Pumping Audio through G5 Sound Input

My personal iPod and my G5 at work must share one set of speakers. I keep having to unplug the stereo cable from the back of the G5 headphone jack to switch to the iPod as audio source.
I can attach a stereo cable between the iPod and audio input jack and see the level meter jumping in the Sound Preferences while music is playing, but I can't hear it.
Is there a way I can get audio to play through the G5's audio input and get it to come out the speakers?

This is probably what you are looking for (LineIn)

  • 55G310 Toshiba LCD TV Has no audio through HDMI 1 input

I bought this TV last october new from Best Buy, and Have so far only had 1 HDMI device going in to the TV.  Today I went to plug in a second device, and I plugged it in through the HDMI 1 input.  I get picture, but no sound.
I tried other hdmi cables and devices to see if they were the problem, but in all cases I get picture without sound.
Is this an issue I can fix in some other way, or will I need to enact my warranty?

If you plug the device you were originally using into that port, it won't have sound either?
Try resetting it to factory defaults. Press "MENU" and open "Setup." Select "Installation," "System Status, and "System Information." Select "Factory Defaults" and then confirm. After a short wait, it should turn off. Ensure the TV's off and unplug it from power. Leave it like that for a minute, then reconnect it.
If the problem persists, yes, you should contact customer support.

  • How to get pc audio through seperate stereo receiver - Audig

    Hello,
I have an Audigy 2 SC and a yamaha 5. stereo receiver + subwoofer:
    http://www.yamaha.ca/av/Hometheatre/YHT70S.jsp
I've been trying to get my pc audio (songs, dvd's,pc games) to go through the receiver. Thus far I have only been able to hear audio through the green input (one of the line outs) yet I only hear audio on the right side of the 5.. Only the front right, back right and center speaker are emitting the audio. In the options I have de-selected the "Digital Output Only" tab, set the speaker settings at 2.. The cable that I'm using is a headphone jack at one end (into green input port) and RCA's at the other hooking into my AUX inputs on the receiver.
How do I get either get 5. or just the front speakers to work properly?
    Many thanks for anyones help

    Hi and welcome..
didnt use Bluetooth for audio  , but Try to look at windows system sound section,... like a receiver you have to choose where sound comes , think windows could that not know automatic  ...there should be in the a menue where you can  change to bluetooth device instead of internal Audio  ...

  • I have a record player hooked up through the audio port.  The input volume is registering high, but there is no output anywhere.  Help?

I have a record player hooked up to a preamp which is hooked up through the audio port. The sound settings are set to have the audio port be "input".  The input volume is registering high with fluxuations in the sound settings, but there is no output anywhere.  Do I need some sort of third party application or widget to hear the record i'm playing through the speakers that are hooked up to my computer?

    keithstopher,
You may want to check into a USB interface, as I believe you have a Mac with the single audio port, which can be used as input OR output.
You may want to check into something like the following, there are may out there, see what fits your needs best.

Can I connect my Apple TV to the Blu-Ray using an HDMI/ USB adapter?
If you can find such a thing.  I really doubt that exists since USB is a data connector not a video connector.
would allow me to run the audio through my stereo.
That would depend on this adapter.

  • System sounds through internal speakers but other audio through USB Soundcard

    Hi there,
I am having a bit of an odd problem. I have a USB sound card and when using it plugged directly into my Macbook Pro retina's USB slot all audio comes through the sound card however when using the sound card connected to a USB hub almost all sounds except for system sound come through the speakers (e.g. deleting a file in finder noise comes out the internal speakers or sending an email sound etc.). Does anyone have any ideas on how to get all the audio to come through the sound card or as to why this is happening?
I have checked system preferences and it says USB Audio Device is the output. I have tried changing it to internal speakers and back again but this hasn't fixed the issue.
    Thanks
    Ben

Applications -> Utilities -> Audio MIDI Setup; select the desired output device and click on the gear icon at the bottom, select 'Play alerts and sound effects through this device'.

I'll answer you here, as I believe it may be helpful to other users as well... You will need to download the latest drivers for Li've! 24-bit under Vista, which are available [url="http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?MainCategory=&nRegionFK=&nCountryFK=& nLanguageFK=&sOSName=Windows+Vista+32-bit&region=&Product_Name=Li've%2+24-bit&Product_ID=035&modelnumber=&driverlang=033&OS= 26&drivertype=0&x=29&y=0">here[/url]. These add AudioConsole, which allows you to select CMSS options for your soundcard.

On Windows XP this was never the case, for surround sound I would leave it in Dolby mode.
This is indeed strange... In ProLogic mode, as I already said, it'sproduces?surround sound from the 2 front channels but this is not the same as discrete sound, which is eventually 6-channel analog or Dolby Digital. It really all depends on the content you are playing. Also note, that a lot of the Dolby movies available on the web, may use AC-3 format, but may still be stereo only. On this content ProLogig will produce nice surround sound. (Media Player Classic states clearly how many channels are actually available)? If you however playback a true 6-channel AC-3 movie and you have ProLogic enabled, you will most probably not hear any dialogue, or just its echoe... (Assuming that you leave the AC-3 decoding to happen on the soundcard, which will then send the signal through the 6 analog channels)? How is your soundcard connected to the receiver? SPDIF/Optical or only analog??

