Publishing edited photos to Facebook

Hi,
I want to publish a bunch of pictures (edited and non edited) onto Facebook, but only the original versions load up (that is, if I rotated, improved... a picture, it doesn't take the modifications into account). As a matter of fact, even within iPhoto I see the edited version in thumbnail format, but not if I double click on it (which leads to diaporamas all in original versions). I've been looking up on this forum and everywhere else, but I can't seem to find an answer, and it's really bugging me... Thanks!

How are you choosing the photos?
CHoose them in iPhoto and click facebook and the edited versions will be uploaded
Choose the photos in iPhoto and export them (file menu ==> export) to a desktop folder and upload from there and the edited versions will be uploaded -- to export the originals select 'kind = original" .
for a web upload click upload and in the resulting upload window look in the lower left under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto and choose the photos - the edited versions will be uploaded

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not help, set it up as new device, explained here:

There are a number of apps in the app store that allow you to upload photos to Facebook e.g. the 'official' app : http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/facebook/id284882215?mt=8 (it's optimised for the iPhone's screen, but you can upload photos from it)

There are a couple of things that could be causing this. Try:
delete your iPhoto cache
hold down the option key
in the Go menu in the Finder, scroll down to Library
in Library, find Containers/com.apple.iPhoto/Data/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhotoin that folder, find Cache.db and drag it to the trash.
delete the iPhoto preference file
do the same trick with the option key to show ~/Library
in Library/Preferences, find com.apple.iPhoto.plist, and drag it to the trash
if there are multiples of any of these files, drag them to the trash too.
delete the Keychain entries and do Keychain First Aid
in Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access
in the column on the left select login and under category, Passwords
delete all of the entries that include iPhoto or Facebook
in the Keychain Access menu, scroll down to Keychain First Aid, enter your user password, select repair, and click start.
Then restart your computer
new caches and preference files will be generated
you will need to reenter your iPhoto preferences
reenter your facebook user name and password in iPhoto
this should fix it.

When I import and edit photos on my ipad, the changes are only reflected on that ipad. If I upload the edited pictures to facebook, my ipad uploads dont reflect the edits?

I've recently started using my ipad to upload and edit photos. When I import the photos I then crop, enhance, etc and save the edited version. If I upload the edited photos to facebook, or even download to my home computer, the edits do not appear. On my ipad, only the edited versions appear, even when looking at the pictures uploaded to facebook, but from any other device (computer, iphone, or another ipad) the pictures are the original unedited versions? What gives- i'm saving the edits, and deleting any unedited versions?

This is the iPhoto forum. Iphoto does not work on the iPad, only on Mac OS X, so you need to post on the forum for whatever you are using on the iPad.

Edited photo isn't saving when sharing or emailing

Maybe this is supposed to happen? But when I try to "share" my edited photo via facebook, mobileme or via email, the ORIGINAL is the one that seems to be attached, not the photo I edited, even though the only option for me IS the edited photo (ie. I did not create a duplicate photo and email the original). Does anyone else have this same problem? Or is this just the way it is?

backup your library and depress the option and command keys and launch iPhoto and repair the library - if that does not fix it do it again and rebuild from the last automatic database backup

How can I upload my iPhoto photos to facebook, and not have them automatically publish?

I know how to share my iPhoto photos to Facebook, but it used to be that when I logged on to Facebook, I had to approve the photos being published, and had the opportunity to edit the album and then publish it. How I do this again, and not have it automatically publish?

Error publishing LR 4.1 photos to Facebook

I'm getting the following error message:
Photo upload failed. Returned error from Facebook: (#240) Requires a valid user is specified (either via the session or via the API parameter for specifying the user.
I'm currently using LR 4.1 on a Mac running OS X 10.7.4, and have published many albums to both my personal page and to another page I "own". For the latter, I typically create the album in fb first, then publish my photos to that album. I've made no changes to my LR settings, and have checked the LR settings in fb for things such as "posts on your behalf", etc. and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary. The plugin indicates that I'm authorized to publish and I have tried publishing these albums several times over the last week without success.
Any suggestions?

