Publishing _Customer Issues
Greetings,
We have just completed a new product, published as flash
file; made it available on the web. We have our customer (actually
four different users) trying to validate the CBT for approval. Two
of the users can get to the web site but when they click on a
lesson they get a blank (gray) screen. Another user can view it
fine (had Internet Expolre V6. We thought it may be the version of
internet explore they are using V7. We are alos trying to address
their Active X settings.
Anyone with an idea would be very much appreciated.
Hi LDtwo
Check what version of flash Player they are running on their
machines and then compare it to the version that you published in.
E.g. if you published as flash Player 9 and the clients are running
7 or 8, then there will be some hassles. Personally, I reccomend
publishing in the lowesst format possible i.e. Player 7 wherever
possible

Hi,
We have customized a report (XML Publisher) in which our template is in XSL format.When using this stylesheet (.XSL) to print out PO's, there are some problems with the page layout, more specifically regarding the page breaks:
1) Extra empty page is printed - can this be avoided?
2) If the entire line block does not fit on the page, the line should be completely shifted to the next page (called "widow and orfan control" in MS Word) ?
How to avoid these issues? Replies will be appreciated.
Thanks,

APEX Database Configuration re XML / BI Publisher report issue
Greetings,
I have a problem that would be considered database related.
I am attempting to implement the APEX REPORTS functionality.
The process currently breaks for me when I have over 45 columns in an XML output in the APEX Reports framework. When I say BREAK, this is a very soft break. It just does not return any XML. The system eventually returns “no response” and then continues normally.
Looking closer at the DB, I will see the session hanging on, and not completing with very little information. These sessions will stay active for a very long time… possibly indefinitely. They are running as “APEX_PUBLIC_USER”.
The “current statement” shows as follows…
BEGIN
DECLARE
l_bind_values wwv_flow_global.vc_arr2;
i NUMBER := 0;
BEGIN
FOR c1 IN (SELECT c001, c002
FROM wwv_flow_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'SET_BIND_VALUES')
LOOP
i := i + 1;
l_bind_values (i) := c1.c002;
END LOOP;
FOR c2 IN (SELECT owner
FROM wwv_flows
WHERE ID = :fb_flow_id)
LOOP
wwv_flow_render_query.print_shared_query
(p_flow_id => :fb_flow_id,
p_format => 'XML',
p_xml_structure => :p1112_xml_structure,
p_query_text => :p1110_query,
p_query_name => :p1110_name,
p_query_owner => c2.owner,
p_items => :p1111_items,
p_values => l_bind_values
END LOOP;
END;
END;I have tested this on APEX.ORACLE.COM and I am un-able to reproduce the same issue. It runs fine. This leads me to believe that I have a database setup issue. The problem is that I don’t know where or how to discover.
Steps (for me) to reproduce:
1- Create a REPORT QUERY which has a fair number of columns (say 50 – 60)
2- Go through the wizard steps and finish
3- Review the Query – Option n the right (under tasks) – click on “Export Report as XML”
Result = session hangs creating a DB session which does not complete.
Footprint:
Application Express: 3.0.1.00.08
Database: 10.2.0.1.0
Connecting via a DAD connector from Oracle Application Server
BI Publisher connection
Suggestions are welcome.
Many Thanks.
--TimJust for the off chance that someone else runs into this, I am going to try to brief my findings on the subject related to this issue...
Previously, in the 3.0.1 version of APEX, our system would generate an OS process which would not terminate. Now in 3.1, it seems as though there is an error that is generated when this issue comes into play. I can, when attempting to get the sample XML from the REPORTS definition screen, generate this output when using the DOWNLOAD button:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
SUMMARY
TO RECREATE:
1- CREATE a report with a lot of "columns wide" (about 50).
2- Create a report using the GENERIC LAYOUT setting for REPORT LAYOUT
3- RUN or get XML by using the DOWNLOAD or TEST REPORT buttons from the designer page Report Queries>Edit Report Query
ISSUE: The generic layout has an issue in the code with size....
PROBLEM: When creating a new report - XML is not available in order to create the required layout. Without a layout, XML will not generate. Standard chicken and egg syndrome.
WORKAROUND: Create a DUMMY layout and assign it to the QUERY so that the proper XML output can be created.

