Published site has more pages that local iWeb files

I added several pages to my site. Then my hard drive crashed and my backup did not have the new pages. Now the published site has more pages than what i see when I open iWeb. How can I fix this? I want all the published pages also available in my hard drive.

You will have to recreate the new pages, unless you can use a file recovery service to ressurect the domain file that was on the crashed hard drive.
You can copy and paste images and text from the published website (view it in your browser) into new iWeb pages, but there is not a way to import html files back into iWeb.

  • Published site to MobileMe-Page that comes up is iDisk

I'm having a real problem publishing and viewing my site. I'm at www.cjhazer.com and have made the proper changes needed for CNAME alias and have entered my site name. When I publish my pages and go to view them, I'm given a login page and am directed to iDisk page. What am I doing wrong? I've followed the instructions to the letter.

I got my answer through tech chat. Using caps in my web address in settings is what caused the problem. All I had to do is change my address of [email protected] to [email protected] Easy peasy.

As far as I can see I have placed pictures on all the pages. I admit that on some pages I could have placed 3 or 4 pictures but I chose to use ony one or two. Could that be the problem?

    Yes -
Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos. You must either change the layout of those pages or place photos in those frames before you can proceed with this book.
The error seems pretty clear - you must have a photo in evey photo frame in order to place your order - so you must either change the layout (if you only want one photo on a page then use a layout with one photo) or put photos in the spots you have not filled

  • When I click on purchase book, i get message "Incomplete Book. Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos." I have checked the page layouts several times and no missing seem to be missing.

when I click on purchase book, i get message "Incomplete Book. Your book seems to have frames on one or more pages that do not contain photos." I have checked the page layouts several times and no missing seem to be missing. Any suggestion? page layouts and number of photos are consistent. several pages are identified as custom, as a result of captions added to several photos. I'm using a macpro and iphoto11.

There is one or more missing photo - typically a page background requiring a photo that is hidden behind a layout with photos in it - look through every page for that - any page tha thas a grey background rather than color is a problem - and it ccan be behind a full page photo so you have to check the page background rather than just look at the page

  • I use Firefox 'Most Visited' for easy access to the websites I use every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visted' list. How can I get it back?

I use Firefox 'Most Visited' to access websites I use many times every day. I inadvertently clicked 'Forget About This Site' on a page listing that I need. That page is gone, apparently permanently, from my 'Most Visited' list. No matter how many times I re-visit the page, it will not show up on 'Most Visited'. How can I get it back? Thanks!

Most Visited is an automatically generated list that shows sites that you've visited.<br />
If you delete the history of a site then you have with a visit count of zero.<br />
To make that site reappear in that you you will have to visit that site often enough to make the visit count match the other sites in that list or clear the history from other sites in that list.
You can make the Visit Count column visible in the History Manager to see how many times you've visit sites.

  • Problem updating pages that use .dwt file

So i have 45 files that all use the same .dwt file.  Usually when I make a change to the template and go file > save it asks me if i want to update all pages that use that specific .dwf file.  For some reason it doesn't show the pages that do.  Although if I go to the specific page for example contact.html and do a Modify > Templates > Apply template to page, it applys the changes, and then once i make a change to the .dwt file and do the File > Save, contact.html now appears in the section of files to be updated.  I do not want to go thru every page and manually apply the template does anyone have any information that could help me out? thanks

    However, that would work.
It sounds like your site cache has become corrupted.  Try the following -
    1.  Open DW's Site manager, select the site name, and click on EXPORT (make sure you opt to export the FULL site defintion including FTP info)
    2.  Export the site definition to a KNOWN location on your hard drive
    3.  With the site name still selected in Site manager, click REMOVE to remove that site from your list of definitions
    4.  Import the site definition you just exported - that should solve the updating problem
Does this heal things for you?

You need to upgrade to iWeb 09 to have that feature.
In iWeb 08 you publish to a folder and use a free ftp app like cyberduck to upload.

  • Published site has huge gap between content and footer

So i have just published my site and when i look at it after being published i have a good 2 inch gap between the bottom of the content and the footer.
I have read up on a number of bits and pieces and they say you mauy have a hidden container on the pages, which i totally accepted so i searched and nothing. I then thought it might be a issue with the master page i was using, so checked that. Couldnt see it.
However when i looked through my site and saw the master pages i used i had a mix and some worked and some didnt. Im lost!!!
I launch on Sat and its a bit of a pain. Has anyone had this issue? The preivew looks fine, so im not sure where this gap is coming from.
    Thanks in advance!

When Sticky Footer is checked, the footer will stick to the bottom of the browser window unless the page is taller than the browser window.
Glad that I could be of help.

  • Publishing site - get blank pages cos of rogue piece of script

    Hi,
I've been publishing a site to a folder and ftping to a server for a few years. Every time I update I need to remove a piece of code
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
from the beginning of every page. I was hoping that the latest iweb, with ftp-ing facilities (yippee) would have got this sorted... but alas, it is still there. Before I go in and physically cut that line out, it leaves me with a blank page. after I remove it, it all displays fine.
    Any ideas?

Your problem is cause by a misconfiguration of the particular server you are using, not the code used by iWeb, which conforms to international standards. See this note for possible fixes. It may be easier to change hosts.

  • Published site has "Â"s after each hard return.

I finally got my site to publish (not on imac), but after each hard return, and in some unexplained places, there are "Â"s and, periodically, another funky rounded "E" symbol. I tried to change the font to see if that helped, but it didn't make a difference. Any ideas?

That "test" is just to determine what causes the problem and in this case it looks like the server setting. It's not so much that it's "wrong" but, being a school, maybe it's just set up in the "old" way. Again according to the page:
"iWeb pages are in UTF-8 encoding so that they can accomodate all languages, not just English and those of W. Europe"
So, now that we know that the server is forcing everyone to view using Latin encoding instead of Unicode, you can either have them change it (and, again there may be a good chance they won't understand the request, but give it a try) OR change it yourself IF you have an .htaccess (or .charset) file.
At the bottom of the page, it mentions that if these aren't available to you, then you can open your .html pages with TextEdit (set to Latin) and manually remove those characters OR open your pages one at a time with Text Edit set to UTF-8 encoding, then do Save As and choose the Western Latin ISO.
If you can get your OIT guys to set this up FOR you, it will make a lot less work for you. If you can't, then it's not the end of the world, you'll just have to re-save all your docs (before uploading) so that their server won't display the problem characters.

  • Published site doesn't look like my iweb site

Trying to launch my iweb 08 site www.nwhorsemassage.com using acornhost in Portland, Oregon. I thought I uploaded site using FTP and renaming homepage index.html. When I open it on my desktop it looks great, going to the site it looks like a mess without pictures, color, and most text. What am I doing wrong?

Think your problems might come from re-naming a homepage index.html. You don't need to do this and it can cause confusion because iWeb creates a separate index.html page on publication to a folder.
Have you uploaded correctly? When you publish to a folder your will get one large site folder with all your files and your site in it and then a separate index page. You need to upload both these pages ibn full and then place then in either the www or the public_html folder at your host or whatever is there.

  • Creating a brochure/booklet that has one page that folds out?

    Hello,
I am trying to use Indesign for the first time,  I have created a travel brochure that is around 30 pages (3.75" * 8.375")
anyway I need one of the pages to fold out so the final unfolded page would be 3.75 * 3,  with print on front and bak... how?
    Thank you,

    Your example is missing....
    You have to ways:
    1. Create separate file for cover and make it dfferent size. That´s actually good way if you use different paper for cover, thicker or glossier etc. Because then your printhouse has to print it separately anyway.
    2. Use so called "Island Spread" which means create extra pages for your foldout (one for both sides), uncheck Allow Documents Pages to Shuffle from Pages panels menu and drag your 1. foldpagethumbnail in Pages panel to coverpage´s thumbnail so it docs to it. Do the same thing for your second foldpagethumbnail/backcoverpages thumbnail...

  • After I publish IWeb, unwanted hyperlinks show up in the published site.   How do I get rid of this worm?

I have noticed that no matter how hard I try to rid my published site of these hyperlinks (that I've never put in) certain words within the published site are highlighted and underlined and link to another source trying to sell something.  I've never put this in and think there is some kind of virus or worm on my Macbook Pro with Mountain Lion.  I've even deleted pages and started from scratch with a new page.  They are still showing up and multiplying.  HELP!  I'm on a Windows computer right now and don't know how to take a screen shot to show you how it works.  I hope my description is enough.

This has nothing to do with iWeb. These links are added on the server- probably due to the fact that you are using a "free" hosting service.
Contact your host to upgrade your account or choose another one with more appropriate facilities...
