Publishing to correct folder on my server

Hi,
I am encountering a problem publishing my site via Muse's built in FTP. I'm 99% sure its something simple I'm doing wrong! I currently have  a web hosting package with Hostpapa. I have one main domain for this account, and I've since purchased a few extra domain names that share the hosting. These appear as folders within my home directory when viewed in an FTP program:
These 'additional' sites work fine and are hosted fine. I've recently rebuilt one of the sites in Adobe Muse - zest-graphics.co.uk. Exporting the site from Muse and uploading manually via an FTP programme such as Cyberduck works fine. However, using Muse's built-in FTP has caused headaches. I'm encountering two problems:
1: Muse reports that the requested folder 'zest-graphics.co.uk' does not exist, even though it does:
If I click 'OK' Muse reports that the folder 'zest-graphics.co.uk' does not point to the site www.zest-graphics.co.uk
Now, clearly I'm doing something completely stupid here - can anyone help please?

H Zak,
Thanks for the reply. I've tried with those settings but with now joy I'm afraid. I've used:
And get:
Clicking OK gives the following error:
I don't understand since the folder zest-graphics.co.uk resides inside my public_HTML, as below:
Any ideas? Appreciate your help with this, thank you.
Neil.

  • URGENT HELP PLEASE!!! iweb is refusing to publish my site to my FTP server

HELP!!! iweb is refusing to publish my site to my FTP server. I've tried Filezilla, Panic Tramsmit to upload my iweb created site to my ftp server - hosted by Uk-Cheapest - server.microlite5.com.
I've also saved the files to both my hard disc and my idisk and tried uploading from there but it always fails.
can anyone offer any advice as to how i can get my site uploaded to my domain. It's REALLY URGENT!

After publishing to a local folder, double click the index.html file to launch your site in the browser.
If this version is OK then the problem is with FTP.
Make sure that you can login to your host via the browser and also that your publishing settings - Server Address, Username, Password and Directory/Path - are correct.

  • Publishing to a non Mac friendly server + network

I am sure this has been asked countless times - feel free to point me to the correct discussion forum-, I am having trouble publishing my Iweb site in to a non .Mac server. Any ideas?

In the past 24 hours I was able to publish my domain
to the folder with the URL I was given. The webmaster
is asking me which of the files uploaded is the one
that links to the webpage. Clearly I am missing
something when using Iweb with a non .Mac server. Any
    tips and ideas?
When you "publish to a folder" from iWeb you should get a folder on your hard drive which has the same name as your site does inside iWeb, plus an index.html file. You then use ftp to upload these two items only to your server space run by your webmaster. Is that what you did? If not, what did you do? I don't understand what you mean when you say "published my domain to the folder with the URL I was given."
Did you read the link provided earlier? Do you have questions about it?
What server are you using, and what ftp program? What is your url supposed to be?

The system cannot find the file specified
I have tried from so many forms. This is so frustrating. Thank for everyone/anyone who wants to help. So this is what happened: I had to uninstall my previous sqlserver 2012(which worked great) for some reason, and I uninstalled everything from that download.
Then I installed the trial edition of sql server 2012 (64 Bit) and It wouldn't connect to the database. (Error mentioned above.) My local DB is COWBOYS. (COWBOYS is also my computer name.) After this, I have tried downloading sqlexpress and sqlserver 64bit
many times and cannot connect to my local DB.
How do I connect to my Local DB?
Also, I think this might help: (When I run sqlserve.exe, which I was able to find in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\LocalDB\Binn, I get an error: Your SQL server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with(Error getting
instance ID from name). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this problem.
I would happily re install it, if it wasn't my 20th time.
I don't have any remote connections, I don't use username/password, only window authentication. I work mostly on visual studio, but without able to store /retrieve data, I don't know how to survive.
May be the solution is very simple, but I am too frustrated.
Some of the things I have tried:
From a command prompt, enter one of the following commands:
net start "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER)" OR
net start "SQL Server Agent(instancename)"(for instance)
on my sql configuration, I cannot start anything because there is nothing there to start. I can post more details, if that would help. Also, some more details about the error:

Any one that can help me, I will be greatful. Thank you so much. p.s. please ask me anything if you have any questions.

