Publishing One Site Vanished Another Site on DotMac

Each time I publish a site to my dot mac account...
It gets rid of the last site I published to dot mac.
When I go a look at the www section of my dot mac account...
It shows ONLY the most recent site I published.
I can go or send people to the new site by giving them the actual address, but I would like ALL my sites to be visible in the www section of my dot mac account.
I am hoping someone can tell me what I am doing wrong here.
Thanks.

Then why do they put anything related to the sites on
the page? If I had created this in homepage on .mac I
could go there within .mac and access all the sites.
I think if what you say is true it should be
considered a bug and dealt with accordingly.
I don't know if it's a bug or not. It's not clear to me just what purpose is served by listing 5 pages each from the HomePage and iWeb iDisk spaces on the .Mac homepage. I have many more sites than that which cannot be reached from the list, so I would not bother trying to use it for that purpose.
In any case it's a .Mac and not an iWeb problem and you might want to raise it in the forums devoted to that.

  • Publish one site at a time

If I have two "sites" on my iweb, how do I publish one at a time. I keep getting messges that I can't connect to iweb. This was during the time I was uploading new pages and each one was going fine. I thought this was because I had too many pages, so I separated them to two "sites". This now shows many pages with changes (as in red folders), but I only want to publish one "site". Anyone have the same issue? It was taking 20 minutes to get the error message.....

I use iWebSites to manage the multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your original Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process and move it to another location on your HD until you're satisfied the separation process is completed and what you want.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

  • Publishing one site to a public domain and a different site to .mac

    Hello,
I previous had a personal website on .mac created with iWeb, everything works great. I also volunteer for a profession society local section and recently made them a new website using my version of iWeb as well. I just created a new site under the file menu. I am using my .mac account to host it in the demo stage for the society. We now want to publish to a public domain but when I select "Publish to a Folder" I get both sites; my personal website of home photos and movies plus the society website. Needless to say the folder is huge and I only want one of the two sites.
?? Is there way of indicating to only publish one site to a folder and not all ??
    Thank you

I found the answer down in the question on iWebSites.

  • Is it possible to publish one site to mac site and another site to a school

I have an "About me" page which I wish students to have access to - but I don't want them to have access to the rest of my site - can I publish either just the "about me" page to a different school server or can I create a new site with just an about me page and publish that site to my school server and my personal site to mac site?

    Yes.
The easiest way is to use separate domain.sites2 files. There are several sites that offer instructions for doing this. One is Apnewbie's Site Separation help page.

  • Publish one site in mobile me and one site on folder

Hi i have one site correctly published with mobile me. I created another with iWeb and I would like to publish on a folder only this last.
When I click on publish on folder, iWeb publish both sites on folder not only one. How can I do?
    Thanks a lot

To add to Terence's suggestion: I use iWebSites to manage over 40 individual sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.

  • Just Publishing One Site Out of Many

I have several different sites in iWeb 09. It appears that now in '09 when I publish it publishes any changes in any of the sites I may have made a change to a particular page. I want to work with a new site without publishing it to mobile me. I recall in'08 you can just publish the page you are working on and not any other page you may have modified.
    Any thoughts about this?
    Thanks,
    Marty

Because publishing is so screwed up in iWeb '09 I would say its even more important to build your sites on separate domain files. This is for convenience and also to get away from '09s nasty habit of renaming files.
I'm already having problems with a site I just built mostly in '08 and converted. It seemed to go well at first but now I'm getting all these irritating errors that seem to have no apparent reason.
The only way I have been able to get rid of them so far is to delete, restart and add again. This is a total pain.
I'm publishing to a local folder and catching these errors before I publish. No wonder people can't publish to MobileMe.

  • How to publish just one site if you have multiple?

I've searched and nothing seems to be quite covering this question, although I admittedly am not the most patient of searchers...
So, I have about 5 sites in my iWeb. I'm trying to publish *one site* to a folder on the hard drive so I can then use my FTP client to publish to my site. Everytime I've done this (published to a folder), iWeb republishes all of my sites, and some are quite large. Anyway around this or am I missing something? I was considering just deleting my old sites from iWeb, but that seems a bit extreme.
    Please help, macster gurus

Hi Audrey, Bear in mind that I haven't tried this myself, but anyway: How about setting up a different User Account on your Mac for each site that you want to publish separately? ...You would then login as the particular user for the site you want to work on and iWeb would then operate on its unique Domain file in:
    Username/Library/Application Support/iWeb
To divide up your current multi-site Domain, I suppose you would have copy it to the above location for each new user account you set up. Then in iWeb delete the sites you don't want that user to control. (Backup your Domain file somewhere safe before embarking on this.)
Adding a new user account to your computer...
You can create individual user accounts for each person who uses your computer. Each new user has a separate home folder and can adjust his or her own preferences without affecting other users.
    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Accounts.
    2. If some settings are dimmed, click the lock icon and type an administrator name and password.
    3. Click Add and type the user's name.
    4. If you don't want to use the short name generated automatically, type a new short name. (Once the account is created, you won't be able to change the short name.)
    5. Type the user's password in the Password and Verify boxes.
    6. Type a hint to help the user remember the password if they have trouble remembering it at login.

