Publishing to media browser?

I've got a sony handycam hdr that i use for capturing footage of our kiddos.  i'm upload video clips to imovie then i go to share -- media browser -- and then open them in iDVD in order to burn them to discs.  My question is, how do i know what size i should select when i publish to media browser?  i'm burning to regular DVD-R so not sure if that would even support HD quality.  I believe the options in the media browser are tiny, small, medium, large, and HD.

For DVDs, share to Media Browser - Large. You are correct that DVDs cannot handle HD and would cut it down to 640x480 anyway. The Large size (960x540) seems to provide the right balance of quality and enough material for the compression to MPEG2 to sink its teeth into.
No need for HD size unless you are sharing to BluRay, Sharing to YouTiube, watching on a device like the Sony PS3, or watching on your computer.

  • IMovie won't publish to Media Browser

First let me say that iMovie 8 has been a disaster. The only changes I have made to my setup in the past 12 months has been adding memory (up to 4GB) and upgrading to Leopard.
My latest (and show stopping) frustration occurs when I try to run iDVD and burn a movie to a DVD. Apparently, I nos need to publish the movie to the Media Browser in order to have iDVD access my iMovie project. But when I try to publish it to media Browser as a Medium sized Movie or a Large Movie, about 20 minutes into the process I get an error message that says, "Unable to prepare project for publishing - The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error code = =43)"
Does anyone know what this is all about? I have tried this three times and get teh same error message every time.
I'm just about ready to uninstall and go back a few revs. This is ridiculous and it's very frustrating.
Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can offer any assistance.
    John

    (Error code = =43)
If you are referring to -43 error code, I believe this is a "File not found" error. Most likely either one of your files has been lost or deleted at the finder level or one (or more) of your thumbnails has a bad reference pointer.

  • HELP - after publishing to Media Browser, still images do not match video

OK - here's what I'm trying to do:
I've got my family's video on an external HD (1TB) hooked up to my (new) imac. I'e created a rough cut project (1.5 hours). I'm trying to transfer it to my (new macbook) laptop so I can work on it when I'm travelling.
I've published the project to the media browser and transfered it to the other compuer. However, the still images in the project library window do not match the video, which makes it hard to edit. When I go back to my imac and disconnect the hard drive, the same thing happens. When I reconnect the hard drive, the video stills in the project library window match the video.
    Any fixes?

For DVDs, share to Media Browser - Large. You are correct that DVDs cannot handle HD and would cut it down to 640x480 anyway. The Large size (960x540) seems to provide the right balance of quality and enough material for the compression to MPEG2 to sink its teeth into.

  • Can't publish iMovie project through Media Browser

I have a project in iMovie that I share in Media Browser, goes through the whole process (4 hours) then I get an error message "unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred." This has happened twice, error code 50 the first time, then error code 34. I can't find any documentation of what these error codes mean. I have an iMovie project I want to burn onto DVD, so am wanting to access it through iDVD. Any help is appreciated!

Never mind. I finally found another discussion that addressed this problem. Thanks for looking!

  • How do I export my iMovie '11 video and burn it to a DVD? I've tried 'Share' - 'Media Browser', 'iDVD', and 'Export Movie' but always get an error message indicating that my movie is too long to publish. Thoughts?

How do I export my iMovie '11 video and burn it to a DVD? I've tried 'Share' - 'Media Browser', 'iDVD', and 'Export Movie' but always get an error message indicating that my movie is too long to publish. Thoughts? Additionally, what does 'File' 'Finalize Project' do?

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.

  • How to select correct size for publish media browser

I have successfully imported and edited movie from my Sony cam. Now when I share it via idvd, the size of the video is large. It doesn't look the same as imovie preview.
How to select the right size to view video threw idvd?

The size that plays on the screen. I'm doing share->media browser-> medium(640x360). with idvd, import media browser, select theme and burn dvd. The problem is when I playback the video it's shows as widescreen (large) as oppose to the normal viewing threw imovie preview.

  • Share Media Browser - "Unable to prepare project ... error occurred (-108)"

Finally got my sequence rebuilt after discovering bug/quirk with iMovie (details later). When sharing movie either via/Media Browser or "Export Movie" option after 10-15 min. get this exact message: "Unable to prepare project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (-108)." It plays wonderfully in preview (full screen or normal) from beginning to end. Any ideas?
Bug/quirk discovered. Long time on this project. Had it exactly like I wanted, would generate movie and have mysterious background audio when video tracks were purposely muted. Playing within iMovie environment it worked flawlessly and would only show up in rendered movie. Also the background audio didn't match the playing video clip but was coming from other included clips elsewhere in the movie. BIG mystery. Tried breaking apart movie and re-doing. Still crept in. Finally discovered I had duplicate video files in the ./iMovie Events/ directory, "<filename> 1.mov". I surmise that iMovie is using the most recent duplicate, "<filename> 1.mov" which I was muting but the rendering process was using the original "<filename>.mov" clips. Still a mystery on audio not matching clip but it could be due the trimming I had done throwing the timing off. The duplicates happened when I had moved/copied video content in "Event Library" to manage disk consumption. It failed somewhere in the process and I ended up with duplicate video clips. The aforementioned quirk/bug still appears to not be corrected with latest update as it still occurs.

