Publishing Books with Read Aloud in Khmer

I would like to publish a book with Read Aloud in Khmer. There would be english text with Khmer translation and the audio read aloud is in Khmer as well.
Will iBook Store approve this type of book?
Kindly Thanks,

I don't see why not.  But nobody in these forums represents Apple, so the only way to actually find out is to give it a try.

  • How to make iBooks with 'Read Aloud' enabled?

Some books in iBooks can read the text. When one of these is opened, a little speaker icon appears on the top menu. How are these iBooks created using iBooks Author?

    Hello chinajon,
You can do this in one of two ways. The first is to have a prerecorded audio file that you can insert in. The other would be using VoiceOver to have that feature read back the contents of the page that you are on. Take a look at the links below for more information.

  • How do you add read aloud to a fixed layout book?

I have seen some ibooks (childrens books) with read aloud abilities. I know you have to do some programming but what program do you use to edit the code, can you preview it in ibooks (on ipad) if you modify the code, and is there a non-programming way to add audio/speech to your ibooks through ibooks author? Does anyone know the process or what steps and programs needed to add the read aloud feature to an ibook? (I know there are many others out their who would like to know the answers to these questions). Thanks.
Also, I have HD images (2000x1462) for my ibook in ibooks author and when I preview it on an ipad 2, it downsizes it to regular quality (like 1400x1200 ish). Since I don't yet own an iPad 3, do the images stay HD quality when an ibook (from ibooks author) is viewed on an iPad 3?

Okay, I just finished building my Ibook in Ibooks Author. I tested one of the free ibooks (Peter Rabit) and liked how it reads to you. I have read many articles and other posts here on Apple.com and everyone seems to want to add this read aloud feature. I have the Fixed Layout EPUBs Miniguide and iBookstore Asse Guide 4_8 and even though the miniguide explains things step by step, its like reading Greek. I am new to programming. Since I assume you are an expert, what I need is help getting started. I'm pretty good at figuring things out, I just need to get a jumpstart as fast as possible. (I don't want to spend a whole month trying to add this read aloud feature).
    1. I have a finished book but its not looking like the fixed layout kids books I see on ibooks. Is there a simple way to just tell ibooks its a fixed layout and get rid of the textbook features without using programming? (I know there are people out there who agree with me)
    2. I know that I need a XML SMIL compatable text editor (BBedit is the only one I heard is free and good). But where do I begin? Is there some kind of template of code where I just add in the code to get the book to read from audio files? If I edit the epub file, will this book still be able to be sent to the iPad through ibooks Author for a preview?
    3. I am familiar with Audacity so the audio part is doable. But the coding is scaring me. To add a word by word reading for the ibook requires more programming.
    4. Tell me a short list of what I need to do in order. I have all this information but its overwhelming because I hate programming. (I tried making an iphone app and gave up because it required Xcode, which is way out of my league). I don't know where to start from my finished iBook so what is the next thing I need to do?
    Thanks Jessica

  • IBooks read-aloud freezes

I have made a couple of fixed layout books with read aloud function, which are not yet published to the iBookstore. One with word-by-word markup, and one where I have just a single SMIL par-tag per page. They seem to have the same problem. At first they work fine in iBooks, but eventually next time I test them, the read-aloud freezes at the first word or page which has a SMIL-doc attached to it. That is, it will flip through the first pages but will not get through the actual read aloud words. The only solution I found so far is to restart the iPad. Then it will work for a while, before the same thing happens again. And that is not what I would want to happen once they are published.
Both books go through epubcheck 3.0.1 just fine. What could be the problem?

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

  • Read Aloud - How to get it to work?

What is going on with Read Aloud?
I have spent hours making forms ADA compliant.  I've checked them using Read Aloud in Acrobat Professional X and uploaded them to a test site.  Users need to test the PDFs, including turning on Read Aloud and checking how they are read. However, the users can't find a way to turn on Read Aloud.  They are all using IE10 browser and the PDF forms are viewed in the browser.
I've Google and searched and can't find a solution.  Anyone?

You must make sure the ACD USB hub is connected when you install WinACD. Yes, you will see the exclamation mark in Device Manager first before the install, but after you run WinACD, the exclamation mark will disapppear.
I just by accident, pluged my ACD USB hub into a different USB port, and the whole "Apple HID Monitor Control" disappeared. I had to run WinACD again to fix the link.
The lesson is that the the WinACD is not totally plug and play. But it's the best piece of software for you Apple Display.

These models are based on how long a reader has read an eBook. For example, you may borrow an eBook for a period of 30 days. While some publishers and distributors may charge libraries and resellers for 30 days from the date of the download, others may follow a metered pricing model and charge them for the actual time you read the eBook.
Percentage of the eBook Read: The percentage of the eBook read may be collected to allow eBook providers such as publishers to implement subscription pricing models where they charge based on the percentage of the eBook read.

  • Custom samples for read aloud books

I have uploaded a fixed layout read-aloud book and it needed a custom sample before it could go into the IBookstore. Imade one and reuploaded but now it says I still need a sample for the origina l as well as the preview. What am I doing wrong? In the asset guide it says something about type="preview" I assume that means that I have to insert something in the metadata of the preview to say it is a preview Is this right? If so can anybody tell me exatly what I need to insert.
    Thanks in Advance

You're not doing anything wrong.  I used iTunesProducer and got the same message.  So I called the people at iTunesConnect and tech told me it says that but it showed on his end.  A week later my Children's ebook was in the iBookstore along with my sample being available.

  • IBooks read aloud has a bug for reading epub 3 book

I have ten pages read aloud book. ibooks reads page 1 to 10 smoothly but sometime after page 5 it read aloud page 1 audio(it does not go back to page1) and then start reading page 5.
I closed the ibook reopen and then it works fine.
I am testing several times and it is not repeatable but occurs 2 of out of ten.
I verified my epub 3 book with validator and it works fine.

Didn't have time to do more than skim, but 'Ardour' looked promising. Protools is the only one I've used, the full product is one of the industry standards, but the free 'lite' version listed here seems to be limited to 2 in/out as well.
Referring to your original post, I'd think trying to write or 'script' something would be a nightmare ... synchronisation of streams within something like Applescript would be a major issue, quite apart from anything else.
