Publishing Podcast "Title"??

The nightmare continues. With no response from anyone at Apple as to why our college sports podcasts have not been updated on our iTunes site...
I have tried to create a new iTunes site.
When submitting the new Podcast page I get an error message:
"We require that feeds include a title" with no links or info as to how to do this.
This was never an issue before...
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there
Sorry, but it's a bug in Captivate 4.
Two things.
Please report it as a bug (even though Adobe is aware of it - The more that report it the more likely we will see it fixed)
You will need to manually edit and change your HTML to have the Title reflect what you want

  • My podcast is now live on itunes but I would like to change the name under the Podcast title from my real name to artist name. How can i do this?

I have started a podcast page where i will be uploading weekly radio shows. Id like for it to say my artist name not my real name under the Podcast Title but i cant seem to see how to change that. Can someone please help?
    Thank you!

Your name is normally carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and appears in smaller print above the title. You can change either this or the title itself in the same place in whatever program you are using to make your podcast and reupload the feed. You don't need to take any further action; the Store willn probably take a few days to update.
However, if you are going to change the title be careful: some podcast creatioin methods give the rss file a filename drawn from the title, and if you change the title it may change that. You can't have that happen because the Store will lose contact with the feed if its URL changes (there is a way round this which I will explain if you really need me to - do not proceed without checking on this). If your feed filename is something like rss.xml or feed.xml then there isn't a problem about the title.

  • Podcast title has a boxed "clean" next to it

Was is the meaning of this boxed "clean" at the end of the podcast title?

This is more about the explicit tag (the opposite of clean). If it says clean, there may be a version that contains some of the following...
This is from iTunes help (Help-->iTunes and Music Store help, search explicit, title is parental advisories.)
You can also double click the explict tag in the iTunes Music Store (if you find a song with them). That should open a page with an explanation of everything.
    Clean Lyrics...
The use of the clean lyrics label is to differentiate the edited version of an album or song whose content has been modified from its original form so that it does not require the Parental Advisory Label.
    Explicit Lyrics
Advisory for the Music Store: The following is derived from the Recording Industry Association of America Parental Advisory website at www.riaa.com.
The Parental Advisory is a notice to consumers that recordings identified by this logo may contain strong language or depictions of violence, sex or substance abuse. Parental discretion is advised.
The use of the Parental Advisory Label is not a determination of whether a recording is or is not appropriate for particular listeners. Rather, the non-removable Label is a "heads up" to parents (and consumers, retailers, and wholesalers) that parental discretion is advised when purchasing the particular recording for children or when listening to the recording in the home.
The following issues may have been considered in making a determination regarding application of the Label.
Whether, in light of contemporary cultural morals and standards and the choices and views of individual parents, the recording might be one that parents may not want their child to listen to.
Context is obviously important: some words, phrases, sounds, or descriptions might be offensive to parents if spotlighted or emphasized, but might not offend if merely part of the background or not a meaningful part of the lyrics.
The context of the artist performing the material, as well as the expectations of the artist's audience, is also important. In addition to profanity, "depictions of violence, sex, or substance abuse" must be considered when making a determination regarding the application of the Parental Advisory Label.
Lyrics are often susceptible to varying interpretations. Words can have different meanings. Also, words cannot be viewed in isolation from the music that accompanies them. Lyrics when accompanied by loud and raucous music can be perceived differently than the same lyrics when accompanied by soft and soothing music.
Labeling is not a science; it requires sensitivity and common sense. Context, frequency, and emphasis are obviously important; isolated or unintelligible references to certain material might be insufficient to warrant application of the Label.
These guidelines apply to the case of a single track commercially released as well as to full albums (whether released in the form of a CD, cassette or any other configuration).

  • Editing a Podcast Title

I accidentally typed in "blog" instead of "podcast" when I was submitting my iTunes. So now its like " ---- ---- --- blog" isntead of "---- ---- --- podcast" on the download page in the iTunes store.
How do I change the title on the download page? Would appreciate any help.
    HP Pavilion   Windows XP

    Simple.
Go back to ITMS, and submit a new podcast using your current XML file but with the corrected podcast title. Once your new podcast is accepted, ask ITMS to have your old incorrectly titled podcast removed.

  • Display Podcast Titles in Landscape? (or scroll?)

Is there any way to make my new touch either scroll podcast titles or display them in Landscape?
Many to Most of my podcasts are serialized material where the first few words are the overall title. This happens in both the Podcast list and the Episode list inside a specific podcast.
On my Video, the names used to scroll across. They do not do that on the Touch. When I hold it sideways to trigger Landscape mode, it starts displaying music titles instead of the Podcasts I was just looking at.
Is there an answer to this I've missed?
    ps - it's running 2.2.1

Apple has said ( http://www.apple.com/iphone/preview-iphone-os/ ) that 3.0 will let read and compose email and text messages in landscape.
We'll just have to wait and see what that means.

