Publishing Lightswitch Application requires Clear Cache?

Hello
I have a query. I have a website on www.theswazi.com.
Every time I publish my application my users have to clear their cache to access the updates. If they do not, they get an error where the application the browser has saved can not access some of the old resources (e.g. fields that have been removed etc.)
Is it possible to let the application know that it should never be saved on the browser? Currently, for publishing I am using webmatrix (Would that be the problem)?

From your description above, generally it's recommended to restart server and development machine, and cleared internet cache, and check whether it still has same issue.

Error When Publishing LightSwitch Application

Hi Everybody
I am trying to publish a simple lightswitch application (3-tier desktop) into a Webserver. The deployment start as expected but after few minutes later got the below error:
Net SqlClient Data Provider: Msg 15418, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_dbcmptlevel, Line 78 Only members of the sysadmin role or the database owner may set the database compatibility level
The webserver I have brought from arvixe.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

No, I'm not advising to uninstall anything, just to make sure that your application
targets matches the server's version. I'm not sure if the SP level affects the compatibility level. Maybe Glenn knows?
I'm not a web developer, & I just had a quick look at the 2012 publish wizard. I can't find any setting to charge the targeted version. I must have been thinking about SSRS reports (there's an option to select the version that the reports are targeting).
Arvixe should really have SP1 applied to their servers (maybe you can ask them to do so if they don't?).
Other than that it looks like I can't help you, sorry.

I am trying to publish a LightSwitch 2012 application as Web Application from Windows 7 PC to Windows 2003 IIS server, .Net Framework 4.0
The publish Summary as follows
Application Name - User Test

Application Type : Browser

Authentication : Windows Authentication
Database : Do not publish
Error details while publishing with the option "IIS server has lightswitch deployment prerequisites installed".

Finally, I Could able to resolve the issue. I have identified the below information for a successfull deployment
1. Light switch 2012 application can be published only with Web Deploy 1.1 (which will create Web Deployment Agent Service) in Windows Services list. I had an issue with multiple Web Deploy versions (Web Deploy 2.0, 3.0) which caused to fail the publishing
from Light Switch Development environment. Un-installed all the versions and installed only Web Deploy 1.1 and then published successfully
2. You should use Remote Publish from Light Switch 2012 Development PC as there is no option in IIS 6.0 to import the Package in IIS 6.0 with the packages files similar to the option available in IIS 7.0 and later.
3. You should be able to publish from Light Switch 2012 environment with the option "IIS server has lightswitch deployment prerequisites installed" checked. The application will publish with the option unchecked but it will not work.

Applications disabled after clearing caches, etc.

My computer had begun to run slowly, so I followed advice in these pages and installed and ran an application called Cocktail: I ran the daily, weekly and monthly service operations and cleared caches and logs. Now my computer runs much better, but two applications that I have had for some time no longer work. One is an RSS news reader called PluckyX, the other is CarbonErrors. In each case the application's icon has changed.
In the case of PluckyX, it now tries to open using Script Editor, resulting in error messages, and I cannot find any other application to open it with. PluckyX is no longer made and its creator cannot be contacted, but I downloaded another copy from VersionTracker, with the same negative result. I have not yet tried to find a new copy of CarbonErrors.
Can anyone please suggest a solution? It is PluckyX in particular that I should like to revive.

If you are updating Safari (or just have):
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed 10.4.11 and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 uses Safari 3.0.4 which is not a beta. If Safari 3.0.4 on 10.4.11 is not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
Moreover, trying to revert to Safari 2 when running 10.4.11 can have repercussions, as Safari 3.0.4 uses a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard widgets etc also rely.
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Two such add-on that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens and Pithhelmet. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for Safari 3.0.4.
In your case PluckyX and Finale are the suspects.
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, as well as the latest Java update.

Run page with cleared cache after edit in application builder

When I am building a form and run into an error while submitting the page I get the following situation. After making some changes to the page I try to run it again but the values from the previous try are still in the cache. So I immediately run into the same error I had earlier. The only way around this, that I currently know of, is to select another page in the application builder and start this. Then I can navigate to the page I'm working on using the menu. I usually start pages from the menu with a cleared cache.
Is there an easier way to do this?
There are currently two "run" buttons in the application builder. There is the button that says "run" and there is the "traffic light". Maybe one of those can be used the run the page with a cleared cahche and the other one with the cache still intact.

One of the parameters in the URL is for clearing cache:
f?p=App:Page:Session:Request:Debug:ClearCache:itemNames:itemValues:PrinterFriendly
so, you could just enter the page number into the 6th parameter to clear the cache for that page

I am having search form based on viewObject Asydet1(say Asydet1Iterator) in exp1.jsp page.
I execute it.Then I navigate to drg_wise.jsp page that is another search form based on viewObject Asydet1(say Asydet1Iterator).
Now on drg_wise.jp page result of exp1.jsp page is shown.
On executing find on drg_wise.jsp rows returns if it fullfil search condition on result of first search.
Asydet1 and Rtpr0drg are having master detailrelation.

Clear cache in the session

In my application, there are multiple tabs created. Each tab has a different functiionality. When I enter some value in the first tab and after processing the page, if I navigate to another tab and again come back to the previous tab, the value entered in the text field is still displayed.
My requirement is to make the contents of the text field null when ever I navigate to that page.
In short within a session, the values entered in the text fields are not cleared when navigating between pages.
Any ways to achieve this?

U have clear cache option in tab entries details.. set it to pages which U want f.e. 3,7 - will clear cache of page 3 and page 7.
Other way is to change in item option "Source Used" to "always replacing...."
is that what U are asking?

