Pulse Edge Counter VI Too Slow?

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to write a VI based off of one described here that counts the number of rising pulse edges from an external function generator with a frequency of 7.7KHz using the USB 6211 DAQ.
The function generator is plugged into Ctr 0 in the DAQ. A pulse train with user defined parameters at Ctr 1 is used to buffer the input signal. Ideally, I want the VI to count and sum the number of pulse edges. When the count reaches an arbitrary number (i.e. count = 256), it should reset the count and add one to a separate count to keep track of the number of "resets."
The pulse train I'm using to buffer the 7.7KHz input has the parameters of 16KHz, a duty cycle of 0.50, and an idle state of low.
The problem with my VI is that the count numbers doesn't match the frequency of the input signal. Running the VI for 10 seconds should give back a "reset" count around 300 based on the input frequency. But in actuality, I'm seeing only around 100. I am sure that this is not a hardware issue since running the example Count Digital Events.vi returns an accurate count. Running my VI in the highlight execution mode returns an Error -200279.
I attached the VI that I'm currently working on using LabVIEW version 8.0. I would appreciate any input.
Thank you for your time,
admlam

Hi admlam,
 I have attached a VI that I think will accomplish what you want.  You shouldn't need to use buffered event counting.

  • Encoder pulse edge counting on VBAI

    Hi I am Dana and currently using smart camera 1772C.
    I connected the incremental encoder (1200 pulses/revolution) to the camera in digital input port to trigger image acquisiton.
    This is working well and accurate when encoder is rotating at very slow speed.
    But the problem is when it goes a little fast (1 revolution /sec). It cannot read edges because encoder pulses just remain at high (=1) and doesn't change at all.
    On the monitor panel, I can adjust the sampling rate but the maximum is 150 Hz. Is this the reason why I cannot read the high speed pulses?
    Please anybody help me !
    Thank you

    Hi Dana,
    The sampling rate most likely maxes out at 150Hz because the digital lines can change that quickly, but I checked the specs for the 1772C, and it looks like the maximum frames per second for that specific smart camera is 65fps. In order to trigger off a 1.2kHz signal, you would have to divide the signal down to a maximum of 65Hz.

  • Count is too slow?Any alternatives?

    Query is taking forever.The data is against 11 million records.And encountered an error about metadata entry.
    Any idea?

    0. And encountered an error about metadata entry.
    What error?
    1. What Platform is this on?
    2. What version of Oracle is this?
    3. How is the data configured?
    Is it partitioned?
    If so are you using a partitioned spatial index?
    4. Is there a high level of accuracy? IE many decimal places?
    5. Define slow? What is acceptable

  • COUNT() too slow

    I am running a query that returns a count. This runs on a 9.2.0.5 DB on an E450, and even when I’m the only user , this query takes more than 2 sec., returning a count of 2500 , that is 2500 records match the join. Why is this running slow? Is there an alternative to use COUNT without application rewrite, like using counters?
    All tables and indexes are analyzed daily, using DBMS_STATS, other queries on same table run much faster. It seems the COUNT() queries are slower than most other queries.
    SELECT
    Count(T1.T1ID) AS CNT
    FROM
    T1,
    T2
    WHERE
    T2.USERID = :b1 AND
    T2.CompanyGroupID = :b2 AND
    T1.STATUS = 1 AND
    T1.CompanySiteID = :b2 AND
    T1.T2ID = T2.T2ID;
    this is the explain plan:
    ==========================
    SELECT STATEMENT . CHOOSE Cost = 11 Rows Expected = 1
    SORT AGGREGATE .
    NESTED LOOPS . Cost = 11 Rows Expected = 1
    TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID T2 ANALYZED Cost = 8 Rows Expected = 1
    AND-EQUAL .
    INDEX RANGE SCAN T2_US_IDX ANALYZED
    INDEX RANGE SCAN T2_CG_IDX ANALYZED
    TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID T2.T1 ANALYZED Cost = 11 Rows Expected = 1
    AND-EQUAL .
    INDEX RANGE SCAN T1_IDX2 ANALYZED Cost = 1 Rows Expected = 285
    INDEX RANGE SCAN T1_IDX4 ANALYZED Cost = 1 Rows Expected = 285
    T1 has 221000 records, T2 has 1100000 records.
    T1 has 65000 records which match (T1.CompanySiteID = :b2), 11000 records which matcvh this and (T1.STATUS = 1)
    T2 has 27000 records which match (T2.CompanyGroupID = :b2) and 3200 records which match (T2.USERID = :b1)

