Published Captivate 7 files are blank

I just upgraded my Mac from 10.9 to 10.10 (Doh!! - but it was free). Now my Captivate project won't publish. First time I tried, it asked me if I wanted to view it after publishing, and saying yes, it showed me a blank html page. No error, just no content. There are about 40 slides with fifteen audio files. My Captivate version is 7.0.1.237. Near as I can tell, this is the latest. Is this just punishment for upgrading to a new operating system to quickly?

This sounds like the answer a bureaucrat might give; technically correct, but not especially helpful. Adobe says they work closely with Apple, but it looks like they either didn't know about Yosemite, or don't care about their Captivate 7 users.

You can check for issues with the Windows icon cache and try to rebuild the icon cache.
# Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)

Installed CS3 symbol files are blank

We have Illustrator CS3 for Windows. We did not purchase the the entire suite just INDD, PHOTO, ILLSTR and ACROBAT. I tried to access the symbol files that are free with Illustrator. When I open say the MAP file, the pages are all blank. I checked the others and they are all blank pages. I recently viewed them at a seminar and they were available. The path is ZZ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS3\Presents\Symbols\.....
Can anyone tell me why the software would have been sent with blank pages? Is there a setting I am not seeing?

Did you access the Symbol files from Window>Symbol Libraries>(list). When you open one of the files directly, you need to look at the Symbol panel (Window>Symbol) for that file. All the Symbols for that file are located there. The file is just a way of making a library available.

Published php files are Blank

In Dreamweaver CS4 I can view and edit files. HOWEVER, when I "put" them they are published "blank" onto the internet.
There is the following error: news.php - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot put news.php. Access denied. The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem. Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Adobe support cannot help me they say it's in the .php scripting and code.

Published Captivate 2 Files in WebCT

I recently started using
Captivate 2 and it does not seem to Publish to Flash and
work in WebCT as well as the previous version that I used. I choose
"Export HTML" on the Publishing screen and click on the Flash icon
and it creates the following
4 files (my project name is FN):
1. FN.html
2. FN.swf
3. FN
Shockwave Flash Object
4. Standard
JScript Script File
In the older version of Captivate when you published you were
only presented with the first two files: 1. FN.html & 2. FN.swf
. You then had to upload both into WebCT and use the html version
on your organizer page. Now it doesn't work even if I upload all 4
files into WebCT. I have tried the "Standalone" version, but it
causes error messages for users.
Does anyone know how to make it work in WebCT?

Captivate 2 creates a "borders" file that is new to that
version. There are several ways to solve your problem, I think. The
simplest might be to construct your movie so the playback control
has its own "blank space" for display, then go to "Project >
Skins > Borders > (and) de-select Show Borders option.
If you do this, the playback control will use the bottom 35
pixels of your project for a display area, and the borders file
("_skin.swf") will not be generated during publishing. You would
then point to (link to) the "project.HTM" file to start your
Captivate movie, just like you did in earlier versions.

Published Captivate 5 files look distorted in MS Word 2007

I am trying to create handouts for my Captivate 5 project. I would like the following format:
- 4 slides per page
- Display Slide Notes
- Display objects and questions
When I publish the handouts to MS Word 2007, the slide images appears squashed (distorted). See example below.
The images should have a 4 by 3 aspect ratio. Note: when I publish the handouts in the "no table" mode (1 slide per page), the slide images look correct (but this wastes lots of paper).
Also, this problem did not occur on the same computer running Captivate 4.
I understand that it might be possible to modify the "Word Publish Template" to customize the MS Word layout. I'm willing to do this, but would like to get a copy of the "default template" to use as a starting point.
How do I fix this problem or get a sample Word Publish Template?