Hey guys
I got my self a project which i need to use on the emulator.
But every time i publish my flash project to the emulator, i get an error saying
"This Application requires Adobe Air to be installed" eventho i do have Adobe Air installed & updated
In case it matters i have the Runtime_Emulator_Froyo_20100930 installed and i use Vista SP1.
Hopefully somebody can help me out here

No No, Sorry aha I installed Windows 8, which was fine. I didnt like it much so I tried doing a system restore assuming I could just go back to Windows 7 (What my friend told me). I found out eventually I couldnt obviously, but before I found out I figured the "Reset Your PC" option would be like a system restore and would go back to Windows 7. All my Programmes got deleted, which I was fine about so I just went to go install them again but Photoshop is telling me I cant install it due to not having the system requirements. But the only requirement I believe I dont have is Windows 7, but like I said before... I've seen others with Windows 8 having Photoshop..
A system Image Backup, nope.. I dont. My friend told me that it was just a trial and I would go back to Windows 7 once the trial is up. (I should do my own research in future)
I hope this was clear enough, again it's pretty late and I'm just stressed over loosing everything. Thank you for getting back to me so soon also - Any other tips on how to maybe get it? I dont think I have any traces of Adobe left since all my programmes got deleted, the only other thing I have is Adobe Flash.

How to clear cache during development?

I don't want Flash to store the video and image files it pulls in when I test publish the swf. Somewhere it's keeping those files in cache, making it impossible to test a realistic download situation ( such as loading indicators, buffering bars, etc ) because the 'loading' file is immediately available in its entirety due to being stored in cache.
Anyone know how to control the caching behavior?

When you pull content in from the Web, what type of files and how is it done? Are you testing in a browser?
If you see a "loading" bar for a video, I'd say it's being cached in a Web browser cache...
When you work "with a clear cache", how did you clear the cache?
Have you checked your Web browser cache before and after testing to see if the file is in the browser cache?
In FF you can check by typing "about:cache" in the address bar. In IE, it's a little harder in the new version but in XP you could view directly into the cache.
All that being said, I pupose you could add a time/date component to the file name so that your file always need new data, something like used in news-tickers, etc.
xmlData.load("news_ticker.xml?blarg="+new Date().getTime());
which requires a new time and date appended to this particular xml file, hence always requireing a new version of the file to be loaded.
Perhpas you could adapt that approach.

BI Publisher not working with Web Cache

I'm trying to enable BI Publisher to run from the internet. I have Web Cache (AS10g rel 2) in an internet DMZ, trying to work with BI Publisher running on a AS10g rel 3 server in a application DMZ. BI Publisher won't allow Web Cache to hide the URL after login. It tries to use the application server name as a URL and gets lost, since this is not resolvable from the internet. We have Content DB, other J2EE application installed in this same configuration, and it works fine.
This is duty managed as of today. They required an enhancement request, which I submitted. SR 6696835.993 -

Currently an enhancement - it was logged as that but IMHO its a bug as other Oracle products work OK - it kinda depends on whether its an ORacle strd to work with webcache or not. Suffice to say, we are investigating the issue and will update the er/bug soon.

OBIEE 11g: how to automate browser clearing cache

We upgraded OBIEE 10g to 11g the implementation includes EBS SSO ( which works in 10g).
the SSO functions OK meaning when we login from ERP Bussiness selection responsibilities to the OBIEE dashboard page we can access it and the login succeed.
The thing is that when we change the responsibility to another responsibility the Application role of the user does not updated and the old role ( the user get again the first role that was assigned in the first login ) meaning the role was not changed with the new responsibility.
I think that browser cache find OBIEE session and connect to the session without call /* valueof(NQ_SESSION.ACF) */ APP_SESSION.validate_icx_session('valueof(NQ_SESSION.ICX_SESSION_COOKIE)')
So, to automate browser clearing cache ?

I think this situation is due to a feature of Weblogic
"+The browser caches user credentials and frequently re-sends them to the server automatically. This can give the appearance that WebLogic Server sessions are not being destroyed after logout or timeout. Depending on the browser, the credentials can be cached just for the current browser session, or across browser sessions.+"

I understand the advantage that helps to not make the login process more unnecessary. But I have to disable the feature, otherwise the end-user will not be able to change permission on BI /ERP responsibility and will have totally close the browser. The question is how to disable it (Weblogic feature) ?

Error: This application required an Xtra (ActiveX...) that either does not exist or failed

Hi All,
im having trouble few days now , i hope someone can give me a lead here.
i have a director mx file written in arabic, i open it in Director 11.5, the file behave strangely, very slow publishing process, very slow access to the xtra list.
after publishing (shockwave and html), i open the html, the preloaded start to run but i can see its not reaching 100%, after a while i get the error massage:

In the movie extra list (Modify menu) i can see all extras, and all have "download if needed", but in ActiveX the "download if needed" grays out. i have no idea why
things i try with no success:
uninstall and reinstall shockwave player
check the same file in another machine
exclude and include xtras in Publish Settings > Files
add activex.x32 from other places

Because AX controls aren't SW-safe. You will have to redesign your file to remove the ActiveX control if you want it to run in a browser.

My Safari keeps crashing even after clearing cache/history/etc. Help?

I have tried resetting, clearing cache, and erasing the history. I'm not sure what is going on with my Safari. I did notice I kept getting those "Mackeeper" popups, but I never downloaded it or anything. Could this be the issue? I have looked through other threads and couldn't find a solution to the problem. Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Surely, when you click the search button, the value in your item is required by the report (as a parameter).
Create a button (RESET) with a branch back to the same page and use the clear cache in the branch
