Puppet Warp Question

How can I reposition a pin without removing it first?

I used Puppet Warp on a rope and I get a little bit of "tail".
If I remove the pin, then the warp resets into a straight rope because I have only 2 pins.
Is there a way to move just the pin a little bit?

  • Keyframe using the puppet warp tool in photoshop CS6?

Is there any extension or way that will allow me to keyframe using the puppet warp tool in photoshop CS6?
I'm doing 2d animation, and I need to draw lines that I can immediately animate using puppet warp (you can't draw in after effects).

I am removing a dust spot from video clips taken during an aerial shoot. I have discovered that the only effective way to remove these spots effectively is to use PS6 and go frame by frame using the paint brush, clone stamp, and spot healing brush. It is very time consuming and mind numbing but the only thing that works with all tha movement of the aircraft and the ground below.
    My question:
Right now to advance the clip one frame at a time - I must magnify the time line so to see the frame by frame lables. To advance to the next frame I must remove my cursor from the work area and go down to the time line and click on the next frame.
How can I advance to the next frame with a keyboard stroke and not move my cursor out of the work area?
Thank you in advance for any help.
    Tony

  • Can one save Puppet Warp settings as a preset?? in Photoshop CC 2014

Can one save Puppet Warp settings as a preset?? in Photoshop CC 2014

I have the same question too. I always have to change the density of pins to 'more' and increase the expansion.

  • Puppet Warp-style effect for animations?

    Hi everyone,
I am new to After Effects, and I want to use it to make animations that I can later on play back in an interactive way.
What I basically want, is to project an animation onto a physical shape with a beamer. This shape will have a certain profile and relief, so a "flat" animation will look pretty weird (it is not a flat surface). I want the animation to look smooth and consistent, so I quess I should morph the pixels of the animation. (fore-shortened parts for slanted surfaces)
I know there are (non-animating) effects in Photoshop like transform, Puppet Warp and alike. But I would like to apply this transformation to the entire animation, instead of a single frame/image.
My question is: is it possible to morph an entire animation in a Puppet Warp-ish way?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Jeroen

Okay, thanks! Should have tried out some effects before I posted the question here. Apologies. Warping an entire animation is rather easy: I just make an animated gif that would look good on a flat surface, and then I apply a mesh warp or some effect like that to the layer on the timeline. In this case, I warp without adding keyframes, so the animation is warped in the same way throughout the animation.
Lesson learned: first dive into the software, THEN look for relevant questions and ask one..

  • Inexplicable behavior by Puppet Warp crashes Photoshop

I am running Photoshop CC 2014.1.0 (release 20140730.r,148 x64) on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version, 13.152.0.0. Yes I did. I always have my drivers up to date & in the right way. Even Audition cc seems to crash at startup on the 2014 edition. Also noticed that that as I started working with flash the preview lags a lot and the cursor lags too.
    Pretty disappointing.

  • Click-and-drag to select multiple points in puppet warp

    Hello Community,
Puppet Warp is a great tool. But sometimes I want to isolate an area and only rework that spot, while keeping everything else in place. To do this I have to go around clicking everything to pin it down. I'm wondering if there's a way to automatically pin all possible points, or click-and-drag to create pins at all intersecting points of the web.
Or something like that to easily pin everything down.
    Cheers,
    Emmy

Well, I normally find the solution here if there is one, so it looks like there is none.
Adobe peeps, can you please take note of my comment? It would really be nice if that was possible.
    Cheers,
    Emmy

  • Why can't I rotate multiple points in puppet warp at the same time?

You can rotate single points in puppet warp, and you can shift+click to select multiple points and move them at the same time but I see no way to rotate multiple points as one group using puppet warp.  This would be a very helpful feature I think should be added.

  • Severe Puppet Warp bug

I have been having this issue with certain uses of Puppet Warp and I'm not sure if it's how I'm using, the settings I have for the warp or my computer.
It happens on two different MacBook Pros with 8GB of RAM, on Mac OS X 10.8.4
I will spend about 40 minutes warping a photo converted to a Smart Object so that it looks like it's wrapping around a blanket like so:
This usually works just fine. I can save the file, and edit the photo more as time goes on and nothing is odd... until I save and come back to the file later.
When I open the file and try to edit the photo in the Smart Object, reduce the size of the entire image, or even just double-click on the Puppet Warp filter on the layer panel, it does this:
The pins are way off the board, the image looks like it's split into different parts and the only way to get it back is to Undo any changes. The settings for the Puppet Warp are: Normal, Normal, 2px
The image is 7"x5" at 240dpi.
This doesn't happen with all of my Puppet Warped images, but this one shows this behavior every single time. At one point I went in and recreated the Smart Object and Puppet Warp and it did the exact same thing after I was finished. This happens in both CS6 and the new CC versions of Photoshop.
Has anyone ever seen anything like this and if so, is there a solution?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Ian

Thanks for the suggestions. I couldn't come up with any one method to fix the problem. I tried different documents, building the asset without masks of any kind, smaller resolution etc. It did the exact same thing every single time.
I finally just settled with using the other Warp transform method since I ran out of time for delivery.
I'll keep a lookout for anything that may cause this in the future, but it sure is frustrating.
    Thanks again!

  • Puppet Warp - ignore unlinked layer mask

When I am using puppet warp to transform a layer with an unlinked layer mask, the layer mask does not remain in place, it is being warped along with the layer I am working on. This seems to be a bug since the normal transform tools allow the layers to be modified without affecting the mask while it is unlinked.
Grouping the layer by itself and putting the layer mask on the group while I'm using puppet warp to transform the layer works fine and is really not that inconvenient I suppose.
The image I am working on is a large scan of an old map with 12 pages, I'm basically trying to line up all the pages into a seamless image, and so each layer has a mask to hide the margins of each page. I really don't want to have to create a group for each layer just to have each mask stay in place while I'm adjusting the pages. I also do not want to "erase" the margins by applying the layer masks before using puppet warp.
Is this something that will be "fixed" in Photoshop?

I think Puppet Warp is intended to include transparency in the form of Layer Masks, so it seems unlikely that this behaviour will be changed.
You could temporarily turn off the Layer Masks by shift-clicking them.

  • Getting better results with the Puppet Warp tool?

In CC 2014, I'm not getting realistic looking results when using the Puppet Warp tool.
    1. Is it better to place more pins or fewer ones?
    2. Is this tool designed to make very subtle changes to an image or is it realistic to expect big changes to the composition of an image with it?
    Thanks.

You are not wrong.  Puppet Warp is a bit like Refine Edge in that it is not as intuitive as some of the tutorials would have us believe.  I still struggle with it.  All I can suggest is picking the best tutorials by going to Adobe TV
    http://tv.adobe.com/videos/puppet-warp/
If it is going wrong, rather than trying to make the most of a bad job, start again with better pin placement.  If you still end up with what looks more like a boneless string puppet than a real person, use tools like Liquify to put things right. Run a work path around the perfect outline, and use that to make a selection from which to use the clone tool to fix inside the mask, and a layer mask to fix pixels that have strayed outside the ideal profile.
Lots of PW pins are good for anchoring the bits you don't want to move, but less pins are better for the bits you do want to move.  Look at photographs that approximate your intended new shape, and use them to work out how the rest of the body (if that's what you are warping) would interact/react with your new shape.  Or just mime the action yourself, and see where your other limbs, and the rest of your body should look.