It sounds like there are a couple things going on here.  First check if you have a successful install of SQL Server, then we'll figure out the connection issues.
Can you launch SQL Server Configuration Manager and check for SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) if default instance or SQL Server (other name) if you've configured your instance as a named instance.  Once you find this, make sure the service is started.
If not started, try to start it and see if it throws an error.  If you get an error, post the error message your hitting.  If the service starts, you can then launch SSMS and try to connect.  If you have a default instance, you can use the machine
name in the connection dialog.  Ex:  "COWBOYS" where Cowboys is the machine name.  However, if you named the SQL Server instance during install, you'll need to connect using the machine\instance format.  Ex:  COWBOYS\Romo (where Romo
is the instance name you set during install).
You can also look at the summary.txt file in the SQL Server setup error logs to see what happened on the most recent install.  Past install history is archived in the log folder if you need to dig those up to help troubleshoot, but the most
recent one may help get to the bottom of it if there is an issue with setup detecting a prior instance that needs to be repaired.

  • How can I Publish to a Folder just one of the several websites I have created using iWeb?

How can I Publish to a Folder just one of the several websites I have created using iWeb?
it drives me nuts having to emove all the other websites when I want to upload one.
    Sparrow

For iWeb, I like to do only one site per domain file.  I move domain files out of the Application Support folder and place them inside project or client folders, or in DropBox. Once you duplicate a domain file and begin customizing it, it will load and behave as a separate project/site.
I publish each iWeb domain/project direct to a server via FTP. Sometime I publish to a folder, then upload via FTP manually.
iWeb is a remarkable tool, especially when you work from scratch with blank tamplates

  • When publishing to a folder page looks awful once uploaded. Can anyone help

    Hi,
I've read through at least 30 pages on this forum and seem to be unable to find something to help me remedy my problem.
I made a really simple site in iWEB. When I publish to a folder and click the "visit this site now" button, everything looks perfect. However, once I upload the site, using Fetch, the site looks awful. The Arial font is replaced by something else. The "made on a mac" image disappears. The navbar is non existent, and none of my other pages display properly (when I manually enter there addresses).
I read a previous post about changing my Fetch settings so that data uploads in binary (raw) form and did that. I tried changing text-encoding in my browser to UTF-8, but that did not help either.
I've cleared the folder on my home computer a number of times and tried republishing and re-uploading and that does not help. I've tried viewing the page in Safari, Mozilla, and Explorer, and it looks terrible in all 3. The site is:
    http://web.syr.edu/~ljames
If someone can help me I'd greatly appreciate it. If you need any further info from me, please let me know and I'll do what I can to assist. Thanks.

You have changed the permissions (or they are incorrect) on your home_files directory. I get a forbidden message when trying to access that directory. The sylesheet (css) and other files there dictate how the home page is diplayed. Make sure that all the permissions on the directories for your site are set correctly.

  • What is "Publish To New Folder?"

    Captivate's *Edit/Preferences/Global* preferences include
options for the user to review a confirmation dialog before the
software proceeds to execute a variety of user actions, mostly
actions that would delete an asset or change an important setting.
"Publish to New Folder" is one of those confirmation-optional
preferences. One customises Captivate either to require
confirmation before executing some underlying command or to proceed
    with its execution unhindered.
But what is the underlying "Publish to New Folder" command?
What does it do? Where do I find it? There doesn't seem to be
documentation about it, or discussion of it in the user community.
Oddly, one would think that publishing to an *existing* folder
would be the more concerning action. entailing as it does the
possibility of files being overwritten. What possible harm,
necessitating verification, could possibly be done publishing
something to a brand new folder? And what does Captivate mean by
"publish" in this instance: Is it a reference to the limited menu
of export-as-SWF or as projector.EXE options, or does it refer to
some other export, save or archiving function?
Having been at considerable pains to create a Captivate
project which deploys multiple graphic and audio assets I now would
like to wrap them all up and deliver them efficiently to an
archive, a function most other multi-asset authoring platforms
allow one to do with a mouse click or two. (See PremierPro, for
example, although neither Flash nor FrameMaker is so
sophisticated.) Can this be accomplished by some hidden "Publish to
    New Folder" command?
    Thank you.