I too have just started receiving the same error. I have reauthorised the account, and also removed the app from my facebook settings to start a fresh auithentication, but this still fails. I have even reinstalled Lightroom, to no avail. HELP!
P.S. I too am a Mac LR 4.1 user

Problems solved! This was sourced from a comment on the interweb
"Debug:1169: Error reply from Facebook: (#240) Requires a valid user is specified (either via the session or via the API parameter for specifying the user.
I found out the fix.
Access your facebook fanpage when you are logged into your personal account. There is a new “voice” section and make sure “You are posting, commenting, and liking as the fanpage” not as your main profile. This will stop the error #240.

Can someone help me with a problem I have publishing photos to Facebook and Flickr

I am using LR4.4 on my HP laptop (Windows 7 Home premium) with Mozilla Firefox as my default browser. I was able to publish some photos from LR to my Facebook account early in October. I have some new photos to publish, but find I now can no longer publish to Facebook. I get a message – “Facebook authentication check failed”. I have tried to reset up publishing to Facebook within LR, but when I click on the Authorize in Facebook, I get a Firefox Error Message: “The address wasn't understood Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (lightroom) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address.” I have tried using IE as the default browser, but I get the following Internet Explorer Error Message: “The webpage cannot be displayed. Most Likely Cause: Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed.” From the Adobe website (helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/errors-occur-using-lightrooms-publish.html) I have unsuccessfully tried all 5 solutions to resolve this issue.
Other steps I have tried - I have removed the LR app from Facebook, then attempted to Authorize from LR. I can get through 3 steps in Facebook (request for Public Profile, accept Posting to Facebook, and accept managing FB pages), but the final step again fails. In Lightroom, after the authentication step fails, I note that the “Failed to receive authentication token” is highlighted blue. When I click on this, a popup appears (see below). I had found a suggestion that this should be changed (I can’t recall what the alternative url was – but part of it was …”export.facebook”…) but I’m not sure where this change should be made. I attempted to paste the new link into this field, but this didn’t seem to work either.
I have also tried to set up publishing of photos to my Flickr account. I go to the LR setup, which directs me to my Flickr account, and click on the authorize button. But again I get the same error message! I am just about at the end of my knowledge / ability to solve my Publishing problem. I would really appreciate you help and advice with this issue. Can you please help me?

That's telling you that iPhoto can't find the Library. So, where is it?

Disable facebook update when editing photos

Is there a way to disable automatic updates of photos which are part of a facebook album?
The thing is, when I edit photographs to be used for other purposes, I find it automatically updates the image contained in the FB album as well (well, the facebook album within iPhoto seems to only contain links to the actual images in iPhoto) . Whilst I can see that that would make sense occasionally, and it sometimes is quite nice to get friends' comments on year old photographs, by and large I find it rather annoying. Duplicating images would be an option, but then I'd quite like to keep duplicates to a minimum.
Is there a way to control the trigger-happy interaction between Fb and iPhoto a bit more?

I can't publish photos to facebook anymore using Iphoto...A small window opens requesting my FB email & password and to accept FB's terms. Once I add the info and hit "login" a message shows underneath saying: An unknown error occurred. Please try again later.
This started after I changed my password in FB... I tried to log out from FB; I quit Iphoto and deleted the FB account in Iphoto to re-add it; I went to Apps allowed on my FB account... and Nothing works!!! This is SO annoying! HELP????????

I am trying to update my profile picture and cover photo and Facebook advises to crop the area of the photo you want and select the area you want by dragging the area of photo , but every time I touch the screen it just zooms the whole page in and out and I can't turn it off :-(

If your email account offers a webmail access, I suggest checking the webmail - log in to your account using the webmail access, and I predict you will see all those "unread" emails there and can dispose of them from there.
This happens because the iPhone that went bad, when reading those emails, did not remove them from your email provider's servier.

Publishing photos on Facebook

I have done this so many times before without a problem and as it is so simple you would wonder why I have a problem!
I tried publishing photos to Facebook this evening but the "publish" button is greyed out so I am unable to.
Now - is it an iPhoto problem or a FB problem.
What can I do?

Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
* Create an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep such a cookie, especially for secure websites and if cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Private Browsing mode.
