Publishing a Garageband Podcast to another webserver (not MobileMe)

Hi all,
Got a dilemma here that I'm sure some other people must have come across. I have a friend who has been publishing a podcast site for a few years using Garageband > iWeb > Me.com hosting (so iWeb is uploading all of the files, and creating the rss.xml with links etc)
Now I've made a Wordpress site for him on a new domain, and we have the mp3 side of the podcast working, but we need a way to publish the iTunes podcast so that the m4a files and rss.xml file all get to the correct place. The problem is that iWeb seems to give you no control over the folder structure and it's not going to work with the Wordpress site structure on the new hosting (we've got a /podcast-m4a/ folder where we want the iTunes podcast files to go, and where we want the rss.xml file to point to).
We could publish to a folder, then manually FTP the files up, but the links in the rss.xml file will be broken. We are using feedburner, so changing the location of the rss.xml file is no problem, we can just update it in feedburner - problem is publishing an rss.xml file that refers to media files in the correct place.
See what I mean? At the moment, the only solutions I can see are either building some sort of RSS generator that makes an rss.xml on the server with links to the files in our /podcast-m4a/ folder, or publishing the whole old existing site into a subfolder on the new one each episode, just to get the files up there so we can link to them, but ignore all the HTML files. Both of those seem a bit hacky for something which should theoretically be clean and straghtforward?

iWeb isn't designed to work in conjunction with some other podcast creation program: it has its own method and structure, and as it's principally designed for simplicity of use these are not reconfigurable.
You could use iWeb to publish to a folder on your server, and then in WordPress provide any necessary links to the media files and if required the web pages iWeb has created, submitting the iWeb-created feed to iTunes:
or you could forget about iWeb and make the podcast in WordPress - if you do this you should probably use the Podpress plug-in, but I'm not familiar with Wordpress and can't advise on that.
If, however you create it, the resultant podcast has already been running in iTunes, and as a result of your changes the feed URL has changed, you will need to follow the correct procedure as detailed here:

As you can't amend the original feed as required in iWeb you will need to download it, amend it in TextEdit in plain text mode (not Rich Text which is often the default) and re-upload it; then not use iWeb again with that server.

You can use any encoder to publish to FMS - you can write you own add-in to restrict any publisher - but you are right that FMLE add-in will work only for FMLE.
Actually i am not clear with your questions - Are you concerned that other publishers apart from FMLE would publish or you want add-in for other encoders - meaning do you plan to use another encoder?
If its first problem - you can do simple thing - turn SWF verification on - make exception for FMLE and have FMLE add-in - in this case only valid clients would be able to connect - even other encoders wont be able to connect - so if someone cant connect there is no way they can publish.

How can i move a podcast track from one podcast to another?

I subscribe to a number of podcasts and recenly some of them have started downloading to new podcast folders (One of them underwent a slight name change, and the others I'm not sure why). So now, some of my podcasts have two folders: one with the old podcasts and one where the new podcast download to. I want to keep all the tracks, because I reference them from time to time, but I hate having these extra folders. Is there some way to move podcast tracks from one podcast to another so I can consolidate these tracks?

My iTunes is set to automatically update podcasts and keep the last five episodes of each podcast.
However, iTunes appears to stop updating podcasts after several (five?) unwatched episodes and gives me an exclamation mark in the podcast overview. Clicking on that, I get the message: "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
This is not what I intend... and not what I told iTunes to do... (at least this my reading of the below settings)
This stopping is rather less then ideal: (1) if I am going away for two weeks, which I often do, I would still like to have the last five days of news, not the last five days of news back from the date I left, (2) I need to click update for approx. 20 podcast on regular basis, (3) my iPhone is synced to iTunes as soon as I come home, if iTunes does not have the podcasts downloaded, they are not copied over to the iPhone, and the iPhone will attempt to download the episodes via 3G next time I play the podcast on the go, (4) I am mainly using iTunes functions, such as smart playlists and podcasts, through another app (Plex, a fullscreen media player) and it is a pain to have to go to iTunes to manually do things. That is why this bothering me...
How can I get iTunes to behave as intended? (From reading through old posts I know that there is a Doug script adressing this problem, which I have just set up, but I would prefer to use internal settings if possible... maybe I am just missing a setting)

OK, that's how it is then.
The iTunes podcasts settings should be reworded in that case because it suggest something different from what it does. And, of course, it would be ideal for Apple to make this more flexible and allow users to set up their podcast downloads in their way and not be so motherly (c'mon, Apple, your users are not as dumb as you think, and they have uncapped Internet connections these days anyway)...

Subscribing to podcast in iWeb does not work???