For the replace and delete pages, I can only guess that you are messing up some of the bookmarks or links in the page from what I think you have based on the description. I would work on copies between each stage so that you can at least go back to the last success stage. If possible, you are better to go back and do the modifications in the original page and the recreate the PDF. If that is not possible, then maybe a better explanation of how you are creating the PDF would help folks understand your process fully and suggest a solution.
On the latter, I would do a repair on Acrobat. However, it may be in the process you are using in the conversion from WORD. How are you creating the PDF from WORD? Have you updated AA9 and not simply have 9.0? The confusing point is that you talk about Distiller for getting the PDF from WORD. Distiller is often involved, but only behind the scenes and normally you either print to the Adobe PDF printer, use PDF Maker, or use the MS plugin for PDF creation. So when stating Distiller, it is unclear what process you are using since none of the methods I mention state the use of Distiller even if it is used in the background.

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox and use the Adobe Reader program or Preview instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document.

Since updating to the latest Firefox, internet pdf files are blank; hardware accelerator was already unchecked; other browser does not have this problem.

My Captivate 4 files are 10x the size in Captivate 6

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade from 4 to 6.
I load up old files and save them - this works fine for Capivate files based on PPT.
For the ones based on screen caprture plus audio, they bloat to about 10x the size. I can't deal with capivate files of almost a Gig!
Detail:
I took a project with 200 slides (128meg), and:
1) Loaded into Captivate 6 and saved (728Meg)
2) Cut it down to 5 slides in Captivate 4 (108Meg)
3) In Captivate 4 I cut and pasted the slides into a new project and saved it (2.8 Meg)
4) I then loaded each into Captivate 6 and saved it (15Meg)
5) I repeated 2, 3 nd 4 with 50 slides and got 10x the size
Any idea what is going on?

Most likely it's because Captivate 4 was predominatly AS2 and "old architeture" whereas Captivate 6 is AS3 only.

If it were me I would probably try and convert my Captivate 4 project to Captivate 5 and then from Captivate 5 to Captivate 6 to see if that helps.

Exported jpeg files are blank in ID CC

I just launched InDesign CC for the first time. After creating a simple one-page layout, I exported to jpeg and found that the resulting image was blank. Is there a new setting in CC I need to change?

25MB is quite a large filesize for a JPG, and this might be either quite a lot of pixels saved at a very "high" quality (not very much compressed), or it may be an extremely large number of pixels saved with medium compression.
While the technical spec of the JPG format imposes an absolute limit on maximum width and height pixel dimensions, some software employs a lower limit above which it considers the file to be invalid. Different programs, different limits, sometimes.
I have encountered this (for example) with pano stitched images using the full resolution of a large number of component shots - where JPG output could not be made, or if made, could not even be viewed as a whole by my standard image viewer (though TIFF was still OK even at still larger sizes).
If Lightroom has been set to a large printed size AND to a high ppi resolution, it is easy to get into very high numbers and very large output files. One should IMO at least question the utility and benefit of using very high ratios of upsampling from a standard digital photo - which may happen in some cases as a result of using the same output settings regardless, when spreading the same data across both small and large scales. If the file that was imported into LR really does provide an unusually high number of pixels expressing lots of detail, then that will better deserve such a capacious output file. Otherwise, each part of the file may merely show a very highly detailed representation, of a very blurry nothing-much-in-particular.
If the JPG has exceeded the viewer's size limits, a reported width and height of 0 may represent an error message, in effect - not actual reality.

Pdf files are blank when i try to print them from logic

whenever i try to print a pdf from logic it comes out completely blank. one day it just started printing blank pdfs, but i can't figure out why. i didn't change anything in my preferences, or install any new programs. any ideas? i'm using logic pro 8.0.2 thanks.

greetings ..if you want to print direct from the Score Editor do this:
1 - Select what ever you want to print in Logic
2 - Next to the Logic Pro in the Tool Bar is File
3 - Go to File>Page Setup
4 - You will see a box there with a percentage. If you print blank pages
this could be because it is 2 percent or something. Return it to 100% and
it should print.
5 - Another tip that most of us Score preparers do is to print first to the desk top as
a PDF. This will show you exactly what the printed sheet will look like. There is often
stuff you miss and this helps to proof read it and not waste paper/ink etc

