Publisher 6.5 - unable to expand Rich Text Editor window

Hello,
We upgraded from publisher 6.2 to 6.5. Now when we go the Rich Text Editor - we cannot vertically expand the window. That option is gone. The problem is we have some content pages that are long, our content editors cannot view the whole screen to get a view, whereas they had the option is 6.2.
Since this is a java app (i think) - is there something in the config that would allow that ability to come back?
Thanks,

(guess you can paste in images from Word....)

We had the same problem with the Dutch Locale.
Switching to English, German or French got us the toolbar back.
Looking in the generated html for the Publisher Explorer:
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://<%your server%>/imageserver/plumtree/content/private/dojo/dojo/dojo.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://<%your server%>/imageserver/plumtree/content/private/dojo/dojo/nls/dojo_nl.js"></script>
Preliminary research finds a .js file missing, namely dojo_nl.js.
I made a copy of dojo_en.js, replaced all .en by .nl and it works.
Also the formatting needed changes for the Dutch Locale.
I think other files needs to be present. But i can't determine which dojo version is used.
It got us at least the toolbar back.
A support call was opened.

  • Portlet editor's rich text editor gives javascript error 'access denied'

I created a header portlet using the Publisher's published content portlet template. When I try to edit the portlet content using the rich text editor in the portlet editor window, I get a javascript error in the status bar stating 'access denied'. I can't even type into the rich text editor window, it's totally disabled. Not that I see anything in there anyway. I'm logged in as admin. I've gone into the publisher explorer admin portlet and even 'published' the portlet's content, but to no avail. When I try to 'add header portlet' in my experience definition and try to use this portlet, nothing shows up, where the header portlet should be is just collapsed so my banner is just the top bar view bumped right on top of the nav view. (p.s. does anyone know how to take the alui doc's suggestion of 'disabling the topbar view and nav view' so that I can construct what I want entirely in a header portlet? Anyway, first things first, how do I get that access denied message to disappear in my header portlet's rich text editor and how the heck do I get it show up? Help.

There's probably not a developer in the forum that doesn't uncheck that box the moment they rebuild their machine/ennvironment. Changing the format of error messaging is hardly a fix for the error itself. Personally, I'm uploading 'file content items' now. I create the content in notepad and then upload > file content item. Then create a portlet that uses the pre-existing (was installed w/ publisher using their pte) 'published content item' web service. Go into the portlet's settings and associate the portlet w/ the content item you uploaded. Voila.
As far as using their rich text editor to create new content, I personally have no need anymore. However I'm sure our content managers will probably have to soon so I hope our latest installation will accommodate them w/o error, because I've never been aware of an actual fix to this problem.

  • Print PDF rich text editor using BI Publisher

    Hi !
I have a CLOB field from database, and I store data using a rich text editor, like a MS Word system, here as you know, I can write words in bold format, use differents kind of colors, etc... and use all formatted text that the editor allow me. I haven't problems once save this data into table and restore again, I can see all this data formatted , and I don't loose any property of this formatted text.
The problem is when I want print this information in the same way that I can see in the rich text editor. I use BI Publisher for generate a PDF, when I send this field for print a PDF, the PDF that BI publisher generate, print only text, prints all characters including generating that text is formatted, for example, if the field is written in bold print "<b>hello</b>" in the PDF generated by BI Publisher see "< b. > hello < / b>".
Please which is the way for print the same as is displayed in the rich text editor?
    Thanks in advance.

Bump Again. I understand how to remove the HTML tags, thats not a problem. The problem is getting the report to print the data from a Rich Text Field stored in a CLOB or NCLOB as formatted text. Is there a "Master Style Template" or "Master Rich Text Field Subtemplate"?

  • Rich Text Editor functionality for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online

    Hi,
We are having a requirement where we need RTE behavior of SharePoint 2013 Rich Html Field for a custom DIV. The scenario goes like this:
    1. I have a publishing page
    2. I dropped the content editor web part and to that content editor web part I will point to an HTML file that needs to be rendered in that content editor web part
    3. I have one DIV in the above mentioned HTML files and I want that div to be editable and I need to RTE options for that DIV.
How to accomplish the above behavior?

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create html rich text editor for a DIV tag in a publishing page in SharePoint online.
You can create your own Rich Text Editor.
Here are some great blogs for your reference:

  • Rich text editor (apex 4.0)

using blue gray theme and a page with a rich text editor. Expanding the rich text options displays the text body p below the text area that persists even if you close the rich text options. Anybody know how to get rid of that behavior?

