Publishing iCal Calendars not updating...

So I've been publishing my ical calendars to my own server using an ftp based php script(as opposed to the usual web dav/.mac publish). I publish them to a phpicalendar page...something I can access from any webbrowser, and something I can embed within other pages. See here if you're interested: http://phpicalendar.net/
But my question is with regards to how iCal usually publishes calendars... If I "refresh" my calendars, it should not only refresh my subscribed calendars, but also republish my calendars...shouldn't it?

So I've moved on from this focus, as Google Calendar and iCal have opened up their software further.

  • Can multiple users alter a published ical calendar/to do list?

two people , both with .mac accounts and used to using and publishing ical calendars, want a shared task list and shared calendar. both should be able to alter both.
    is it possible?
    thanks
    e

This is exactly what a colleague and I want to do - and two more colleagues will want to join in on our shared calendar and to do list soon . All of us have .mac accounts etc. Surely lots of people would want this straightforward feature too....
We don't, however, want to have to swap our .mac login details with each other. If I understand you right Gotham, that is what your soultion is. Thanks but not suitable for me.
If iCal can't do this, why not? and what can?

  • Published ical calendar

Hello everybody, it seems not to be possible to set the way a published ical calendar appears. If I have a look at it in the browser the week starts with sunday. This may be a us standard. Here in Switzerland we start the week with monday... I know it is possible to change the settings by every user. But I want it to be ready as I want to show it.
Further: Does anyone know a good solution to export the calendar to a web editor, resp. to export a calendar as a website and then edit it in the web editor? I wonder why iCal does not support such a feature.
    Thanks for your inputs.

    Double post.

  • Publish iCal Calendar using Tiger Server

I've been searching for a simple way to publish iCal calendars using Tiger Server. Here is what I need to do:
I need one user to be able to publish multiple "studio schedule" calendars to the Tiger server...and I need all the regular users in the studio to be able to subscribe to it so that they can see what work they have scheduled for the day. The regular users do NOT need to be able to make changes to the calendar...they only need to see it. (and print it if needed) Only the studio manager needs to be able to see and edit the published calendar.
I called Apple support for help on this one and they told me they would have to charge me $695 just for me to be able to get help on this....which surprised me because I'm just trying to use their software to do something it is supposed to be able to do! LOL The only other suggestion he could give was for me to look to the discussion groups here for help....so here I am!

The first thing you need to do is set up WebDAV on the Server and share a directory. If you need instructions on how to that just follow this thread.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2793917#2793917
Once you've set up a shared directory you just publish the calendar to it from within iCal.
To do that, set up a calendar, select it and then select 'Publish' under the 'Calendar' menu. In the dialog box that opens up give the calendar a name without spaces. Select 'Publish on: a Private Server'.
In the field for 'Base URL:' fill-in the complete url to the server directory you set up previously using the WebDAV instructions. For example, if you set up a directory on the server called 'calendars' and the URL of the server is www.example.com you would put in 'Base URL: http://www.example.com/calendars'.
Now enter the 'Login' name and 'Password' for an account that has access to the shared directory as you've set it up using the WebDAV instructions.
Select the other options you want to enable in the dialog box and then click on 'Publish'. Now the calendar is published and available for others to subscribe to.
Now to subscribe to the calendar, just select 'Subscribe' under the 'Calendar' menu in iCal and enter the URL for the calendar. Using the example from above you would enter 'webcal://www.example.com/calendars/StudioWork.ics' for a calendar that was named 'StudioWork'.
You can also email the URL for the published calendar by selecting it in iCal and selecting 'Send Publish Email...' under the 'Calendar' menu in iCal.

  • Calendars not updating since getting iphone5

My calendars not updating since getting iphone5
Used to work OK  before I upgraded, but I can't see why it's not happening.
Other device is my wifes ipad and iphone

First check that all your settings are correct, that calendar syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the calendars you are using are in your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by clicking/tapping the calendar button in the top left corner of the application ), non iCloud calendars will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your calendars are in the iCloud account, you might try unchecking calendar syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling calendar syncing settings.

