Publishing in Portal

Hi,
We had requirement to assign the URL of the published web reports to the BI roles.
I know we can assign the URL of the reports to the portal roles by creating Iview from the URL .
But we are not using the EP here but still want to use the URL for executing the Web reports.
Any inputs will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ravi.

If you are in 7.0, then Internal portal will come with it. And executing a report on the web will trigger the portal to display. If you are in earlier versions, then you can execute the report on the web and still see without having portal installed, this way the user who has the link (URL) need to have user ID and Password for the BW system. If you have portal, then you don't need that user name and password in BW box, but SSO (Single Sign On) on the portal only.
thanks.

  • Publish to Portal no longer working

    Hi there
We have published numerous templates from the WAD to our portal environment.
It has been a while since we have needed to do this, and now, all of a sudden, the link is no longer working.
We can open a template in the WAD, then choose Web Template >> Publish >> to Portal. The first screen I am presented with, then, is the portal login screen (as expected), then, once authenticated, I get a "Cannot find server or DNS error" error message.
The portal is accessible, as I can navigate to it normally and browse all the other reports already published.
The URL that is used for publishing is
    http://a03a001.ucs-solutions.co.za:50100/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex3x?system=SAP_BW&CMD=START_BROADCASTER70&SOURCE_TEMPLATE=PRINTTEST&START_WIZARD=X&DISTRIBUTION_TYPE=PCD_EXPORT
If I follow that URL, it takes me to an iview in PCD >> Portal Content >> Content Provided by SAP >> Platform Add-ons >> Business Intelligence >> iViews >> BEx Launcher (Format SAP BW 3.x).
We are using a 2004s system ... so I assume this is the correct iView to be using. If its the wrong one, how do I configure to use an alternate iView?
If I look at the properties of this standard iView, the only one that concerns me is the BEx Web Application Query String, which is set to "to_be_defined".
If I try to preview the iview, I get the same error message as described above.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Andrew

I can't find any info on this at all.
Maybe double check the settings found in GroupWise and set/reset the standard dialer (should be within the environment's default actions options). If that works you might be able to "catch" the change and push it as a default to the other systems. There should be a regkey "DefaultTelephonyProvider" found in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Novell\GroupWise\Client \Setup once set. Don't know if that is the only key needed to be set or if there are others.
If that does not fix it an ugly workaround could be to rename the dialer exe and replace it with the/a link for the Cisco dialer. Ugly, but might work.

  • Publishing sap portal with ess applications on portal.

    Hi all
We are using  EP 7.0  sp 13  (it is cluster environ ment) .  Back end is  ecc 6.0 sp 13   and bi 7.0  it  . We are using  employee self service and Manager Self service  business packages  , some bi reports , some transaction iviews on the portal.
Now we are planning to publish the portal to internet .
    1.  Which is the best option as a reverse proxy ?  ( IIS, Apache , Web dispatcher)
    2. What should be server configuration for reverse proxy server?
3.Should be the reverse proxy in same domain as portal?
    4. Any restrictions / pre requisites  for publishing the portal on internet?
    Any views?
    Thanking you.
    Rajendra.

This is not a trivial question! Companies spend quite a bit of time and money doing exactly what you are asking for. Good luck...

  • Can Xcelsius report published on Portal

    Hi ,
I have developed some reports using xcelsis ,I want these reports to be published on Portal
When I try to export it ,its getting stored in My Documents & Settings
so its not possible for others to access it
Please let me know how every one can access these reportsl through portal ..
    Thanks,
    Sany

    Hi Sany,
By using xcelsius 2008 you can publish or export your dashboard to different applications like flash, word, outlook, powerpoint, html etc. Also if you are using Business Objects Enterprise you can directly publish the swf file to the repository i.e. Infoview( If your client machine is connected to the server).
Once exported to infoview you can save it to Public folders  from where different users can access the swf file. You can use the infoview portal from the client as well so there is no need to log on to the server everytime.
Apart from this if you will export your xlf files to any other application like word powerpoint etc it will be stored on your hard drive. However if you want this file to be used by everyone you can also store it on shared network drive.
    I hope this will help!
    Thanks,
    Anshul

  • WAD Publish to Portal 7.0

    Hello,
Could you please tell me how the portal is used.
When I say to a Web template - publish to portal - I am poped up for a Folder Name....which is empty..
    how can I administrate this?
where can I see how the BI portal looks like?
Another question regards the roles menu existing in version 3.5.
I used this to display a bunch of queries or wad which were grouped under a role in BI.
How can I use the same functionality here, in version 7.0.
    Any feedback is highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much
    Ramona

These settings can be done in Content administration of your Portal.
Regarding folders, you have to do in KM content tab under Content administration.
The roles will be reflected in BW 3.5 as well.
if you are using BI 7.0, when you publish query, it will ask you to select the option to check 3.5 format or 7.0 format. That time you can select your format and access in 7.0 format.
    Hope this would help you.

