Published Site Doesn't Look Same as Local

Hello Everyone,
New and beginning user of cs4. I created a template and a few pages from it and am having a couple of problems. Using Vista Home premium which is causing incompatibility issues daily firefox 3.5 browser and fireftp because I can't understand instructions for dw ftp.
1) Using a template from the ones offered (two column fixed, left sidebar, with header and footer), I change the background color in each div using "find code." The site displays correctly locally but once published the gray background is still on header and sidebar (Spry menu color is fine).
2) While creating pages from the template, some of the pages do not display the background image of the template, instead they display the background color of the div containers. This is usually corrected after I make a change on the template and save the changes to the pages from there.
3) most annoying of all but not as important as above, I would like to get rid of the old/deleted files still displayed at the dw start up. how is this possible?

I've answered my own questions. When I reopened the template, the gray color was showing so I changed it again and resaved it. Don't know why that happened. It had been saved before. Also the other question about the annoying files- I've created five or six new files today and saw they replaced the old ones. Thanks anyway.

Published site doesn't look like my iweb site

Trying to launch my iweb 08 site www.nwhorsemassage.com using acornhost in Portland, Oregon. I thought I uploaded site using FTP and renaming homepage index.html. When I open it on my desktop it looks great, going to the site it looks like a mess without pictures, color, and most text. What am I doing wrong?

Think your problems might come from re-naming a homepage index.html. You don't need to do this and it can cause confusion because iWeb creates a separate index.html page on publication to a folder.
Have you uploaded correctly? When you publish to a folder your will get one large site folder with all your files and your site in it and then a separate index page. You need to upload both these pages ibn full and then place then in either the www or the public_html folder at your host or whatever is there.

Font in JTextArea and JTextPane doesn't look same

i have a porblem with displaying characters with Text Component:
here example :
JTextPane Mypane=new JTextPane();
Mypane.setFont(new Font("Courrier",0,13);
JTextArea MyText=new JTextArea();
MyText.setFont(new Font("Courrier",0,13);
but the characters doesn't look same !
can any one know why ?

Kerning doesn't look same in Photoshop

Hi,
Hope this finds you well.
I am trying to export a file from InDesign to Photoshop. It's mostly type of all the same font. However, when I export it to Photoshop, the kerning on some -not all- of the type doesn't look the same/gets worse.
Is there a way to resolve this?

Site doesn't look right after being published

I'm a website newbie, and I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. Designed my site, published it, used websafe fonts all the links worked. Look great in Safari on my computer. Then I tried to check it out on the PC with IE... yikes!! So I did some research and saw that's a common IE problem, so tried to view it in Firefox on the PC, looked worse. So I downloaded Safari for the PC... same problem, it looked terrible- text boxes were shifted, flash was coming to the front and covering links, you could see the bounding boxes on some of the pics. eeeeekkkk.

The site looks OK -- actually quite impressive for what appears to be a from-scratch design.
In Opera 10 under Snow Leopard 10.6.1, the design doesn't start to explode until the horizontally scrolling marquee comes across. I would strongly recommend just removing that marquee; it is an extremely outdated element of web design. If you do that, the design shouldn't blow up on you in other browsers.

Published Site Doesn't Fit in Explorer Window?

I created a site using iWeb 09, and published it (via mobile me during construction) and it looks fine & fantastic on my macs. However, the site is for a school, and I'm going to be posting it via ftp to their host. Currently, the page is so huge that PC users are reporting they're having trouble viewing it in their browser windows. Is there any setting that will affect this so I don't have this issue. (Most of the viewers of the site are going to be PC users...)
It's like iWeb is blowing it up after it's posted for Explorer users...

Magnification in the browser is user controlled.
I use a web safe font of minimum size 14 pt and, more usually 16 pt, so that most people can read the text easily without resorting to magnification and thus horizontal scrolling.

I can't figure out why MS Internet Explorer isn't displaying the main images on the front page correctly, is jumbling words on the back pages, and isn't displaying the "Share This" bar correctly. The site displays everything properly in Firefox, Chrome and Safari...argh! Hope someone has some insight...Thanks in advance for looking!

"tabs on top" doesn't look same wether window is maximized or not

I have the option "tabs on top" selected. But when firefox window is maximized tabs appear sweetly just right of firefox orange button (this is just fine). But when window is normal sized tabs fall under this latter button, leaving an ugly gap.
Where is the option to make the tabs fill always this gap when "tabs on top" is selected?
I'm using firefox on windows 7 os, with unmodified theme. I would like to post images as well but I can't see the link.

That is intended, you can change this behavior by adding a userstyle with the Stylish add-on.
# First install the Stylish add-on - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish
# Go to http://userstyles.org/styles/42417 and click on "Install with Stylish"
# Restart Firefox and you should then have a tabs in the titlebar on restored windows.

Site no longer looks like iweb

My published site no longer looks like what I have set up in iweb. Specifically, I've noticed that all lines around pictures, text boxes, etc. have disappeared on every page. I'm seeing this both in Firefox and Safari.
I've deleted the plist file and repaired permissions (I'm convinced, by the way, that repairing permissions does little, if anything, and is some sort of apple urban legend that people recommend when there is no fix left to suggest.)
Anyway, any thoughts or ideas? I'd rather not rebuild the whole site as it was quite a bit of work to get it where it is now.

Just published site - navigation bar doesn't work

Hi Everyone -
I'm brand new here and apologize if I'm about to ask something that's been asked and answered a hundred times. I looked through the questions and found instances where navigation bars are missing once the site has been published, but my issue is different (though the solution may be the same - I don't know).
I just published my iWeb site (www.thewordwise.com) and found a couple issues (my site doesn't fill the screen, but I'll wank about that later). My navigation bar appears properly at the top, but does not work at all. Only the Welcome page is accessible.
In looking through the various missing navigation bar questions posed here, I would hazard a guess that not all of my pages have been properly uploaded to the hosting site I'm using (godaddy) and that the solution may be to use a third party FTP folder? This is unfortunately Greek to me.
Any assistance would be enormously appreciated. Thank you.

I think you'll find that your navigation menu is not working as your image is overlapping with it - The Word Wise image. An image only has to be overlapping a little and it will then not work. Move the image down so that it is clear of the nav menu and it should then work.
As for your site name - the second is your site name in iWeb - you named your site that and you can change it so that it is not as long - do this in iWeb and then republish your site.

I have just created my First website using Muse and Its all been uploaded to my FTP server but i cant access the in browser editing which was the whole reason why i re-done the website for my client using muse

Yet i Can access my website fine "www.calmwood.com.au"
My ftp server responds to either the IP Address or the DNS Address www.calmwood.com.au
so i am not understanding how it thinks its different. when its fully referenced

thanks for responding. I read your link, looked at my settings and they were all correct. I tried to do a republish and got this message: The requested URL /childrenandcaring/index.html was not found on this server.
When I type the address in the address bar, I go to the site and the page says: This is the new site childrenandcaring.com
Any other ideas?

"Publish Site Changes" doesn't work on FTP

When publishing via the FTP option in iWeb I always have to "Publish Entire Site". If I only publish site changes, the site will no longer load when I try to load it in any web browser. Publish site changes worked flawlessly when I had my site hosted via iWeb but no longer works with a 3rd party host. I've tried publishing to a Folder (Publish entire site, then make changes, then Publish site changes) and then uploading via and FTP client - same result. Any ideas, or am I stuck publishing my ENTIRE site every time I make a change?

Please try to connect to your server using some third party FTP client such as Filezilla. If it works, please export your site HTML and use filezilla to upload the site. If it do not work, please contact your hosting service provider and get the correct FTP info.

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