  • ToDo Items Not Appearing In Published iCal Calendar

We are a group of homeschool, high school students using iCal together. We each have MobileMe and use it to publish our calendars. Some published calendars show the users todo list, some don't. We have checked to make sure that todo items are published. We have followed all the suggestions found at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iCal/2.0/en/wr20.html. But we can't get the todo items to appear. The problem can be duplicated repeatedly with the same users.

    Hello pohlipit,
Thank you for your question regarding items not appearing in your Work Calendar under the Week view on your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
Are you able to see these entries under other views within the Calendar? Do the entries display with a lock on them or not at all? Is this account set up on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server with BlackBerry Balance?
    Thank you.

  • ICal does not update the organizer when moving items between calendars

I have two calendars: Exchange 2007 and CalDAV.
If I organize a meeting in my Exchange calendar, and later on notice that it is in the wrong calendar, move it to my CalDAV calendar, iCal forgets to update the organizer correctly.
The organizer after moving is "invalid:nomail". The consequence of this is that I can no longer edit that item as I'm "not the organizer". Moving the item back to my Exchange calendar is impossible for the very same reason.
All I can do after moving is delete and start over. Anyone experiencing the same problem?

Also, you can't move the event to a different calendar if you're not the organizer.

  • Calendar added in Google Calendar not updating in iCal

    Hi,
I added a new calendar (my hockey schedule from the leagues website) and it appeared in the 'other calendars' section in Google Calendar. I'm using Google Sync with iCal to keep them in sync. The problem is that this calendar didn't sync to my iCal calendar. When I add individual events in Google Calendar it updates automatically in my iCal application and vice versa.
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Brandon
    I'm using:
    Google Calendar and Sync

Here is something to try to see if it is an account issue or a system wide issue.
If you create a new user account and try syncing just the calendar events, does it sync from the iphone to the computer.
To test this open system preferences and go to accounts.
Create a new account, call it test or something.
    Log into the new account.
Open ical ant put in at least one event. If you do not put at least one event into ical, itunes does not know to merge the data and could erase the events on the iphone.
Once the test event is in ical, open itunes and go through the initial setup.
Then connect the iphone and sync just the calendar events.
    Hope this helps.

  • No longer can publish iCal calendar as a viewable webpage?

My wife has been publishing her business iCal calendar as a viewable webpage for many years. This feature is no longer working.
One can "publish" and send the email advertising the calendar webpage URL, but the link to mobile me is broken - the page will not load and ultimately times out and redirects to an Apple page saying that "We're sorry, your .Mac calendar is temporarily unavailable."
How do we share our calendars with others without them having to subscribe thru a calendar app?
This is very disappointing - calendar publishing was the whole reason my wife purchased mobileme.

The problem with Google Calendars is that you can't embed them inside your own web page like you can with iCal, unless someone knows something about Google calendars that I don't.
I've tried other calendar solutions, but most require more effort than iCal.
These recent problems may be temporary. Something far bigger has gone wrong with iCal... people are losing everything that they have put into iCal. Check some of the other threads. If desktop iCal app looks OK, backup NOW with FILE>EXPORT>iCal Archive. The problems started with the latest update. (You might want to avoid it for now, unless it's too late.)
I've been happy with web calendar publishing with iCal so far, but still look for other alternatives from time to time.
Sometimes loading is slow, and some of my site visitors claim it doesn't load at all, but I don't know what can be done about that.
You also have to keep in mind that Apple doesn't contribute to Apple Discussions (ever!), and who knows whether they read any of this. It's just you and I helping each other. Not ideal, but I've received some great advice this way.
Anyway, beware of the bigger problem of total loss of your iCal events!

  • Can Blackberry users subscribe to published iCal calendar?

I have published an iCal calendar to my MobileMe account. Of course, doing so generates a link which allows Mac/iPhone users to subscribe by clicking the link. PC users can subscribe to it through Outlook by clicking the link, and so forth.
There has to be a way to have BB users to subscribe to the calendar and get updates in real time like iPhone users, isn't there?
Just want to make a calendar available to parents on a sports team... thanks in advance for any advice.

