Publishing webpages from Aperture

I have a group of photos I would like to publish and I know there is an option in Aperture to publish.  I also have iweb.  How might I publish to the web with or without iweb?
Patrick

Patrick,
you have several options. If you have used iWeb before, and applied all patches to make it work after the end of MobileMe, it is easy. You should see your Aperture Library in the Media Browser and can select your album and can create a new web page using a "Photos" template. Then upload to the ftp server of your provider.
Aperture itself offers several options:
Create a shared PhotoStream and share it to everybody. You can publish the Shared Stream as a Web Journal. File > Share > PhotoStream > New PhotoStream
Then enable the "Public Webste" button.
Add a Flickr or Facebook account in the Aperture Preferences > Web panel. Then select an album and use the "File > Share" menu to upload your album.
Todesign the layout yourself and to be able to add captions and Metadata tags, create a webpage (or smart webpage) in Aperture: File > New > Webpage
This way you can create a set of html-pages and export them to a folder on your disk. Then use Cyberduck or similar to upload and publish this pages via FTP to the FTP site of your provider.

  • How to get MobileMe photo galleries into iWeb or from Aperture?

I currenlty use MobileMe for an iWeb  published site, on which I have a link to a several dozen photo galleries, all pub;ished from Aperture.  iPhoto has an iWeb "button", but Aperture does not so far as I can see.  I am trying to find the easiest way to keep all of my stuff intact once MM dies next year.  How can I migrate, not link, my MM photo galleries into iWeb, and/or publish them from Aperture into iWeb?  Once I have the photo galleries as part of iWeb, then I'll be able to use it to publish to another web hosting service.  Thanks!

Do you have the original image files used to make up those MMe Galleries?  If so you can group them into albums in iPhoto and use the iWeb Album page or Photos page and ignore the MMe galleries.
If the files are in Aperture and there's no Aperture section in iWeb's Media Browser you will have to export those files out of Aperture as originals and drag them either into iPhoto or into an iWeb photos page.  I don't use Aperture so an unsure of what can be done between Aperture and iWeb.
If those galleries are the only copy of the photos you have you'll need to download the file (if the gallery allows it) and import into iPhoto before going into iWeb.

  • Having issues publishing certain photos to website from Aperture.

    Hi All,
I really hope someone can help me with this. I created a new website yesterday and had no problems publishing everything to my website. This included dragging photos from Aperture to iWeb, creating photo albums and such. Late last night, I tried to add a new album with all new photos that were from Aperture just like before. Once I had customized the new album (which is exactly like the other albums, just different pictures) I hit publish and I get an error message every time. It's saying there's a problem publishing because of the FTP and to contact my service provider. I contacted Yahoo Small Business, and after running a few tests on my account, they said everything was working fine on their end.
I thought maybe the pictures were too big, so I resized them to under 1MB, but I still can't get them to publish and am still getting the same error message! The photos are in .jpg format just in case you're wondering. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do to try and get this working?
I'm totally new at making a website, so please be thorough when responding. Thanks so much!

Are you able to publish the site to a folder on your hard drive?  If so then it's not an iWeb problem per se but a communications prolbem with the server.
You might have to try the publishing to a folder and use a 3rd party FTP client like the free  Cyberduck to upload the site to the server.  I'd get Cyberduck, configure it for your server and see if you can get it to login and view your account folder on the server.
Otherwise you can try the following:
delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your Home()/Library/Preferences folder.
go to your Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete its contents.
    launch iWeb and try again.
If that doesn't help continue with:
move the domain file from your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
launch iWeb, create a new test site, save the new domain file and close iWeb.
go to the your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
    launch iWeb and try again.

  • Publishing photos from Apperture to MobileMe.

I used to publish webpages of photos to my MobileMe account (and before that .Mac). iCloud doesn't appear to offer the same hosting capabilities; does anyone have any recommendations as to a hosting solution?

There are very limited possibilities to publish your photos in iCloud.
You can create a shared Photo Stream and publish it as a public website. This will be hosted in iCloud.
Or, if you have an iPad or other iDevice with iPhoto, you can create a journal and host it in iCloud.
I use the FTP site my internet provider offers, and simply upload Aperture's web journals using Cyberduck.

  • IWeb Photo Captioning from Aperture Metadata

I'm not sure if this should be under iWeb or Aperture. I use Aperture 2.1 and iWeb '08 2.0.3. In iWeb I have albums of photos from Aperture. When using the media browser for adding Aperture photos into iWeb, the standard nomenclature is for the iWeb caption to use the Aperture 'Version Name'. Since iWeb can be set to have more than one caption line, I was wondering if there was a way to map Aperture metadata into the multiple lines of iWeb photo captions? As it is, any additional iWeb caption lines have to be added manually. Can this additional caption information be added automatically?

