Published pages layout changes from iWeb page design why ?

In a couple of pages the layout changes from iweb design to published site, text appears out of place and headers mixed with body text ?
I have gone back to iweb but all is Ok within the file and pages visually, just publishing the site makes text changes to what viewers see

Thanks to Dale and Nigel at Bristol store who resolved this matter in a One to One session. Corrupt HMTL coding. All sorted now.

  • Edit page layout different from real page

When I edit the following page in contribute it just shows up
    differently than in the browser.
A bit annoying when trying to change the text.
    For the web page click
    here
For a snap of edit page in contribute click
    here
The Css file can be found
    here
Is there something that can be done to solve this
    issue?

I was.  What happened is those file property have to change in Master Page Gallery.   In property they got changed to "Design" file type.  I changed them back to "HTML-Page-layout" file type then they all appear again in the Design manager.
    Thank you.

  • Create pdf from Word fails at page layout change

I have an 87 page Word 2010 (Mac) document with both portrait and landscape pages.  Acrobat 9 (Windows) converts it perfectly to .pdf.  Acrobat XI (Mac) cuts file off at page layout change.  Is this a bug or have I missed a setting somewhere ?  I could convert in chunks and then remerge, but that would be silly, especially as the Windows version copes OK.

Can you print a Word document to the "Adobe PDF" printer?
Is there an Acrobat menu in Word, and does it let you make a PDF?

  • How to keep layout changes in other pages

I am just starting with iWeb and came across a question. When I choose a theme for a website and make the 'welcome' page, but change some layout things, colours, positioning of textboxes, is it than possible to copy those changes in the other pages like 'about' and so? Or do I have to copy the first page over and over? In the least case I will have a problem with the albums and slide show I guess?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. iWeb doesn't have the capability of carrying over layout changes from the first page to additional pages. If you plan on using the same theme frequently create a second site, add each page type that you might use, make the layout changes to each one and save. Then if you need a photo page in your working site duplicate the photo page in the "layout" site and drag it up to the working site.
You can send a feature request to the iWeb developers via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.

  • How to submit a bug report for OSB? - restore fails if number of items per page is changed from the default of 30

In the OSB web gui, one of my users found that if the number of items per page is changed from the default of 30, the restore of the file will fail.  He tested this using recent versions of Firefox and IE.  We have verified this to also be the case using Chrome.
In a directory containing over 100,000 files, moving 30 at a time to find the one to be restored is a very frustrating user experience.
How do I file a bug report for this issue?  Is there a workaround for this bug to enable my users to more easily find the file to restore without being restricted to the default of 30 items per page?

Yes there is a bug in the webtool in the current release. You can use the commandline obtool to do the restore, that is much faster and works fine.
    Thanks

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR WEBSITE ..FROM IWEB ..WHEN I USE TO USE MOBILE ME .. BUT NOW THERE IS NO MOBILE ME BECAUSE OF ICLOUD, AND ICLOUD DOESN'T SUPPORT IWEB PUBLISHING?

HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR WEBSITE ..FROM IWEB ..WHEN I USE TO USE MOBILE ME .. BUT NOW THERE IS NO MOBILE ME BECAUSE OF ICLOUD, AND ICLOUD DOESN'T SUPPORT IWEB PUBLISHING?

When MobileMe goes down the drain, you will need to move your website to standard hosting. Depending on your site size, I recommend A Small Orange, as the Tiny hosting plan they have is big enough for most iWeb sites and much cheaper then shelling out $6 a month for most of the other big names, and if you check out their forum, several of the members have coupon codes in thier signatures. Also, their customer service is great and very fast in getting back to you.
To upload, I publish the iWeb site to a folder, then using Cyberduck upload it to the host. Cyberduck beats iWeb's FTP uploader because Cyberduck only replaces updated pages, instead of uploading the entire site.
    I hope this helps!

  • How do you add a "top of page" button to an iWeb page?

How do you add a "top of page" button to an iWeb page?

    Two solutions:
    The Easy One:
Create a Form (which will be the button) and add text to it or choose a picture from iphoto. Now give the form/picture a hyperlink to the same site. So now if you press the button, the site will refresh and start at the beginning/top
    The advanced way:
    1. Publish your site on the web (not just local). Copy the URL
    2. Now create a Button like displained in the solution above. As Hyperlink you'll now have to set external site and paste the before copied link AND add the following at the end of the url:      #widget0
    3. Add a html widget to the top of the site.
    4. The widget's content should be   <a name="anchor"></a>
    5. Publish your site again on the web and look wether it works.
This way won't work, if the created site is linked as an iframe.

  • Can I change all iWeb page dimensions at one time?

I have website will about 50 pages.  I am now finding out on some browers that the top menu bar is wrapping.  I think I can fix the problem by increasing the width 10 pixels or so.  Is there a way to do this universally or do I have to change each page individually?

You have to do each page individually.
FWIW it is now confirmed that iWeb, and iDVD, has been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown and our websites and galleries will be lost. However, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
It now appears that the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on. However, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD. Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
Personally, if I didn't already have a copy I would purchase one to have it for reinstallation purposes if ever needed.

