I am in Pune, India and am trying to install Ora Apps 11i but getting error "The process tried to write to a nonexistent pipe" just before end of stage 2 (RDBMS install).

Login user id is invalid in oracle 11i apps 11.5.8 on windows 2003 server

Dear All,
I Installed oracle 11i apps 11.5.8 on windows server, when I try to start ie browser
with user administrator and password, it is showing me, user id is invalid, try to login in again.
and on the status bar down it is showing loginscript_logonsubmit().
I can login with sql+ as apps/apps.
Anybody can help me out.

your problem is not very unusual... I also faced the similar situation cpl of times when Oracle was not able to continue the installation coz the Immediate Shutdown was failed. Actually During the installation, Oracle mounts/opens the database and shuts it down many times and few times, Oracle is unable to shutdown cleanly as some process is hanging or not responding.
Piece of advise is that always use staging area to install Apps as it takes long time on Win2K (anything between 4-12 hrs) to install it and CDROM Access is lot slower than HDD. Also, it will prompt u every time to insert tbe CD. All this hassle can be bypassed by using the staging area. Read the Installation help document on how to create it.
For failure reasons, look in ur installation log file which is created in the default Temp folder usually C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for WinXP or C:\winnt\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for Win2K.

Accessing Oracle 11i apps through Pocket PC

Normally for any windows client to connect to the Oracle Server we add a entry into the client host file i.e. windows\system32\drivers\etc\host . Once we add the entry we are able to access the Oracle Application.
From a Pocket PC 2002 how do I access the oracle 11i apps ?

Oracle Apps is a suite of financial applications.
Oracle Application server is Oracle's scaled up implementation of Apache or Weblogic or similar products.
While Oracle Apps might use Oracle Application Server as middleware, Oracle Apps is much, much more than Oracle Application Server.
An Oracle Apps DBA is primarily busy on the functional side, and with implementing an ongoing stream of patches ;)
The two functions have almost nothing in common.

Manual staging in oracle 11i Apps installations

I am newbei to oracle app 11i please let me know Is it possible to stage manually instead of using perl script.
I am preparing folders manually and loading cds to those folders and then planning to start the installation will it work??

NLS oraAppDB oraApps oraDB oraNLS oraiAS startCd
Start to put DVD on server and copy related files to related folders, after copy job give 777 permisson to stage11 folder

can any one please explain this.An Oracle Applications DBA is very different from a regular Oracle database administrator and requires specialized skills in business administration and Oracle application server architectures. The Oracle Applications DBA job role is less compartmentalized than a traditional Oracle DBA and the Oracle Applications DBA must also have skills in these areas:
Database Design - Many shops require customized functional extensions and reporting data marts and the Oracle Applications DBA must have outstanding Database design skills.
Oracle Application Server - The Oracle Applications DBA must understand the internals of the Oracle concurrent manager and understand how to monitor and tune Oracle Applications.
Functional Expertise - Many shops requires a business degree and a general understanding of the Oracle Applications module. For example, accountants are widely used to support Oracle eBusiness Suite (Oracle Financials), and accountants with an IT background are easily trained in Oracle Applications DBA support.

Problem in Installation of oracle 11i

Hi,
I'm trying to install oracle 11i apps in windows server. I have done all prerequsite steps before starting intallation.
In front end screen its saying
compled unziping 81 of 114 at (71%)
at one particular point the installation is not proceeding and its not writing any information in logs .
Please let me know anyone has faced smiliar problem and how you rectified it.

Oracle 11i E-Business Suite Installation on Windows fails

All you Oracle 11i gurus out there, please HELP as I am at my wit's end.
I am trying to install Oracle 11i E-Business Suite (downloaded from the edelivery Website) on Windows 2003 Server with dual PIII CPU, 1GB RAM, and 150GB+ disk space.
My Oracle 11i install on Windows has been failing during Step 1 of 5 following the process of unpacking the 114 zipfiles for the 9.2.0 database even though all the diagnostic steps passed.
It appears the install is failing on the following step:
InstantiateFile -d d:\oracle\visdb\9.2.0\appsutil\driver\instconf.drv
I have MKS Toolkit installed on C:\MKS and VC++ installed on C:\MVS\VC98.
I have renamed make.exe to gnumake.exe in the C:\MKS\mksnt folder and copied the linker (link.exe) from C:\MVS\VC98\bin to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
The InstantiateFile step is executing some Java classes. I have also installed the JRE on C:\jre1.5.0_06, although it's doubtful this will impact the install scripts since the scripts are all hardcoded with the included JRE 1.4.2.
Why do Oracle DBAs and users deal with this crap? A software install should not be this difficult.

Thanks to previous responder for tip regarding JDK/JRE anchor strings. I'm not sure if that is a problem. After letting the install process (java.exe) run for over an hour, I finally got past the InstantiateFile step. It looks like the process just takes a long time with no visible progress sometimes. After 5-6 hrs, it looked like the install succeeded (for the most part). There were still some errors in the error logs related to the Concurrent Manager (TNS-12541: TNS:no listener) I believe. If anyone has insight on what this error msg means, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
The other problem I am tackling right now is how to explicitly set the Forms processing mode to HTTP rather than the default socket mode. According to the 11i docs (and Forms Developer 6i docs), you should only have to set "connectMode=HTTP" in the config file, appsweb.cfg, to make this happen. However, when I try bringing up a client form, the form hangs. So, obviously, something is amiss. A related question is whether one can run Forms in only HTTP mode and not HTTPS (and thus avoid having to install SSL). I would greatly appreciate any insight from fellow users.