I'm banging my head on this too.. I prefer to use iWeb for several reasons: one is that I publish to a non-Apple webhost; and I prefer the editing capabilities of iWeb vs Aperture/iPhoto -- plus the templates are more varied.
It's hard to believe that Apple doesn't provide this extremely basic capability. I've noticed other threads on this & it doesn't seem that it's possible.

  • Prints from Aperture vs Photoshop Different

When I make a print from Aperture the color is off and the print is too light. When I take that same photo and Open With External Editor to Photoshop, the print comes out nearly perfect, and nearly exactly what I see on my 30" ACD.
When printing I turn off System Management of color, so I don't think that's the issue.
I shoot Raw with a Nikon D2x. I calibrated my Epson 4800 and 30" display with Eye-One. The profile of the photo is Adobe RGB 1998. When soft proofing in Aperture I use the printer profile I created with Eye-One and the image looks fine on my display.
I've read various threads where people have solved this problem by making sure they use Adobe RGB 1998 across the board, which I think I am doing.
One huge concern is that I'm ready to have a wedding book published via Apple and I don't know if the images are going to look like they do printed via Aperture, or Photoshop, or something altogether different.

    David,
Thank you for enlightening me about the Nikon/color space.
What is frustrating is that I've calibrated my Epson 4800 and 30" ACD. In Aperture the color and exposure looks fine when soft proofing, but my prints come out with a magenta tinge and are too light. When printing the very same file in Photoshop (via Round Trip from Aperture), the image looks the same on my monitor as it did in Aperture but the print comes out very close to what I see on the screen. There has to be something else going on. I turn off the System Management of color, what other settings do you set? However, I set the printing settings the same for Aperture as for Photoshop.
Since you have much of the same set-up as I do, I'd like to turn to another question. I'm trying to order a wedding book via Apple. When I click the "Buy Now" button, all the following dialog boxes have a combination of French, English, Dutch? - and when I reach the final dialog box I see in English, "Please correct the following issues". The item on the list that I should correct is in Dutch or Swedish. Has this ever happened to you and how can I fix the language issue. I searched the threads and see people with the same problem, but no remedy.
Another question if I may... When I click "Buy Now" the first dialog box says that there is a blank text box (which I suspect is the issue that the Dutch sentence is proclaiming). I've tried finding the blank text box by Select All, but only the photo fields are highlighted. Do you know how to find a blank text box?
Thank you for your suggestions. I've asked about the foreign language and text box issues but haven't received an answer yet.

  • Can't upload to flickr from Aperture 3.5.1

I've just recently tried to upload to Flickr from Aperture 3.5.1 and am getting an error message:
"Aperture is no longer authorized to use the Flickr account "Michael Meyers" Do you want to set up publishing to this account again?"
I then click on the "set-up" button and am taken through to Safari to login to Flickr. I can do that successfully but then get a message saying "Oops! Flickr can't find a valid callback URL."
So it looks like there is no way for me to export from Aperture to Flickr.
This might have something to do with the Flickr API changing to use SSL only but I can't really be sure since the error messages aren't that descriptive.
    Any ideas?

Check, if the "Primary Only" flag is active. If yes, disable it.
With this flag active, only the primary image will be effected by edits.

  • Migrating from Aperture to LR - some questions

    Hey all,
I'm a current user of Aperture and I'm considering going to LightRoom but I have some questions/concerns.  I downloaded the demo and I'm playing with that but given my lack of knowledge, I wanted to ask some questions to get a feel for the product.
I'm not sure if my current aperture library is considered large or not but I have about 75gig of images to which I have them organized by project.  Since the birth of my girls I've been focusing a lot on them - go figure   Anyways the setup I have for them is a good example in how I typically setup up my images within Aperture. I'm not sure how easy (or not so easy this can be done with LR)
As you can see I have a folder called twins, then the year and finally the month.  The purple icons are smart albums, basically images that pass muster and I upload to smugmug.
I basically would like to have something along those lines in LR - have my images organized by event, date (if need be) and then a smart album of images that I'll be publishing.
I'm still getting used to the interface, there are things I definitely like and some things I need to work on a little more.  Any advice on moving from aperture to LR would be helpful though I do want to qualify that I'm still checking it out and have not made a decision to jump ship quite yet.
Finally are there any deals or such to lower the price of LR?

"while LR shows you your folders, offers the temptation of trying to categorise by them (resist it!), and allows you to organise and categorise by collections. You you aren't forced to use virtual folders, but can and should."
So you're saying don't organize the images in the physical folders - that's going to be a hard habit to break.  In playing with LR last night, I created a separate catalog called twins09 and I exported my masters (with the sidecar) out of aperture by folder, i.e., January09 goes into a separate folder, as does June09 etc.  I then created my smart collections of keepers by using the 5 stars and date constraints that LR provides, i.e, greater the 20090430 and less then 20090601 for May09 images.
What you're recommending is to create a twins 2009 folder and store all images there and then use collections/smart collections to organize the images.  Interesting. Given the habits I've picked up using aperture that will be a difficult adjustment.