  • Unable to publish to Portal and BEx Broadcaster in WAD

    Dear SDN Experts,
We are experiencing the following problem when trying to publish or broadcast a Web Template from BEx WAD to EP portal:
(we are using BI 2004s, SP10, Revision 263 of BEx WAD)
When we create and save a new Web Template, we choose from the menu Web Template -> Publish -> to Portal or BEx Broadcaster. These two options are active but when we click on either of them, nothing happens. The system is not responding in any way.
Does anyone have an idea what might cause this problem?
We have thought it is an authorization issues either on the BI side or on the Portal, but as we have granted all neccessary authorizations we can state that it does not seem to be an authorization problem.
I will very much appreciate your help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Ivan Giurov

    Hi Ivan,
Make sure ABAP and Java Stack are communicating. Run RSRT2 --> Java Web to make sure you are communicating with Portal.
Can you please check if you have authorizations to use Information Broadcaster?
Authorization object: S_RS_ADMWB with the field RSADMWBOBJ = BR_SETTING
Logon to Java Stack Portal --> Business Explorer --> BEx Broadcaster and test it from here. so that you are not having any problem with authorizations or connectivity.
    thanks,
    Deepak Kunavarapu

On clicking on the help (F4) button for Folder name to choose one I get error as :
Error : The Bex Web application Domain doesnot correspond to the domain with which the folder selection dialog is called Another cause of the problem may be that BI and portal server are not running on the same domain.Notiffy system Administrator or maintain table RSPORT_T_PORTAL and take note of server configuration section in OSS note 444247.
I checked the OSS note and it didnot help much, its very old note.

  • Permission Denied Error when RWD auto playback file is published in portal

    Hi All,
We are trying to Publish RWD Auto play back file link in Portal Environment. While doing so, we getting error Permission Denied" error(Java script error which comes on the status bar)
Following are the steps been followed so far for enabling this RWD file
    1. We have uploaded an entire folder consisting of  RWD Document say a HTML file which is of size say 15 MBwhich makes use of many other image files,GIF files, HTML files which are all present inside the folder into KM content of SAP EP Portal
    2. We have created a KM document iview out of the HTML file(flash file)
    Regards,
    Sowmya

    Hi,
Its not related to Work flow. Its just related to KM upload in the portal but the problem is the file will play only when the entire folder is uploaded. But after creating the KM document iview out of the link to the file, its not opeining. Its giving a blank screen with the "permission denied" error in the status bar

  • Publish to Portal HTML

Hi, When I publish a report to the Portal via HTML it creates a folder structure with all of the required files(messy).  For some reason "_000" gets appended to the file name.  Any way around this or can anyone tell me why this happens?
    Thanks,
    Ken Murray

That is the standard behaviour and cannot be changed.
The numbering is used in case of multiple files created when you select control query or filter options.

  • Publishing through Portal - "Connection to backend system failed"

We are having a problem publishing documents through our SAP Portalu2019s service u201CPublish Course Contentu201D under Course Administration.
When we go to publish, we get a status u201CConnection to backend system failedu201D with the message u201CNo message availableu201D.
    We are running:
Portal on NW 7.0 EhP1, Support Package 04.
ABAP on ERP 6.0, EhP4, Support Package 18.
Both the Portal and ABAP systems are running on Linux RHEL5, with an ORACLE 1.0.2.4 database.
Portal and ABAP are on different servers.
Not certain if this is significant but under System Configuration, if I open my ABAP back-end systemu2019s configuration and perform connection tests, the overall Connector test fails.
We also have a sandbox system on which we did the configuration first. We have compared all of the values for the configuration we have done to ensure they are configured the same. On the sandbox, the connection test is successful and we can publish content without error.
I have been trying to review the various trace files, increase trace levels, etc. both on the ABAP back-end system and on the Portal. I have been able to find anything that appears significant but this is probably due to my not knowing what to look for.
Which specific trace files should be reviewed for the root cause of the issue? What are the exact steps the Publish process takes to accomplish its work? If we know the exact steps it takes (how it communicates, what modules it uses, what accounts) we might be able to determine the root cause.
We are using a SAML login to our portal for authentication and have removed the Basic password login module from the Authentication Stack u201Cticketu201D. We have established trusted RFCu2019s between the ABAP and Java instances for the Publishing function. When authentication is configured, we try to use the highest form available in the configuration. We use Assertion tickets if available, it not, we use Logon Tickets, if not available, we would then select X.509 certificates and if that were not available, would select Username and password.
Any ideas as to what we should be looking at would be greatly appreciated. I have searched both SDN and SAPNet for similar situations and not yet found something that corrects the problems.
    Thank-you in advance,
    Deb Nugent.