    Because T1 is about 1/5 the size of T2 I would think the place to start is on T1 potentially via an index on CompanySiteId if this value is distinctive. A composite index on CompanySiteId, status would be even better though I would test using a full tablescan before adding an index if none exists.
    However, what the explain plan shows is Oracle is driving on T2 performing two index range scans which it then combines on common rowids that are then used to access the table T2. This would seem to indicate that single column index exist on both filter conditions and neither value is that distinctive.
    The same index scan logic is used on T1.
    I would suggest that first you update the statistics and check the plan to see if it changed. If it changes compare performance.
    Is T1ID a not null column? If so then substitute count(*) since no other values are selected this might allow Oracle to stop accessing one of the table rows while producing the same result.
    If still no luck then try an ORDERED hint to see if you can get Oracle to drive on T1. T2ID would need to be indexed for this path. I would try forcing a full table scan of T1 and entering T1 via indexes the filter condition indexes just to make sure I understood the results.

  • New iMac running 10.10.1 frequently pauses, way too slow

    I recently bought a 27 inch iMac, installed Yosemite, and migrated my files by time machine from a 5 year old macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. Since updating to 10.10.1, I frequently get the spinning beachball while I wait to continue, and everything seems much slower than it should. Safari downloads take forever, compared to Firefox. I ran an EtreCheck report pasted below. I tried some easy fixes like removing desktop clutter, reducing transparency, but that doesn't affect the overall slowness. Any solutions welcome!
    Problem description:
    Installed Yosemite on new iMac, migrating from snow leopard on an older macbook pro.  Instead of being fast, processes frequently pause for bit while the beachball spins, then resume. Way too slow, much slower than my old macbook pro.

    My MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) is too slow after installing Yosemite version 10.10.1. All programs take for ever to load especially Safari and even chrome. I regret upgrading to yosemite, it was all fine with Maverick. Any suggestions ? ThankYou

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
    You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
    In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
    You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
    Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Pl/sql block is too slow, should  procedure a better option

    Hi all,
    how to tune A PL/SQL block that traverse cursors and fetch millions of records then execute inserts in different tables,
    using execute immediate statement.
    It's too slow and takes 10 hours to populate 40 tables having millions of records,
    as i have to do some modifications in data so can not do it by CTAS,
    i.e. a single sql statement.
    Should i make a procedure, does it help .
    Please help or suggest As i am New to PL/Sql
    My code look like,

  • Insert too slow

    Hi DB Gurus,
    Our application is inserting 60-70K records in a table in each transaction. When multiple sessions are open on this table user face performance issues like application response is too slow.
    Regarding this table:
    1.Size = 56424 Mbytes!
    2.Count = 188,858,094 rows!
    3.Years of data stored = 4 years
    4.Average growth = 10 million records per month, 120 million each year! (has grown 60 million since end of June 2007)
    5.Storage params = 110 extents, Initial=40960, Next=524288000, Min Extents=1, Max Extents=505
    6.There are 14 indexes on this table all of which are in use.
    7. Data is inserted through bulk insert
    8. DB: Oracle 10g
    Sheer size of this table (56G) and its rate of growth may be the culprits behind performance issue. But to ascertain that, we need to dig out more facts so that we can decide conclusively how to mail this issue.
    So my questions are:
    1. What other facts can be collected to find out the root cause of bad performance?
    2. Looking at given statistics, is there a way to resolve the performance issue - by using table partition or archiving or some other better way is there?
    We've already though of dropping some indexes but it looks difficult since they are used in reports based on this table (along with other tables)
    3. Any guess what else can be causing this issue?
    4. How many records per session can be inserted in a table? Is there any limitation?
    Thanks in advance!!