    Hi Ruth3rf0rd
Captivate 3 introduced an unwelcome feature that forces you
to create a folder named identically to your .SWF and ,HTM files
when creating your .SWF output. (Oddly enough, this doesn't happen
    if publishing to .EXE).
Aside from simply naming the project what you want the folder
named, there isn't any underlying process you are missing. The
option you see in the preferences area simply turns the
intermediate dialog off and on. And you did mention that it could
theoretically be more dangerous to overwrite files. That option is
    there as well.
Because I come from the RoboHelp HTML/Web Authoring
background, I find the whole notion of "Publishing" to be wrongly
named. For Captivate, the act of Publishing is taking the source
material and compiling it to produce the output format.
In the Web Development world, the act of Publishing is taking
content that has already been created from the source and copying
it to another location. Most often, a Web Server.
    Hopefully this helps... Rick

everything else is there on the place, except missing search field.
So, i registered .Mac 60 days free and it's working on .Mac. But in local folder and on my non .Mac server it doesn't show up.
I don't want to buy .Mac for me it's not worth. and i just bought non .mac server just two days ago.
    PLEASE HELP!!!
and if you have any idea using comment on blog for non .mac server, please let me know. i use iComment and working well. but it doesnt' look good

Blog Search is a feature only enabled when publishing to .Mac. If you publish to a folder, the search won't publish. It's in the iWeb Help.

When I publish to a folder and post to my Verizon web space I get a 404 (not found) error on slideshows. Did you use an ftp program to upload to Verizon? Can you verify that you have the same files and structure on both servers? I'm wondering if something got left out in the Verizon space.

  • How do I publish to a folder? Help Menu doesn't say.

I have checked the iWeb Help menu, the "Welcome to iWeb" pages that I printed out, and the "iWeb 1.1 Help" that I printed out. No source answers the question that I have about publishing to a folder.
When I go to the iWeb File > Publish to a folder, I am told to write the URL of that folder. But, how do I get a folder with a URL? In the first place, I thought that publishing to a folder meant, a folder on my Desktop, away from the Internet, but if a URL is required, obviously I thought wrong.
    — Lorna in Southern California

    Hi Lorna,
All you have to do is to navigate to your desired folder in the file dialog window, like any other Mac application. You can even click on the "New Folder" button in the bottom of the window to create a new folder.
Don't worry about the URL text field. This field only needs to be filled out if you are going to be uploading your website to a 3rd party web host and is only important so that the RSS feeds and/or podcast URLs are generated correctly for 3rd party hosting purposes. You are going to be publishing your pages to .Mac, so all of this will be taken care of for you.
All you are using the "Publish to Folder" option for is to keep a local copy of your website so that you can preview it before putting it up on .Mac. Just select the folder where you want iWeb to save your website files and click OK. Again, just ignore the URL field.

I am unable to create pdf using adobe printer to a redirected folder on a server running windows server 2003

In the app-server-ant.xml file, as indiacted in the error message i am getting, at line 145 it is suppose to get the path to \bin\asadmin.bat from the value of a paramater called 'asadmin'. This value is being set in the beginning of the file.
The parameter value of 'asadmin' is further referring to value of another parameter called 'javaee.home' which is being set in tut-install/javaeetutorial5/examples/bp-project/build.properties
I have checked the values of both these parameters and they are set correctly, so since it is still giving me problems, at line 145 i hard coded the path instead of the parameter name:
    I replaced line

