Publishing Word doc to Sharepoint as pdf

I have been fighting with the PDFMaker for over a week and still can't figure it out. I am trying to take a folder of word documents and convert them to pdfs, then publish them to a SharePoint server. The conversion to pdf is where I seem to have issues. I have seen numerous post stating that PDFMaker is not supported, so what options do I have? I tried to simply print the documents to the pdf print driver, but this does not allow me to capture the bookmarks from the word documents, which is one reason why we want to convert to pdf before publishing to SharePoint, simply a cleaner presentation to have the TOC or bookmarks on the left where they are always accessible rather than the beginning or end where the user has to scroll.
I am trying to do the through macro within Word, so that when the document is saved, it automatically prompts the user to save to sharepoint. If the user says yes, a copy of the document is saved as pdf and published to the SharePoint server.
Could someone point me in the right direction on how to complete this document conversion? I have both Adobe 8, Pro and Std available.

Thanks for your replies..I think i almost find the solution. I found 2 options to do this. They are :
1. Get Adobe Acrobat and it's SDK (has to buy)
2. Get OpenOffice 2.0.4 and it's SDK (opensource)
So, i do option 2. I install them in my system.then i call them from my ide. Then i follow the code from this link..

Converting a word Doc to a dynamic PDF

When I try to convert a word Doc to a dynamic PDF doc the process stalls at 94%. How can I get it to finish?

I am using Adobe Acrobat X Pro on a workstation using Windows 7.
I have converted docs this way many times before, but for some reason it does not seem to complete the process about 50% of the time these days.

I am trying to get my word doc's to fit PDF pages correctly

I have a website and I rely on my opt-in email lists when people sign-up for my reports that are sent out in PDF form. I write the reports in a 2007 word doc. and save them into a PDF but the pages don't save as a full page sometimes it only takes up half the width of the page and doesn't go to the top either as if it was simply centered in the PDF. How can I change this or what am I doing wrong? If you need to see the pdf just goto http://www.yourmobilevoice.com and you can download it yourself. It takes alot of time to write the reports but even longer to try to get them to fit properly.

Using Word doc after converting from PDF

I have just purchased Adobe Export PDF purely to complete a Job Aaplication form in Word rather than PDF but the Word document does not allow me to edit it properly - i.e. I cannot expand the text boxes to make them bigger and when I try to add in information like my name and the post I'm applying for, it moves existing text from the original PDF doc onto different lines. I assumed once I'd converted it I could use it like a normal Word doc but it seems not. Please advise what I'm doing wrong, thank you.

How can Hebrew letters in a pdf file be reproduced with Hebrew as a word doc using adobe export pdf?

I subscribe to Adobe Export PDF and it has worked well. Today I uploaded a PDF file with Hebrew letters and the downloaded Word doc did not format the Hebrew letters as Hebrew letters. Is there a way around this?

We embed as objects different types of files (i.e, pdf, excel, etc.) into our word documents. When those documents are PDF'd, you cannot open the files as they become pictures. Is there anyway I can have the embedded files open in PDF as they do in the Word document?

You can embed PDF file in word document by converting PDF to Doc, for this conversion you need PDF to Doc converter.
Or you can also embed PDF file in word as image by convert PDF to Image and attach image of PDF page in Doc, for this conversion you need PDF to Image converter.

Add a word doc showing fonts in PDF

I need to convert a word doc into a PDF, but I need to be able to show the fonts and spaces that are in the word doc to the PDF doc.. Is there a way to do that? Please assist.

Are you simply trying to say that you want the PDF to have the same formating as the Word document?
And before we go any further, this topic would be best brought up in the Acrobat forum. You will need Acrobat to create the PDF.

Can Form Fields from uploaded WORD docs become Sharepoint columns ?

We are in the process of uploading many Word docs from Shared drives to Sharepoint (2010 )
Some of the Word documents have information stored in Form Fields. For Example : BuyerName & SellerName. These fields need to be used in SP for sorting, filtering etc.
We have tried creating columns on Sharepoint with the same names (BuyerName & SellerName) but the information from the Word docs does not display in the corresponding Sharepoint columns once the docs are uploaded.
Any advice on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated !

Word Doc w/ Comments Creates PDF with Extra Space on Top & Bottom

I am converting a Word 2007 document to PDF and want the reviewer comments to show in balloons on the right side. When generated, my PDF ends up with inches of extra space on the top and bottom margins. This means my headers and rules are way out of place. I have tried saving the Word doc as a PDF as well as an Adobe PDF format, but neither option helps. Any ideas how to get the PDF to print in the set 8.5 by 11 without adding all this extra space on the top and bottom? Thank you!

I think you are looking more at the settings within WORD, not Acrobat. I would suggest you change the printer (in print menu) to Adobe PDF and then do a print preview. That is what WORD will send to a PDF. If that is not what you want, the problem is one of figuring out how to change the properties in WORD. I don't have a review document handy (will have to wait until I am at work) and see how it appears when I create a PDF. In the meantime, try to look at what WORD is trying to do, because Acrobat generally is just trying to give you what the application is producing.

Document Generation in MSA - Make Word Doc Read-Only or PDF Documents

The mobile sales client comes with an Document Generation tool to fill Word Document Templates with SAP data on demand.
Because of legal issues, we do not want to allow anyone to be able to modify the generated word document. Using the permission functionality of the word template is not working as it would prevent the Generator itself to fill in the data.
Is there any option to set the created Document to "Read-only" after the generation is finished or to convert the Word document on fly to a PDF version?
As I am not so experienced in VB I would appreciate any code examples.

there are at least 2 different ways to implement your request:
- before and after the word document is created you can start a word makro (which e.g. disables the document); this would be done in the method "TextGeneration" of the underlying BO, e.g. BOSALESDOCGEN. The code is quite simple, in earlier Word versions it was sth like
WordObj.ToolsMacro sMacroname, 1
- you can call any 3rd party SW to convert the doc file to pdf, similar to this thread
[MSA "Cancel login" functionality;

Created a word doc with links to pdfs, is Adobe XI standard enough to merge as one pdf document

I am looking to create one flowing document, without the need to send customers lots of attachments. I have a word document which has links to several other document types, usually pdf sometimes these have minimal volume other times these can be large in volume. Currently I have to send all the documents as a folder, but I would like to send one tidy document, so if I convert to a pdf with Adobe XI standard will my linked documents be automatically inserted creating one document (I have not purchased yet, researching first)?

with your file, neither in Acrobat Standard nor in Acrobat Pro. You can do
it, but you'll need to do it manually by converting all the files to PDFs,
merging them and then adding the links between them.

Word doc saved/printed as PDF looks bitmapped

I have a client who is trying to save an electronic letterhead as a PDF in order to send neditable legal documents. However, when they try this, everything in the PDF appears bitmapped. The cient described it as "fuzzy" or "soft", but when you zoom in, everything, including fonts and inserted images, look rasterized/bitmapped (see attached). I'm told this is occurring in older versions of Word as well as 2007 versions. Has anyone come across anything like this or have a solution?

Interesting. When I examined the document more closely, the PDF is made up of two Word documents, an older one from May and a new one from October.
The preflight tells me that everything from the newer portion has somehow been converted to bitmap, including graphics and text. Everything exported as bitmap when I used the Export All Graphics command. All of these graphics and text have the bitmapped look shown in the jpegs attached to the original posted question. I cannot use the Touch Up Text tool to edit any of this text.
The text from the older one is sharp (see attached). The graphic is soft but not bitmapped (see attached). The graphics (logos and signatures) from the older portion exported with the Export All Graphics command, but the text did not. I can use the Touch Up Text tool to edit the text in this portion.
Preflight also tells me that no images or fonts are embedded, throughout the entire PDF.
The Object Data Tool wouldn't show anything when I double-clicked on each image as instructed.

Why do words run together in the word doc I converted from PDF?

It happens not all the time, but randomly and frequently. Also, when I try to edit,I have to hit 'delete' before beginning a new sentence, or all of the inserted letters pile into one space! In other words, it's basically unusable. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.

This most often occurs when Word can't handle the font that was brought over in the conversion process. Try selecting the text you'd like to edit as a part of a larger block (such as a whole paragraph or page) and change the font to something else. This often helps.