Oracle 11i Install fails on InstantiateFile ... instconf.drv

I am trying to install Oracle 11i E-Business Suite on a Windows 2K server and keep running into a problem with the install hanging after all the DB files have been unzipped. The step in the adrun9i.cmd script that seems to be hanging is "InstantiateFile -d <path>\instconf.drv
I believe I have all the Oracle specific quirks covered - i.e., MKS Toolkit installed, gnumake in right place, VC++ anchor without spaces, linker (link.exe) copied to system32 folder, etc.
I would appreciate any insight that anyone can provide.
PS: I don't believe resource is the problem - W2K system with 1GB RAM and ~110GB storage for Oracle 11i alone.

You need MS Visual Studio/C++ 6.0 + SP3 or later. .NET version is not supported. See Metalink note 201392.
If you copy the installed Visual Studio installation then the environment variables will still point to the original directory. There is a VCVARS32.BAT file in VC98/Bin which sets the Visual C++ environment for command line usage. It is generated during the Visual Studio installation, so it also contains the original installation directory references.
I think the best practice is to completely remove the failed Oracle installation, reinstall Visual Studio 6.0 to C:\MSVC directory. It is tricky since Visual Studio 6.0 install asks for
"Choose a directory for common files:".
Enter: C:\MSVC\COMMON
Then you enter in rapidwiz the "MSDEV" directory as: C:\MSVC\VC98.
Do not forget to check in the "Register environment variables" during VS6.0 install and also apply Visual Studio 6.0 SP3 or later.
I think there is a link.exe in the MKS toolkit as well. windows/system32 folder is before the MKS bin folder int the PATH environment so that is how it is "solved". I simply deleted link.exe from MKS bin directory. (I use Cygwin instead of MKS software).

In OPM consists of Several Modules viz., OPM Sys Admin/OPM Inventory/Product Development/Production Management/OPM Quality/OPM Costing and MAC
If you want all these modules set ups, I would suggest that if go to metalink and download Documentation for 11.5.10 which is very useful and which gives modules wise all basic set ups and cross modules set ups.
Once you read this....I would be sending you the real time project set up documents so that you can understand better. But initially the better way is use the PDF after downloading.

There are two certifications available for “Oracle 11i Financials Consultant”:
1) Oracle 11i Financials Consultant, Payables
2) Oracle 11i Financials Consultant. Receivables
The two certifications have two common exams:
- Oracle E-Business Fundamentals 1Z0-200
- Oracle General Ledger 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-211
After that, you have to submit the “Hands on Course Requirement From” and set for one (or both) of the following exams:
- Oracle Payables 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-212 --> You will become “Oracle 11i Financials Consultant, Payables” certified.
- Oracle Receivables 11i Fundamentals 1Z0-213 --> You will become “Oracle 11i Financials Certified Professional Consultant, Receivables” certified.
There is no standard answer for how long it takes to prepare for the exams, having hands on experience would be really helpful in clearing those exams in a short time frame. For the demand, it all differs from employer to employer; some employers prefer having hands-on-experience while others prefer to see certification logo(s) on your Resume before considering you for the job.
If I were you, I would start having my own 11i instance, and with the help of Oracle E-Business Suite documentation I would start my first functional setup. Oracle provides Vision demo database which comes with seeded data, it should be helpful in understanding how the setup goes.

Accounts Receivable Reconciliation - Oracle 11i

I am sorry this is long but I am trying to be detailed!
I am trying to help one of my users reconcile AR for Banking purposes. Oracle offers a very nice way to do this with the AR Reconciliation Report (ARXRECON.rdf). The problem we have is that we need to differentiate from Domestic and Export customers as the bank considers Export transactions as “High risk” and will not allow those transactions to be considered as a factor in our ability to borrow.
This report does not do this. The report is based off of built in procedures and thus I can’t/don’t know how to modify. The solution I have devised is to reproduce the report using queries as Oracle as detailed how the report works (below). The first step is to come up with the exact numbers Oracle details in the report and then once I have the SQL to do that I can make modifications to only pick up Domestic or Export customers.

I have had no issues in writing SQL statements for the Items which make up the period activity. However I cannot seem to get the “Beginning” / “Ending” Balances.
The documentation details the following on how they derive the beginning and ending balances is here:

To get the beginning and ending balances the report uses the same procedure. The As of Date for the Beginning period is GL Date Low-1 where as the As Of date for the Ending balance is GL Date High.
The report selects all transactions from AR_PAYMENTS_SCHEDULES_ALL table which are not receipts and have a GL Date equal to or less than the As Of date, AND a GL Date Closed which is greater than the As Of date.
For all records returned which are not credit memos, the report calculates and sums up all the receipt and credit memo applications which have a GL date of greater than the As Of date from the AR_RECEIVABLE_APPLICATIONS_ALL table. This total is termed as Accounted_Amount_Applied_To.

Any approved adjustments tied to these transactions are also calculated
and summed up that have a GL date of greater than the As Of date.
The report also sums up the Accounted Amount Due Remaining for all

The final value the report calculates to get the Beginning/Ending Balance is the sum of all Unapplied, On-Account and Unidentified Receipts which were closed after the As Of date.
The Beginning and Ending balance is calculated using the following
equation:
Beginning/Ending Amount = Sum of all Accounted Amount Due Remaining
+ sum of Accounted_Amount_Applied_To
- sum of Accounted_Amount_Applied_From
- sum of all approved adjustements
+ ( - sum of all unapplied receipts)

I am a novice when it comes to understanding the database structure of Oracle 11i and the above details are a little spotty on where and what fields are being summed up. So far I have written these (again note that I am trying to tie to the report…adding the functionality to select Domestic verses Export will come later and is not an issue) SQL statements which should give me an individual number for each part for which I can do calculations with to get the actual balance:

I am not sure how to calculate the “approved adjustments” or what they consider “unapplied receipts” can someone please help me? Also if you believe my above queries aren't pulling the correct totals please elaborate on that as well.