AC3 files are blank

Hi,
I have had this problem before, and it wasn't solved, rather went away. I export a sequence to MPEG2, Dolby AC3. The video is fine, but the audio is blank.
I've tried various workarounds, but to no avail. It seems from other posts that this isn't an isolated problem.
Does anyone have any ideas? And yes - without wanting to sound rude, but to avoid unnecessary back and forths - I have exported audio before and it worked. This seems to be a random problem, but (like most problems of its ilk) it is around when time is tight!
Any help is appreciated.

for those in the same boat - it would appear to be a corruption issue. Something in the project is corrupted. I sometimes have a "cannot save project" issue, but I've never tied the two together. Anyhoo - workaround time:
When the empty AC3 arrives, back in FCP there is a project tab with a wodge of numbers (e.g. C3032838-67AB-45A3-B48E-67). I simply double click the sequence icon for those numbers and re-compress the audio therein. It works.
If anyone has a way of turning a corrupt project into a good, clean, trustworthy one - I am all ears.

All CAPTURE AND PRINT files saved on my mac are blank -what is the problem

I installed the Capture & print Add-on on my Macbook Air and captured areas of several web pages and saved them to a folder on my desktop. All the add-on files are blank with zero data captured.
What must I do to remedy this.

Loading Captivate 3 files into Flash CS3

I've experienced and read about making sure that streaming
SWF you wish to unload in AS3 need to be stopped, otherwise the
audio that you may have playing in the continues to play even
though the SWF is no longer disaplyed. I even succussfully do this
with a file that has audio streaming on the main timeline. However,
I am working with some some SWF files created with Captivate 3
(exporting to flash version 9), and I cannot detemine how to stop
the audio from playing.
The audio in question is what Captivate adds - the mouse
clicks and keyboard clicks - to captures I create in a browser, or
any other application. You can suppress these, but I'd rather
figure out this dilemma than go to that side of things.
I'm assuming that the sound effects in the Captivate SWF file
are no on the main timeline, and so I cannot control the playback
of the timeline. Perhaps the sounds are not timeline oriented, but
instead are sound ojects, I don't know. If that were the case, I
wouldn't know what to do to target them from the parent SWF file
and stop them.
Has anybody experience this or similar issues?

Hi learning_still and welcome to our community
Unfortunately it's not possible to do this. The best you can
do would be to open each version of Captivate. In version 3, open
the project you wish to "convert" to version 1. Note the dimensions
of the project.
In version 1, create a new blank project of the same
dimensions.
Now from version 3, copy the first slide. Paste into version
1. Rinse and repeat until each slide has been copied and pasted. I
haven't tried this, but you may be able to select *all* slides and
paste. That would save some time.
Note that any items that version 1 doesn't support won't be
copied, including question slides.

PDF documents are blank but epub documents are not

I have an install of ACS 4. Installed on the following.
Linux version 2.6.28.1-xxxx-std-ipv4-32 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.3.2 (Debian 4.3.2-1) ) #2 SMP Fri Jan 30 09:55:02 UTC 2009
I have a production license and I am able to fulfill books - both epub and PDF.
However, when I attempt to download/view the books in Adobe Digital Editions, the PDF files are blank. I should mention that the PDF files that are blank, are PDFs that I grabbed from public domain sites (archive.org). The epub documents that I grabbed from the same source, work find in Adobe Digital Editions.
I would also add that the sample books that are included with Adobe Content Server work just fine. So, I am to assume that there is something 'wrong' with the PDFs that I have.
Anyone see this before? Anyone know where I could look for answers?

Digital Editions supports essentially the PDF/A profile (plus some extras see the FAQ at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/faq/ for the full list). The most commonly noticed thing that is missing compared to the current PDF 1.7 spec is JPEG2000 support.
What happens when you view these files in Digital Editions before your package them?