  • I have one site but it's got two URLs somehow

The weirdest thing happened when I finally managed to publish with the 1.01 version of iWeb. While I've only published one site, there is now an old version still on the web that everyone sees when typing the url:
    http://web.mac.com/bradsuchy/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html
but if they type in the shortened version, they get the updated version:
    http://web.mac.com/bradsuchy
And with this version, it fills in the rest of the url as:
    http://web.mac.com/bradsuchy/iWeb/326D67D6-88DA-11DA-BDEA-000D93C7D956/Welcome.h tml
    How weird is that?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Any idea how I might get it back to normal (one site
    with a normal name)?
You can, inside iWeb, change the name of your present site from whatever it is to "Site." If you republish (use the Option key to republish all), it should overwrite the current site called "Site". I'm not sure if this will get rid of the site with the long name. If not, just open your iDisk and navigate to Web/Sites/iWeb and trash this folder manually.

  • Publishing more than one site and using more than one computer

I did my sons website in iWeb on my laptop using my own .mac account to publish it. Now I've up graded to a family account, giving my son his own settings etc. I've done my own website now, but when I publish to either mine or his .mac account it seems to go through the process of publishing both sites.
I've also set my son up as a separate user account on my laptop. Can I move his iweb settings so that he can do his website in iweb without seeing mine. I've noticed there's no import function, but surely I could move a folder to a location in his library that will load into iweb. This would be useful because I'd also like to update my own site from the laptop at home and my imac in the office.

    Hi Smartmart,
    I'd like you to have a look at[this page|http://alyeska.altervista.org/en/iWebTransferSite.html]
The only thing that changes is you put it to another user account on the same computer and not to another computer but the procedure is the same. When you move it by using a USB stick or CD or whatever you will then have the domain file on both the accounts. They are now completely independent from each other. So when you make a change to one site it will be saved only to that Domain file and not to the other.
The two websites (yours and your son's website) are now in one Domain file. What you then have to do is, once you have it on both user accounts, delete your website in your son's account and his in yours. The rest will be preserved.
    Regards,
    Cédric
Actually it's quite the same you already posted... I was a bit too slow

  • Move a site from one Mac to another without losing sites already there

I would like to move a site from one Mac to another without losing the websites that I have already built on the other Mac. Transfering the Domain file is not helping. Is there away to open the new domain file and adding those sites to the domain file associated with this copy of iWeb? I have searched the discussions but am not seeing any clear answers. They all seam to invilve new users or losing the sites already on that mac.

I seem to have solved my own problem. This may help other users. I found a tip and a web page that suggested moving the Domain File from the application support folder to another on the desktop on one of the computers and then putting the 2nd Domain File from the other computer in a separate folder on the desktop. This is because you can not change the name of the Domain File . Then by double clicking the Domain File with the site wanted, iWeb opens with that set of sites.
I started with what was to be the new master Domain File and stated a new site with a blank page. saved, did not publish and closed iWeb. Opened from the other Domain File and then clicked and opened the site and page I wanted, then selected all, copied all and closed iweb. Went back to the master Domain File , opened iWeb using that, went to the blank page and pasted in the page from the other Domain File from the other computer. Saved, closed iWeb and repeated till I had all pages. Changed the names to match the sites and Pages. I did not allow iWeb to publish during this process. Took all of 10 minutes and I now have a Domain File with all the sites in one place. I then copied this file back into its original location in Library/application support/iWeb on both computers. I now have all sites in iWeb on both computers.

  • Publishing Just One Site...How Could This Even Be An Issue?

I have been checking the discussion boards looking for an answer to what appears to be a serious design flaw. All I want to do is publish one of the two sites I have created on iWeb. From what I read, the only option I have is to use a freeware program called "iWebsites". Is this true? I can't believe there isn't another reasonable workaround. Someone....a little help please?

