Publishing iCal group to web WITH colors

Here is my problem. I can publish my iCal group to the web and view the group calendars just fine, but the colors do not show up in web view like they do in the application.
What am I doing wrong, or is there a solution?
Thanks!

Johnny,
There is nothing that you are doing wrong.
What you are observing is simply a limitation of the publish feature.
You may want to provide Apple - iCal - Feedback.

  • Publishing a GROUP of calendars with different colors.

When I publish a group of calendars on the internet for my (sorry) PC friends to look at on a browser, all the calendars merge and appear blue, which makes scanning the calendar much more difficult. Is there any way to retain each calendars unique color? Thanks. Ken

    Ken,
Unfortunately the individual calendars will lose color coding and be displayed in the same (blue) color on the web page.
Submit iCal Feedback to make your needs known to Apple.

  • Published ical-group

I published an ical-group with .mac. In the beginning there were three calendars. Then I opened a new caladar in this group. But now it is not published. What's to do?

    Robert,
If you added a new calendar to the group, then you will have to click on the Group Calendar name in the iCal sources (Calendars) window and then select iCal>Calendar>Refresh.
Updating Internet calendars provides additional information.

  • Published iCal will not sync with Palm device

I had been synching my iCal to my Palm device. I recently published my iCal calendar and To Do list on .Mac. Now I can no longer make changes to my calendar on iCal, nor can I see any To Do's. When I tried to sync my Palm device, all calendar and To Do items were deleated from the Palm. Can anyone help? I have now spent several hours trying to recreate my calendar and to do list. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the way the iCal publish function works. One solution might be to 'unpublish' the calendar, so that I can manage it from iCal on my mac again, but I can't find how to do that.

    Kim or Mike,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Before you do anything else, make sure that you use the iCal>File>Back up Database... feature.
In regard to recreating the calendar, if you open the web version of the calendar you can use the "Download" link on the web page to get the calendar on your desktop. Then use iCal to import the download: iCal>File>Import...
Then, after clicking on the published calendar in the source window, if you wish to Unpublish, use the iCal>Calendar>Unpublish... feature.
Since I do not use the Palm, I am unable to address that aspect of your question/problem.

  • Publishing Calendar Group to Web

I'm trying to publish an overlayed calendar group to the internet via OWA but seem to running into a brick wall everyway I turn. I can successfully publish a single calendar without any issue but my brief is to publish all of our meeting room calendars
to the internet and for them to be visible via a single site/link. Has anyone had any experience of doing this before and is it even possible?

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, there is no option in Outlook to publish Group Calendar to Internet. When you open Group Calendar in Outlook, the Publish Online in Share option is grayed. Maybe we need to look for any third party tools for more help.
Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.

  • Publish iCal to OS X Server 10.3.9 with WebDAV enabled--not working

I've published iCal calendars to other servers with WebDAV enabled, but so far have not been able to publish to OS X 10.3.9 server with WebDAV enabled.
Error message is: Calendar could not be published. This access has been forbidden by server.
I'm using an administrative username and password to eliminate any question about access to specific directories, I've ensured that the site is WebDAV enabled using the OS X Server Admin gui (so, web/sites/domain name/ editing section, under Options). I've been unable to find any more detailed instructions on publishing to OS X server. Any suggestions, webpage tutorials, etc., greatly appreciated.
FWIW, I suspect the folder location for where the .ics file would go on the server may be the issue. The web content is in Library/WebServer/foldername and this is where I put the calendar folder.

    Hi Jovan
I don’t think its a problem with 10.3 server as such. You’ve got to remember that 10.3 is getting on a bit. As far as supporting the latest drive sizes Apple as well as other interested parties would devote their energies in supporting the latest operating systems. For example Microsoft have recently released Vista. Most interested parties will get on board the Vista bandwagon and start developing and writing drivers and software for that rather than XP. After a while you will start to see less and less being developed for the older operating system. I think this is just one of those times.

  • ICal group publishing?

I have an iCal group of 10 calendars. I want my salesmen to see this group. Is there any way to do this besides them subscribing to ten individual published calendars?

