Publishing podcast

I produced a podcast that used to be available on ITunes thorugh my RSS feed.  It seems my RSS feed went black a few months ago but now is up as it was before.  The podcast can no longer be searched through ITunes and my subscribers can no longer access the episodes.  I attempted to reregester the podcast using the working RSS feed but ITunes gives me an error message.  How can I get my podcast back up? (I have just recorded another episode.
The url for the rss feed is   http://serge13102.libsyn.com/rss
Thanks for the help

Serge,
You also had an error in your RSS feed - I went into your account and fixed the issue.
Try and re-submit it now.  If you still can't get it in - please send me the iTunes store URL you previously had for your show to

  • Error Publishing Podcast to ITunes using IWeb

I am getting the following error publishing my podcast to Itunes using Iweb.
We had difficulty reading this feed. Bad http result code: 500
When I checked the rss.xml doc that iweb generates, it is very different from what itunes gives as an example. Do you guys plan on making your software match to the Itunes requirements so that it will post. I can edit and upload the xml file, but when iweb publishes again it will simply change it back to the wrong file.
Is there an update coming? What should I do?

Thanks for the suggestion. It seems that from GarageBand the only podcast option is to send it to iWeb. The option exists: "send song" to iTunes, but not "send podcast" directly to iTunes. I don't know if there's a meaningful difference between "song" and "podcast," but I've decided to wait.
I contacted Apple (apparently I haven't yet exhausted my free tech-support options since the purchase of this MacBookPro) and was told that the problem is most likely with iTunes. We'll see what the iTunes team has to say...
Further info I've learned: the audio podcast episode somehow got converted to a ".mov" file somewhere along it's path from being created in GarageBand to it's submission to iTunes. This is still a mystery to me as I specifically chose "MP3" when sending the episode from GarageBand to iWeb. Apple tech-support has passed me along the chain to the iTunes folks who only do tech support via email. So we'll see...

  • 'Hiding' a (published) podcast until a future publication date

I have a valid XML feed.
How do I 'hide' items from view until a date in the future?
    I have <pubDate>Tue, 10 Jul 2007 12:00:00 -0700</pubDate>
set for example, but the podcast still shows up as available now.
How can I publish but not make an item available/visible until a date in the future?
    Thanks!

    Roger,
I assume that you want it to become available at a specific time because you aren't able to upload it at that time, so you want to pre-upload it?
    Exactly
I have infinite control over when - just that it's a podcast with more than a dozen episodes, each one of which needs to become available/visible at intervals of a week.
I suppose I'll just have to do a lot of pasting... write the whole file with all its <item>s and add them each week?
    Thanks!

  • Do you have any idea, why I can see only 15 episodes of my 59 published podcasts?

    I need your help...
I`ve already published 59 podcasts (TomsTalkTime - DER Erfolgspodcast), but my audience can only see the last 15 episodes published in iTunes. Why is that? Can anyone help me?
Thank you so much for your help.
    Best
    Tom
    https://itunes.apple.com/de/podcast/tomstalktime-der-erfolgspodcast/id575416240? mt=2

For reference, your feed is at http://erfolg.podomatic.com/rss2.xml
The 15 episodes which appear in the Store and when subscribing are what is in the feed. The usual explanation for this is that the method used to create your podcast - in this case Podomatic - limits the number of episodes shown in the feed, moving older ones to an archive page and out of the feed. There is usually a setting to increase this number, though I can't advise on Podomatic.

  • Photos Missing from Published Podcast

I am attempting to publish my podcast using Garageband 3.0.2 and iWeb 1.1.1. Everything EXCEPT the podcast track is publishing. I've tried it twice. When I review prior to publishing, the photos in the podcast track all work perfectly. However, when I publish, it the episode artwork is all that I see.
Thanks in advance for your help.

This is the GarageBand 1 forum and GarageBand 1 doesn't have any podcasting features. I'd suggest you post this in the GB3 forum where you're more likely to get help from someone that knows about GB3's podcasting features.

  • Publishing podcasts with Leopard Server

I like how the Leopard Blog tool allows me to quickly and easily publish a podcast series and hides the process of creating the RSS feed from my low tech users. However, I do not see a GUI provided for managing the Podcast Series description, only the episode title and description. Once I subscribe to a podcast in iTunes the default series description is
"This is a podcast for Users/<user name>. If I submit the users podcast series to iTunes, this unhelpful description will be visible to subscribers. Is there a way with the current GUI to change this description? if not, it seems I'll have to edit the rss feed for every user after every new episode published?

Now I have discovered, the RSS feed is not in a location I can find. When I check the url for the subscribe in itunes, I get:
    itpc://domian/username/blog/index.its
This URL does not help me find the index.its file which I would like to manually edit to add a podcast description. Any idea how to find it?

