Publishing iphoto album to mobilme gallery

Is there anyway to make an iphoto album published to my mobil me gallery viewable for my kids soccer team, but the rest of the albums already there just viewable for family and friends?

I did and all it gives me as a few options like new album, selct all, show detailed info, delete, auto-hide fotter and help...no password protection stuff....

IPhoto album uploaded to Gallery-downloaded files revert to camera names

I have created an album in iPhoto 8.1 and uploaded it with full size photos to .me Gallery for relatives to view and download. I renamed the photos in iPhoto and those names appear fine in Gallery. But when people download the photos, the name reverts to the cryptic name the camera originally assigned. What gives? I chatted with the .me/Gallery folks and they said it's an iPhoto issue. Shouldn't WYSIWYG? Apple has been pretty good about that in the past. This was an unexpected result. Is there a fix?

Well, I sent the invite to myself, then went to the Gallery as an "outsider". I downloaded a photo and neither Preview or PhotoShop saw the Title, just the old photo name from the camera. Apple needs to fix this. Again, when someone downloads something they see titled as something, it shouldn't say something else when they open it.

Iphoto albums to mobileme gallery

I cannot figure out how mobileme chooses the image to be the cover for the gallery. Is there a way to manipulate this?

Yes there is.
On MobileMe view the Gallery in View mode and click on the pic you want to use a Gallery Icon. Then click on the cog and choose 'Show Key Photo'.

Sync iPhoto album & mobileme gallery

Hello! I have a few albums in iPhoto that I want to publish to my mobileme gallery. However, I would like for the albums on mobile me to be automatically updated when I add new photos to my iPhoto albums. So I'm wondering what's the best thing to do: Do I keep my original albums and update the mobile me gallery every time I add photos to the albums? Or do I delete the original albums and use only the published albums? With the first option, I need to update manually(?), with the second option, I lose the album folder structure I currently have... Any thoughts?

You have outlined your options very well.
1.) Keep the local Albums and the folder structure you created and drag changes from these albums to the MobileMe Gallery Album when you add new pictures.
2.) Get rid of the local Albums and their folder structure and use just the MobileMe Gallery Albums
Those are the only choices I can think of as well. I suppose the question would be, do you make so many changes to your Albums that dragging the changes to the MobileMe Gallery would be so much work?
If you do decide to use only the MobileMe Gallery and get rid of the local Albums, I would highly suggest you keep a regular backup of your computer / iPhoto. And frankly if you care about your information having a backup is essential anyways.

Removing a web gallery album, even after the iphoto album has been deleted.

I have just created an Album of photos in iphoto, and then published the album to the web gallery. I was able to view the album via the web and my wife did too on a windows based laptop. I then went back to add 2 more photos to the album in iphoto, then again went back to see if they were uploaded too. One was and one wasnt, then the second one did after a couple of minutes. Now I have deleted the albums I created in iphoto, but I still have the link to go to the web gallery site and the album is still online with 24 photos. How can I remove the photos from my online gallery.

I think your best bet is to post your questions on the iPhoto discussions. More people will see them there.
I have been using the web albums for some time. I have merely started iPhoto, then select the web gallery album you wish to delete. Click on the "Web Gallery" icon located at the bottom right hand side of the window. When it opens click on "advanced". You will see the option to hide the gallery on the web.
Now you should be able to go back to the album in iPhoto and delete it.

Remove album from Web Gallery (not in Iphoto)

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go into iPhoto's Preferences/Web Gallery. If the gallery is listed then select it and hit the Stop Publishing button.
If the gallery is not listed then mount your iDisk and go to the iDisk/Sites/Web/_gallery folder. If you have more than one gallery you'll have to look inside each of the gallery folders (they are just numbered and hard identify which is which) to determine which is the gallery you want to delete. When you find it drag it to the trash.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

Cannot publish album to web gallery, nor to iweb

today, I tried publishing an album to my web gallery and iphoto "quit unexpectedly" then (after the relaunch), I tried going to preferences, which caused it to quit again. nothing I do seems to resolve this (I've restarted, and have also tried deleting the prefs file - numerous times).
then I tried to send the album to iweb - and iweb "quit unexpectedly" as well. even worse, now iWeb won't even launch! (keep getting the "quit unexpectedly" error. (I've tried deleting the prefs file for iweb and iapps as well, to no avail.)
otherwise, iphoto works fine - it's just when trying to send to iweb, publishing to web gallery, or accessing the preferences that it freezes (and quits).
the last time I tried coordinating these apps (and publishing to my web gallery) was a month ago, and everything worked perfectly. could this be related to a bug in a recent software update?
can anyone help me figure out what's wrong? I'm terribly frustrated...

iWeb does not launch at all - I get an 'opening' message, then the "quit unexpectedly" error message appears. here's first part of the report:

(The irony here is that I used DreamWeaver/Photoshop/ftp upoaders to design and publish my previous sites and, as a new mom, thought I'd save time by taking advantage of Apple's seamless (albeit boxed) software to make a simple and easily-updatable photo site for my daughter. No. If you don't have the album you originally used to create the galleries you can do so by dragging the photos from each gallery to a new, empty album. Then when you find the photo sharing site/option you have decided on you can easily upload each album to the site.
Another option is to obtain a hosting service and create iWeb photo pages for each album and future albums similar to this photo page in one of my demo sites: iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow. Or you can use the iWeb album page and have an album for each iPhoto album on it like on this demo page: Page-7 .

how do you set-up an iphoto album to automatically update a web gallery album?
so if i add a new photo to an existing album on my computer that has a corresponding web gallery album that web gallery will know to add that photo

That is not a current feature of iPhoto - you will need to add the photo to both the album and the web gallery album

Where are you publishing to? Can you publish successfully to a folder on your hard drive? Have you read this webpage: Publish iWeb site using FTP. It may have a clue to where the problem is.
A quick troubleshooting fix is
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
However, when you delete the preference file you probably will have to use the app described below to select and open your domain file with iWeb:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

If you update the web gallery album it updates the web (do not do an update during an update - this still can cause problems)

Unable to publish album to MobileMe Gallery

When I try to publish my album on MobileMe, nothing happens.
You see that on the screen that it is "publishing", but afterwards nothing has happened.
I do not receive any error message what so ever.
Your advice is highly appreciated.

Have you tried making a new MM Gallery and use a different photo and publish? I have had a gallery be corrupt. I would make a new gallery, add one photo you haven't used before and try publishing.
If you login into mobileme.com and go to the gallery here, do you see anything? In your iDisk the Web folder is in there right? If not, then you will need to contact Apple support.

Cannot publish album into web gallery !

It keeps saying "An error occurred while publishing the album. Request to the server failed."

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try creating a new library, import a few photos and see if you can publish form it. If so, then your old library is damaged. If that's the case you can use iPhoto Library Manager to copy your photos and albums to the new library and keep the comments, keywords and titles intact.
If you can't publish from the new library either log into another account or boot into Safe Mode and try from there. Again, if it publishes OK your account is the culprit. It might be a damaged pref file from some other application that iPhoto interacts with. Here's one way to check that out:
Trouble Shooting Preferences
Go to HD/Users/Your_name/Library. Move the Preferences folder (in its entirety) to the Desktop and make a second copy of it so you have Copy A and B. Now try the the process again and determine if problem is fixed.
If the problem IS fixed, then go to the new Prefs folder that the OS will have created and open it up.
Open Copy B on the Desktop and select all of the items inside. Drag them into the open new library folder. When the Copy window comes up check the Apply to All check box and then click on the Don't Replace button as seen here. That will keep the new files created and bring back all of the others.
If the problem is NOT fixed, trash the new Prefs folder and move the intact Copy A folder back to the Library folder .

How can I publish photos from my ipad to NEW album in my gallery

I am traveling overseas with only my iPad. I need to upload photos from the iPad to my Galley, but not to any of the existing albums.
I need to create a new album for these photos.
There doesn't seem to be a way to add new albums to my gallery when using the iPad. This limits the iPad's usefulness for me for travel purposes as I shoot a lot of photos and need/want to share as I go along. (obviously, if I'd known about this before, I would have set up a "travel photos" album before I left my home computer.)
Does someone have some advice for me?

i have exactly the same question - I bought the ipad specifically for this purpose, and now find that I have created all sorts of problems for myself. I have bought the camera connection kit to upload everything, with the intention of clearing the sd and flash cards afterwards, but only to find out that i "shouldn't rely on that, what if something happens to your ipad when travelling, you'll have lost all of your photo data"
I asked in the apple store what I should do - answer " take a laptop with you which is synched to your itunes and upload your photos......." NOT quite what I wanted to hear - why on earth would I travel with a laptop and an ipad?

How do I get iPhoto to publish an album with both pics and movies in it?

The built-in link to iWeb seems to assume either:
(a) I have lots of pictures, but no movies, or
(b) I have ONE movie, and no pictures.
This is kinda frustrating.
I expected there to be some easy, clever, way to one-click publish an album with a mix of pics and movies.
Is there a check-box someplace I don't know about? Or a HowTo?

Most likely, this is happening because the Album Artist field is different for each song from Random Access Memories. We have an article about song grouping in iTunes, and it can be found here:

There are a couple ways to fix the information listed for Random Access Memories outlined in that article, but I want to point out one here:
Albums in which all songs don't have the same Album Artist information
iTunes 7 and later includes a new attribute for song files called Album Artist This allows you to assign a primary artist name for an album that many includes songs by several artists. It is important that all songs in the album have the same Album Artist name. To assign an Album Artist, select all the songs in the album and choose Get Infofrom the File menu. Next, type a name in the Album Artist field name such that it will apply to all the selected songs. This field can optionally be left blank if all the songs have the same album name.
The Album Artist field is shown in the above picture, but it is not highlighted. You will also want to make sure the Track Number field contains the correct information for the album, and information on that field can be found here:
