Publishing Crystal Report in Portal

Hi All,
I have a requirement of publishing Crystal Report query in portal which should point to BI server and execute, but not to the Crystal Enterprise Server for authentication. Can anyone has an idea around this.
Please reply.
Thanks in advance.
Ansar.

Hi,
so I assume you want to use the SAP Authentication ?
If so you would have to configure the SAP Authentication on the backend first and you can then use the iView template as part of the SAP Integration Kit to show the report in the portal.
You can find the details in the Installation Guide for the SAP Integration Kit available on help.sap.com

  • Dynamic publishing of crystal report in portal.

    Hi All,
My understanding of publishing Crystal Report in portal is using the URL iview, is my understanding correct.
I have checked this in [Integration of BOE XI3.1 into the SAP Enterprise Portal 7.x|http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/IntegrationofBOEXI3.1intotheSAPEnterprisePortal+7.x] wiki
and my question is, when publishing the crystal report from Crystal Report Designer, it is published in BI via the bw publisher and saved under some BW role. Is it possible to display the saved report in portal with out creating the url iview as an object of pcd in portal, i mean the report which is saved under BW role needs to be displayed dynamically in portal with out iview creation. Is this possible.
    Can someone comment on this.
    Many Thanks,
    Ansar

    Hi Ansar,
The Crystal reports can be used for publishinh good quality gralha and charts through BW. though making a URL iView is not the only option.
Good examples of Crystal report usage have been explained in the link below:

  • Publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal

We are trying to publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal.  So far we found that we always have to save to BusinessObjects Enterprise first, and then we found the ID from Crystal Reports in the InfoView.  After that, we put that ID in our iView using PAR template.  Here are our questions:
    (1) After we save Crystal Reports to BW server, how can we run that report from BW without saving to BusinesObjects Enterprise?
    (2) Can we directly publish Crystal Reports to SAP NetWeaver Portal without saving to BusinessObjects Enterprise first?
Thanks a lot for your answers!
    Paul

Thanks for the answers. From your answer, I believe what you are trying to say is that we need to save Crystal Reports to BusinessObjects Enterprise no matter what. We need to save Crystal Reports to BOE first, and then we need to have BOE in order to run Crsytal Reports.
    >> Yes
Then we can publish our Crystal Reports saved in BOE to iVew in SAP NetWeaver Portal. Wether we save Crytal Reports to BW is not necesary.
    > correct. That is your choice but remember that saving to BW does come with benefits such as an integration into transports.
This also means that we cannot just create Crystal Reports, save it to BW, publish it to SAP NetWeaver Portal, and run it from SAP NetWeaver Portal w/o BOE. Please correct me if I am wrong

  • Import Crystal Report to Portal

I'm investigating the possibility of displaying crystal reports in Portal iViews. Those crystal reports will be reading off BW and R/3 data sources. I've run into different questions and they are:
    1) Should I save the crystal reports in BW repository or should I activate them and move them to Crystal Enterprise (i.e. which option is better? or do I not have a choice?).
    2) Where should the authorization be handled? My guess is at the portal, am I right?
    3) How to get crystal report format (especially font and background colors) to change with the portal style, if the user change it at run time.
    4) and finally, has anyone gone through this before? if so, is there any resources or manual on the subject? please help.

I have done this using the iview template that is in the "migrated ep5 content" folder. I am just using EP6 SP2. With SP4 (and maybe SP3?) there is a template.
    1. I think the report needs to be saved in BW. It needs to be "published" as well. (See the BW documentation.)
    2. I think the authorization needs to be done in the BW. The reports are assigned to a role. The role is assigned to a BW user. We are using SAPLOGONTICKETS, so the BW user id has a matching id in the portal. The passwords do not need to match. (Don't forget to export the portal cerificate and import it into BW.) That is if you want SSO to work.
    3. Not sure about this one. I thought EP6 had something called "rendered iviews", but I can't find it. This is supposed to alter the look of a url iview to match the poral look. (I believe that a crystal report iview is basically just a url iview. It just calls a url http://crystal server/viewreport.csp(or jsp)?id=9999...etc).
    4. Feel free to email me at [email protected]
You could just use a URL iview if you know the url of the report. The params are just filled out in the parameters of the iview wizard.
The BIG hurdle I had to get through was the creation of the system(and alias) for the server where crystal is. The system properties for Crystal are missing from EP6 until you get to SP4 or SP3. I had to copy the par for the SAP system and add new properties for Crystal ENterprise. (seerver, path, and protocol.)

