Publishing from WAD & publishing from Query

Hi Experts,
1.) I see two options avialable to publish to portal, query level and from WAD. could any one explain why or when do we use these options.
2.) If we add a new web item to the existing default template like 0analysis pattern ? what will be the next steps... should the new template be replaced and published, where should it be saved or replaced ?
Please briefly enlighten me the flow from query ,WAD and finally to portal.
Points will be assigned.

1. Publish from query -> Default tables and charts, Publish from WAD-> you can show lots of Web objects like Ticker, Tables, Charts....all items part of yor Web template( now Scripts , command wizards help to display the way you want)
2.Add new to Standard template-> save as with your own name->Use your template in your Web templates

Is there a way to use Oracle Discoverer's EUL from XML Publisher to build a report instead of creating a query directly?
I'm just thinking of providing the ability to build fancy reports using XML Publisher to the end user that Oracle Discoverer doesn't provide.

Hi,
I have the same issue with XML Publisher.
I made a directory under the xmlpserver\Reports called Guest.
When i sign in with guest(without password), i can see and launch
my report.
But when use directly this URL:
http://mycomputer:15101/xmlpserver/myreportdirectory/myreport.xdo
the browser open the sign in page.
Is there a mistake on the url or the configuration ?

Publish cloud service fails from Visual Studio 2013 Update 4: Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.

I have a cloud service project with two roles (service and worker). In Visual Studio 2013 Update 4 when I choose "Publish..." from the "Solution Explorer", it opens "Microsoft Azure Activity Log" and quickly terminates.
Here the log:
9:43:47 AM - Applying Diagnostics extension.
9:44:09 AM - Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.
All works fine when uploading the package and updating from https://manage.windowsazure.com/. It only fails from within Visual Studio.
What can I do to get it working?

I have the same problem with our Azure project. Two web roles (service and worker). Just updated from SDK2.2 to SDK2.5 and Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 to Update 4. The main reason behind this was to move from log4net to WAD and in doing so, of course directly
move to the new diagnostics version.
Now, I get the same error message in Visual Studio:
11:45:24 - Checking for Remote Desktop certificate...
11:45:25 - Applying Diagnostics extension.
11:45:45 - Published Asset Entry for Image Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml not found.
With my small testing project - also two roles (service and worker) - everything is fine. However, I'm looking for a solution to make by existing production service working.
Also the test project shows no Microsoft.Azure.Diagnostics_PaaSDiagnostics_europeall_manifest.xml,
but this is no problem - so what's the meaning of or solution to this error messages?
What I found so far:
I deployed the Azure project from the same development environment to another Azure test service: Deployment
showed no errors and the service is running fine! So the problem is not with the source, the development environment, library dependencies etc.
Trying Azure cmdlets for PowerShell also work fine for the new service and fails for the production service with almost the same error message:

The problem seems to be related to those service configuration parts in the cloud which are not replaced

Passing parameter to an xsl template from BI Publishe

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to pass a parameter directly from BI Publisher to the xsl template.
XML files are used as Datassource here. The requirement is that the user needs to pass on a value that is not present in this XML file for eg ( a word like "
"Google" or "Yahoo" or "BIP" and I need to take that value and construct an url out of it. The url would be "www.google.com" or "www.yahoo.com" or "www.BIP.com".
The parameter passed would in no way be used to filter out any data coming from the xml files, and is used only for building this url.
I have used parameters to filter out data for report template where the datasource is Sql. The parameter passed would be used to filter out data . I donot know how we can pass a parameter value without filtering out the result set, but use it in the report.
Basically I need my BI Publisher report to have 2 datasource,
1) the xml data file and the template uploaded would use this to generate the report, and
2) the value passed by the user declared as parameter in BI Publisher which would be used to generate the url.
Please let me know if this is possible

Use data template, Check datatemplate, how to pass parameter. - search this forum, i have answered it many times.
create parameter and say , include parameter as true. it will be added to the xml in the top.
You dont have to use it necessarily in the sql query.
The parameter will there in the xml, and you can use in any template type.

Header and footer in PDF files generated from Business Publisher

Printing on Pre-printed stationary from XML Publisher

Hi,
I have a requirement where a report is to be printed on pre-printed stationary from XML Publisher. The stationary would be NCR paper and has to be printed from a dot matrix printer.
My first question is whether report generated from XMLP can be printed thro'
dot matrix printer, coz as far as i know it takes only character format .If yes, do we need any special handling?
If anybody has any experience related to this problem, please let me know the approach.

I see what you've got.
It is not uncommon to use character mode output for pre-printed stationery.
This would appear as draft output from a Dot Matrix printer. I hope you understand what I mean here. It is somthing like printing using fixed width font.
Design and run the report with MODE=CHARACTER from the command line.
You need to figure out and design the layout in such a way that you are printing in the empty spaces provided in the pre-printed stationery. This is usually by trial and error method. You may probably blow several pre-printed stationery sheets before you get it right.

Problem calling a web Service from BI Publisher (10.1.3.2 )

We have published a PL/SQL Web Service (from Jdeveloper 10.1.3 ) into a SOA Suite server.
As requirements from BI Publisher , we chose Document/Literal, SOAP 1.1.
The Program Unit accept an input parameter (we tried NUMBER & STRING)
The result is an XML formatted (PL/SQL functions returns a CLOB then converted as a String).
When testing the Service call from the SOA Suite console, no problems.
We declined a page with APEX to test this Web Service too : Test is OK
We added this web service as a data source in BI Publisher :
After typing WSDL URL, Method, Parameter
After testing , we do not get the XML result but an error message, coming from Apache AXIS (seems to be the DynamicInvoker) :

I can't say I know the answer but I wanted to share a thought on debugging the issue. Like you I am seeing an axis error for a parameter on a web service I know works. I can call it using BPEL, SoapUI, etc... I suspect that perhaps BI pub is having trouble interpreting the WSDL for the web service. Specifically, I suspect that since I have imported schemas in the WSDL and nested imports in the supporting XSD files, the process is getting confused. The request message is fairly simple with three optional parameters but the WSDL does use an import via the WSDL. I wanted to share this since this problem often comes up with various tooling and I am lacking time to work out a test case to prove this theory out any time soon. I will try to post once I find some time to test this theory but it may be a while. Reading the results of someone else's test would be just as good!

The photos I have selected have already been imported so how and why do I do it all over again?
What do they mean by published albums? I categorize them into photo albums for organizational purposes after I import them from my camera or phone. So why can't I put them into a book now?
I have over 400 photos selected for a photo book for my child's graduation gift so how can I tell which photos I have to do this to?
Please help. Any insight wouyld be appreciated.

Give this a try: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

What that's telling you is that some of the photos you want to use are not in your Library but online in a gallery you have linked to. You need to download them first.

When MobileMe goes down the drain, you will need to move your website to standard hosting. Depending on your site size, I recommend A Small Orange, as the Tiny hosting plan they have is big enough for most iWeb sites and much cheaper then shelling out $6 a month for most of the other big names, and if you check out their forum, several of the members have coupon codes in thier signatures. Also, their customer service is great and very fast in getting back to you.
To upload, I publish the iWeb site to a folder, then using Cyberduck upload it to the host. Cyberduck beats iWeb's FTP uploader because Cyberduck only replaces updated pages, instead of uploading the entire site.
