Publishing Perspectives and Categories as Portlets in 10g (9.0.4)

We have upgraded from Application Server R2 to 10g (904). Now trying to re-build the pages we had. However, I cannot see how to publish categories and perspectives as portlets - which was very easy in the previous version.
Am I missing something? Any help would be great.

You can publish your categories and perspectives as items:
Add item > Built-In Navigation Item Types > List of Objects [enable it if it's not in the list by clicking on the "configure the list of available item types" link] > Select objects to add to your list > Categories ...

  • Portal, JAZN, Perspectives and Categories - oh my

Using only java, how do I connect to the OID server, and find out if a specific user is part of a particular perspecive or category defined in portal?
Simple example: I want to know if user named "bob" is a member of the "HR" perspective. Eventually, it would be great to have this as a taglib.
I want to create a web app (Running in a different OC4J than portal) using jDeveloper that authorizes pages based on the security a person has in portal. How can this be done.
Is there a documented relationship between OID data and Portal User data. Can the two be used together?
Can someone post example code, or post a link to documentation that describes this?

On the first question, users are not classified in to
perspectives or categories ... only the Portal
content is classified that way. So, unless I'm
misunderstanding your question, there's no way to
determine if Bib is a member of the HR Perspective,
because there's no way to associate him with that
    perspective in the first place.
Just thinking out loud, but it doesn't make sense that a data driven ORACLE product wouldn't store this information in a relational structure that could be accessed. Just my .02 on that one. Thanks for the feedback!
On the second question, this one is fairly
straightforward. When building your web app, you
should define J2EE security-roles that you want to
map to the OID-based Portal groups.
Place J2EE security-constraints on the pages you want
to secure, referencing the security-roles you
    defined.
Then, when deploying the app, map the J2EE security
roles to the OID-based groups. You can do this in
the deployment plan, and you should see the mapping
reflected in the orion-web.xml file. You should set
the security provider for your app to Oracle Identity
Management. See how to do this in the OC4J Security
Guide.Working on this now. Thank you for the guidance!

  • Ways to put Multiple discoverer worksheets in a single Portlet. (10G releas

    Hi all
Can anybody suggest me ways to put Multiple discoverer worksheets in a single Portlet. (10G release 2)
    - Out of the box (no coding option)
    - Java Beans options
Note:- the discoverer sheet portlet allows only 1 workseet.
Would appreciate any pointers/help in this regard
    Cheers!!
    Puneet

    Hi Puneet,
Discoverer portlets do not require any knowledge of code, Java beans, HTML, or any other programming construct. They are probably the simplest and easiest to use business intelligence portlets in the market today, and most customers I show these to are simply amazed at their power and user friendliness.
    Anyway, to answer your question:
    - You can choose to have one table (or crosstab) and one graph in one Discoverer portlet.
Note that since a Discoverer portlet is published on a Portal page, you do not have to worry about having or not having the capability to publish more than one Discoverer worksheet to a single portlet. By adding multiple Discoverer portlets to a single (or multiple) Portal pages you can achieve the same effect.
Discoverer is a portlet provider to Oracle Portal. This means that any Discoverer worksheet - table, crosstab, or any of the 50+ graph types - can be published to an Oracle Portal page without any coding. This is the Discoverer Worksheet portlet.
A second Discoverer portlet is the List of Worksheets portlet, which allows you to publish a list of worksheets to a Portal page as a portlet.
The third Discoverer portlet type is the Gauge portlet. This allows you to publish a Discoverer crosstab worksheet as a Gauge (dial) visualization, allowing you to create dashboards.
For more information take a look at the "Oracle® Business Intelligence Discoverer Publishing Workbooks in Oracle Application Server Portal" doc, 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.1), Part No B14465-02

HI Paul, I'm not sure what the question is. If you meant that the communities are listed on the front page, then yes they are, but that view does not include links to specific categories, such as Airprint for the iPad. The list provides a way of finding direct shortcuts to these filtered sections of communities, either for your own use as a bookmark or when recommending a potentially useful area of the site to explore in your answers to others.

