Punctuation Glitch in Adobe World Ready Composer (InDesign)

So I've had this problem for a long time and I found a long way to work around it, but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a quicker fix:
When I type in Hebrew in InDesign, the punctuation (usually periods, but not only) at the end of the line - of the last line of the paragraph - flip to be at the be beginning of the last line.  To fix this, I type another character after the period (usually a yud as that's the smallest) and set the color to none. This is fine when working with small amounts of text at a time, but when I'm working with pages and pages of text, this is really time consuming and annoying.
Has anyone come up with a way to fix this?
Thanks!

I actually just figured out that if you go into the paragraph style and change text direction there from default to right to left as well, it works.

  • Missing Adobe World-Ready Composer options

Some options of the Adobe World-Ready Composer are missing from my Paragraphs Panel (such as >¶ and <¶). I need to work a section in Hebrew, and I can't work on that section until these options are activated. Is there an extension I need to load?

I suppose you have InDesign from the Creative Cloud. You can change the language in the CC app to something else than a Western language (English, German, Russian, Greek, etc.) to e.g. Hebrew and Arabic. Then restart the CC app. Then install InDesign with Hebrew or Arabic. Change the language back in the CC app again to your normal language.
When you now start InDesign you will find the World Ready Composer in the Justification section in Paragraph Styles.

  • World-Ready Composer

World-Ready Composer: In CS6 (North American) only InDesign has world-ready composer, which enables RTL languages.  I need that functionality in Illustrator.  Presently RTL can only be typed LTR, ie backwards .
I'm attempting to cut and paste sections of the Pentateuch in Hebrew into Illustrator so that I can format the text for cross-stitch embroidery.  I already designed the cross-stitch true type font, which is working, but I need world-ready composer in order to paste RTL Hebrew in the correct order.
Adobe's only suggestion is to buy the Middle-East version of CS, costing $2200 or $750 just for Illustrator. (This is a completely volunteer project.) Clearly, if the composer feature is built into North American CS6 InDesign, it exists for Illustrator as well.
Is there another solution to the text directionality problem?

Thanks so much, Monika.  ScribeDOOR is exactly the right tool.

PS I need to use Illustrator in order to create outlines and manipulate or extend some of the letters.

  • Adobe World-Ready Composers - not available on my computer

I work in Indesign 5.5 om Mac OS 10.7 and need to typeset text in Arabic. I found out that I need a Paragraph option Adobe World-Ready Composers. This option is not available on my computer. Where do I find it and do I need anytning else?

You need either the ME version of ID, or a script or plugin, like World Tools from In-Tools.com, to work with RTL languages in CS5.5.

  • Copy & paste to new document doesn't preserve World Ready attributes

I am running ID CS 2014 under Windows 7.
I have 2 documents and am copying and pasting text from one to the other. Both have paragraph & character styles with identical names but different definitions. I want the pasted text to retain the styles from the original document with the new attributes applied which normally works perfectly. Both of these documents contain spot Hebrew text within English text, so all styles are set up to use the World Ready Composer.
What is happening is that when I paste the copied text into the second document (this is totally English text), it is behaving like Hebrew text in that it selects from right to left instead of from right to left, and punctuation is at the beginning of the line instead of the end of the line. Checking the settings for that document, the World Ready Composer is on and the keyboard and character direction both are set to "default" which is correct.
What I see is happening is that when it is pasted, in the paragraph style under indents in spacing, the paragraph direction changes to right-to-left (when the originating document and the new document both have the style set to left-to-right).
As I have a lot of such text to copy and paste, it is pain each time to redefine the paragraph style. How can I prevent this from happening?

What you are seeing is expected behavior-- pasted text with a style will always pick up style definitions from the document you are pasting into.
You can fix this quickly by creating style groups in one of your documents. You could collect all the styles in the Hebrew document into a folder called Hebrew. (Do this for the Paragraph styles and the Paragraph Styles).
This way, the new document will view them as new styles, and not change the formatting.

  • World-ready paragraph composer bug

The world-ready paragraph composer for Adobe InDesign CS5 & 6 unpredictably creates a ragged right margin on justified text when the text has been shrunk by reducing the tracking of the paragraph. The ragged right disappears when the text tracking is set back to zero OR the composer is changed.

Really? Can you post some more detail?  I mean, this forum is not the right place to report bugs - you are looking for this form if you want to report a bug - but I thought that I had a corner on reporting-WRC-bugs market. I can't recreate your bug in CS5 or CS5.5 or CS6. I know that you said "unpredictably" but what conditions can cause this bug to appear? FWIW, here's what I did in three different versions of ID:
    Start a brand-new print-intent document
    Insert one text frame
Fill with placeholder text, either lorem ipsum or Arabic filler, doesn't matter
Turn on the WRC (by script in CS5 and CS5.5)
Click either one of the justify-text buttons
Change tracking in increments of 20 with keyboard
and get... exactly what you'd expect. Haven't seen a rag right yet. What am I doing differently?

  • How to change World Ready Paragraph Composer footnote position?