  • Error in publishing crystal report

In /crystal/rptadmin I am getting this error when publishing crystal reports
    <report name> [<technical name>]
0000000004 Item 1 was not found in the collection.
Has anyone experienced the same error before?

    Hello Donna,
in this case I recommend to post to the [dedicated SAP Integration Kit|BusinessObjects Integration Kits; forum.
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all SAP queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Publish Crystal Reports to the web

I have to see about using Microsoft Services to publish Crystal Reports to the web.One method would be to use Visual Studio.
What are the ways in which to publish Crystal Reports to the web, besides this Visual Studio?

You can use Crystal Reports Server, Edge or BusinessObjects Enterprise.  You can also use www.crystalreports.com

How you will see web report to portals? How you will publish web report in portals?

    Hi,
There should be some Portal team, or you might be having the rights to publish the webtemplates (Queries) to roles.
After this, there will be a role upload logging in to the portal in which you access web reports.
Once after your role upload process is successful, your reports will be successfully published to Portal and you could be able to run the reports from portal.
There should be some book mark (link) to the portal, which needs your username, pwd to login. If there is a portal team, which maintains the Portal, Please get in touch with them to get the Link of the Portal, and request them to assign you roles, so that you can publish the desired reports to role, Normally done from WAD, Opening the report to publish. There after do the role upload, by logging in to the desired portal with your Username and Password.
    Thanks,
    MD

  • How to publish crystal report designed using SAP Add-on toolbar

we have installed the crystal report designer V10 and the SAP add-on on the desktop.
we have designed a formatted report in crystal report designer using an existing BW report that was created using Bex query designer. After this we saved the crystal report back in BW to a role.
We have not published the report to crystal enterprise server, since the connection to same is not in place.
We would like to know how to publish this report in Enterprise portal ?
Can we bypass publishing the report to crystal enterprise server and publish the report on browser or through EP ?

  • Publishing WEBI report in Portal

    Hi
I am trying to publish a WEBI report in our portal.
I initially tried using the BusinessObjects Enterprise Integration Kit - IView Template, but have since been told via my OSS call that is the incorrect template to use, as that is for Crystal Reports only. I am supposed to use the URL iview.
URL iView is reasonably easy to configure, so I enter the URL and parameter for reportID.
Problem is that the iview only displays a small window in the top left area of the iview, and inside that small window the WEBI report is then rendered, making it unusable. I can confirm that the correct report is being rendered, as my variable prompts are appearing.
The report works from InfoViewApp or CMC.
The URL uses the openDocument.jsp page -
    http://<FQDN>:<PORT>/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp
If I look at the URL generated when viewing the report from InfoViewApp / CMC, then it uses something called viewDocument.jsp instead. If I change the url in the iview to
    http://<FQDN>/AnalyticalReporting/viewers/cdz_adv/viewDocument.jsp
then it works, but only if I have signed into the BOE server somewhere else first.
I have continued my OSS call, to see if this can be used, but still waiting on their response.
I am new to the project, and apparently this functionality used to work, prior to upgrading to SP3 for BO XI 3.1
Anyone with any ideas on how to get this content displaying in the full size window?
    Cheers,
    Andrew
Edited by: Andrew Lewis on Jan 20, 2011 12:27 PM

Seems the issue has been resolved, and possibly a caching problem all along.
I had a number of suggestions from OSS, which didn't seem to work, but then I decided to add the iview to a page, and add that page to a role. When I did that, it worked, and when I then ran the initial iview on it's own, it worked as well.
So for now I ensure the iview is FULL PAGE, and in the InfoViewApp settings I make sure it opens in it's own window .. I now have a nice looking report opening in EP.
The Integration Kit template still doesn't work, but I am reasonably happy to use the URL iview for now, other than worrying about to transport these iviews from DEV to PROD, as the URL will change, but that will be a different topic.
    Cheers,
    Andrew

  • Publishing crystal reports to web

Can anyone give me an idea of how to publish the crystal reports to web. I know we need Crystal Reports Server for that. Apart from that what are the other steps.