Hi,
If a try to add a link like this:
http://portal.myorg.edu/portal/server.pt?open=512...
using the publisher editor, and save it, the link is Ok. If I reopen the editor, the link is changed to
"/server.pt?open=512..."
which is pointing to the content server name, instead of the portal name.
Any clue how I can disable this editor behavior, or how I can do a work around?
Thanks!
Val, GSB University of ChicagoVal,
This is an issue with the rich text editor. There are a few ways to work around this. One is to not use the rich text editor at all. Basically making the field a text box. Another is to make another property and call it link1 or something like that. Lastly you can create a content item that does a javascript redirect. This would require you to make a new data entry template with a field for the community id and page number. Then a presentation template that does a redirect to a pt opener location. See the docs for help on those. Then you make a new content item. This could be "comm page bob" for instance. Then in the original content item you highlight your text, then choose link from the menu. Then you choose the content item you created earlier, "comm page bob". This will make a working link that does not get destroyed by the rich text editor. I know this is not ideal, but this is the only way I know of. I have complained to BEA about this behavior many times, but I do not think it will be fixed any time soon. Let me know if you need any more help.

Hello, I've initiated a shared review via Acrobat 9 Pro, running Windows 7. The review is saved to a network folder, with a link location sent out internally rather than via the email service. All of my reviewers are using Reader X, and all have enabled JavaScript within their preferences to allow for the review. However, the issue is that the "publish comments" button works for some users, yet not for others. The issue users are able to view the document, add feedback, and hit the publish button, but the comments are not received by me or any other participants. Strange that only some are having the issue since they are all using the same software versions. Are there additional settings I need to have them set up? Thanks!
I would double check that all users have the right permissions to the shared drive/folder. It appears some users have read & write access (the users that can publish comments), while others have read only access (the users that can add feedback, but nothing seems to come through). To clarify: this would likely be a Windows/network issue handled by the network administrator rather than a setting you would change in Acrobat.
Hope it helps -
Hi Folks -
I'm having trouble with a caching problem in BI Publisher. Recently on some reports, after refereshing data in the source database I retrieve results that are not consistent with the source data. The problem has manifested in a couple of different ways.
In one case all the data in 1 column was presented as zeros, even though the database had the correct data (committed to).
In the second case BI publisher was displaying 4 rows for each row of data that was pulled from the database, but the 4 rows were not exact duplicates. Some columns had identicial values to the data in the source, and others didn't have any connection to the source data.
In both cases stopping and starting the BI Publisher service resolved the problem. But since it appears to reappear frequently (I've seen it twice today) I don't feel comfortable with this solution.
Has anyone else had problems with data caching and BI Publisher rendering invalid results in generated reports?
I'm on release 10.1.3.4
This issue has been observed when using XLS templates; I don't know if it occurs with other types of templates.
Thanks in advance for any insights!
- MacHi ,
In the Data Model --Under the Details tab we will have the option Cache Result ,Can just check that box is enabled...
If tht the case the data will be cached.
Thanks. -
AppV 5 SP2 publish\unpublish issues.
Citrix PVS 7.1 - Read Only Image
Appv 5 SP2 (excluding hotfix patch 1 -5) running on Windows 2012 R2.
Microsoft Redirected Profiles
Citrix Profile Manager 5.0
Package Installation Root set to a static disk accessible by all users.
Issue:
We control access to AppV packages using AD security groups which we publish at the user level. If we publish an appv 5 created application without redirected profiles applications will publish and unpublish succesfully. Enabling Redirected Profiles will allow
applications to be published to users succesfully but not unpublished when we remove them from the AD security group.
We have identified that when removing users from the group the application GUID persists in the user RedirectedProfile and two registry keys. Manually deleting the GUID from the users App-V folder will remove this, however the registry keys will return after
logging off and back on again.
We have tried to implement the AppV5 ADM and setup registry & file exclusions but it appears these are being ignored.
I would appreciate any recommendations or suggestions we could try to succesfully exclude these areas from redirecting to ensure the publishing and unpublishing applications to users works correctly.
Many ThanksDid you exclude the locations from Citrix UPM as per http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/user-profile-manager-5-x/upm-using-with-app-v.html ?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn774972.aspx talks about some topics to consider when using folder redirection of Appdata.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn659478.aspx has some advice on folder redirections as well, though _that_ might not be realted to your issue.
How do you publish the application list to your users? App-V Publishing Server?

Can I publish Single Issue DPS apps without the content viewer skin?
Hey - we're building an 'app' using Adobe DPS plugins in indesign, and I have a fundamental question:
When publishing a single issue iPad app to the Apple App Store, is there any way to do away with the Adobe-imposed content viewer skin? We have enough wayfinding and interactivity built into in the folio itself - we would like to get rid of the extra chrome surrounding it. (see below) Is this possible?
Thanks!No.