    Hi there
I have imported a document from MS Word into ID, but for some reason the line above the footnotes is on the right hand side instead of the left hand side. I have looked at the options but i can’t seem to find anything that allows me to change the positioning from right to left.
I use world-ready paragraph composing a bit, and the document has a lot of transliteration and arabic script, but i have looked at all the options there are and they all seem to be fine, text running left to right, world-ready paragraph composing off etc. Does anybody have any ideas as to how i can move the line from the right to the left?
    Thank you so much!
    Thank you so much

The location of the footnotes divider depends on the story direction. (Type>Story and set the story direction).

  • It´s possible to call to Adobe Professional 8 with Indesign scripting (.jsx) [JS/CS3] ?

Hello, I would like to know if it´s possible to communicate with Adobe Professional through a Indesign script (.jsx). I need to convert the pdf file that I export from Indesign to specific standard type that is only available in Adobe Professional.
I want to save the Indesign generated file with Adobe Professional and obtain the pdf that I particularly need.
I would like to know if there is a way to do this.
    Thank u,
    Peter

    That's nothing!
An engineer and I contacted Adobe technical support by phone to ensure the PC I was having custom built was configured to its optimum. They advised XP64 as the best operating environment. After that discussion we had to completely revise procurement, etc to get the bits and compatible XP64 compatible software, putting the build project back a few weeks as well, Imagine how I laughed when I found out on one of these forums that XP64 is the worst choice and totally unsupported by CS4!
I have written to Shantanu Narayen, Adobe CEO and didn't even get an acknowledgement I raised this last week on the Adobe stand at BVE and was told they'd get someone to contact me asap but guess what, niet...! To be fair there has been one Adobe executive that recognises the problem and the damage poor customer support is causing the company; he has been as helpful as he can. Unfortunately, it seems the overall Adobe culture at the top is "get the money and run". If your problem goes beyond what's already on their web pages, tough luck!

  • Cannot apply style to layers in Adobe iMage Ready CS2

Can anyone help? I am trying to create rollovers in Adobe Image Ready CS2 and then apply a style. In this case an inner shadow and bevel & emboss. I have done this in the past without any problems. I can apply the styles, but they do not show on the layers and when I save the rollovers you still can't see the styles that I have added. What am I doing wrong?
If anyone has an answer, I'd be most grateful to hear it!!!!
    Many thanks

This is not an Acrobat question. Please repost in the Photoshop forum.

  • Compatibility with Adobe Image Ready ver. 7.0

I installed Leopard (10.5.2) and now Adobe Image Ready 7.0 (IR7) no longer launches. When I click on it to launch it the splash screen appears and the last thing it shows is "starting plugins" then the screen disappears but Image Ready is NOT loaded.
I realize that IR7 is rather old. I can't even find it listed on Adobe's support website!
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get IR7 working again under Leopard? (Worked fine in Tiger 10.4.x.)
If I can't resuscitate IR7 then I need another program that shows you what an jpg or gif will look like at different qualities before saving it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Try GraphicConverter - VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Adobe's ImageReady has been discontinued. Most of its features have been built into Photoshop CS3.

  • Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]

Yes, I can open the DPS portal via the Folio Builder panel within InDesign. Although I have created Folios locally within InDesign CS6, the DPS portal is empty and everthing greyed out with just the text "There are no folios to display. Create folios with the folio builder in InDesign".
If I try to sign in within the Folio Builder panel in InDesign, I get the error message [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE] . In addition I am also not able to access the "Help" menu from within InDesign although I am connected to the internet.
To complicate it even further, I am working in the UK whereas all internet control (firewall) and licences are handeled by head office in Germany. I am not sure if this is a firwewall issue or not but if the IT department in Germany could get support from Adobe to understand the access requirements, this may help.
Hopefully using the forum someone out there will know the answer.

  • Why do Adobe Color CC and Indesign CC not convert CMYK to RGB the same?

I recently used Adobe Color CC to create a color theme that will be used for both print and web.  I created the theme with approved CMYK values with the intent of saving the .ASE file to be imported into other CC apps.  Corresponding RGB, Hex, Lab and HSB values are automatically created.  Of course, we are using CMYK for print and RGB for web
A coworker had separately created the same exact CMYK theme in InDesign CC, and created RGB values from the same exact CMYK values I had used in Adobe Color.
The InDesign RGB values are quite different from the Adobe Color values.
Anyone know why the values are not the same, and moreover, which CMYK to RGB conversion values may be relied upon for accuracy?
EDIT: I guess the real question should be, What are the color management settings built-in to Adobe Color CC, and can they be duplicated in desktop Adobe CC applications?
    Thanks very much

I found what change it to normal way, but logicaly it's should not be a reason for autoconvert colors. If I choose CMYK and want add CMYK color it should be CMYK (in name minimum) and not RGB.
File->Documents Colors->CMYK(should be, but RGB was)
Right now options open like CMYK, not HSB. But if I want color in RGB it added like CMYK. Options like in CMYK, not HSB, again. Still look like error.

  • When is Adobe going to change InDesign

Adobe needs to change InDesign CS5 so you can save back to CS3, CS2, CS just the same as Illustrator where you can do a "save as" wright back to Illustrator 3.

So do you want it to act like QuarkXPress or any other page layout program?
When Illustrator saves to a lesser format, it destroys or dumbs down the features in the more recent version. You won't see a gradient mesh in Illustrator 88 format.  It is essentially an 'export', not a 'save'. InDesign can also export to a format that can be placed in older versions of InDesign.
There is an InDesign forum where this might be better addressed.
