Publishing SCORM compliant files

I have a 256 slide presentation that I have been working on
for some time.
Up until recently I have been able to publish the captivate 4
file, including zipping the files and upload it to my LMS.
Unfortunately, CP4 has stopped ZIPPING the files. It is still
publishing the files into the designated folder, it just refuses to
ZIP them. (the optoin to ZIP files is checked). If I ZIP them
manually my LMS reports its not a valid SCORM file.
This occurs on difference PC with CP4 installed.
I tried to create a blank template, imported all the
necessary slides and the problem continues.
I'm running out of options and I really need to get this
published. Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps I can
take?

Uncheck the .zip box, publish, save, close, open the file
again, check
the .zip option, republish?
Otherwise, even a less-cool workaround, but copy all slides,
close file.
Open a new project, paste slides, setup publishing parameters
again, and
see if that does it?
Or perhaps there's some other setting that's overriding or
preventing
the .zip option? Any publish setting changes since it used to
work?

  • Publish an InDesign file as a SCORM package

What is the fastest/easiest way to take an InDesign file and publish it as a SCORM package that can be loaded to our LMS as a reference book?  I don't have/need interactions - I just want the LMS to track which users opened/viewed the file.  I need a VERY simple SCORM package.  This seems like it ought to be easy.

I am sorry if you took offense at my response.  I tend to assume that people who post questions have already researched the forum and failed to find the answer they needed - I know I do.
The point of my response was simply that the post you referenced did not actually answer the question, which makes it less than useful.
    Basics of how SCORM "works":
You do create the content.  The content can be created in a number of programs and formats.  You then "wrap" that content into a SCORM package (which is really just a sort of special .ZIP file w/ some components that are read and and processed by an LMS) and upload it.
Publishing to SCORM from Captivate or Presenter is easy because you just tell it to do so and you can choose the various relevant options (what SCORM "things" to measure / check, which version of SCORM to use etc....)  I would have expected the same to be true of InDesign, but apparently it's not.  Since there is no one-click solution, I need to know the best path to take the content from InDesign toSCORM.  I can imagine that meaning publishing to PDF or HTML and then moving to SCORM.  I cannot imagine (especially in light of the other thread you referenced) that I am the first, much less the only, person looking for this solution.  Someone out there must know the best way to do this.
As a note, the files I need to make SCORM compliant are rather lengthy and graphic-intensive, so just publishing to PDF and then loading those the the web (even using something like the SCORM packaging utility in the eLearning suite) is not really an option.  I need a small enough file / package that it will be a good end-user experience (high enough resolution for the images to be legible but small enough file size to prevent long wait times while items load).
    Thanks,
    Laura

  • SCORM compliant SWF file stills hangs on loading screen

I am using Captivate 5.0  v 5.0.2.630 . I have checked for the latest patches and updates and my software is up to date including the patch that was supposed to correct the problem I am having.
I have a SCORM-compliant course and the SWF file hangs at the loading screen. This usually only happens after the user has launched and exited the course without completing it. But is has happened once with an initial launch of the course. The problem seems to be more prevalent if the user’s browser is Mozilla but it has also happened in IE
The LMS I am using supports both AICC and SCORM compliant content.
I have also changed the scorm_support.js file from var g_nAPI = 0 to var g_nAPI = 1  which was suggested in a March 21 blog post.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully appreciated.

I am having a similar issue. I took the update earlier this week and it seemed to be working until a user fails the quiz and exits the course. When they return to the course it sticks on the grey loading screen - infinitely.
Any suggestions would be most helpful!

  • When I publish a course created in Captivate 7, how do I know/ensure it is SCORM compliant?

Do I need to tick a box somewhere to ensure the output is SCORM compliant?

You need to turn on LMS Reporting using the options on the Quiz Settings dialog.  Which settings you choose depends on which LMS you are using and how you want it to work.

  • Export Scorm with Files

In Captivate 4, how can I include additional files (XLS, XLSX, PDF, JS , HTML) that is used to launch links (User clicks on link, launches PDF in seperate window. User click on link, Launches HTML in seperate window). The files must be included in the exported zip and included in the IMSManifest.xml. I must be missing something because ive tried every single way I know of to get it to import it including placing it in the Folder with Captivate. Any ideas?

Manually adding the files to your zip archive and editing the manifest file are probably your best bet. I'm not aware of any way, even in Cp4, to automatically add external files to your output folder or manifest (but I may be wrong -- it's been a while since I've needed to export SCORM-compliant output).

  • SCORM compliant quiz not loading...

    Hi
I have a Captivate 5 Aggregator file that loads a small handful of Captivate SWF's.
The final SWF is a SCROM compliant quiz.
Now everything worked fine, until a recent upgrade. Now, the quiz does not load. The wierd thing is, if I export the quiz WITHOUT SCORM it loads fine.
With SCORM, and trying to view on Moodle, all I see is a grey "Loading..." screen.
How can I fix this? It's really frustrating.
    Many thanks

OK.  But here's the problem. Unless you use another SCORM packaging tool to create the imsmanifest.xml file that the LMS needs in order to see this compilationas SCORM-compliant, and your aggregator is creating an HTM file that contains all the SCORM API javascript, I don't see how your LMS is going to regard this as a SCO.
The Aggregator doesn't use the SCORM HTM templates when it packages everything up with an HTM file and JS file.  Unless there is SCORM API JavaScript in play somewhere, the LMS will not receive scoring from your SCO modules.
So even if you DO get your LMS to accept the upload of an Aggregator project, it's not going to behave as a typical SCO and be tracked as such by your LMS.
    Unless I'm missing something here...?