I created and exported to iWeb a music podcast using Garage Band. The podcast correctly imported to my iWeb website, so you can visit the site and play the podcast their. This process also creates a "subscribe to podcast" button on the iWeb website, which is supposed to allow visitors to click it and the podcast will automatically be added to their iTunes podcasts library. Well, this partially works, that is, an entry IS made in the iTunes podcasts library, but the entry does not work. It appears to reference the full text page of the podcasts webpage instead of the actual music podcast, so when you try to play the podcast within iTunes you get an error message.
Any ideas? There does not appear to be a way to correctly point the iTunes podcast entry to the actual music podcast on the website instea of the text main page.

In case you're not familiar with the how the process is SUPPOSED to work between Garage Band, iWeb and iTunes, it should be a simple, 3-step AUTOMATED process:
1. in Garage Band, you choose "send podcast to iWeb". This exports the current project to an iWeb page as a podcast. (This works)
2. in iWeb, you publish the newly created page containing the podcast. I use .Mac, so my pages are automatically published to my .Mac account. (This also works)
3. On the webpage at the website containing the podcast, there is a button to "subscribe" to the podcast. When you click this, it is supposed to create a podcast entry in your iTunes library, under My Podcasts. (This is where the process stops working: the entry is created in iTunes, but it does not work - i.e., it does not appear to point correctly to the podcast itself, but instead to the webpage in general that contains the podcast, and iTunes can not identify the podcast from this.)
Hopefully, that helps. Sorry if you were already familiar with the process.

In Switzerland, 70% speak german but there is a large part speaking french.
As I am living in the french part of Switzerland, I speak french and NOT german. How to change my ebook and podcast applications from german to french? I don't want to see a book or à podcast in german anymore on those apps. In french, please! Or possibly in english. But NOT in german.

However, Apple does not control the laungages that e-books or podcasts are published in for a given itunes store. That is up to the publisher. Perhaps you should reach out to them.

As note already on the iBA forum [ AppleID for ibooks publishing ], you need two IDs. You can't use your developer ID.
If you already signed up for books with that ID, you need to talk to Apple to straighten things out.

Just downloaded the latest version of iTunes - iTunes 11.1.0.126. Even though I was already subscribed to all of my podcasts, there was a new Subscribe button next to each one. So, I clicked them. Now, every podcast in my list view is populated by every old episode ever published by that podcast. Worse, they cannot be deleted using my Delete key. Next to each old podcast is a cloud download symbol. My list view is now completely cluttered, making them extraordinarily long to scroll down through. Anyone know how to get rid of this major annoyance?

You can do it manually, but it is much simpler if you use a tool such as Back To My Mac, LogMeIn, or something like that. Those programs enable you to connect to your computer through your router without you having to adjust the router settings manually.

Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:

In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

Bug:iTunes 7 stops updating podcasts that I do not want it to stop updating

Some podcasts that I subscribe to are updated as often as every hour (for example, CNN's hourly update). I do not listen to the podcasts every hour, but always want the latest podcast there, or the podcast becomes useless. iTunes keeps deciding not to update those podcasts, and then I have to manually tell it to keep updating. There is no way to turn this off. Since I listen to a lot of podcasts of news shows and other content that is only useful to listen to soon after it was broadcast, this really degrades the usefulness of listening to podcasts in iTunes.
Apple needs to provide a way to disable this behavior, or even better, to allow users to set a per-podcast update frequency and maximum stored podcast count. (I want all available unheard podcasts for my comedy podcasts, for example, but I only want the latest one or two podcasts for news podcasts because older ones are no longer useful.)

I've also had the same issues, after upgrading to IOS 6.0, the apps in my iPhone 4 were crashing and the battery life run out very fast.
The only solution worked for me was to remove all mail accounts (Exchange/Gmail) from my iPhone (in settings) and then add them back.
The crashing were stopped! also the battery was back to normal.
I found the solution by first looking at the crash logs (in IOS 6). you can find them at Settings -> General -> About (at the bottom of the About menu you will find the option that opens the logs).
There i saw many logs about Low Memory crash. 99% of the logs were pointed that the largest process (use the most memory) during the crashes is "dataaccessd".
I search in the web and found that this process is a deamon process that reponsible the Mail accounts (like Exchange/Gmail) and contancts list.
I've installed the app "System Status - activity monitor" which shows important system info like CPU usage, Memory usage and running processes.
Before apply my solution (deleting the mail accounts) i saw that the CPU usage was very high which consume the battery very fast. Also i saw that the memory (RAM) was run out.. which probably what cause the crashing..
After deleting the mail accounts (at Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars) i check again with the System Status app, and saw that the memory and CPU were back to normal.
Adding the mail accounts back, still everything work ok

Let the Motion 5 designer deliver the map that he made. For example he made a title effect with the title "We Are Awesome Company Title" than you get that map after the head "Effects" map. So he must send that map with all the stuff in it to an editor and the editor place that map in Motion Templates -> Effects.
Restart Final Cut Pro X and there you go.