    Arun,
Thank-you for your suggestions. The ABAP back-end system is up and I have verified the connection properties. I have had others verify as well. All appears correct.
The default trace files, through NWA, show the messages:
    BackenConfig not correct. processId = 78775D8D1053B855;
     com.sap.hcm.ls.shared.config.backend.BackendConfigException: Destination Exception
Can not get Destination com.sap.security.core.server.destinations.api.DestinationException: The properties for destination ZZ_LSOCP_JP3 of type RFC could not be located.
I have checked all of the trace files both on the ABAP and Java sides and cannot determine the root cause. I have repeatedly tried things suggested by other threads in SDN and others (consultants) have tried as well. We cannot determine the root cause of the connection errors and now, cannot get the Publishing to work properly.
The only system where the connector test works is our sandbox. Our dev and test systems all fail the connector test. We configured them all using the same documentation.
Is there some way to increase trace levels to try and get more details? And what objects would need to have traces increased?
    Deb.

  • BI iview when published in portal  is giving error

    HI,
    Portal Runtime Error
An exception occurred while processing your request
    Exception id: 12:09_09/04/08_0074_336182350
See the details for the exception ID in the log file.
This is the error , I am getting
When we are publishing from WAD to portal , it is giving the Portal Runtime Error.
If we create the same one step by step manualy it is giving the result.
Difference I found is in both the iviews is : System - BI (alias of logical system in the landscape)
    Manually created Iview , System : Sap_LocaSystem
For BI system all the connection tests it is giving successful results .
And in RSPOR_SETUP program , result I found
Status 9 - No check with Portal SID <PORTAL_SID>
Status 10 - No check with Portal SID <PORTAL_SID>
Is this 9, 10 properties should be corrected ?
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Unable to choose a folder while publishing to portal from query designer

    Hi,
I'm trying to publish a report to portal from query designer using 'export to portal' option. I'm having two problems here and may be they are related.
Problem 1 - When I click on the dialog box to choose a pcd folder name, i get the following warning...
"The BEx Web application does not correspond to the domain with which the folder selection dialog is called Another cause of the problem may be that BI and portal server are not running in the same domain Notify the system administrator or maintain table RSPORT_T_PORTAL and take note of the server configuration section in SAP note 444247"
BEx reports created from portal are working fine. The portal and BI are running on same domain and RSPORT_T_PORTAL has FQDN. What am I missing here?
Problem 2 - When i say ok and continue, it gives me the option to choose the folder. When I pick a folder (gave complete authorization to this folder), and click on Transfer to continue, nothing happens. The button doesn't respond. Technically it should copy the folder path to the previous dialog box from where I should be able to publish.
Could somebody please help me with this problem?
    Thank You,
    Ashwin

    Hello Ashwin,
I would start with a very simple thing: add the domains (URLs) to your trusted sites list in the Internet Browser.
    Maybe it solves both problems.
    Kind Regards,
    Marcio

  • Script to Publish to Portal or Default Folder

I have a number of qrys (100 ish) that need to be published to the portal.
The procedure I am using is accessing Qry Designer, bringing up the query, and publishing it. It works fine, but there are many steps.
Here is the url that gets launched:
    https://<url>:<port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex3x?system=SAP_BW&CMD=START_BROADCASTER70&SOURCE_QUERY=ZMM_M001_Q001&START_WIZARD=X&DISTRIBUTION_TYPE=PCD_EXPORT
The steps that really piss me off is that when I get to the portal dialog then I have to navigate down into the PCD structure to find my directory structure. Its the same PCD directory structure every time!! Many clicks here!!! The web dialog does not let me paste the PCD directory in. I have to manually navigate every time.
I don't want to change my security access to the one folder, because then I'll have to change it back. That's not a good fix.
    What I'd prefer is:
    1) a setting where I can default the PCD structure for publishing, or
    2) a script I can run from the portal that gets the query iview and creates it in directory I specify.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
BTW, I see this html in the source of the web contained in an anchor tag with the "Execute" button:
    javascript:SAPBWQDefSubmitFormWithPar('CMD','WIZARD_EXECUTE','','','','')"

Here is a sample snippet for creating a single iview for a BW report in the
    Folder - portal_content/customerfolder/bi/ivu/fin
    Template - ZDTS_M01_W0002
    iView id - com.customer.bi.report1
    Report Name - Finance Report
For creating more just repeat the context element again and again and changing the above parameters
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

  • Portal Port to Publish in Portal via Query Designer and Web Application

    Hello Gurus,
Recently we change the port from 50000 to 80 to do federated portal connection more transparent.
After this change I open for example the web application designer and open a web template and try to execute it.
This action pop up the web browser to show the web template, but there is a problem, the web application designer still openning the web template with the 50000 port.
    The question is:
Where I change the port used for BEx Web Applications to execute the web templates or the BEx Web querys?
    thansk for your help.
