone help with this please?
    Thanks

    I had the same issue. For me, the problem was that my wife "owned" the folder called iPod Photo Cache in the iPhoto library folder that we share, and that I only had READ permission to it.
    The solution was to:
    1. Find this folder (/Users/Shared/iPhoto Library/iPod Photo Cache in our case) and open its properties (Get Info).
    2. Expand the Ownership & Permission section, unlock the Owner field, and change it to my user name (probably need an admin user name and password to do this).
    3. Change the Group Access and Others Access to "Read & Write" (if you want other users to be able to sync photos on other iPods).
    4. Click "Apply to enclosed items".
    I hope this is helpful. Good luck.

  • External Hard Drive not allowing Macbook enough Privileges - HELP PLEASE

    Hi all,
    Im new to the Apple Notebooks, bought my Macbook pro yesterday.
    I need your help with moving pictures etc to my external hard drive which is a Buffalo DriveStation 2TB USB 2.0...
    I've tried a few online video's explaining the "Change your import storage to the External hard drive" etc and holding and dragging into my hard drive but no hope.
    My mac pops up with something like "OS X doesn't have enough privileges" also another note came up "Microsoft Software is not supported on the OS X"
    Any tips or should I look for a different hard drive?
    Any help with be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jo.

    The drive is probably formatted in the Windows NTFS format. you need to format it in the Mac format. Mac OS Extended (Journaled) with a partition table of GUID. You do that in Disk Utility.
    Go to the Utilities folder in the Applications folder and open Disk Utility. Select the top most entry for that external, it will have the drive model and size. Click the partition tab and then select one partition from the Partition Layout area drop down. Make the Format as stated above and then click the Options button and set that to GUID. lose the Option window and click the Apply button. All data on that drive will be erased so if you have Windows files on it that you want to keep save them to a Windows computer before you start this process.

  • XML Publisher report ends up with Warning: not enough storage is available

    Hi,
    We have customized the AR Invoice print program (Invoice Print Selected Invoices) and have made converted the Oracle 6i report to XML Publisher.
    We have around 13000 AR invoicesin the system and when i try running the report for around 300 invoices, it works fine. When i try running it for more, It gives a warning and when i try to open the xml file to see if it is fully generated. I found that the XML File is broken in between and gives an error "not enough storage is available to complete this operation.".
    We have around 2 GB space in temp but we are not sure, why this is happening.
    Appreciate your help. Many Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kesava
    Can you check the $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT directory and see if you can see the file and its size? Maybe open it with vi or emacs and goto the last line and see if its complete.
    You might also check the OPP log for this request to see if there is anyting in that log?