I think your mixing 2 technologies.
At 1 side you have xml in combination with xsl (style sheets used in BI Publisher and FOP) to generate your pdf. And at the other side you have HTML...
XML and HTML are 2 entirely different technologies which you can not mix this simple. I investigated the same problem as you had, and in the end I ended up using jasperreports instead of FOP.
Maybe BI Publisher has some html regions which you could insert into your word document but I doubt it cause more people have asked the same question on this board...
So my advice: use jasperreports (also it is free for commercial usage)
    Success

  • Portal Rich Text Editor in Firefox 3.5 Not Working

I'm using Oracle Portal Version: 10.1.4.0.0 (Build: 594)
The text item Rich Text editor works fine in IE 6 and has reduced functionality in Firefox 3.0 (scroll doesn't work). I've just updated to Firefox 3.5 and the text editor doesn't work at all now.
The user is presented with a grey box where all the text controls are squashed into the top left hand corner.
The following errors appear in the Error Console :
Error: element.children.tags is not a function
    Source File: http://xyz.example.net:7778/images/webword/WebWordMenuToolbar.js
    Line: 1
    Error: attachEvt is not defined

    Line: 76
(I've replaced our server url with http://xyz.example.net)
Has anyone else noticed this? Has anyone got any suggestions on what I can do to investigate/fix it?
    Thanks,

    Update :
There is a patch available to potentially fix the Rich Text Editor issues in Firefox
"The Rich Text Editor Does Not Work Correctly In FireFox" - Metalink Doc ID: 456512.1
or you can replace the RTE completely with a 3rd party editor :
"How to integrate third party RTE (FCKeditor) with Oracle Portal" - Metalink Doc ID: 352796.1
Using FCKEditor may well solve the issues but I only use Firefox for development. Our users use IE6 so I don't want to replace the interface unless I have to.

  • Rich Text editor in Webdynpro

    Hi,
With the new FormattedTextView in 2004s one will be able to render xhtml compliant rich test in Webdynpro.
This however only covers the rednering of rich text.
There still does not seem to be a rich text editor control available for webdynpro applications, which I think might be a common requirement for document centric applications.
    I was wondering :
1 - will there be a richt text editor control available for WDP in the forseeable future ?
2 - if not, are there any workardounds available to allow for the generation of rich text ?

    Hi Valery,
Well, I already thought of that kind of solution, but I do not consider it a very clean solution. I know WDP supports portal eventing. On the other side of such a scenario you could even do without a 3rd party wysiwyg editor, cause SAP does offer an html editor control in its set of HTMLB controls.
We intend to use WDP as a UI layer on top of SAPs KM. Our scenario involves template based publishing of structured documents (we first looked at xml forms, but they showed too many limitations). The idea is to model the document structure and content at runtime as WDP context structures (based on xml schemas) and then to serialize WDP context into XML content and metadata, with KM acting as business and persistence layer. Markup and insertion of images into the different text parts of the document however has become an additional requirement, which is why we are looking for a ways to fit that in our current design.
You could indeed think of some kind of data exchange between a regular portal component and the wdp application, but I am not too confident whether that is going to be a reliable solution.
PS : for the serialization of WDP context, your post in a different thread on this forum helped me a lot in my first attempts to create KM documents from data wdp runtime data (context). The link provided to the online book and your little example was very welcome. Thanks for that !

  • Using Rich Text Editor with a Custom Attribute

    Hello All,
Can anyone please tell me as how can I use the Rich Text Editor with a Custom Attribute?
I want to create a custom attribute based on text datatype, but when entering the value for this attribute in a Custom Item, portal shows a normal textarea. I want that the user should see the Richt Text Editor.
    Thanks for help.
    Regards

    Hi,
Can you tell me what steps you are using to produce this, and which Portal version you are using. When I tried it, I wasn't able to reproduce it. Here are my steps:
    1) Created Custom Item Type, based on Text, under
Page Groups > Shared Objects > Item Types
    2) Selected Three attributes (Description, Name, Publish Date). Note Text and Display Name were already selected
    3) In Add Item Wizard, configured list to allow for my
    custom item type selection.
    4) Then I was able to see the Rich Text Editor when editin
    my custom item type.