  • Record audio through jack input

    Hi,
does anbody know if and how it is possible to record audio through my Q5's jack audio input (not through mic!)?
In case it's not supported via existing apps, can it be programmed via some API?

  • Apple TV...how to connect to get sound through my sound system (I have a satellite receiver and also Russound system)

Just hooked up my Apple TV.  It's great.  I have a satellite receiver and also a multi room sound system where I would like the sound to come through.  Can anyone tell me how I would connect to accomplish this.  My HDMI is connected so the sound is coming through my TV just fine.  I would like it to come through my sound system instead.  Your assistance is very much appreciated.

    Hi:
My system is as follows.  1 only HDMI output on TV.  I purchased an HDMI switch box/unit.  I have the output from the Switch Box Unit going into my TV.
I have 5 inputs on the switch box unit.  2 I have used.....
1 input from my television satellite receiver
2 input from my Apple TV
    My other equipment is
1 home theatre system.  This is where the sound from my TV goes through
1 russ sound whole home sound distribution system
When I play my Apple TV I am still getting the sound of my satellite TV.
This suggests that your satellite receiver is connected to your "home theater system" (which I will shorten to AVR "Audio/Video Receiver") for audio. Is this correct?
If so, then your problem is that you're switching video inputs, but not audio, and what I listed as (2) applies:
    2. You can connect the ATV to the TV using HDMI. Then you can either:
2a. Connect the TV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
2b. Connect the ATV to the AVR using an optical cable for audio.
You've connected the ATV to the "switch box" instead of the TV, which amounts to the same thing, as you're just expanding the number of HDMI ports on the TV by using the switch. So your simplest solution is either 2a or 2b. If your TV has an audio out port, and it's the same kind of port that your satellite receiver uses, you can just disconnect the audio cable from the satellite receiver and plug it into your TV. You may have to enable "external speakers" or whatever they call it in the TV settings. This would be best, because then you wouldn't have to change inputs on the AVR to select the correct audio; you would just change inputs on the switch, and both video and audio would switch between the satellite box and the ATV, solving your problem. Note that an optical cable is required to get Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (surround sound), and I mention that because it's possible you're using an analog audio (RCA) cable. So an optical cable is best.
Beyond this, I would really need to know your TV and AVR model numbers, preferably accompanied by links to specification pages or manuals, and it would be very helpful to know how the satellite receiver is connected to the AVR for sound.

  • Is there a way to digitize audio using the headphone input on the 15-inch (late 2013) Macbook Pro with Retina display?

I'd like to digitize audio from a minidisc player into my 15-inch (late 2013) Macbook Pro with retina display, but can't see a way to change the internal mic input.  I understand that previous MacBooks allowed the headphone jack to double as a mic input, but mine doesn't seem capable of switching.  I've tried using a mini to mini cable, with no luck, and also tried using a headset splitter adapter (3.5 mm 4-pin to 2x3-pin 3.5 mm headset splitter adapter from Amazon) because I read that that would allow me to plug in headphones and input audio.  But in both cases, the only "input" available in my sound preferences is the built-in internal microphone.  Am I missing something?  Is there a way to digitize audio through the headphone jack?

Not likely. headphone jacks are usually output only devices unless specifically stated to support input, and even then, it may not be audio input that they support, but merely control input for volume and such.
You can get a USB audio input instead. i.e:

  • Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones.  Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio.  I have all that figured out.  I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs.  What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix.  I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone.  I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone.  I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone.  Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower.  Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't      figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
    Summed up:
    Trying to record:
-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
    -Record screen gameplay through Screenium
I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps.  That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record.  Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel)  Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it.  I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.
My computer: Macbook Pro MAC OS X Lion (11G63) 10.7.5  2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 13333 MGz DDR3  (If any of this is imporant)

    Hey guys,
I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

  • Itunes won't play anymore through external sound system

My mac functions as a Protools recording studio. The hardware (a Digi002 system) attaches to my G5 by firewire. Until recently, itunes worked just fine playing through this external system. I'd simply go to system preferences, change the sound inputs and outputs to Digi002.
These days I can still get all of my pro music software to play through this external Digi002 system. But something has gone amiss with itunes. It doesn't matter if itunes is already open, or not yet open. If I go to sound preferences and switch it to DIGI002, itunes ONLY plays through my internal compouter speaker. And if i go back to the sound preferences, i find that the external audio choice had been unchecked, as if by some function within itunes itself.
i have asked this same question on the Protools forum. Respondees give mixed answers, but basically say, yes it used to work, and no, it no longer works. Some say it WILL work, but you have to fire up your sound system BEFORE you turn on your computer. That is a totally disfunctional "solution" for my situation. Who wants to keep a sound system on all day long, when I may not use it for several hours at a time?
So what's going on here? And what did I install that made itunes suddenly not function with my external system? I strongly suspect it may be some newer version of itunes itself. If so, is there some workaround utility that will let me re-connect itunes to the Digi system? any help is appreciated.

Hate to do this, but we've gotta start with the simple **** first, and work our way up. The volume control in iTunes isn't turned down, is it?
Aside from that, you should launch Quicktime Player, go to File - Open, and open one of your iTunes songs in that, and see if you can hear sound there.