There are lots of posts on this subject. The way I do iit is to create indivual domain files in iweb. Once you have created the first move the domain file out of the user library/application support/iweb folder and then click on iweb it will prompt you to open an existing site or to create a new one. Back up the domain file before doing anything, and then keep each domain file as a separate entity. I rename my domains so I know what they are.
To split your existing site make 2 copies of the domain file - make a backup first and move it to an external drive if you can.
Open the 1st copy and delete one of the sites - save and then repeat with the 2nd copy and delete the other site. Now you should have 2 separate domain files. Make sure you have the files in different places before saving - the best way is to move them to an external drive then you can't over write them.
Hope that makes sense - there are some clever people on here how may well put it in better language.

  • Publish more than one site on mobileMe

Hi, I am a new user of Mac and I am trying to create two websites using iWeb, one as personal website and the other one for my association.
I would like to restrict access, using passwords, to different group of users. Can I publish two sites on my mobileMe using two different users'name and password?
    Thank you for your answers

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A little bit about iWebSites. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites..
This lets me edit more than one sites and only republish the one I want.
The URLs for you sites will be: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_accountname/site name

  • Internet Problem - One site will load, another won't. Then mintues later, the site that previously would load won't and the one that wouldn't will. I'm also pulling up a lot of pages in all text. Pics won't load or only one will load and the rest won't...

Several weeks ago, I began to have some very strange internet connection issues. All the lights on my modem stay on and my computer shows full wi-fi signal, but I suddenly I won't be able to load any pages. Other times, I'll be able to load pages from one site, but not another. It's not the same sites all the time though.... sometimes I'll be able to load pages from one site and not another, and then 5 minutes later it'll switch and I'll be able to load pages from the site I previously couldn't and I won't be able to load pages from the site I previously could. A lot of pages are coming up just text with no pics... and then 5 mintues later that site will load normally and another site will come up just text. It does the same thing whether I'm connecting wirelessly or via an ethernet cable. It also doesn't matter which browser I use (I've tried Safari, Chrome, and Firefox). Although, once in a while when using chrome, I get a DNS error page instead of the usual 'cannot find server'. I contacted my service provider and I'm not losing speed or dropping packets. According to them, the problem I'm having is very strange since diagnostic tests show no problems at all. Perhaps someone has run into this before and has a suggestion?

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

  • When I publish my site on one specific page where i've added {tag_pagecontent} I get the error:Some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear browser cache and try again. If the problem persists please contact website author.

When I publish my site on one specific page where I've added {tag_pagecontent} I get the error:
'Some files on the server may be missing or incorrect. Clear browser cache and try again. If the problem persists please contact website author.'
I'm trying to get a blog module going, I've even deleted the html insert bog with the tag in and re-published which then I don't get the error but as a result no blog either. But then I add the tag in again and publish the error comes back. I've used the dev console and it says that my musicians sample.css is out of date but why is it only out of date when I add in html to my muse site?
HELP!!!! I've searched other threads and to no avail I'm publishing so no direct ftp going on. the only thing I changed in business catalyst was the module stylesheet in order to style the blog. I've tried uploading and replacing all files nothing seems to work. the site is here:
    http://www.musicstudentsforhire.co.uk/musicians-samples.html
It's only this page as it has the blog on. Also I've noticed when I've re-published occasionally it will show the mobile version on my desktop and not the desktop version??? no idea why that's happening so I've had to turn that off. any explanation on why that is happening would also be much appreciated.

I haven't received an answer as of yet, I'll post t on here when I do. I de-activated the mobile site because it's my clients site so he needs it to be operational during the day. I hope someone gives me an answer soon.

  • How can I transfer a naviagtion menu from one site to another site?

I have generated a very simple lab web site. http://neurobionet.neurobio.ucla.edu/~feldman/. One page in the main site has a link that takes you to a list of publications (i.e., click on Publications). This page that has the list is really just another iWeb generated site. I would like to have the same navigation menu on both sites. Is this possible? I do not mind mucking around the code if necessary.
Also are there any plans to have simple niceties like anchors incorporated into iWeb? In the same Publications page, it would be great if people could go directly to the year that they wanted to. Right now, the only way to do that would be to generate a separate page for each 5 year grouping.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
If both sites are WITHIN one iWeb domain.sites file- as in you've created them in the same account and in the same computer - you can drag&drop pages from one site to another.
If they're created on two seperate accounts, you can't. Migrating 2 domain.sites files into one single file would be the outmost nightmare.
The navbar is dynamically created from the available pages. This is cool.
I've got some expertise on modding the templates - i've even created a whole new style navigation-bar and know quite well what can be done.
members.chello.nl/haan2 for more info on this stuff...
    Workaround...
in iWeb with the site open which has got most of the stuff, create new pages based on copy/paste from a browser.
You still can have two "sites", albeit in 1 account.
BACKUP your domain.sites file before attempting these kind of things.
    It's located in ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb
    Regards,
    Paul
