Pulled out my sim card, now Facetime wont' activate

I pulled out my sim card earlier this week and put it back in. I realized my face time was off. so i went to turn it back on.. but all it does now is say "waiting for activation"
why is this?
it won't activate at all. any solutions.
i've tried many solutions but without any luck.
as well, sometimes I turn on facetime, it automatically turns itself back off. what gives?

Only on the iPhone.  FaceTime with iPod Touch, iPad and MacOS has no such requirement.

What would happen if I pull out my SIM card without turn off my iPhone? Is it harm my phone?

Probably not. I've certainly done it on a number of phones, unintentionally. But it's not best practice.

Have you tried resetting your device by pressing and holding the Home button and power button until the silver apple appears? If that doesn't work, try resetting the network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
If that fails, you may possibly have damaged the SIM. Verizon will need to give you a new one.
    Best of luck.

OMFMs.jpg shows a problem, actually. "High Definition Audio Device" is your onboard sound - not the X-Fi. It's showing both outputs for the onboard, but only the S/PDIF output for your X-Fi. This either means that it's not detecting that anything's plugged in and automatically suppressing itself or that it's simply not working. Right-click on the Playback control panel in the centre part and check that both Disabled and Disconnected devices are showing and check for the X-Fi's speaker output to see if its existance is even being acknowledged.
If nothing is showing, try reinstalling the drivers. Just the drivers - no need to bother with the rest of the software. You shouldn't need to uninstall anything, rather just install over the top of what's already there.
Currently your sound is being directed through your onboard audio. Ideally, unless there's a specific reason for you having both enabled, you should probably disable your onboard audio through BIOS, or at least the Device Manager, if you're exclusively using the X-Fi for audio.
As for your second question, you should be using the HD Audio plug. Electrically the two are compatible but there are extra features offered by the HD Audio setup which don't exist on the AC97 standard. However if you plug this into your motherboard than you will in fact be passing your onboard sound through to the front jacks, rather than your X-Fi's audio. Check your X-Fi card along the front and top edge - there should be a 10-pin (one missing) connector which also accepts the HD Audio plug, which will in turn feed your X-Fi through to the front jacks.

I bought a 4G SIM activation kit on the advice of a CS rep, who said I could change out the SIM card on my Verizon Droid X (currently in use with a customer loyalty plan) and switch it to a prepaid plan. But now it appears there is no SIM card to switch out. Google search finds several others have asked that question and the Droid X doesn't have a SIM card, apparently. But, the 4G SIM activation kit "Compatibility" tab claims that it is compatible with the Droid X, so what is the real story here? Do I have to send this kit back to you?

No. Call Apple Care and give them the serial number. They may be able to tell you who it is locked to.

  • I took out the SIM card before I sold a water damaged (non working) phone.  Now the buyer wants the pass code to open it.  Is there still personal stuff on this phone?

I took out the SIM card before I sold a water damaged (non working) phone.  Now the buyer wants my pass code.  Is there still personal stuff on this phone?

The sim card ONLY holds the information needed to connect to your cell company, so yes, there still could be sensitive information on your phone.  It should have have had Find My iPhone turned off and the phone's data and settings wiped before you sold it.  You really do need to give the new owner your pass code if he is to use the phone.  After he's gotten in the phone, ask him to turn off Find My iPhone and then go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Data and Settings and then he should set up the phone on his own Apple ID.

  • I have restored my phone to factory settings and took out my sim card

I have restored my phone to factory settings and took out my sim card how do I know it has erased everything?  i am going to be giving it away so I want to be sure this is done right.  When I turn on my phone it now asks what language and so Im pretty sure I did it right. Any thoughts??

Then they're gone for good, if they're not in your backup.
This is why is is STRONGLY recommended to use your phone as Apple intends:  synch your contacts with a contact manager program on your computer or with a cloud service, and import your photos taken by the iPhone to your computer as soon as possible.

  • New iphone - when it crashes? pulling out the sim

    Hi,
Have a new iphone and am delighted (except for the lack of 3 g) however it crashed (only once). It held the sleep wake button, then i tried the reset combination. Eventually it worked after about 40-45 seconds.
Because there is no option to pull out the battery (like my old Nokia N95 which never stopped crashing), I was wondering whether pulling out the sim might work to force a restart???
It's not ideal, but the time the pone crashed was ultra mission critical and I needed the phone function real quick.
    thanks
    tom

It's much quicker to put the phone in Airplane mode, and then turn it off, if all you want to do is to re-establish a connection to the cell tower. Taking the SIM card out and back in again, will effectively do the same thing, but takes longer; it won't reset/reboot the phone though - only pressing on the sleep and home buttons *until the Apple logo appears* will achieve this.

  • HT1688 I have a damaged I-Phone and I need the contents of my calendar off of it. I did not have Mobile me at the time.  Can I swap out the sim card from the broken phone to a new phone and recover this calendar?

I have an older I-Phone (3G) that for some reason the body of the phone has split in two.  This phone was a business phone and it had a lot of important information on it. I have a second phone that is also a 3G.  On the broken phone there is a lot of important information that I need in my calendar. Im not worried about anything else but the calendar.  I didn't have the Mobile Me account at that time or I would be having this problem. Does anybody know if I can ust switch out the sim cards. I just need to recover the old calendar, so im hoping that the calendar will transfer when I switch the sim card into the good 3G. If that doesn't work does anybody know of anyway that I can retrieve this information off of this phone?

Nothing is stored on the sim card on an iPhone.  If you backed up to your computer the backup will contain your calendar events.  Otherwise, if your phone isn't functioning there is no way to back up or extract your calendar at this point.

  • If an Iphone4s is stolen, and the person took out my SIM card and restored it to factory settings, can my service provider still track it? I don't know my IMEI number if that is needed

someone stole my friend's Iphone4s today, and I want to know if it can be traced if the person took out the SIM card and restored it. I also want to know if her service provider can block the phone from use if there is no SIM in there and it is restored. thanks.

It cannot be traced. The service provider can block registration of the phone if it is a US carrier based on the IMEI. If you have the serial number Apple can tell you the IMEI. However, many stolen phones are shipped to other countries, where IMEI blocking for phones from other countries may not be honored. And a sophistcated thief or fence can change the IMEI.
If your friend did not have a passcode lock on the phone they should immediately change all passwords for email, twitter, facebook, bank sites - essentially anywhere that they use a password. Even if the phone had a passcode lock it is safer to change the passwords.