  • IWEB publishing PODCAST.. There's a problem

    There's a problem with iWEB
    1) I made my podcasts in iWEB
    2) I published them to web.me.com
    3) It worked very fine. I can see them all in my page.
    4) BUT
    5) I made other pages in iWEB ex) BLOG
    6) I published them (I did not edited or touched podcast pages)
    7) It worked fine.
    8) BUT when I click my podcast, I can see just texts without podcast content.
I can't see podcast movie clips
    9) So, I tried to publish whole pages. Then I can see my podcast.
    10) That's my problem.
    11) When I publish my iWEB pages to my site,
    12) I should include podcast pages to publish ( even though I didn't touched those pages.)
    13) Publish Whole Sites / or / Include podcast pages in Publishing ( It's bothering me everytime
I can't figure out this problem.
Is there someone can solve this problem?

try duplicating the podcast page - or cut and create a new page - and see if that remedies the situation

  • Import of already published podcasts.

I already have a podcast on iTunes. I have been using Podcast Maker by Potion Factory. How well does the new podcasting capabilities in iLife 6 intergrate with already published feeds and material? or do I have to start all over?

I'm happy someone asked this question. I'm sure a number of podcast creators will want to explore what is possible with GarageBand and iWeb. The RSS created by iWeb needs to be automatically generated and you cannot take an existing Podcast RSS file and import it.
However, you can copy and past the descriptions and add the enclosures to iWeb and it makes it very easy to rebuild your podcast. The big difference you will notice right away is fast and simple it is to add a new episode from GB to iWeb.
I should explain a few things:
    1. GarageBand only creates a single Episode.
    2. iWeb all of the episodes for your podcast and automatically creates both the webpage, the summary of episodes and all RSS for the podcast.
    3. GarageBand has a new menu called "Share" which has a "Share with iWeb" feature. When you use this, it automatically adds the incomming episode to your podcast and when you click the publish button, uploads the new episode, changes to the website and RSS file all at once. If you use .Mac its super easy since you don't have to fuss with FTP, etc.
Check out the videos located here:

These talk all about how to use iLife'06 as a podcast creation and publishing tool.

  • WordPress-published podcasts -- recent problem

Ever since about March 22, the podcast that I publish using WordPress displays nothing in the "Artist" column in iTunes. It had previously been working, so I've been trying to figure out what had changed in my process that was causing me to lose that info, but I couldn't find it.
However, I just realized that the same problem started afflicting some podcasts that I subscribe to, and it happened to all of them that same week. I've been able to show that one of them is using WordPress as well; in the case of NPR, I couldn't tell if they were using WP or not.
Still, I think it's pretty clear that something has changed in iTunes that loses the Artist column info on podcasts being published with Word Press. I don't recall, but maybe there was an iTunes update that week.
    What can be done?!

I'm as well. Could it be the new firmware 1.2.1? It just started for me after I updated to it

  • Publishing Podcast "Title"??

The nightmare continues. With no response from anyone at Apple as to why our college sports podcasts have not been updated on our iTunes site...
I have tried to create a new iTunes site.
When submitting the new Podcast page I get an error message:
"We require that feeds include a title" with no links or info as to how to do this.
This was never an issue before...
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi there
Sorry, but it's a bug in Captivate 4.
    Two things.
Please report it as a bug (even though Adobe is aware of it - The more that report it the more likely we will see it fixed)

  • Publishing Podcast Results Zero Enhancements

I'm using Garageband '08. I started a new podcast episode and added chapters, artwork, and links to go along with my music.
    Here's my problem:
When I go to Share -> +Export Podcast To Disk...+, everything exports as usual, but when I open the file in Quicktime or iTunes, none of the enhancements that I added show up.
Yes, the Podcast Track is shown before I export it, and yes I am exporting with the AAC encoder.
I even tried starting from scratch on a new episode. When I exported that, I still got an non-enhanced m4a file.

I have fixed this problem: It turns out that Garageband was outputting an enhanced AAC file, however I had on my computer a broken installation of Quicktime. Re-installing Quicktime solved the problem.

  • Lion podcast producer can't publish to Lion apple wiki

Hi,Buddies, We're using Podcast Producer on Lion to publish podcast to Lion wiki, use lion podcast composer to define publish to lion wiki/blog server and deploy workflow to PCP server successfully, When we used lion podcast capture to send podcast to pcp server, checked in xgrid agent log and it always stopped at following and say 404 not found with http error, also I found url for posting to wiki is still old architecture of snow leopard, the lion wiki or blog url should be like this http://wiki.edu/wiki/projects/test or http://wiki.edu/wiki/people/U0K4j3h/blog, it's odd! I thought I would post back with the solution I finally found in case someone else runs across this. I was going crazy!
This link and the comments in reply to the topic show what the problem is. I could not find it in any Apple documentation so I'm very grateful to those who posted at this link, "Mounting a shared file system for Xgrid":
    http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20100609114725470
Basically, Xgrid agents don't have permission to access folders pointed to under /Volumes. The solution is to provide the complete network path in your workflow, starting with /Network/Servers/<servername>/<path to folder>.
As long as the Podcast Producer Xgrid user (in my case, "pcastxgrid") has permission to the directory exported and once the full path is in your workflow the agents can publish to the folder. Again, thanks to those who posted to the hints at macworld.