  • DAQmx non-cumulative buffered edge counting (like the PMT TTL problem) with PCI6221 in C program environment

    I have a PCI-6221. I am programming in C/C++ and DAQmx. My application is much like the previous thread counting the number of asynchronous TTL pulses from a PMT in some user specified time interval. The time interval is typically around 1 msec and the signal rates are around 1-10 kHz. So I expect to count 0 to 10 pulses per timebin. In traditional DAQ this was called Non-cumulative buffered edge counting.
    To get a clock at about 1kHz, I first create an "analogue in" task that samples at 1kHz. The only thing I use this task for is to route its sample clock to the gate of the counter. This defines my time interval as 1 msec.
    I then create the counter task. I am using count edges. So I think counter0 gate = PFI9 and source = PFI8.
    DAQmxCreateCICountEdgesChan(*taskHandle,chan,"",edge,initialCount,countDirection);
    DAQmxCfgSampClkTiming(*taskHandle,clockSource,rate,DAQmx_Val_Rising,DAQmx_Val_ContSamps,samplesPerChan);
    where clockSource="/Dev1/ai/SampleClock"
    I apply my signal to PFI8.
    After starting the task, I read an array of values with
    DAQmxReadCounterU32(taskHandle,samplesToRead,10.0,data,samplesToRead,read,NULL);
    I expect the array data to have values ranging from 0-10 for PMT input with an average rate of about 10 kHz. The trouble is that the array data does not seem to make sense. I get constantly increasing values. For very low input frequency, it just increments by one per array member.
    More troublesome, when I hold PFI8 at ground, so that I expect zero pulses to be counted at the source for each edge at the gate that occur 1 per msec, I get a timeout error. I really must be able to count zero events per bin.
    Am I doing something obviously wrong?

    Hello,
    The behavior of non-cumulative event counting is equivalent to period measurement. Additionally, the timeouts when no edges occur on your event counting terminal are the result of duplicate count prevention. In DAQ 7.4, the default behavior of duplicate count behavior should take care of this for you, but if you cannot upgrade to DAQ 7.4, I'd do a search of the discussion forums for "duplicate count prevention". There are a number of previous posts about this attribute, including this one.
    If you aren't using the second counter on your device, you should be able to use the Period Measurement 2 Counter High Frequency measurement method to get your desired values. The "Measurement Time" attribute in this case would be the "sample clock" (1 kHz in your example). Then just raed the data raw to get counts rather than scaled.
    If you'd like to do it using the AI timing engine. Configure a 1 counter period measurement task, use "clockSource" as your input terminal and use your PMT TTL pulses as the "Counter Timebase Source". Then read the data raw, since the scaling will not be appropriate for your needs.
    I hope this helps!

  • Ctr0 Edge Counting Issue

    I have a PXI-6602 and am writing a C++ class to control the card. I am experiencing an issue when using ctr0 for edge counting. My setup includes one PXI-6602 and a BNC-2121. I'm using the continuous pulse signal as the source signal to the counters. My software execute the following functions in order.
    // Clear any old tasks
    DAQmxClearTask( TaskHandle );
    // Create new task
    DAQmxCreateTask( "ctr0Task",
                              TaskHandle );
    // Setup channel
    DAQmxCreateCICountEdgeChan( TaskHandle,
                                                "\CTR1\ctr0"
                                                DAQmx_Val_Rising,
                                                0,
                                                DAQmx_Val_CountUp );
    // Start Task
    DAQmxStartTask( TaskHandle );
    // Read counter value
    DAQmxReadCounterU32( TaskHandle,
                                     DAQmx_Val_Auto,
                                     10,
                                     buffer,
                                     sampsRead,
                                     NULL );
    I execute the above code and let the task run for approximately one second. I read one sample of zero (0) counts on ctr0. When I execute the same code for the other counters, I read around 464 counts, which I believe to be valid.
    Why am I reading zero counts on ctr0?
    I have tried the following:
    1) Using the Test Panel, I setup ctr0 for edge counting and used PFI39 (ctr0Source) as the source signal and everything worked as expected. So I know the hardware is working. I also selected the 20MHzTimebase signal as the source and everything worked as expected.
    2) I manually setup a task within NI-MAX and everything worked as expected.
    3) Within my software, I routed the 20MHzTimebase signal to ctr0 source and received counts although the value was incorrect. No matter how long I let the task run, I would only read around 260 counts. When routing the 20MHzTimebase to one of the other counter's source, everything worked as expected.
    4) I also routed PFI39 to the source of the other counters and everything worked as expected.
    Is ctr0 special or reserved? Does it have a unique timing characteristic that I'm unaware of?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hey
    There should not be any issue. I have that board and used that in lv, but try the attached code and see if this works.