    Greetings,
I'm afraid I am not a Blackberry user myself so I can't answer (although perhaps someone else in this forum is a RIM user and will have some additional insight for you).
What I can tell you is:
iCal creates a "webcal" publication on the MobileMe server. Any program / device that supports the webcal standard (iCal, iPhone, iPod, Outlook on Windows, etc.) should be able to subscribe to that link.
Your question really is "Does Blackberry support the webcal standard and if so, how do I add a webcal link to a Blackberry?" That question might be better asked of Blackberry users or RIM, the company that makes Blackberry. As they are the people that use Blackberrys / the company that makes the product, they would know the answer.

  • Proxy server and Publishing ICal Calendars

I am using Ical Calendar publishing via a "Private Server" The way I have to set it up is using a string like ftp://domainname.com/path-to-folder/file. Then I have my user and password in the login area for the protected folder on this server.
This works GREAT, however, I noticed when I'm at work and work has a proxy server for FTP I cannot connect to my domain and update - publish to my private server doesn't happen.
Would anyone know how to make ICal use a proxy? Having the proxy in the Network Prefs under FTP and the box checked does not work. Both passive and unpassive does not make a difference.
Is there a way to enter proxy information in the ftp:// string I am using?
I can get the calendars no problem. I know there is an HTTP proxy but ICal seems to be able to get through this fine?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    THANKS!

We had issues when we first published our calendars at work too. I am not certain that this will help, but you can try it. What we did was go to the Network Preference Pane and add the IP address of the Cal server to the list of IP's that bypass the proxy server. After that we had no issues viewing or updating our calendars. I don't know exactly how your network is setup, but it may be worth a shot.

  • Published iCal will not sync with Palm device

I had been synching my iCal to my Palm device. I recently published my iCal calendar and To Do list on .Mac. Now I can no longer make changes to my calendar on iCal, nor can I see any To Do's. When I tried to sync my Palm device, all calendar and To Do items were deleated from the Palm. Can anyone help? I have now spent several hours trying to recreate my calendar and to do list. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the way the iCal publish function works. One solution might be to 'unpublish' the calendar, so that I can manage it from iCal on my mac again, but I can't find how to do that.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Kim or Mike,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Before you do anything else, make sure that you use the iCal>File>Back up Database... feature.
In regard to recreating the calendar, if you open the web version of the calendar you can use the "Download" link on the web page to get the calendar on your desktop. Then use iCal to import the download: iCal>File>Import...
Then, after clicking on the published calendar in the source window, if you wish to Unpublish, use the iCal>Calendar>Unpublish... feature.
Since I do not use the Palm, I am unable to address that aspect of your question/problem.
    ;~)

  • Can't find my published iCal calendar

    Hello,
I published two iCal calendars from my Mac at home, but when I try to pull it up from my PC at work using the url format "http://ical.mac.com/username/calendar" I get "We're sorry but we cannot find the iCal you've requested. It's possible that it has been deleted or renamed."
I'm sure that I'm using the right calendar and username -- checked the spelling a dozen times.
It worked one time and I bookmarked one of my calendars. The bookmark works even though the generic url does not, but I didn't bookmark the second calendar, so I can't get to it.
I tried substituting the second calendar name for the first in the bookmark url, but that doesn't work either.
Anybody know what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks.
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Seems funny,
Have you checked in ical the the page is being published, should be a little icon to the right of the calendar...
If this is all ok, check that its still there by either right clicking or control clicking on the published calendar and choosing 'Show calendar on .mac" at least then you know that it is still there.

  • Publishing iCal calendars for non iCal users?

Firstly I guess I should set out the ideal solution I want to acheive.
I am looking for a way to publish calendars from iCal to my hosting server which will be viewable by PC/non iCal users via a web browser. I'd have to do it via ftp as my servers do not currently support WebDav.
Currently I have managed to publish the calendars which are viewable via a browser which appear as a list of code rather than as a calendar.
Is there a way to do this using iCal or, dare I mention, another calendar/organiser software package?