  • Iphoto book page layout changes with the addition of a photo problem.

I'm making a photo book of a recent road trip. There are times when I select a page,,, perhaps a page with 6 photos. The layout appears as the grey squares with a large vertical one on the left, 4 small ones in the upper right and a larger square in the bottom left (in the 'picture book theme).,,,,,, a really nice 6 photo page. I get 4 photos in on the page and when I add the 5th photo the page flips and puts the large photo on the right side while at the same time changes the photo with one of the smaller ones.
Is this a software bug? It doesn't do it on all the pages only at times.
It's driving me a bit nutz. Is there something i'm missing?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

As a first step I save the “wrong page” as a PDF from the print dialogue. That gives me a template for positioning guide lines in Photoshop that match the sizes and margins in the book layout.
Then I open that PDF in PS. You will be prompted for a resolution and colour mode, use 300 pixels per inch and RGB mode. (If you've ended up with a multi-page PDF in the first step, PS allows you to select a specific page to open.)
When PS has rasterised the page, press Apple + R and position your guide lines by pulling them out from the page rulers – you might want to increase the magnification to 200%. Align the guide lines with the edges of your images.
Now you can delete the dummy layout image and fill the canvas with white. (At this point you might want to save the image as a template for future use.)
One by one you can now precisely place your images and crop them along the guide lines – Snap to Guides needs to be enabled for that. Once you’re satisfied, flatten the image and make sure it’s in the sRGB colour space. If not, go to Image > Adjust > Convert to Profile... to change it.
I save mine as JPEGs at maximum quality, but for instance Tiff would work fine, too.

  • Changes from iWeb 08 to iWeb 09 - is there a complete list anywhere?

    Hi all -
I just upgraded from '08 to '09. Before I start mucking around too much, I'm wondering if there is a complete list of the changes out there somewhere.
    Thanks,
    roxpat

What a flippin' disaster. You were correct, Roddy. I updated one page on my website - the front page (very poor decision) - and iWeb 09 completely screwed it up. The WSYIG concept is totally gone from iWeb 09. Everything looked fine in iWeb itself, but when I uploaded it to the server the paragraphs were spaced differently, text boxes were larger than they should be and were placed differently than what they showed up as in iWeb itself. I spent a good hour just trying to make it look decent again.
This weekend I will revert back to iWeb 08 until I hear that 09 is working properly. Boooooooo Mac - what were you thinking???

  • Is it possible to widen the page view when drafting iWeb pages?

I'm drafting web pages via iWeb and figured out how to make the page content wider (in page layout/content width), but would like to be able to have a view of the entire page while I'm rearranging the text and images on the webpage. I cannot figure out how to be able to view the page without having to scroll left and right. Is it possible to see what the finished product looks like in its entirety before and/or after publishing to iWeb???

    iLyzzard wrote:
Seems like my iMac with a 21.5 monitor should do the job. The webpages look great online, but how can I widen my draft-view so I don't have to keep guessing as to alignment of my text and images? Please advise.
I'm not really understanding your question since the way things look in iWeb is pretty much the way they look online.
In what way do your iWeb pages not look like what you see online?
This is really a feature in iWeb (and one which costs iWeb excessive code if anything): to be able to provide a WYSIWYG canvas on which to build.

  • Page numbering start from any page

    hi,
i am workin on a small book and want to start and appear page number from page 9 what do i do? I am using InDesign CS6.

Page 1-8 need to be Sectioned using a different numbering system
Then you Go to page "9" of the document and start a new section and choose to start the numbering at 1

    Define sections in a document
In the Pages panel, select the first page in the section you want to define.
Choose Layout > Numbering & Section Options, or choose Numbering & Section Options in the Pages panel.
If you’re changing the numbering options for any page other than the first page of the document, make sure that Start Section is selected. This option marks the selected page as the beginning of a new section.
As necessary, specify the numbering and section options (see Document numbering options), and then click OK. A section indicator icon appears above the page icon in the Pages panel, indicating the start of a new section.
To end the section, repeat the section numbering steps on the first page that follows the section.

  • Text format change from iWeb to browser

Has anyone else had a problem with their text looking different (in both Safari and Firefox)? In one place, the font switches from 14 to 12. On another page, my indentations don't line up. Overall, I'm pleased with the software, but it is irritating that my website doesn't look as clean as it does in iWeb. Thanks.
    --Patrick

Yes, and it can be much worse looking at a page from a Windows browser. I'm currently struggling with "white space" at the bottom of the text box on the blog page. The amount of space is very noticeable, especially if the background of your text box differs from the page background. In this case it has to do, I believe, with font settings, type, size, justification, and line spacing, even inserting pictures into the text box.
Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done. Every browser renders pages differently. It is rather appalling that the iWeb team can't even get their WYSIWYG to match what is seen in Safari, but what can you do? You can either keep things simple or design for a particular browser audience. Something like 85 perent of people use Internet Explorer for Windows, so I tend to think that's the best solution, if an unappealing one.
