Pull out the SIM card without turn off
What would happen if I pull out my SIM card without turn off my iPhone? Is it harm my phone?
Probably not. I've certainly done it on a number of phones, unintentionally. But it's not best practice.

I can't pull out the SIM card from my iPhone
The SIM card in my iPhone is stuck now and I can't change the SIM card, what should I do?
Make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.

I have an older I-Phone (3G) that for some reason the body of the phone has split in two. This phone was a business phone and it had a lot of important information on it. I have a second phone that is also a 3G. On the broken phone there is a lot of important information that I need in my calendar. Im not worried about anything else but the calendar. I didn't have the Mobile Me account at that time or I would be having this problem. Does anybody know if I can ust switch out the sim cards. I just need to recover the old calendar, so im hoping that the calendar will transfer when I switch the sim card into the good 3G. If that doesn't work does anybody know of anyway that I can retrieve this information off of this phone?
Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone. If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events. Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

Pulled out my sim card, now Facetime wont' activate
I pulled out my sim card earlier this week and put it back in. I realized my face time was off. so i went to turn it back on.. but all it does now is say "waiting for activation"
why is this?
it won't activate at all. any solutions.
i've tried many solutions but without any luck.
as well, sometimes I turn on facetime, it automatically turns itself back off. what gives?WayneHowkins wrote:
Make sure your text messaging is activated. facetime requires a facetime text to connect.
Only on the iPhone. FaceTime with iPod Touch, iPad and MacOS has no such requirement. -
New iphone - when it crashes? pulling out the sim
Hi,
Have a new iphone and am delighted (except for the lack of 3 g) however it crashed (only once). It held the sleep wake button, then i tried the reset combination. Eventually it worked after about 40-45 seconds.
Because there is no option to pull out the battery (like my old Nokia N95 which never stopped crashing), I was wondering whether pulling out the sim might work to force a restart???
It's not ideal, but the time the pone crashed was ultra mission critical and I needed the phone function real quick.
thanks
tomIt's much quicker to put the phone in Airplane mode, and then turn it off, if all you want to do is to re-establish a connection to the cell tower. Taking the SIM card out and back in again, will effectively do the same thing, but takes longer; it won't reset/reboot the phone though - only pressing on the sleep and home buttons *until the Apple logo appears* will achieve this.

Can a thief take out the sim card and use phone like new?
I recently left my phone in a public bathroom and when I went back it was gone. So I believe someone has taken it and has turned it off. I am using Find my iPhone but the person has not turned my phone on in 3 days. I'd like to know, what could he/she possibly be doing to my phone? Could she have already taken out the sim card and started using it like a new one? Is that possible? Everyone says that it becomes a useless brick after you go through the procedures of locking it and putting it on lost mode but there is a way around it right..otherwise, why would people steal them?
If the iPhone has iOS 7, you set up Find My iPhone, and there's a screenlock passcode, then the iPhone is unusable to the thief or anyone he sells or gives the iPhone to.
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
The thief could have restored the iPhone which would cause it to no longer appear in Find My iPhone in iCloud, but it won't be usable. People steal them because either the thief is ignorant about Activation Lock, or they depend on buyers looking for a deal will be ignorant, which if you look at the many posts here from people who've bought an iPhone from a stranger and encountered Activation Lock is proof that such ignorance still abounds.
Regards.

I took out the SIM card before I sold a water damaged (non working) phone. Now the buyer wants my pass code. Is there still personal stuff on this phone?
The sim card ONLY holds the information needed to connect to your cell company, so yes, there still could be sensitive information on your phone. It should have have had Find My iPhone turned off and the phone's data and settings wiped before you sold it. You really do need to give the new owner your pass code if he is to use the phone. After he's gotten in the phone, ask him to turn off Find My iPhone and then go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Data and Settings and then he should set up the phone on his own Apple ID.

I have an I phone 4 that I use in Singapore, but would like to use it in the US while on holiday. How do I change out the sim card, and is there anything else that I need to do?
Ignore the other post (the one from Brendan), he has no idea what he is talking about.
Read your manual (you have a bookmark to it in Safari on your iPhone or put iBooks on your iPhone and download the manual from the iBookStore) and it will show you how to remove the microSIM from your iPhone. AT&T is not tourist friendly and does not offer a pay as you go plan for visitors with an iPhone. If you are going to be here for a short time you can probably buy a pay as you go microSIM and use it before AT&T notices, if it is going to be for a long time that won't work.
There is a 3rd party company that will sell you a microSIM that will work with AT&T but they are pretty pricey.
Finally, you can get a pay as you go microSIM from T-Mobile to work with your iPhone but you will only have EDGE data speeds.

I have a verizon iphone 5c and I took out the SIM card just being curious and put it back in, now I can only use my phone on wifi and I can't use 4G or LTE strictly wifi. How can I fix this?
Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? If that doesn't work, try resetting the network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
If that fails, you may possibly have damaged the SIM. Verizon will need to give you a new one.
Best of luck. -
if you have iPhone4 and can you take out the sim card from iPhone4 and transfer it in to new iPhone4s?
Under the circumstances this will probably considered a dumb question.
I currently have a jailbroken unlocked 3GS with a GoPhone plan. Works great. I am considering upgrading to a new factory unlocked 4S. Will I be able to swap in my current SIM card and go? -
After updating to iOS 7.0.1 ( I think it was, could also be iOS 7.0.2), now says that the sim card is missing? Have taken out the sim card several times, but it does not helps.

I bought a 4G SIM activation kit on the advice of a CS rep, who said I could change out the SIM card on my Verizon Droid X (currently in use with a customer loyalty plan) and switch it to a prepaid plan. But now it appears there is no SIM card to switch out. Google search finds several others have asked that question and the Droid X doesn't have a SIM card, apparently. But, the 4G SIM activation kit "Compatibility" tab claims that it is compatible with the Droid X, so what is the real story here? Do I have to send this kit back to you?
No. Call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you who it is locked to.

"No photos were copied" to iPhone 4 despite plenty of space
I have only 12 (5MP) photos to sync to iPhone, and 600 MB free (the iPhone and iTunes both agree on this). I had just deleted MANY more photos than 12, so adding a few back should be no problem. In fact, they'd just come from the phone's own camera r

I recently updated my Ipad 2 to IOS 8. Yesterday I was playing Candy Crush Saga (No sniggering) and put it down to do something else. I returned to find the screen had gone black, but was still illuminating. Tried to wake it up, but with no success.
