Punch in manually w/o a stutter?

When punching in/out a guitar or vocal, garage band only allows a bar headstart. That's not enough runway. If I run the track back a few bars and attempt to punch in manually, the track stops briefly or stutters enough to ruin a smooth punch in.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You do need a plug adapter, just not a voltage converter.
So all you need is something to make the plug on your power brick fit Indian outlets

Erratic Capture of DV Footage

I have submitted a bug report on this, but I'm curious if anyone has any similar issues with capturing.
This concerns capturing DV footage on a Sony DSR-11 deck. This event footage was originally recorded on Sony DSR-1800 decks using the NTSC DV Widescreen preset. I logged and batch captured 17 clips from a 184 tape, and conformed them to 16:9. The clips ranged from 2 minutes in length to 24 minutes. Of the 17 clips, 13 were recorded on the scratch drive as expected at 720x480. But 4 of the 17 clips were recorded at 1280x480 px dimensions.
Since the original batch capture, I've tried various means of capturing the same clips -- smaller batches, single clips manually, single clips in to out, and about 20-25% of these attempts result in recorded 1280x480 clips. The obvious other alternative is to recapture the wrong clips, and that works - subject to the 20% wrong statistic.
Mac Pro, 8-core, 32 GB RAM, OSX 10.6.4.
Any feedback from PP CS5 users with similar issues or workarounds will be appreciated.

I've been using the DSR-11 for about six years, and yes, it is finicky. It loses in-points, and occasionally fails to capture logged clips, but I've captured countless hours of footage from it, and it has never captured a clip at the wrong size with the offending clip sandwiched by two that were captured at the correct size. PP CS5 capture software is suspect on this one.
I have fiddled with the control settings a bit with no joy. I have not yet tried to punch in manually, but I will try that.
Since I have another 3 hours of footage from the same event on a second tape, I'm considering capturing those clips with CS4 to see if I get any errors there. I believe I should be able to import the CS4 clips or project into CS5 for editing.

Problem with showing caller information on E90

I recently purchased an E90 and it appears to have a problem with showing the information of the caller (name) for those numbers that have been synchronized with Outlook 2003 or using Bluetooth from a Sony-Ericsson. The presentation of the caller information for the numbers that I have punched in manually works just fine.
Does anybody have the same problem and if so what is the solution if it is a configuration issue as it sure sounds like a software bug..

unfortunately the quick office solution bundled with the E90 is very much inferior to the ones found in the older communicators. you Must PAY to upgrade to a better version w/c to my mind is still inferior to the basic version found in the 9X00/i series communicators

Freezing problem! (yes another one)

Hi ive seen this is a problem with loads of people, and it seem to be a ram issue!
yes i have a B2 board and bios 1.4
and i am not using the 6gbps ports just incase
people have solved it by
"I had exact same issue with very close hardware ( only dif is 2500K instead of your 2600K, and B2 motherboard ) and after many test I finally found the solution by changing SPD memory from JEDEC4 to XMP-1600.
JEDEC4 was completely unstable , I got no BSOD but random freeze, especially when idling/low activity.
IMHO Corsair memories are definately not stable with JEDEC4.
Now 10 days with XMP SPD and fully stable ! "

Ive formatted again! and i would like your help so i can fix this once and for all! and assume i know nothing about to computers!
PS no im not changing my B2 for a B3 till this is solved! :D

Yes. When a BIOS is flashed, all settings should be stock/auto/default.

For me the freeze is gone when I ENABLE XMP profile . If I leave default setting I get the freeze back. Its been like that since few bios version back. Easy enough. Before I had to punch in manual values for ram and tweak the voltage.

Manually record w/o a stutter.

When attempting to auto-punch in a guitar or vocal, garageband only gives you a bar (with click). That's not enough runway.
When I try to go back a few bars and manually punch in, the track sputters and stutters and makes it impossible to land on the beat properly.
Any ideas?

First decide what type of GUI You are going to use
(ASP,VB,JAVA...)
If you are using GUI you must use either ODBC or some related
database connectivity.

Logic Pro X Unknown Punch-Out Range

Hello,
For some reason when I try and setup an auto punch, the punch out marker is unknown and the red bar seems infinite... so I can't set a proper out point. Does anyone know how to reset the range... maybe enter it manually?

Control Click on the Control Bar and customise: add show Sample Rate/Punch Locators
You can then adjust the Punch locators numerically
Alternatively, use one of the Punch In/Out locator key commands such as Set Punch out Locator by Playhead (default Control Option Command O)

Is there a hardcopy available of Motion 3 User Manual?

I till cost you $50-$300 to get it printed at Kinko's or Office Depot.
Use full size paper, don't try to scrimp by using half sheets. The illustrations and captions go all to heck when scaled down.
Print both sides, punch for 3-ring binder.
Call around to find the best printing deal but I do not recommend trying to print it yourself unless you have access to a very fast laser that will duplex.