    Hello,
    there are some solutions:
    - Deploy CR Server and than the users could access the Reports via InfoView (Web Portal of CRS)
    - Shedule the Report as 3rd Party format (pdf, xls, etc.) to a webserver like IIS or Tomcat so the users can view the report via a browser...but that would be very static
    - shedule the report to a network share and deploy CR Viewer to the Client PCs. So the users could view the .rpt format.

  • Duplicate Object Name Error When Publishing Crystal Reports from BW to BOE

    Hi,
We recently upgraded our systems (all client and server) to SP2.7 in order to solve a problem with saving Crystal Reports to BW.  Now we are experiencing a new error when trying to publish a Crystal Report from BW to BOE (either all in one step from Crystal Reports application or directly from within BW).
Upon trying to publish a Crystal Report from BW to BOE, we get the following error:
"An error occurred while saving and / or publishing.  The return code 1 was returned from the server.  Logon to Crystal Enterprise failed.  Unable to commit the changes to Enterprise.  Reason: Failed to commit objects to server : Duplicate object name in the same folder."
We have repeated this issue numerous time with different reports, users and logon credentials and have verified that there are NOT any duplicate object names.
Additionally, in some cases, the report ultimately publishes to BOE, but with the above error interruption along the way.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Ingo,
Apologies for the delayed response.  We've spent a few days poking around with this issue, and had even opened a customer message for it (13641).
In the end, it seems that the problem was somehow associated with the "Prepare this report for translation." flag in the "Save to BW Options" dialog box of Crystal Reports.  If we try to Save & Publish with the Translation flag selected, we get the duplicate entry error.  If we Save & Publish without the Translation flag selected, everything is fine.
There are still some details we need to look into, but for the time being it looks like we don't have an issue anymore(assuming we ever did) as we're not concerned with Translation capabilities.
If we come across the problem again, I'll post again.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Publishing Crystal Reports for Enterprise error

When I try to publish a Crystal Reports for Enterprise report, using Publication options, in order to send it by email to three of my users,  it shows the following error:
    2014-07-03 10:20:32,390 ERROR [PublishingService:HandlerPool-1] BusinessObjects_PublicationAdminErrorLog_Instance_16070 - [Publication ID # 16070] - Scheduling document job "Users - with Logon Events" (ID: 16,077) failed: Exception in formula '{@Record_Selection}' at 'and (
    ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Larry") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Curly") or ({Auditing.Events\User Name} = "Moe")
The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula. (CRS 300003) (FBE60502)
    [3 recipients processed.]
It is weird because the report is one of those that are by default used for Auditing and it runs perfectly when I run it manually or by Schedule. The problem is when I include it in a Publication, so it can be filtered automatically based on the list of users.
I tried with another of those reports that come with Auditing, and it has the same problem. Is it a bug? Are you able to replicate this error in your environment? I'm using Crystal Reports 2013 sp3.

    Hi Abhilash,
I am able to open and edit other reports on the server without problem.  I believe that they are the same version and pack.  Here are my versions:
CR for Enterprise Version 14.1.3.1257, Build 2013 Support Pack 3.
SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform 4.1 Support Pack 3, Version 14.1.3.1257
When CRE displays an error like this, is there further information in a log or recorded anywhere else?  How does one go about finding details?

  • Internal error publishing Crystal report to BOE 3.1

Trying to add a Crystal report to a BOE 3.1 server, via a JSP page, but it keeps failing with an internal error.  Currently I am using code that came directly from a published example, but the jsp always fails when it gets to the boInfoStore.commit.
    Current error message is
An internal error occurred. An error was encountered. A description of the error
    is as follows:
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.managedreports.reportadd.internal.b: Adding
Crystal Report "TestUpload.rpt" failed. An internal error occurred.
I searched extensively and found people with similar errors due to version errors in required jar files, but I have checked extensively and I am sure all the jar files are in sync with the server, which is 3.1 SP6.
When I take the exact same java code and copy it into a program object, I can run it successfully, it just won't run when called from jsp.  Any suggestions?
A copy of the test jsp page is attached.

    Hello Benjamin,
Please try the attached sample to publish a crystal report to enterprise.
Convert the attached text file to JSP & do the necessary changes in the sample & if you want you can also add multiple crystal report path from your local disk in the code to publish in the enterprise in one go.
    Hope this help.
    Thanks,
