  • SQL error while publishing topology (During installation of LYNC server 2010)

Following error was observed during publishing topology while installing LYNC server 2010.
Error: An error occurred: "Microsoft.Rtc.Common.Data.SqlConnectionException" "Cannot open database "xds" requested by the login. The login failed.
    Login failed for user 'LYNC5\Administrator'."

Make sure you account has the relevant permissions and that you have run the topology builder as an admin.
When you publish and install the databases for the first time you will need permissions to SQL, I usually use an account with SQL sysadmin rights.

  • Publish Topology Failures after 1 of our Domain Controllers Failed

Please check your DNS Server if the SRV and A records for the old DC are still present and remove them. Then reboot the Lync server and try again.Technical Specialist Microsoft OCS & UC Voice Specialisation -

  • Trouble with publishing topology. Migration from Lync 2010 standard to 2013 standard.

    Hi,
I have a problem with "Microsoft.Rtc.Applications.Testbot". When I publish the topology I receive an error,  I've found many solutions to my problem. One of the best descriptions
    I've found here: http://lyncme.co.uk/microsoft-lync-server-2013/unable-to-publish-topology-a-trusted-server-with-the-type-mcxinternal-and-fully-qualified-domain-name-fqdn/
I'm going to do the same method, but I do not understand whether I should remove both entries or only one. If I delete the record 2010, will the 2010 lync continue to work?

    Hi Alan,
Lync is not that dependent on what is stored in Active Directory, and the topology builder should recreate any missing entries when it is rerun. I don’t think this operation is a high risk
for the deployment as a whole, but do be careful when using ADSI edit, it’s all at your own risk.
Here’s a similar case for your reference.

    Hope it can be helpful.

Take a look at this thread if you haven't already: Re: Schedule problems
Based on the error message, it appears to be an issue with privileges. Make sure the user specified in the error message has the privilege to access the report.
Also I believe usernames are case sensitive, so check that out as well..

  • Error when publishing topology after adding persistent chat

    Hello everyone.
I could use some help, if anyone has some pointers.
I have Lync 2013 Standard running perfectly - everything works fine (a/v, chat, app sharing, etc).
I want to add a persistent chat server, so I set up a Lync Enterprise FE server and created a new pool.
I set up a SQL 2012 Server for the backend, and created a separate instance for Chat. I changed the ports in SQL manager, opened the ports, added the FQDN as a C Name to DNS. Added it to Lync.
Every time I try to publish the topology, I get an error that the machine I'm publishing isn't found in AD.
(If I remove the chat server, I can publish the topology without issue.)
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Candee

I'm a little confused.  Did you set up a Lync Enterprise Front end just for persistent chat or for another reason?  You wouldn't need a separate FE pool which is what confused me there.
Why are you using a DNS CNAME?  Is that for the SQL server?  Why not just use the real FQDN?  If you're using a cname in the topology builder, than that's likely why it's complaining, because there's no AD object with that actual
    name in AD.
I might have misunderstood though, can you clarify?

  • Publishing topology causes high CPU times? What?

I have a mixed environment currently with 2 lync 2010 front ends (Production) and 4 lync 2013 front ends (pilot pools).
When I make a change and publish the topology all 6 2010 and 2013 front ends go to 100% CPU time.  IIS Worker Process is to blame and issuing "iisreset" on each server fixes it.
Where do I ever begin to diagnose this? No odd network traffic in packet captures, but I know right away when it happens as SCOM starts blowing up on CPU time and Lync conference join errors.

Each 60 seconds a task is run to determine if a change has been made to the CMS master and needs to be replicated. If a change was made, all replica need to synchronize with the CMS master. The replication may cause the high CPU usage. You should check the
duration of the High CPU usage. I think once the replication completes, the CPU usage will go down.

  • Lync 2013 Edge--Unable to Publish Topology due to port assignment issues aka sharing conflicts

    Hi all
I trying to setup the following , Single Lync Edge 2013, consolidated with single external IP address, but having issues
with the Topology Builder when I go to Publish.
This topology  builder setup for Edge Server  will not work:
    Access edge
    Port 443
    Web conf
    Port 444
    A/V edge
    5061
Error with in topology builder “…topologycontains one or more port sharing conflicts”.
It seems to object to the A/V edge of Port 5061….
Is there another port that I should be using for the A/V edge that is the best practice…?
Suffice to say….Other than Port “444” how does one chooses the other two (2)
     unique ports to avoid conflicts…?
    Many thanks in advance
    Magellan99

5061 is used for federation, and as such implicitly tied to your Access Edge service. If you're using single IP for Edge services, leave them as default as Thamara has advised.

  • XML Publisher Report Error

    Hi All,
I am trying to create an xml report from a standard oracle report. For that, I have copied the standard report's concurrent program and created a custom concurrent program by changing the output from 'Text' to 'XML'. When I run the custom report and took a look at the output of the concurrent program, I see the below error:
An invalid character was found in text content. Error processing resource 'http://...
    <DESCRIPTION>CD
    t:1em;text-indent:-2em">- <G_ITEM>
    <C_FLEX_ITEM>44-5555-66</C_FLEX_ITEM>
    <DESCRIPTION>ABCD W/O PRRS</DESCRIPTION>
    - <LIST_G_VENDOR>
    - <G_VENDOR>
    <VENDOR>VENDOR 123</VENDOR>
I see that the error is because, the xml parser has encountered a charecter '/' in the tag 'DESCRIPTION', which it is getting confused with the ending tag.
The charecter may be deleted if it as the case with the description of one item, but there are numerous item descriptions with / in them.
If this is the limitation of XML Publisher, could anyone please help me with the approach to create these kind of reports in XML Publisher?
    Thanks in advance.

Well, I figured out what the problem was.

The problem does not occur in test environment, just in production. Any help would be appreciated.