Shall i input data through PA61 in Attendance infotype/ Time event infotype
For what purpose is time event infotype used
and what will be the time evaluation in this case (Manually entering time in out)

whether u have entered dta manually or through swipe card doesnt matter as long as u want put the data
the time evalution depends upon what your clients
as far as i can understand frm your query it is positive and
the input of in / out is actual data
i beleive if i am not wrong it is time evalution actual

How-to manual for Terminal for OS X 10.5.8

I cannot find, on this site, an operating manual for beginners for using Terminal for OS X 10.5.8. [Videos don't cut it for me; I need something I can print in large font, but I couldn't find a video either.] Must contain details and definitions. I programmed in machine language >40 years ago, but a lot has changed since then.
It is also not clear to me how to look for an answer. It took me an hour to log in; it had been well over a year since I was here last and I have brain damage which affects memory.

My favorite book for learning to use the shell and understanding the Unix principals is also a Brian Kernighan book
"The Unix Programming Environment", by Kernighan and Pike.
While this book was written in 1984, it is still a good book for learning Unix principals as well as learning how to use the shell.
While in a Terminal session, you can use the 'man' command to find out information about individual commands, although that is only use if you know the command exists.
The 'apropos' command is EXTREMELY useful, in that you can ask it to find any commands that mention a keyword you give apropos
apropos permissions

apropos directory
etc...
The 'man' pages are broken down into sections. Section 1 is user commands, sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 are programming APIs, section 6 is games, section 8 are administrator commands.
If you just want a list of all the use commands you could use
apropos 1
If you want the admin command list
apropos 8
Once you find a command that looks interesting, you can get detailed information about the command using
man command_name
NOTE: The command line interface is non-trivial. At one time it was considered user friendly back in the days when the alternative was a keypunch maching and 80 column punched cards. But today, the command line interface is NOT very friendly.
NOTE 2: There are some very powerful commands available from the command line. If you are not careful, you can delete files the system needs to operate properly, or delete something you personally needed. Deleting something from the command line means it is gone, unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to have a service recorder the data. Just assume anything you delete from the command line is gone.
But to those of use that have been using the command line for years, we find it an old friend that gives us a lot of power which would be difficult from a GUI interface.

MIDI Punch In

Hi All - I am new to GarageBand but have used other packages which do this - can you nominate a point to 'drop in' or 'punch in' a MIDI event? It seems that if I go back and try and re-do a chord or a couple of notes in a bar, I then overwrite other events later in the bar, even if I don't go to that point - when I stop recording, all the events to the right in that bar are gone. As I frequently anticipate bars by a 16th note or so, this becomes a vicious circle. Also if I try and paint in a note over a barline GB won't let me - it wants to move it to one or another bar.
Is there an answer in GB or do I really need to upgrade to Logic - this is something I intend to do but in most respects GB does everything I want.

Thanks but that is not what I see. Actually I really don't understand how GarageBand 8 handles overdubbing or dropping in. There doesn't seem to be anything in the Getting Started manual, nor in the Help.
What is happening is I try to record, say, bars 22-24, but other events in later bars dissappear as soon as I record anything. (This is all in MIDI mode. I have migrated over from CuBase SE, before that OpCode MusicShop - so I know what I'm doing.)
Either this application is not behaving as it should, or I don't understand it.

sir, one more important is i ve created for BRS purpose two GL accounts i.e 200001 Check deposit A/c and 200002 Check Issued account.earlier user direct use main GL Account i.e 200000 SBI Main Current a/c. in this wht should i do. all are payment made and received direct 200000 . m very confused. and huge transaction since 2007 to till date. now we want to BRS for the same.
Kindly help me so that we can start BRS from now onwards.

Stutter when I try to create motion effects with still images--

Can anyone help figure out the correct workflow? I am importing jpegs into my project re-sizing them and then manually creating the "ken burns" effect on them. And they stutter like crazy. I've been browsing forums for the past week and can't find a solid answer that works for me. Thanks in advance.

The images I'm testing today I re-sized in photoshop to be 1920x1080. One of the images was originally 1280x853 and I re-sized it to 1920x1080.
For my project I am storing all the video on an external G Drive. For the still image tests I've been running, I've tried putting them on the G Drive and also just on my internal drive. This has not changed the result.
I've tried exporting QTs to see if they'd play back any differently and they don't. I'm not sure what you mean by "delivery system", though. Can you clarify?

Burning an dual layer cannot set layer break manually

Burning an dual layer disk with layer break set to automatic seems to be causing to "stutter" somewhere in the middle of the project three or four times as if the layer break is not properly set. I did try this on two (new) burners and with several disks with the same result.
The picture stay still for about 2 or 3 seconds, 3 or four times and starts each time again losing some frames. Before and after that the project plays well.
I did try to make an manual layer break, setting the layer break to manual to look if this can override the problem. But when I do so, the burning process starts without asking where I should set the layer break.as it does when you set it to automatic.
It looks if the manual layer break is not functioning. I start Encore in the administrator mode.
Anyone suggestions what this can be?

You're right, I didnot have any problems with 2.0, but this version don't work correctly..Some times an already transcoded project changes in an untranscoded project without doing something, and more unexpected things appears ones in a while.
And this in not the only backwards devellopement of the Adobe editing system.
I did work with PPRO 2.0, Encore 2.0 and Audition 2.0 not having any problem.
Changing to PPRO 5.5 and Audition 5.5 and building a new computer on Adobe specs and this forum suggestions, I ren in as much problems that I am thinking of completely remove this and go back to the old 2.0 versions.
It looks as if the develloppers of Adobe lost the professionality needed to devellop a more or less plug and play system. Pitty.