Presenter 10 Failing During Publish(New Issue)
All of our daily users(6) are experiencing the same issue that started last week. They start the publish process and it hangs at a point where it says something about audio conversion and then it closes down and there is no file.
Has anyone found a fix for this?Hi There,
Are you getting any error while publishing? Try to copy all the slides in a new blank project and try to publish it again. You can also try copying and pasting 5 slides at a time and try to publish to check with slide is causing the issue.

Hey Folks,
So I've bee running into a very strange issue, that just
started happening yesterday with one particular .fla. Every time I
attempt to publish the HTML file it fills the <!--text used in
the movie--> comments over a thousand times. Since I only have
one field and the text is entered dynamically I end up with line
after line of <p> tags. Anyone have any clue what the heck is
going on?
CheersHere are two examples created by two different students in the same lab using the same software configurations:

The first frame of this one displays only.

Here it is again with a new html page:

FCKEditor within portlet or Publisher - Licensing issues?
Hi Everyone,
I'd like to use FCKEditor (http://www.fckeditor.net/) within some portlets and maybe within publisher as a replacement for the out of box editor (although not sure about this one yet) but my client is (rightly) concerned about licensing...(http://www.fckeditor.net/license) especially since there is a "Commercial License - Closed Distribution License - CDL".
My understanding of this is that everyone can use the editor (personnal or companies) as long as it in compliance with the GPL, LGPL and MPL open source licenses.
Which in summary (from what i understand) consists of making sure that any customization to the editor needs to be pushed back to the open source community and that you cannot sell such customization within one of your product...
But i am not a lawyer and might be missing a lot of stuff...Has anyone looked into this, especially if you have used FCKEditor (or any other open source products) within some of your portlet code?
Thanks much,
FabienWe use the same for one our clients too and there have been no legal issues. So i guess u can be assured that there aren't any licensing issues.

Bi publisher report issues with selecting multiple parameters.
Hi there I have a Bi publisher report when I query it for a single parameter it works fine and gives me the result.
But when I select multiple parameters Lets say I have selected 3 parameters and try to view the results it does nt give me a proper report. It leaves me some blanks and gives me negative values.
The report is working finr for one parameter In order to select two parameters I added the following code in the sql query
and ( coalesce(null, :JOB_ID) is null
or c.JOB_ID in (:JOB_ID)) .
Can some one please let me know if this is correct or should I have to add anything else in the query.
Even if I hard code it by saying JOB ID IN ('x','y','Z') and try to run the report it is not giving me exact values.
BUt when I run the same query in database am getting correct values..
Can anyone help me with this issue please??
Thanks1. What version of BIP are you using?
2. Can you please paste here your complete SQL data model?
3. Can you get us an example how this will work?
4. Can you be more specific about the error you get and the output?
thanks

Replay Slide Button published HTML5 issue.
I know the script has been covered a million times over. I'm currently using the Expression cpCmndGotoSlide = cpInfoCurrentSlide - 1 Continue script. It works just fine with flash output and self contained PDFs. However, we're trying to make this training module compatible with droid tablets and all desktops so we need it published to HTML5 files without a PDF. The button works just fine in the HTML file on the machine I used to publish the file. As soon as I move all the files to a tablet or another desktop, the button no longer works. I'm using Chrome to play the HTML file on all machines and tablets. Does anyone know why moving the files would cause the button to stop working? Or a work around for this particular issue? Has anyone else seen this issue before?
Thanks for any help. Been trying to resolve this issue for a while now.Is it a smart shape used as button and are you using scalable when publishing? If so, HTLM5 doesn't like smart shapes used as buttons when publishing with Scalable. It's a bug that Adobe is aware of.

BI publishing report issue on HP-UX cluster
Dear All,
I have a problem about BW publish report .
Our customer has three BI systems (PRD, QAS, DEV) and three BOE system (XIR3.1).
Those systems are installed on HP-UX.
BOE QAS and DEV system used Tomcat, BOE PRD system deployed on SAP WAS.
SAP QAS and DEV system can publish crystal report to each BOE system.
But SAP PRD can not publish with error

I test RFC connection with SM59 and test RFC destinations in /crystal/rptadm successfully.
I also compared the RFC settings and User role between SAP DEV system and PRD system. But I did not any find difference.
This role had been imported in to BOE system and the SAP user has administrator rights .
Is there anyone can give me some advice for next step?
Thanks in advance!
WayneHi Ingo,
- are you using the BW publishing service or the SAP gateway ?
Customer used BW publishing service.
- does SM59 work properly ?
Yes, SM59 works well.
- did you create a trace file for the publishing already ? If not - create it and attach it do the forum.
I am not sure which trace do I need. Could you tell me the details?
Thanks a lot!