  • Publishing the swf file in Captivate 8: videos unable to load

This is my first time using Captivate. I am still using the free version of Captivate 8 from a Mac. I have created an online module for my college e-Learning course but, I can't get it to upload right anywhere! I am trying to upload the swf. file to Google Sites but the videos display a connection error message and never play. I have read everything I could online but nothing is working for me. I tried uploading a SCORM zip file to Coursesites and got an error message as well. I am not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I have not upgraded at this time, but I can if that will fix the issues I'm having with the published files.
To clarify, my project is NOT a responsive project. I'm just selecting HTML5 on the publish. And I am testing it locally, on our company server, and online. The drag and drop does not work in any instance of the index.html any of these locations.

  • SCORM package files for Dreamweaver/Coursebuilder interactions

    Gentlefolk;
Trying to see if I can get Dreamweaver (CS3) with Coursebuilder interactions to play with LearnCenter LMS. The site is not loading because the LMS can't find the SCORM manifest files.
I don't see an export function in Dreamweaver that would create the manifest files. Is there a way to generate the manifest files, so LearnCenter has something to grab onto?
Or have I tumbled to the reason everyone is using Captivate?
    Many thanks!
    Don

    Hi Vijay;
It has been a while since I started this thread or even looked at it, so I am hazy on my original inquiry. I will have to look again. Short answer to your question however is that every tool I play whith that outputs to SCORM-compliant content automagically creates the manifest files and all the related support files.
I just wanted to acknowledge your message right now. Let me look at the original thread and see if I have any more information that may directly assist you.

  • How to generate & publish  webhelp html files in different folder than default folder

    Hi All,
I am new to robo help. I have a requirement to generate & publish webhelp html files in a different folder than default folder.
Could anyone please tell me the steps to change the folder
    Thanks
    Rashmi

You change the generate folder and filename in the first field on the first page of the wizard. It must be a folder on your hard disk.
You change the publish folder in the last page of the wizard. Anywhere you like.

  • How can I publish an ics file to a remote server from my calendar server?

I am running Lion Server and have Calendar Service up and running. I have an account with a couple of calendars, one of which I'd like to publish to a remote server, as an .ics file.
From an iCal client it is possible to publish local calendars, but not remote calendars (for which the only option seems to be to 'Share').
How can I can I publish an ics file to a remote server? Programatically, if necessary.

    I have this working now.
    curl -s --digest -u username:password -o calendar.ics http://hostname:8008/calendars/users/username/calendar/
generates the .ics file, and a combination of cadaver (from webdav.org) and an expect script upload hourly (via cron) to the remote server:
    set timeout 60
    spawn /usr/local/bin/cadaver
    expect "dav"
    send "open https://remotehost/path/\r"
expect "Do you wish to accept the certificate? (y/n)"
    send "y\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "put calendar.ics\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "close\r"
    expect "dav"
    send "quit\r"

  • Is there any way of creating a layout which is SCORM compliant?

I have Robohelp 10.  Is there any way to use the content already captured in Robohelp to make a SCORM compliant layout?

My understanding of SCORM is that it is an eLearning standard. As RoboHelp is not an eLearning tool it does not have SCORM capabilitiy. You could use Adobe Captivate that has SCORM compliance and then embed your simulations, etc. into a RoboHelp topic. Maybe you could investigate this track.

  • Help with Publishing to a File - Photo Albums don't appear

I published to a file. I tested it and it looks good. I burned the folder to a CD in order to view it on another computer - specifically a PC. My webpages look right, but the photo albums don't appear. I can manually open the folders on the CD and verify that the photo jpg files are there. Any ideas? I am using iWeb 2.0.2.

Are you transferring the index.html file along with the website folder and double clicking the index file to launch the site in the PC browser?

  • Published my iWeb files to MobileMe but can't get to domain

I've finally been able to publish my iWeb files to MobileMe (after 2 days of trying -- a message kept appearing that said "iWeb couldn’t publish to MobileMe. The MobileMe servers are busy. Please try again in a few minutes."), but now when I try to go to my domain name (www.julie-harrison.com) it automatically redirects to "www.web.me.com".
    Help!
    juleslarosa

Well, have you followed all the instructions about linking your domain name to MobileMe?
Have you entered your domain name in your MobileMe personal domain name settings? If not, then go and do this.
You then need to go to your domain name registrar and forward your domain name to web.me.com, by going to the DNS settings and setting up a new CNAME forwarding. Have you done this? If not, then go and do it.
You need to do all these things for your domain name to work.
By the way, it is web.me.com. If you keep typing www.me.com, then no it won't work.
Your url will always be http://web.me.com/username/sitename.

  • Does the DPS publishes only for tablets? can I publish my indesign file to html only using DPS?

Does the Digital Publishing Suite publishes only for tablets?  can I publish my indesign file to html only using DPS?

DPS will not do what you want and neither with anything else without at
    least some work.
HTML out of InDesign is for content only, not layout. There is a new
product out there you can try, however:
