Publishing RoboHelp 8 Project

I've downloaded a trial version of RoboHelp 8 and I've
created a Web Application Help project. It looks good and runs well
when I generate it. My question is, how do I get the files I
created onto a server? I have in a folder called "WebHelpTest1"
that resides in the "My RoboHelp Projects" folder. Do I put the
entire WebHelpTest1 folder onto the server? Probably not...any help
is appreciated. Thanks

Hi there
Indeed the entire contents of your output folder should be
copied to the server.

  • RoboEngine is not publishing RoboHelp Projects

    Hi All,
We are currently using RoboHelp 2.0 that is installed on Windows NT box. We wanted to migrate our RoboHelp Projects from NT box to Windows 2003 Server.
I have installed RoboEngine Configuration Manager 2.00.082 on Windows 2003 server but not able to publish the existing projects.
Do you have any idea what are the steps need to be followed to configure the existing projects?
Is there any settings we need to change for Windows 2003 server? Is Windows 2003 server supports RoboHelp 2.0?
Kindly help me to fix that issue.
    Thanks for your help.

Hi Mahesh and welcome to the RH community.
That sure is an old copy of RH. Adobe is currently up to version 8 of both the RH Client and RH Server applications so I'm not surprised if things don't work as you'd expect on Windows Server 2003.

  • Publishing RoboHelp projects using third-party app and RH command prompt

    Hi -
I am curious to know if anyone has used the RH command prompt to publish a RH project using a third party application - i.e. homegrown app?
I'm thinking of creating an application that will allow RH users register their projects for knowledge management purposes. It would act somewhat like an LMS where users could post their dev files on a network share. When ready to review with the customer, the would use the registration tool to push the project to preview. The app would call the RH command prompt using a server side technology, in my case .NET, and supply the necessary arguments and push the generated project to preview. Once it had been reviewed and ready, then the user could push to production.
Any thoughts on this - reasons why this wouldn't work, good, bad, ugly, alternatives? - all constructive comments welcome
    Thanks

    Hi there
I see some flaws with that.

Dev files need to always be local. Placing on a network share for the purposes of using RoboHelp to compile or generate is risky business and may explode in your face. LMS to me means Learning Management System. Those are typically used for eLearning. RoboHelp does help systems. Captivate does eLearning. So you are losing me with your LMS reference.
When ready to review with the customer, the would use the registration tool to push the project to preview.
I'm lost. What "registration tool" are you even referring to here? Or is this what you are planning on creating and that's what you are choosing to call it?

There is no "preview" of projects. Preview of individual topics, sure. But not for a project. There is only compile or generate to create the final output.
Once it had been reviewed and ready, then the user could push to production.
Sounds like what one might typically accomplish using RoboHelp in a typical development cycle. You edit content on the local hard drive. If a review is needed, you compile or generate the content and place the output on a server. After approval is complete the content is then copied to the production server.
Sure sounds like you are attempting to reinvent the wheel in many situations here.

  • Unable to load the 'C:\InetPub\robohelp\' project.  The project is invalid.

We're having troubles opening/viewing our 'prepsmart' project
on our production server. (It works fine in our test environment).
I have tried re-installing RoboEngine 4.0, and successfully
re-generated and re-published the project to the server. However,
when I try to access the project using a url like:
    http://<servername>:<port>/RoboAPI.asp?project=prepsmart&context=700,
it displays the message: "Contragulations The RoboEngine has been
successfully created. To get started using RoboEngine, you need to
publish a project. Please see the getting started guide or
deployment manual that corresponds to your authoring tool for more
    information. "
I see the same screen if I click on "View Project" within the
    RogoEngine Configuration Manager.
When I click the Troubleshoot icon in the Configuration
manager, it lists the following errors:
Unable to load the 'C:\InetPub\robohelp\' project. The
    project is invalid.
    Project prepsmart cannot be found.
Unable to locate the ' ' window.
Cannot find the list of projects.
    If I specify a specific page (i.e.
    http://denpiis01:8000/Robo/BIN/Robo.dll?tpc=/robo/projects/prepsmart/Getting_Started.htm),
it displays the help page. So, I
think the web site is configured and working OK.
Any ideas why I can successfully publish the project, but
    RoboEngine can't find the project?
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hello Vipul Kumawat,
I saw a related thread from here:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/15246449/visual-studio-xaml-designer-not-getting-loaded
Their solution is related to fix corrupt Visual Studio.
So may I clarify the following:
    1. What's your Visual Studio version?
    2. Have you ever tried to repair Visual Studio from control panel first?
    3. Can you reproduce this issue when access any other new projects? For example, Store App, WPF App, or even new simple Windows Phone app? What's the result if you use them?
    Best regards,

  • Are Adobe Captivate swf files not compatible with IE8 or IE9 when inserted into RoboHelp projects?