  • Re Creation of Site Assets Library after Publishing site Title update

For some reason we don't need Site Assets library in publishing site so we have decided to delete that. But after Publishing site Title update Site Assets Library is getting re created . What would be the possible reason for that . Whether Publishing
feature is getting reactivated whenever title is getting updated.
Ashish Baranwal || To know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge

    Hi Ashish,
SharePoint Designer has the setting "Hide from Browser' to hide the List/Library from browser.
It only restrict the user to view the List/Library links from browser, but if user directly use the URL to reach that List/Library and the user can edit or add new items.
Better set the ready only permission to users and set the "Hide from Browser" to the Site Assets library through SharePoint Designer.
Follow the steps to hide the Site Assets Library through Designer:
In Site Object Section, Select Lists and Libraries
Select Site Assets Library on right side, it's navigate to List Settings
In List settings-> General Settings, Uncheck option “Display this list on quick launch”. [This is necessary], Check the “Hide from browser”.
    Save the list.
Now the links are hidden from SharePoint Site in browser.
Follow the steps to Unhide the Site Assets Library through Designer:
    Open SharePoint designer 2010.
Click the “All Files” folder at the bottom in left pane.
Right click your hidden list from “All Files -> Lists” folder and choose property.
Now you have your hidden list open in SharePoint Designer.
In List settings-> General Settings: Uncheck the “Hide from browser” and save.
Now the links are visible in SharePoint Site.

  • Publishing podcasts with Leopard Server

I like how the Leopard Blog tool allows me to quickly and easily publish a podcast series and hides the process of creating the RSS feed from my low tech users. However, I do not see a GUI provided for managing the Podcast Series description, only the episode title and description. Once I subscribe to a podcast in iTunes the default series description is
"This is a podcast for Users/<user name>. If I submit the users podcast series to iTunes, this unhelpful description will be visible to subscribers. Is there a way with the current GUI to change this description? if not, it seems I'll have to edit the rss feed for every user after every new episode published?

Now I have discovered, the RSS feed is not in a location I can find. When I check the url for the subscribe in itunes, I get:
    itpc://domian/username/blog/index.its
This URL does not help me find the index.its file which I would like to manually edit to add a podcast description. Any idea how to find it?
    Keith

  • Changing Podcast Title & Info

I changed the title of my podcast and some of the info (like summary, description, etc.). I then pinged the URL as the tech specs described and the ping was successful.
But the new title and new info is not showing up in the music store. Is it just a matter of time or did I do something wrong?

The title is carried in the 'title' tag in the feed: amend this and the Store will pick up the change after a couple of days. If you are using a program or service to create your feed you should be able to change the title and re-publish.
However, if your program creates a URL based on the title of your podcast it will change the URL, which then won't be seen by iTunes. In order to get round this you are going to have to go through a process:
Download your present feed from your server.
Change the name in your program and re-publish. This will produce a new feed, with the changed title, on your server.
In the original feed you downloaded, add this in the top section, after the 'channel' tag:
<itunes:new-feed-url>FULL URL OF YOUR NEW FEED</itunes:new-feed-url>
Upload this modified feed to the server.
The iTunes Store will change to your new feed, probably fairly quickly, though it may take a couple of days before the title change shows.
If you are using an online service which doesn't give you access to the server, you are stuck. It's either put up with no title or start over as a new podcast and submit that afresh to the Store.
And please, when you have a query, post your feed and Store page URLs.

  • Error Publishing Podcast to ITunes using IWeb

I am getting the following error publishing my podcast to Itunes using Iweb.
We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500
When I checked the rss.xml doc that iweb generates, it is very different from what itunes gives as an example. Do you guys plan on making your software match to the Itunes requirements so that it will post. I can edit and upload the xml file, but when iweb publishes again it will simply change it back to the wrong file.
Is there an update coming? What should I do?

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that from GarageBand the only podcast option is to send it to iWeb. The option exists: "send song" to iTunes, but not "send podcast" directly to iTunes. I don't know if there's a meaningful difference between "song" and "podcast," but I've decided to wait.
I contacted Apple (apparently I haven't yet exhausted my free tech-support options since the purchase of this MacBookPro) and was told that the problem is most likely with iTunes. We'll see what the iTunes team has to say...
Further info I've learned: the audio podcast episode somehow got converted to a ".mov" file somewhere along it's path from being created in GarageBand to it's submission to iTunes. This is still a mystery to me as I specifically chose "MP3" when sending the episode from GarageBand to iWeb. Apple tech-support has passed me along the chain to the iTunes folks who only do tech support via email. So we'll see...