  • 10.9.4 update- MacBook Pro now too slow to use

    I installed the 10.9.4 update on July 17. Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro. It has since become too slow to be functional. 'Spinning wheel' constantly, and delays after keystrokes. I had no problems at all before this update. I have read that repairing disk permissions sometimes helps and have tried that. I sometimes have brief periods of normal performance, then it slows down again.
    The problem is not specific to an application. It is slow regardless of what I am doing, even when first staring up and logging in.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions.
If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.

In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results.

  • Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)

    Yes I have searched but I couldn't find an actual solution to get logic to stop doing this every other minute (literally). I used to think the 'smart' snap feature was the most annoying thing in logic, but this waaaaaay surpasses it.
    Anybody found a solution yet?
    Logic 9.1.0 32 bit.

    The thing to remember is that the infamous 'disk too slow' or 'CPU too slow' error messages aren't just some random bug that needs fixing. They are actually warnings that are there for a reason. You'll get them in any DAW - or any kind of audio or even video application - that needs to do a lot of disk read/writes and CPU work in realtime. There is plenty of advice out there on how to optimize your system to get it to perform as best as it can (even in the Logic documentation), but there is obviously a physical limit to how many tracks and plug ins you can use. When you hit this limit, then all the warning is telling you is that your drive or CPU are actually too slow for the task at hand. At that point, there are other workarounds (like freezing tracks, adjusting buffer and other settings, or bouncing subgroups etc) to keep you working. In some cases it might mean that your work is beyond the capabilities of the machine you're using, in which case considering getting a faster Mac and/or faster hard drive(s) is the next solution.
    Another thing to keep in mind is that Logic uses a kind of resource optimization process, built in to the audio engine. This means that sometimes you'll get a 'disk too slow' error in some part of your song, but when you play through that part a second time, you don't get the error again. This behaviour is markedly different to how other DAWs work, notably ProTools, where the disk and CPU resources are pre-allocated to guarantee performance up to a pre-defined maximum limit of tracks.. The upside of Logic's dynamic engine is that it allows Logic to squeeze out every last drop of power it can get it hands on, by not doing any processing on tracks that aren't playing audio at a given time. But the downside is that you can get CPU or disk too slow errors at seemingly random places. It can be confusing to see a disk too slow message when playing a certain passage, and then not seeing it again in exactly the same passage later.. leading to people wondering if it truly is random, and a bug. But it isn't a random bug, it's just the way Logic handles audio in an effort to get the highest track count possible at any given time.
    Btw, @ fuzznormal: While I agree with pretty much everything you said, you make it sound like a MacBook Pro's internal drive is slower than it really is. Honestly, even if you have put in dedicated SATA II cards or some kind of decent SCSI in your G4, the system buss alone on those old machines is at least an order of magnitude slower than the system buss on any current Mac.. It creates a pretty formidable bottleneck which wipes out a significant amount of any speed advantage the G4 with dedicated drives might have over a MacBook Pro using its humble internal. I (like everyone) used to have a snazzy G4 with a fast SCSI card (I think it was SCSI anyway), and there's no way I could get anywhere near as many tracks running as I can now on my MacBook Pro using the internal drive. Of course I don't usually use the internal drive for audio, but on the occasions that I've had to, it happily chugged out more tracks than my old G4 could, with very rare disk overloads.

  • Disk too slow - this is driving me nuts, I need help.