  • Iweb not publishing to correct domain

I am totally new to iweb and have just finished designing my website. I own both web hosting and a domain name with justhost.com
I have set up ftp and when i try to publish my site, it does it to the wrong domain name.
    e.g. my domain is myweb.com
the website name in iweb is myweb
when the site is published it is published to myweb.com/myweb
therefore it doesnt work properly and I have spent hours trying to figure it out, but no luck!
    Hope someone can help

This is absolutely normal for iWeb and it is iWeb site structure - every iWeb site has to be given a name in iWeb itself, so when you publish your site, it will be published in a folder with your site name and then a separate index file - totally normal.
Your url will then be http://www.domain.com/sitename/pagename.
You named your site in iWeb and you can alter this to something short like Site etc.
Alternatively, do what Roddy has suggested and publish your site to a local folder from iWeb and then use Cyberduck to upload directly to your server. However, just upload the contents of your site folder only and then your url will be http://www.domain.com/pagename.

  • IWeb 08 keeps crashing while publishing to a FOLDER

Been searching the forum regarding the constant iWeb issues when trying to publish. My initial problem was a rss site error when I tried to publish my blog to my .mac account. After an hour with Apple support, the problem seemed to fix itself.
Now my new problem: After I have created a few new pages on my website, iWeb 08 crashes while trying to publish to a folder. My site domain is on a different server than my .mac blog; so I have to use Transmit to update my site. For some reason, iWeb 08 freezes while publishing to a folder. I thought maybe it was due to the Google AdSense additions, but even after I deleted the pages, recreated the pages without the ad box, it repeats the same error.
Now, I have not added any content other than a text box (no cut or paste).
Any ideas? Is this just a glitch in iWeb that will be fixed in a later update? Very frustrating.

I have a very similar problem. Sometimes when I try to publish my website to a folder iWeb 08 freezes while exporting the Blog Summary page. ... at least that's what the statusbar says. Somebody else in this forum said that one should do the usual things (repair volume/permissions, do a restart) and referenced to a macfixit article for which you need a subscription (which I don't have).
So I did everything he wrote and even ran the maintainance scripts. After creating a new blog entry publishing worked a few times. Now that I changed my last entry 2 or 3 times and always published the site successfuly to a folder, publishing freezes again at the summary page.
When I get home from work I will try to repair the volume again (last time there was aminor volume header error). Running the maintainance scripts, rebooting and creating a new entry didn't work so far.
PS: I don't use AdSense... all I habe is one google map, a youtube video and a few java scripts and iframes on several pages. The entries that I added/changed before publishing froze only containes text and pictures.

  • Publishing iCal - which URL of lion server in private network???

I was looking in apple support and in the web for hours, I simply want to publish may calendar on my private server (NOT in the internet!) services are already running (profilemanager, iCal...). When I open iCal on my client (MacBook) and want to publish my calendar, I am asked for the base-URL of my private server, I tried it with "server.local", "macintosh.local", "192.168.1.xx" - always get the answer: "invalid URL"

I would suggest creating a directory in the Documents directory called something like ical. Do a "sudo chown www:www ical". Set the Web folder in Server Manager to /Library/WebServer/Documents/ical and you should be away. The URL for publising would then be http://aaa.bbb.ccc/ical
(I also turned off the performance cache.)
I've had a range of problems with the way virtual hosts work on 10.4. (It seems even the order of stuff inside each virtual host file in /etc/httpd/sites can screw things up - go figure) As you guess, permissions seem to be at the heart of it.
    Hope this helps

  • I had my websites set up in iWeb on macbook.  just purchased a new MacBook Pro, downloaded iweb09, and transferred all my iWeb content.  I publish to local folder using filesilla.  why don't i see my updates on site?

I recently purchased a macbook pro with osx 10.8.3.  my websites are set up using iweb.  i downloaded iweb 09 and transfered my files to iweb, published to local folder, filezilla seems to be working fine, but when i visit my site there are no changes.  when i view published site the changes are there.  what is the problem?  can someone please help

If the files are in the right location on the server and you are sure they are replaced, then the only thing left to do is to clear the browser cache and reload the page.
    Standard procedure.