  • How do I update podcast title, artist & artwork without affecting URL or subscribers?

Is this possible? I currently produce an iTunes podcast entitled "The Drop" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-drop/id491023811).  The listing is currently as "The Drop" by "15 STEP & mass7." I'd like to update this listing to "The Drop Radio" by "The Drop." However, if this creates a URL change or affects subscribers, I'd simply want to change the artist to "The Drop." I'd also like to replace the artwork, and update our description.
Just to reiterate - I would need to do all of these without affecting our URL, subscribers, and ideally the ability to search for us on iTunes and google. Again, not sure if this is possible, but any insight is much appreciated.  Our feed URL is thedropoffical.podomatic.com.
Also, is it possible that I can simply make these changes on my host's site? If so, again would that change or effect our current URL, subscribers, and ability to search for our show?
    Thanks!

You can only make changes in Podomatic, which creates your podcast and feed. The feed URL is
    http://thedropoffical.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
so it looks as if 'thedropofficial' is the login, and the feed URL won't be changed if you change the title. If Podomatic have any support you should check this with them.
Assuming that changing the title doesn't change the URL you can change the description and title by going to wherever in Podomatic you entered them in the first place and changing them there. You can change the image but you should give the new image a different filename.
Changes will take a couple of days to show in the Store - the image will probably take some days to change - subscribers will see the changes immediately and will not be adversely affected by them.

  • 'Hiding' a (published) podcast until a future publication date

I have a valid XML feed.
How do I 'hide' items from view until a date in the future?
    I have <pubDate>Tue, 10 Jul 2007 12:00:00 -0700</pubDate>
set for example, but the podcast still shows up as available now.
How can I publish but not make an item available/visible until a date in the future?
    Thanks!

    Roger,
I assume that you want it to become available at a specific time because you aren't able to upload it at that time, so you want to pre-upload it?
    Exactly
I have infinite control over when - just that it's a podcast with more than a dozen episodes, each one of which needs to become available/visible at intervals of a week.
I suppose I'll just have to do a lot of pasting... write the whole file with all its <item>s and add them each week?
    Thanks!

  • Do you have any idea, why I can see only 15 episodes of my 59 published podcasts?

    I need your help...
I`ve already published 59 podcasts (TomsTalkTime - DER Erfolgspodcast), but my audience can only see the last 15 episodes published in iTunes. Why is that? Can anyone help me?
Thank you so much for your help.
    Best
    Tom

For reference, your feed is at http://erfolg.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
The 15 episodes which appear in the Store and when subscribing are what is in the feed. The usual explanation for this is that the method used to create your podcast - in this case Podomatic - limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, moving older ones to an archive page and out of the feed. There is usually a setting to increase this number, though I can't advise on Podomatic.

  • International characters not showing up correctly in Podcast Title-Is UTF-8

In the 'Podcast Information' window that pops up, the Episode title is not getting rendered correctly but the details show up fine. Both have chinese characters.
Any pointers for resolving this would be appreciated.

If sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, then there must be a difference in the way you are doing it. And you can work out what's happening from analyzing what you're doing when it works compared with what you're doing when it doesn't work.
For example, if you type the description into the blogging software, you might just be typing the ' key. While some writing software (word for example) will automatically turn on smart quotes which your blogging software will be escaping into HTML code. The character ' doesn't need escaping, but smart quotes do.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Captivate 8, Publish, Project Title isn't remembered if it is the same as file name

    Example:
Publish a Captivate 8 project and change the Project Title to 'Test'
    Save the project as 'FinalTest'
Publish the project again and change the Project Title to 'FinalTest' (It should be remember 'Test' from before)
Publish the project again and notice the Project Title is still 'Test'
    Workaround
Save the project temporarily as something else
    Publish the project as 'FinalTest'
    Save the project as 'FinalTest'
    Adobe PLEASE FIX

I am having the same issue and it is particularly frustrating when you are continuously publishing for testing. I tried to follow the workaround but still could not get the project title to stick in the 'Publish to My Computer' dialog box.

  • Photos Missing from Published Podcast

I am attempting to publish my podcast using Garageband 3.0.2 and iWeb 1.1.1. Everything EXCEPT the podcast track is publishing. I've tried it twice. When I review prior to publishing, the photos in the podcast track all work perfectly. However, when I publish, it the episode artwork is all that I see.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This is the GarageBand 1 forum and GarageBand 1 doesn't have any podcasting features. I'd suggest you post this in the GB3 forum where you're more likely to get help from someone that knows about GB3's podcasting features.
