  • Publishing iweb site using 123 reg hosting

I have uploaded the folder via ftp, but when I go to the website there is basically nothing there apart from a box.
Has anyone else had problems using a hosting service other than .mac??
    website is http://www.freshfaux.co.uk
    cheers

I had exactly the same problem with http://www.forkliftagency.co.uk
For some reason 123-reg hosting does not like you uploading folders all in one go. I had to create the folder in the control panel, and then drop the files into each folder. Same for deleting; 123 will not let you delete a folder with contents.
You need to delete the contents first, and then delete the folder.!

  • I published a website using iWeb.  I began using iWeb to create a second site and now I can't find my original site's work on my Mac.

I published a website using iWeb.  I began using iWeb to create a second site and now I can't find my original site's work on my Mac.

If you're publishing directly from iWeb 3 to your FTP server then you'll have the following in your accounts root directory:
    Site 1 folder
    Site 2 folder
    Site 3 folder
index.html file from last published site directling to the last published site.
If you want to keep Site 1 as the primary site you'll need to publish it one more time to the server so you get it's index.html file uploaded.
Now you'll have to publish Sites 2 and 3 to a folder on the hard drive and use a 3rd party FTP client like Cyberduck, YummyLite or Transmit  to upload only the site folder (and not its external index.html file with it).
The url to sites 2 and 3 will be:
    http://doman_name.com/Site 2
    http://doman_name.com/Site 3

  • How to publish my website using iWeb ? Other than FTP !

Hello Guys ,                        I want to build my own website and I have iWeb software which I got preinstalled when I purchased my MBP. As Mobile me is out of service could anyone give an alternative way to publish my website. I have seen some Youtube videos for doing these but they didn't work. Some, of them are by using Dropbox account - saving file on my computer ...... . There is FTP but I don't have and know what it does. I just want to make, edit my website. • How to Publish Multiple Websites Using Domain Masking

Let's say I have a mobileme acct called applesoranges, but then I decided not to use this name for my website. Using iweb, I have created a different website called blueberry.com, and was able to figure out how to set up my personal domain and then mask appleoranges so that only blueberry.co, appears.
I now want to add another website called strawberry.com. With one mobileme acct (applesoranges), is it possible to host 2 separate websites, each of which is masking the original mobileme acct? How does one set up 2 separate websites using iweb (each masking the original acct name)?
    Many thanks!

For every MobileMe account you can only use the personal domain name option and CNAME only once. You enter your first domain name into your MMe account and then go and set up CNAME forwarding at your domain registrar to forward to web.me.com. For any other sites that you create, you need to go to web forwarding. You set-up the other domain names by using masked web forwarding and point them to web.me.com/username/sitename and by masking these will just show your domain name address and not your MobileMe/iWeb url.
Make sure that you separate out your sites, as it will be easier. You can either duplicate the domain.sites files and have one site per a domain file or use a program called iWebSites to help you manage multiple sites.
You also have the option of not using MMe and you can publish to a folder instead and upload directly to each domain hosting space. This gets away from the problem of how to forward sites to iWeb/MMe.

  • Please Help Publishing iWeb Website With ... ??

Please help. This is so unfamiliar!
I am trying to publish my iWeb website not using MobileMe (don't really know what it is).
I need to purchase my domain name but don't know of a reputable company that will give me a web address that just ends in .com without other stuff behind it.
Also, someone said I need a "Bridge" that is Fetch??
Please advise if anyone can! Thank you.
    Happy Holidays!

Okay so I have purchased the Hostexcellence basic plan, my domainname and webhosting, and $6 extra for personal information privacy, which came to about $64. At first they kept saying the domainname was wrong or something, until I finally wrote it in in all lowercase lettering, which solved the issue. They said they would connect within 12 hours in their confirmation email... The webpage message said:
    ACCOUNT CREATION DELAY
We are sorry for the delay with creating your account. Our systems encountered a small problem and could not automatically create your account. You will receive the account access information within the next 12 hours. Thank you for your patience.
You have chosen to purchase the following service(s):
    Domain Registration: lightkeysandcodes.com , Paid Domain Registration, 1 year(s)
    Hosting Plan: Basic Plan, Quarterly
There was a problem creating your order. One of our support specialists is already working on processing your order, but if you would like a status update, please feel free to contact our support department.
Wyodor mentioned starting with my own ISP. What info do I need from them? (we have Verizon).
I am now looking over the link Old Toad provided. Appreciate that.
Do i now start with Fetch or one.com to store my pages/files on?
    Thanking you all!

  • Publishing iWeb site using MobileMe

I created a new website using iWeb, set up the CNAME alias, and published it using MobileMe. iWeb indicates the website has been published. When I go to the website, I get an error message:
    Directory Listing Denied
This virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed.
    Help!?

I followed the thread and performed the activities to test the site. I too was able to see the site. When I looked at the URL for the actual site, it still shows mac, not mobileme. Is this part of the problem?
    http://web.mac.com/ccgaler/TProcurementSolutions/Home.html
I'm using Netfirms for the domain name, it was all fine until I used the "Masking" feature. When I selected the "On" radio button, I lost all my graphics and the navigation bar on my site. Now I'm not sure if I have to start from scratch, or if that would make a difference.
    Thanks!