  • What is the best way to upload pictures to Facebook from Aperture?

Right now i log into facebook, create a new album or add to an exisiting album, my finder opens, i select the photos, click ok, then click upload. The picture looks ok once loaded, but the color is off (brighter). When i email and export the picture looks just fine.
Am i doing something wrong? Is there a more efficient way to upload form Aperture to Facebook?

See this Manual page for exporting to Facebook: it explains how to set up your FB account from Aperture and to create a new Facebook album.

  • Error publishing reports from BW

    Hi,
I am facing some issues while publishing reports from BW system. I have taken care of all the settings mentioned in Integration Kit guide. We are using BOXI 3.1 SP3  OS:windows 2008 (64-bit)
The error that we are getting is:
"0000000001 An error occurred when retrieving the role metadata for YBW_BO_CONTENT_PUBLISHER. Returned with RFC code 18 and message: See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details"
I have enabled the trace also, still not able to find the root cause.
    Need help urgently. Thanks.
    Amit Tewatia

    Hi Startos,
I have matched the auth. as per the admin guide, everything is fine with the role. I have checked the trace file logs, part of which is below:
"Starting up callback server at 10.239.30.2 sapgw00 with prog-id SEGIDC8BBB5A3
    GetRfcHandle() returned with handle 0
Connection cloning failed. Message: See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details
    ERROR: .\job_defs.cpp 52: l_rfcDownloadRoleMdata failed with return code l_rcRfc = 18 Exception:
    Leaving job processor CPubJobGetRoleMetaData(YBW_BO_CONTENT_PUBLISHER)"
No idea why it calling this IP. This is not the IP of our BW server. please suggest where to check for this.

  • BW - EP Connection to Publish Reports From BW

We have implemented Enterprise Portal 6, and are running BW 3.5
I have been trying set up the connection between the 2 systems, so that I can publish reports from BW to EP
SSO between EP and BW is working - I can create a BW iview, or run a BW transaction without having to sign on again to the BW server.
I have checked the RFC connection from BW to EP using transaction SM59, and it all seems to be working fine.
When I am in the Web Application Designer in BW, there appears the option to Publish to Enterprise Portal 6.0. I can see the destination that I created to point to EP, but I can't see any roles/folders etc within the portal.
I have been through all of the documents that I have found in SAPHelp on configuring the connection, but have still had no luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there some permissions that I need to set up on either BW or EP before this will work?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    Regards
    Richard

Thanks very much for your assistance!!
    Deepu:
Thanks for pointing me to the note - that looks like it could be helpful - I need to talk to our basis adminstrator about a couple of things, and he is away for a couple of weeks, so this problem will probably be on hold for a bit now.
    Ashwin:
Thanks - I've checked the SSO to BW, and can see all of the BW reports in the BW repository in EP. My personal folders are all set up, but are empty.
I really appreciate your help on this guys. I'll try the changes in the OSS note (but won't be able to do this for a while), and will let you know if it is successful.
    Regards
    Richard
PS. I'm really sorry, but I don't seem to be able to allocate points for your answers - there are no radio buttons displaying on the screen for some reason - I'll see if I can contact SDN to get this sorted out.

  • Failed to commit objects to server. Error while publishing reports from BW

    Hi,
I am getting below error while publishing reports from BW to BO.
"0000000001 Unable to commit the changes to Enterprise. Reason: Failed to commit objects to server : #Duplicate object name in the same folder."
Anyone having any solution for this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Amit
It would be great if you could add a little info about how you solved this issue. Others might run into similar situations - I just did:-(
    Thank you:-)

  • How to sync both from hard drive folders and from Aperture?

I have the following problem. So far I was syncing photos directly from my hard drive folders and everything was fine. Recently I decided to add some photos from Aperture albums. When I did this all previous photos synced from HD were deleted. When I switched back to syncing from folders, the photos from Aperture were deleted. It looks that it is impossible to sync from both sources. Anyone had this problem and found the solution?

I couldn't figure this out on my device, so I just consolidated them into one sync folder by copying photos.
Good thing I have extra disc space.....

  • Copying pictures from Aperture 3

My wife wants to upload some of our picutres to the Costco web site for printing. She's been copying the individual images from Aperture to a folder on our desktop. In doing so she's noticed that the individual file sizes are quite small and that they're nowhere near the full size of the individual image files. How should she be copying the pictures so she gets a larger file size?

How should she be copying the pictures so she gets a larger file size?
How did she copy the files to the desktop? By dragging them from Aperture's Browser window? Then she will only have exported the previews, not the full size images.
    To export full size images,
select the image you want to export in the Browser.
Then use the command "File > Export > Version(s)" from the main menu bar
In the panel that will pop up, select a suitable "Export preset", for example "Jpeg - Original size".
If the exported image is still to small, set the "Export Preset" to "Edit" and check the export preset, if it has been modified.