    Hi,
I've published Adobe Captivate swf files and then inserted them into my RoboHelp project. I then synced my RoboHelp project with our website and the videos within online help are not functioning in IE8 or IE9. They are only working in IE11.
    Thanks,
    Jaimie

    Hi there
When a SWF plays in IE, it uses the Flash Player ActiveX control. I'm not 100% sure that different versions of IE would share the install. So if you have one version of IE on your machine, perhaps it either doesn't even have the control added in or it's the wrong version.
One thing I would check in the browsers where the content seems to be missing is to right-click the blank area and see if you coax a Flash pop similar to below:
    Then note the version number.
You may find that all that you (or others) need to do is ensure you have at least a specific version of the player/add-in installed.

  • Adding a Loading Animation to a Captivate movie for use in a RoboHelp Project?

    Hello all:
I'm inserting SWFs (built in Captivate 5) into Robohelp topics (using RoboHelp 9, publishing to WebHelp Pro output). These topics hold only the SWFs, so I've published the SWFs to autoplay  when opened.
The problem is this: when I publish my RoboHelp project, my Captivate movies display as image icons (see screenshot). There is no loading animnation or screenshot to indicate that the Captivate movie works. If I wait a few seconds (variable, depending on file size of the SWF), the movie will appear and start to play. I'm concerned that my user will think the file is broken and leave the page.
How can I enable a loading animation (or even a loading image) to show my user that there is, in fact, content on the page when the topic loads? I'd like to keep the auto-play functionality, if possible.

The best option is to break out the words because it gives you the most control. However, if the two words you want to glow are next to each other you can use the Sequence Text behavior.
Select the text and apply Text Animation/Sequence Text to the layer. In the behaviors tab, click on the Add parameter and select Glow/Color. This will create a parameter that you can assign to a character, word, line or custom area.
Now you'll need to add several parameters so repeat the above step adding parameters for Glow/Opacity, Glow/Blur, and Glow/Radius. You might even want to change the color of the font for those two words. If so, add a parameter for Face/Color.
Once you have all the parameters added, change the Traversal parameter to Custom. Change the Select parameter to Custom. Use the Start parameter to determine the beginning of the "glow" area, and the End parameter to fix the end of it. Set the Spread to 0 so there is no spillage of the glow to the words on either side.
Now adjust the color, blur and radius of the glow just as you would if you were adding it to the entire paragraph.

  • Hard Drive Failure - Rebuilding RoboHelp Project

Without going into the gory details, the hard drive on my work laptop crashed and all data was lost, including important RoboHelp project files, as well as the files from the installation of the application itself.
Of course, I should have been backing up my project files, but since I didn't get around to doing it, I'm stuck with trying to ressurect one of my most important projects, in particular.
    My proposed solution:
    Re-install RoboHelp 9.0
    Create a NEW project.
Copy the output files from the most recent published Help.
Reverse-engineer the original project, importing the HTML files one-by one, rebuilding the TOC, tweaking CSS and/or HTT files, etc.
    My question/discussion item:
Given I didn't back anything up, this seems like my only viable option. However, just in case I might be missing something or someone else has a better idea, feel free to sing out.
As it is, I'm also thinking of installing my RoboHelp application (basically TCS 3.0) onto a network location, but I'm unsure how problematic this might be. For now, I'm the only person using RoboHelp and I think we only have the one license.
    Cheers,
    Michael

Forget about installing TCS on the network - doesn't work license-wise & is catastrophic to your RH projects. A "best practice" for a single author is described on Peter Grainge's site - work on your c:\projects\[project_name]\ and zip it up each day to copy it to a backed-up network location.

  • How do I create a project site after I publish a project in Project Server 2013?

How do I create a project site after I publish a project from project pro 2013 in Project Server 2013? I'm trying to look for an option in the ribbon but haven't found any.
    Thanks
    James T.F

    Hi James,
See in the article the procedure for site provisionning settings.
Note that the project site is created based on the template associated to the chosen project type (EPT) when the user first publishes his project. Be aware that if you allow the user to choose weither or not he'll create a sharepoint site when publishing
his project, he will be prompted in Project Pro with a dialog box giving the choice to create or not the site.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can I publish a project so that the link to embedded flv is not lost?

When publishing an Adobe Captivate 3 project, the embedded flv file does not play.
How can I publish a project so that the link to embedded flv is not lost?

I am not really sure, if I understand you right. But try this:
Don’t place a picture, but draw a box and use the "Fill" command to put a picture into it.
(Don’t click onto the color swatch, but onto the blue link "Fill".)
In this case responsivness should work.

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

It may mean you either your Event or your Project. Have you moved any of the files in the Finder by any chance? That error may come up if you moved anything outside of iMovie. Do you get an error message when you choose Share>Export to iMovie (choose medium size) and save it to the Desktop? If you can export it to the desktop, you can pull that file into iDVD separately and still make it work.