    Hi
-108            memFullErr            Ran out of memory [not enough room in heap zone]
    My guesses are
    • Turn off TimeMachine during use of iMovie - use to set Heap Zone right
    • Turn off Mac totally and re-start - Frees up RAM
    • Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up hard disk - so that iMovie and Mac OS can store it's temp.files here. IMPORTANT

  • Error -50 when trying to share with media browser?

I'm attempting to burn a dvd in idvd for the first time. When I click media browser under share in imovie 08, I'm fist told that there's missing media. A source clip is not available. Although I hear it (audio) in both the project and in the source material in the event library. I clicked continue and things started to move along then this warning came up UNABLE TO PREPARE PROJECT FOR PUBLISHING ERROR CODE-50.
    Please help.

    I'm using native.
I did cancel all background rendering and exporting before I deleted the renders. I actually quit final cut before I did that, then restarted.
I found that the crash was probably the result of a motion plug-in that I was using, but the speed of exporting is still way below what it was last week. I would still like to utilize that motion plug-in :/

  • How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears?   How can I correct,  what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD?  Finalize movie?  I want to burn it to DVD!

How do I export from IMovie to Wondershare Creator to Make DVD and share hour long movie when I am unable to "publish" movie on Media Browser of IDVD because the error code "not enough room in heap Zone/ " appears and function is aborted.
I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain.  Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.
    What is a heap zone????

  • Doesnt seem to connect when published in a browser

Hey friends.. im a total newbie to Flash Media server.. i
just started using this for the past 2 days..so, heres the problem
im facing..i ve a simpleConnect component and a connectionlight
component on my stage and i connect both of em..the connectionlight
goes green when i test movie in flash(ie Ctrl+Enter).. but when i
Publish(F12) it in a browser.. the light is red.. why isnt it
connecting to the server when ublished in a browser?i hope u
understand my problem..please Help me out..
    Cheers~~

When published in a browser you need to adjust your Flash
Player's security settings and allow outbound connections for files
being in the directory where your swf file is. Remember: The html
and the swf are served from the local file system (C:\path\to\swf)
and the swf then tries to connect to your fms machine:
(rtmp://yourserver/app). You should actually have seen an error
    message when you first tried.
Alternatively you could put your SWF onto a web server (like
    your users would)

  • Horrible quality in media browser

    Hi
It's a big problem for me : all my movies are encoded with a worse quality at any size. So it's published on .mac gallery with horrible quality. So the problem is in the Media browser export qulity. When I use it in iWeb the problem is the same. Nota: my preferences are PAL, I think it's not the problem. Seomeone can help me?

OK : I import from DV cam, I make a project, that's look OK, I share it for media browser, and it's awful when I use that in iWeb, .mac gallery, etc.
    http://gallery.mac.com/fabricel#100066
I opened the package. The video in iMovie project/movie/Movies (the shared movie) is look awful too of course. The dv source in iMovie Events/movie/ is OK, no problem. When I "export the movie", it's awful. If I "export with QT", always with iMovie, it's OK. I think there's a problem with a specific codec of iLife'08.

  • Media Browser shows no videos

    iMac, Snow Leopard 10.6.7.
I used to see my iMovie '11 exported 720p videos in the Media Browser tab in iDVD, now I don't.
If I select an iMovie Project, clic 'Show Package Contents', I can see there is a 720p.mov movie there but it is not shown in Media Browser.
Any ideas what might have happened? How can I solve the problem?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi
In iMovie - You did "Share to Media Browser" and as Large ?
Did You alter anything in the movie project after this - if so the Publishing is lost - You need to Share again.
Re-starting the Mac - helps sometimes too. Worth a try.

  • Can't preview the effect in media browser

After publishing template as fcp generator in motion 5 and installing the plugins for fcpx, the fcpx close suddenly when I point the effect of plugins or the template to preview it in the media browser. The effect previewed in the media browser is just a blue screen.... How can I do to prewiew it as normal as other build-in effects?

It appears you are running an earllier version of FCP X than 10.0.9. There have been numerous posts on the forum that FCP X earlier than 10.0.8 or 9 do not work with Mavericks. Usually it is graphics related. I woulld upgrade to FCP X 10.1 and you should be fine. Seems that 10.0.9 is no longer available on the App store.