  • Problems publishing iWeb website

When I publish my website icons are misplaced and fonts are wrong.  It seems every time I republish it happens more.  Driving me crazy!!  Help!

If you're using iWeb 3 to publish directly to the FTP server it may take using the File ➙ Publish Entire Site menu option to get all of the files uploaded.

  • Can you export a published iweb website back into iweb?

I have created my own iweb website which I uploaded to my own domain using transmit. Since creating the page, I had a had drive die on me that I can't access and don't have my site in iweb to edit as I have resorted to a back up made just before I made the site. So I want to know if I can access the site from Transmit and put it back into iweb for editing the site?
This is my first site I have made entirely on my own and have been learning as I go. If I can't access the site as I made it, I may try accessing the files from Transmit one by one to re-make the pages.
Any help on this will me very much appreciated.
This is my site for anyone who wants to see:
    http://jemgirl.com
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)
    Powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Sure, you could syncronize in the opposite direction to get your html files and images, etc back on your Mac. But you will have to drag and drop, copy and paste to get that content back into iWeb.
Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.
You should backup this file whenever you make big changes to your site, because if it gets lost or damaged, you will have to start all over. Sadly, many many people learn this the hard way. Unfortunately, looks like you have too.
I have an Automator app on my site that will help you backup your Domain file(s). Click here to download it or visit http://iweb.varkgirl.com for more info. The app will make a .zip file of your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and save it to a location of your choosing.
Then check out Mozy for an online place to store your backups - I just found this and it seems great. They just recently released a Mac friendly version of their app - it automates the upload and encryption. You select the files you want to backup and it does the rest. You can set it to upload automatically after so many minutes of inactivity or once a day. It does it all in the background so you don't have to worry about it! 2GB of storage are free - plenty of room for most people's iWeb Domain.sites backups!

  • Do I need a Mac Account to publish my website using iWeb

I don't have a .mac account because my internet service provider gives me some webspace. Can I use iweb to create websites with the service I have? or do I need to purchase a mac account and use their service?
    Thanks,

You can use any server space you have. Here are some tips:

  • Getting a old published iweb website into my new IWEB

I created a website a year ago on I-Web 08 and published it on mobile me. The site is still published and working on mobile me. I had my hard drive go down. I did manage to back up most of the drive except the system and preferences. After getting a new drive, I installed 09 on the new internal drive. How do I get all the previous work (content) back into I-Web so I can work on the site once again ? There does not seem to be a way of extracting all the work I did and

If you did not back up your System library and preferences, did you manage to back up your User Library?
If so, then your domain file, which you need is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Find this file and double click it and iWeb will open it.
If you don't have it, then there is nothing that you can do except re-build your site - iWeb is unable to import.

  • Inability to publish iWeb content using MobileMe

I'm in a serious time crunch to get my site updated on Tuesday. I've made lots of edits and revisions and saved frequently. When I attempt to publish in part or whole, it acts as if it is publishing successfully, but when I visit the site, it's the old version. I've cleared my cache several times now. I even tried Apple's suggestion to quit iWeb then find and delete some com.apple.iWeb.plist files. Guess what, I don't have those files in the location specified. I have other com.apple.... files but nothing for iWeb. I logged in to me.com to make sure everything is ok with my account - and it is. I don't know what else to try. Any help appreciated

Yes you do have the com.apple.iWeb.plist file. You are probably looking in the wrong place for them though. Rather than going to the System Library/Preferences you need to go to your Home User Library/Preferences instead and this is where the com.apple.iWeb.plist file is - the iWeb application and domain files are stored under Home user/Library/Application Support/iWeb and so the plist file is under the home user Library/Preferences.

  • How to Restore iWeb website using Time Machine

I used Time Machine to back up everything on my hard drive.
I went to the Apple Store, with a question about iWeb.
The guy moved a bunch of stuff around, and "tried" a bunch of stuff.
When he exited out of iWeb, he automatically clicked SAVE.
I want what it looked like Before he touched it.
With every other application, you just need to open the app, then click Time Machine, and it will search for the Backed Up Versions.
Time Machine does not do this with iWeb!
When I search for an "iWeb" folder, I CAN NOT.
I can only search for FILES with the word iWeb. Why?
I know there is a folder called iWeb under Library/App Support/
    but that is the Domain.
How do I get my old files back?
    -B

You were on the right track.
The domain-file in Library/Application Support/iWeb is the file you need to put back with Time Machine.

  • How to publish a website using templates

I have content for webpages stored in db already. How can I build some templates, how can I manage those templates then generate webpages? Thank you for your answer.
    Examples are prefered.

  • IWeb and 123-reg personal domain difficulties

I have published before using iWeb but have now recently bought a domain name with 123-reg. I have changed my CNAME with 123-reg but cannot publish my website using iWeb. It just says:
Publish Error - There was an error updating MobileMe.
What am I doing wrong? Is it massively obvious? I've waited more than 48 hours.

    Try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home() /Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