  • Div ids are not persisting in rich text editor of CQ5.6

    Hi,
I created a rich text widget and I added plugins. I activated "misctools" plugin also. I clicked on "sourceedit" and paste the code which contains ids for divs like -
    <div id="onboarding" class="row onboarding-content scroller">
    </div>
After that I clicked ok and again I opened the dialog. But I'm unable to see id. It shows only -
    <div class="row onboarding-content scroller">
    </div>
I also created "htmlRules/serializer/config" nodes of type nt:unstructured under the richtext editor widget. It worked in 5.5 but not in 5.6.
Whats the problem behind this? Please suggest me the solution for this. Let me know if there is any other way to persist div ids in richtext editor of cq5.6
    Regards,
    Arya.

    Hi,
Try this to persist div ids in rich text editor in cq5.6
Create a folder structure similar to "/libs/cq/ui/rte/core/HtmlSerializer.js"  in apps as "/apps/cq/ui/rte/core/HtmlSerializer.js". Make sure that the folder structure and node types are as same as in libs. Then set "idAttribMode" to "keep" in "_init" function of HtmlSerializer.js. It will work
    Thanks,
    Arya.

  • Is Content stored in the Rich Text Editor saved to the Database?

Is Content stored in the Rich Text Editor saved to the Database? We are planning a migration from our Dev environment to our QA/Staging environment and would like to migrate our existing content. We were told that content stored in the Rich Text Editor is stored somewhere in the Plumtree database. Is this true? If so, where in the DB (table/field) is it stored?

Some of the content from Publisher is stored in the file system.
    Look under: plumtree\ptcs\publishedcontent
there you'll find your preview and published content.

  • How to Change Width of Rich Text Editor

We are attempting to use a rich text editor. By default, the span for the RTE gets a width of 760px. This is much wider than we'd like.
The id attribute of the span control gets set to cke_<PAGE_ITEM_NAME_HERE>, so this jQeury selector should obtain a reference to the control and allow us to change or remove the width attibute
span#cke_P3_DESCRIPTION_2However, what we've notice is that the control does not exist until after the page has been loaded. In other words, if we do this in the "Execute when Page Loads" section, nothing happens
$('span#cke_P3_DESCRIPTION_2').css('width','');We can confirm this by popping up an alert. In the page load section, this yields "0" but, in a button on the page, that gets clicked after the page is open, it yields "1"
alert($('span#cke_P3_DESCRIPTION_2').length);So, since the control isn't actually there at load time, what's the best way to do this?
    -Joe

Thanks for this tip, VC! Worked like a charm.
I was having a problem with a rich text field in a modal region in one of the new responsive themes (theme 25). The page dutifully alters the spacing and layout of the page regions as the browser window is made wider or narrower, and the modal region also resizes appropriately. But the CKEditor window within the modal region stubbornly stayed at whatever value it defaults to (30 characters, which I guess translates to the number of pixels mentioned by the OP).
I slightly modified your code below to set the width property to 100% instead of a fixed value and now the editor window expands to fill the available modal region width. Perfect!

  • Broken links because of the Rich Text Editor

    Hi.
We are actually using the item type "text" to insert sorts of HTML code into our pages, specially when we need to create tables. Since we are using Internet Explorer we have enabled the rich text editor to use in item types text; it has a check box that allows the user to view the text in HTML format, so that is the way we build tables and also "href" links to other pages inside our site.
The problem is this: when I write the path for the HREF links I don't specify the COMPLETE path (that is, without the server name and the portnumber), but when I open the item for edit, the Rich Text Editor seems to be including the server name and the port number in my href path, even when I didn't specify it when creating it.
I need help with this, please. We are using this server for trial purposes, but what would happen when we move the entire site to another server? I guess Portal won't resolve the URLs, but we will have too many broken lists.
    Thank you all.

    hi guillermo,
with the release of the 9.0.4.1 patchset we now support a new enhanced rich text editor that has very good table support as well as support for relative URLs.
for detailed information please have a look at the following technote that we published recently on OTN:
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/PUBLISH_CONTMGMT/RICH_TEXT_EDITOR_TECH_NOTE.PDF
this new rich text editor should adress your requirements.

  • Rich Text Editor Options

I am working on a project that needs a Rich-Text Editor with
ability to insert tables, images, and more complex editing features

  • Using a different Rich Text Editor ?

    Hi,
I'd like to know if you're using a different Rich Text Editor other than the one provided by Oracle ?
Are you satisfied with it ? Especially in the management of images ?
    Thanks
    Max.

    there is a textflow component
    http://blog.flexexamples.com/2009/07/25/exporting-a-textflow-object-in-flex-4/
still exports to font tags unfortunately, but its closer than the richtexteditor. Its basically at the point where you could even write your own small parser and adapt the output to the format you desire.