  • Inserting a link to BI Publisher report and passing the dashboard prompts

I have an answers dashboard where there are various prompts (say P1, P2, P3, P4  -all these are date prompts )and various  reports.
These Prompts are stored as Presentation variable say var1, var2, var3, var4.
I need to insert a Link on this page to a BI Publisher Report.  BI Publisher report also has some prompts say D1, D2, D3 , D4, D5, D6
The link should take the values from the prompts of this page and open the BI Publisher report with D1= value of Prompt P1,
D2= value of prompt P2, D3= value of Prompt P3, and D4= value of Prompt P4.
I was easily able to use an action link -> "Navigate to Web Page" option.  I gave the URL for this BI Publisher report and clicking on that link takes me to the report.
But I am still figuring out out to send the values of the prompts.
The BI Publisher Report is :
    - built from an RTF template.
    - uses a SQL Query with Bind variables to get the value of its prompts D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6.
    - Suppose D1 is bind variable :date1, D2 is bind variable :date2, D3 is bind variable :date3 and D4 is bind variable :dat4.
So my first try was to append the value of bind variable to the URL
    https://xxname.server.com/analytics/saw.dll?bipublisherEntry&Action=open&itemType=.xdo&bipPath=%2FSurvey%2FPhoneCount%20Record.xdo&path=%2Fshared%2FSurvey%2FPhoneCount%20Record.xdo.xdo&date1=var1
Can someone suggest the steps I need to take to make this work.
    Thanks

  • Sample JAVA Mobile Server Publish code, and technical questions

Dear Oracle technical representative, or user:
I need to programmatically create, and remove publications using the pure JAVA classes of Consolidator, ConsolidatorManager, and ResourceManager for the Mobile Server in OracleLite 9i Release 5.0.1. On the creation side I have managed to get the example found in the directory OraLite501\Mobile\Server\Sample\Sample11 functioning using my installation parameters. I had a very difficult time of it because (1) the sample11 code fails to open an jdbc connection to the Mobile Server Repository Schema with the function Consolidator.OpenConnection, and (2) the ResourceManager function openConnection will not work unless the Webtogo.ora file is in the current working directory. The ConsolidatorManager function OpenConnection may also not work unless the Webtogo.ora file is in the current working directory, but I did test the hypothesis. Both of these problems need to be addressed in the sample11 code, and documentation to save other software developers from wasting hours of their valuable time. See line 223, 386, and 448 in the Publish.Java code that follows this problem description.
With the above two problems resolved, I can now programmatically create publications, but no hints on how to programmatically remove a publication exist in the documentation. The application I am developing will require the dynamic creation, and removal of publications. Also, when developing applications the complete removal of a publication is absolutely necessary when you have botched a publication. Thus my first question is What sequence of ResourceManager, and ConsolidatorManager function calls will completely remove a Publication?.
I also have two issues remaining with the code that I have so far developed. These issues will most likely be resolved, when I obtain instructions on how to completely remove a publication, and associated users. But, perhaps not. Referencing the Publish.java file that follows this problem description,
         1. The ResourceManager function dropUser does not drop a user. See my comments, and code beginning at line 277 in Publish.java. Do I need to de-instantiate all subscriptions, and unsubscribe all subscription users before calling this function.? I think, I tried the de-instantiate, unsubscribe sequence without success, but in the confusion I may not have made the try.
         2. How do I get rid of an index created with the ConsolidatorManager function DropPublicationItemIndex?. My comments on this problem begin at line 522 in Publish.java. For some reason the DropPublicationItemIndex function call made below line 448 does not work. What function calls are required prior to calling the DropPublicationItemIndex function?
Throughout the Publish.java code, I have made comments about some of the problems that I have had in getting the sample11 code working for my installation parameters. I think these comments should help the programmers maintaining the ResourceManager, and ConsolidatorManager code improve the stability of the programs. Please pass these comments, and attached files to the appropriate individuals,
if you are in a position to do so.
The other files that follow the Publish.java code are
         1. Compile.bat - Compiles Publish.java using j2sdk1.4.0.
         2. Run.bat - Executes Publish using \ j2sdk1.4.0\jre\server\jvm.dll.
         3. Webtogo.ora
         4. tnsnames.ora for the Mobile Server.
         5. tnsnames.ora for the Database.
Feel free to access my server if you need to do so in resolving my problems. The parameters you will need to gain access can be found at the top of Publish.java, and in the included *.ora files.
    Thanks,

    Thanks,
    Thomas G. Matney

  • Can I import HTMLs from inside the project and use as portlet page ?