    Before you tell me to search: I DID SEARCH. Didn't find a direct answer. I need (if at all possible) a step-by-step solution from you experts out there.
    Situation:
    Logic Pro 9 version 9.1.1 (1697.53) in 64bit mode
    16 audio channels via firewire
    External HD via eSata express card (3Gb)
    XBench results:
    Score: 80.33
    OS: 10.6.4 (10FS69)
    RAM: 4096
    Model: MacbookPro 5,2
    Drive Type: WDC WD10EAVS-00M4B0
    Disk Test: Sequential = 125.35 and Random = 59.10
    What can I do to resolve the "disk too slow" issue? Recording will stop in the middle of the take, that can't happen... I'm ******* musicians off with this issue. HELP PLEASE....

    You might find it helpful to run this benchmark. You can get a sense of how your machine compares with similar machines. This might help you diagnose if there's something wrong with your system.
    And it seems counter-intuitive, but I think you should do a test where you record to your system disk.
    You should also keep an eye on Activity Monitor to get a sense of other things your Mac might be doing without you being aware of it.

  • Zepto too slow?

    I got a Zepto 6625WD laptop (core 2 duo 2,4GHz, 2gb ram, 120GB 7200rpm) and I'm trying to run lightroom 2.0 beta but it isn't workable imo because it's way too slow! Scrolling through my images is jerky and a simple thing like straightening a photo takes way too long!
    This is the output of the system info window in lightroom:
    Lightroom version: 2.0 Beta [439142 Beta 1]
    Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3, v.3264 (Build 2600)
    Version: 5.1 [2600]
    Application architecture: x86
    System architecture: x86
    Physical processor count: 2
    Processor speed: 2.3 GHz
    Built-in memory: 2046 MB
    Real memory available to Lightroom: 716.8 MB
    Real memory used by Lightroom: 183 MB (25.5%)
    Virtual memory used by Lightroom: 215.8 MB
    Memory cache size: 106.6 MB
    Application folder: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom 2 Beta
    Library Path: C:\Documents and Settings\r\My Documents\My Pictures\Silvertone\Lightroom Catalog.lrcat
    A friend of mine has a way older toshiba (1,5GHz single core, 2gb ram), and it runs much better on his laptop!
    I have about 2200 photo's in my catalog. I optimized the catalog and rendered all 1:1 and standard sized previews. Auto write changes to xmp is ticked off...
    How can this be? Any solutions?

    thanks for the advice... I did the things that are described there but no luck, still the same!
    I then followed the guidelines on this site: http://www.lightroomforums.net/showthread.php?t=2137
    This seemed promissing but the performance didn't improve significantly, still jerky scrolling!
    I tried to install different kind of drivers but they all had the same performance...
    If I put my color quality to 16bit, my gpu to performance and all other quality stuff to the minimum, then lightroom is faster but still not fast enough imo (and 16bit color really sucks)!
    I now deleted my catalog and imported 70photo's, still the same so the size of the catalog is not the problem.

  • Edge counting inaccurate

    I'm getting inaccurate results from my USB-6210 edge counting check from MAX. I have a TTL source that generates four pulses that is connect to PFI0 through a simple RC filter (390 ohm and 0.02uF). I start the edge counting from the test panel in MAX choosing PFI0 as the edge source. When I trigger my four pulses I receive a much larger count (sometime up to 20 counts) from the MAX test panel. Only when I remove the RC filter do I receive an accurate count (4 pulses exactly). I need to use the RC to filter out some 45KHz noise generated by another piece of equipment in the lab. I know I can set up the USB-6210 to use a time-based filter but I thought a simple RC filter would be a quick solution.
    I have tried this with a USB-6211 with the same results. Only the USB-6009 preformed as expected with accurate counts. The USB-6009 edge count is not affected by the RC filter.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,

    It doesn't .  You should use the digital filter.
    goldenrad wrote:
    It is interesting that the filter works perfectly on the USB-6009.
    It's probably a bandwidth issue, there's no hysteresis on the 6009 inputs either.  The 6009 event counter can only count up to a 5 MHz signal according to its specificaitons.  The 6210 however supports an "external base clock frequency" of up to 20 MHz.