    Greetings,
If you wish to share an entire group of calendars with others (not just send them individual events or calendars) then you will need a host.  A host is a server which sits on the internet and holds the calendar for you.
If you are a MobileMe subscriber (a host) you could provide your login name and password to everyone that needs access to these calendars and they can add the MobileMe account to their computer to see all the calendars.  I only recommend doing this if you are using a MobileMe account dedicated to this business purposes as you should never give your personal account information to anyone else.
You could also sign up for a free calendar service like Gmail calendars / Google calendars (a host) and then provide the login information to all those that need access.  They can add the GoogleCalendar to their computer to see all the calendars at once.
Beyond that you could also setup your own calendar server using Mac OS X Server.  That may be more features than you are looking for although it can be highly useful.  If you think you might be interested in getting a server installed in your office you might want to locate a Mac OS X Server consultant in your area to discuss your needs: http://consultants.apple.com/
    Hope that helps.

Does it have to be an applet?
If you want the same behaviour as in the code with traffic lights, change
    class MortgageApplet extends JApplet implements ActionListener {
    to
    class MortgageApplet extends JFrame implements ActionListener {
    and change
    public void init() {
    to
    public MortgageApplet() {

  • Published ical with no data

    iCal noob here.
I just published a calendar to mobileme with all the options checked and when i go to the url there is no data in the calendar. What am I missing?
Also, is Exporting an ics. to my mobileme disk as a backup sufficient for backing up this important data?
    Thanks,
    Jonathan

    Jonathan,
    What am I missing?
Make sure that the published calendar name has no special formatting characters in the name. Then Unpublish.../re-Publish... the calendar.
...is Exporting an ics. to my mobileme disk as a backup sufficient for backing up this important data?
Not for me! Although your question relates directly to iCal, I have multiple backup plans in place, using SuperDuper, MobileMe Backup, including on-site/offsite hard drives, and iDisk.

  • Problem publishing iCal on Web

For a long time, I have been publishing my iCal on the web using my .Mac account.
Everything has worked fine until 2 days ago. Now my calender cannot be found.
Instead my colleagues and I get the message: "We're sorry but we cannot find the iCal you've requested. It's possible that it has been deleted or renamed."
I did not make any changes (that I know of) this week, and yet this has happened. Does anyone know what could be a solution?

I got help from the author of iCalpublish, and after following his advice my calender works!
"Most likely it's one or more of your events causing a problem. So, turn off the individual calendars, one by one, and republish until you find the one causing trouble. Then duplicate that calendar and systematically remove events until you find the culprit. It's probably a recent addition. Could be something strange in the comments (notes) of the event.!"

  • Publishing iCal

Hi everyone, I have a quick question... I have 5 calendars in iCal, like... School, Work, Personal, etc etc and I want to publish them all on the same site, I don't want 5 different pages for everything... is there a way that I can publish them so they all show up on one calendar online as it appears in my iCal? I can't seem to figure it out or find any help. Thanks so much!

    Stephtastic,
You can create and publish a group calendar. Choose File > New Calendar Group, and name the calendar grouping. Then drag any calendars that you want to add to the group. Then "Publish" the group calendar.
Unfortunately the individual calendars will lose color coding and be displayed in the same (blue) color on the web page.

  • ICal - On the web

Hi, maybe I'm missing something but why doesn't iCal have a web based version that syncs with the home version in the same way that MAIL does. I know that you can PUBLISH to the web, but wouldn't the obvious solution be to also have a web based version that you can access anywhere, where you can add or delete new meetings etc.
You can sync it from and iPhone or iPod Touch, but why on earth can't you change it from another Mac or a PC. Come on APPLE you need to catch up with GOOGLE and the others on this one.
I love OSX but iCal in its current version is definately showing signs of age.

  • How do you publish multiple groups to one calendar ?

I have half a dozen groups to sort my contacts by in Address Book, ie Customers, Prospects, Suppliers, Family etc. Now I want to publish my iCal calendar so my call answering service can see where I am in the week.
How do I publish to one calendar so they can see all my appointments as it would seem you have to select one group to publish to one calendar and then publish a second calendar for another group and so on. This will get tedious as they would then have to refer to 3 or 4 different calendars, one for Customers, one for Prospects etc to see where I am all week.
    Any help much appreciated.

you can create calendar groups and then publish them on the web - go to file > publish new group and then drag the calendars you want into that group.

I want to publish all of my events onto one iCal page on the .Mac server, is this possible?

    George,
Choose File>New Calendar Group and then drag your individual calendars to the group. Publish the Group (Make sure the name is a single word).