As you know, I am using Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 for my current portal project. I have created JSR-168 JSF Portlet Project for my portlet development.
As I have some html pages ready for my development,
Can I import HTMLs from inside the project and use as portlet page for my project?
    I did the followings steps:
1: In side the project - File -> Add Existing Item -> Web Page ( imported test.html page from my local folder)
2: Let it convert some of the tags for me ( so now it becomes - test.jsp )
3: Set it to initial view.
    4. A default portlet page newPortletPage.jsp is still there with no initial view.
Now after doing this, No Visual Designer and Properties window available to for that test.jsp page. Though it allowed me to build the project successfully.
When I build and run the portlet application, got the error message Error occurred in portlet! on Pluto Portal. Please advice.

You do not open fcpproject files. You don't double click or anything else. The files have to be in the correct folder structure in the Final Cut Projects folder and the application opens them automatically. Can you post screen shots of the Final Cut Projects folder and its location.

  • Site seems to publish fine, and shows up correctly in Preview in console, but doesn't push to www

this was working fine for weeks.
on muse, site changes seem to go fine and when i publish it seem to suggest the correct site name with the www.domainname.com  below it.   publish action on muse seems fine.
when i look in the admin console, and hit the Preview i see the modified site... but when i go to the www.domainname.com  it isn't updated.
the piece of disclosure/info here is that the machine i'm on was on a network that we decided to take off of domain/domain controller and go back to simple workgroup.   when i launched muse the first time, i had forgotten to move some of the setup folders back in to the new user directory.  this particular site was the only one i opened prior to getting those adobe and adobe muse folders moved.   i did try to publish it and had to pick which of my sites to publish to, but that all seemed ok.    my other sites (opened after moving the folders) all update fine, show up in Preview in console, and at the live www
if a catalyst person grabs this, i'm happy to give you account and site stuff if that helps.

    hi sanjit,
back at my desk where i have muse installed.   i just re-built and
published the modified site on muse, and sent it.
i still just see the old site at the www.'domain'.com.   i hit 'manage' in
muse to pull up my console for that site.   in 'preview' tab there i looked
at one of the changed pages, and it shows up in preview in console.    in
    www.   no changes show.
i can make small changes (make a period a semicolon) and always see the
changed pages in preview tab of console but not at www.
i'll see if i can figure out the support case request below and get a
    number to forward to you.

Can there be any external hard disks - if so How is/are it/they formatted ? Must be Mac OS Extended (hfs) if used for Video.
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most but not for VIDEO.
What this means in Your situation is above me.
    • free space on internal boot hard disk? How much ?
    Pictures
    • in what format ? .jpg, .bmp, .tif, else ?
    Audio

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

  • Issue caused by change of Publisher ID and Product ID?

I developed a Windows Phone app for a charity free of charge. I was developing the app under my own moniker and submitted all my code to a GitHub repository they had from when they had the iPhone app developed. When it came to publishing the app,
it was one of their IT own staff which did the job, not me, and they registered themselves with Microsoft.  They received a new Publisher ID and Product ID as part of the app submittal process and updated GitHub.
I downloaded the changes from GitHub and am no longer able to run the app from Visual Studio (2013 Ultimate) on an emulator or a physical device.  I can revert back to the original files for Package.appxmanifest, WMAppManifest.xml and the app is
able to run.  However, this leaves me running with out of date code.
Is the issue that I am not a registered developer with their Publisher ID?  If not, then what is the solution, other than running with the original files?  I have seen other suggestions that it may be the SplashScreen causing the issue but that
    is not the issue here.
    Thx

    Hi petro_jemes,
Just a little claritification, you need to add the value to the variable "[string]$ou", and also change the language in the variable "$emailbody" in the function "Get-ADUserPasswordExpirationDate".
    I hope this helps.
