Purcahsing an I-phone outside of the US

Am I able to purchase this phone for use outside the US and link up to an existing network? Eg New Zealand, vodafone network and purchase phone from your online store.

The iPhone sold in the U.S. as carrier locked with at&t only, in the UK as carrier locked with O2, in Germany as carrier locked with T-Mobile, and in France as carrier locked with Orange, and Apple also sells an authorized unlocked iPhone version in France (due to French law), but at a significantly higher price than the carrier locked version. There is a country or two I'm leaving out, but this gives you the idea.
The only way you can use an iPhone in New Zealand at the present time (unless you purchase the authorized unlocked version in France) is unlocking the iPhone via a hack. Doing so is not supported by Apple - so you will get no support here, or direct from Apple, and this also voids the warranty.

  • Buying a phone outside of the verizon store, but getting a verizon plan?

If I were to purchase a phone, outside of the verizon store, would i be able to still sign up for a verizon plan? Would they charge me a fee if it is possible?

If you don't already have an I with Verizon Wireless or you are adding a line to use this phone on then you will be charged an activation fee to open the account or add a line to your existing account.
If you are planning to switch one of your current phones with this new phone, then you won't be charged an upgrade fee since this would be considered a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) scenario.

  • My stolen 5S (T-Mobile) is blacklisted by insurance company, can someone use the phone outside of the United States?

Can someone use it outside of the United States?

Just like wjosten said, Change the Password for your AppleID.
Go to appleid.apple.com and sign in.
Click on Security and Password. It'll ask you two security questions that you orginal answered.
On the next page is where you can change the password, change it.
Now go to icloud.com and sign in, with the new password of course.
Go to Find My iPhone. Click on the iPhone 5s, even if it's off line.
Click on Lost Mode and enter a new 4 digit password. One that they won't be able to guess.
    Now it's a paper weight.

  • I brought second hand iphone4 but i cannot open it because the owner forgot her apple id and password, how can i reformat this without reformating my phone outside?

I brought second hand iphone4 but i cannot open it because the owner forgot her apple id and password, how can i reformat this without reformating my phone outside? what can i do to open this? its till on the set up mode

There is nothing you can do about but ask the seller for your money back.  Without the previous owners applid password, you cannot activate and use that device - there is no way around that.  iOS 7's Activation Lock needs to be disabled by the previous owner in order for you to use it - if they cannot (or willnot) produce the password to disable it, you have no options.
They can disable it remotely for you - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5661 but not if they do not remember their own password.

  • Calling skype to a mobile phone outside the origin...

I have a portuguese phone and I am abroad - in Andorra.
If someone calls me from skype, which rate will be applied? From Portugal to Andorra, or From Portugal to Portugal?
And what about my Mobile Phone, will I have to support roaming costs?
    Thank you.

Calling skype to a mobile phone outside the original country

your partner's mobile is registered in the UK
calls forwarded from Skype to that UK number are covered (as you know)
as is, forwarded calls would still be going to the UK number, and he would pay roaming charges from his mobile carrier for the priviledge of answering these calls while abroad (iow, has nothing to do with Skype)
if he got a local SIM for his mobile phone while abroad, then Skype could be forwarded to that number for free if he added a Skype subscription that covers SkypeOut calls to the number associated with that local SIM (in your example this would be Unlimited US/Canada sub)
    Regards,
    Neil

  • Will apple still take your iphone if you change the color of the outside if the phone?

Will apple still take your iphone if you change the color of the outside if the phone?

There is no other place to get the original screen/parts other than Apple. And Apples does not sell parts.
As soon as a 3rd party opens/changes the phone parts Apple will be able to tell and won't accept a phone that isn't original.
You will need to look at other options or buy a new phone at full price and don't make any changes to it.

It's not clear what you mean. Do you mean you can't place a call to anyone outside of Shangai? That would be an issue with the calling plan you have with your carrier. Contact them. Likewise, if you can not place a call when you are outside your coverage area, that is also a carrier issue. If you are trying to use a different carrier while travelling, it's possible your phone is carrier locked and you can not use the carrier you are trying to use.

  • How should use unlocked phone outside the country

hi, my name is Allen. I live in U.S. I'm currently using a contract-free 5S purchased form Virgin Mobile. I found out this phone can not be used outside the country (went to China Last year), Phone company stuff in China told me my 5S is not unlocked, so i cant use it. And about couple days ago, my friend told me Apple have these new Sim- free Unlocked Phone, which can be used outside the country and also is Contract-free. I would like to know if I bought this Sim free Unlocked iphone6, when I travel to different country , can I use it with the sim card outside the coutry? and if I put my virgin mobile sim card into the new phone, is it still working?

It will work outside the US. You cannot use the SIM from your Virgin Mobile phone. Once outside of the US you will need to find a cellular provider that supports the iPhone.
The Apple unlocked phone is initially with T-Mobile. Their service is available in many other countries outside of the US, so you may want to ask about that before spending money on another phone.

  • Can I get my Note 3 Replaced with a newer build or switch to a different phone and pay the difference?

First off, let me say, I really love my Galaxy Note 3 -- it is an awesome Smartphone...  Unfortunately, I am one of the users of the problematic Note 3s...  I got the phone and it worked great for about the first week I had it (I got it outside of the area where I live)...  then  I got it home... I usually have a good 4G signal at home -- inside and out.
My office is literally just on the other side of my college campus (less than a mile away)...  I go from a good 4G signal to no signal in my office, with the exception of about a  1 foot square section on my desk where I can get 1x, and occasionally 4G.  I worked with the support team on Twitter and was sent a new SIM card, and that seemed to help unfil a few weeks ago.
Every other Verizon 4G phoen I have seen at my office almost always has at least 2 bars of 4G... If not 4G, then it will have a perfect 3G signal.  (To compare, I upgraded from the iPhone 4, which never had a problem getting a 3G signal anywhere)...  I would expect the Note 3 would at least keep some kind of a signal in an area where everybody's 3G signal is nearly perfect....   At the local walmart, I can barely get a signal outside, and you can forget it inside...  (Ironically, there's a verizon store at this shopping center as well... when I walk in the verizon store, my phone magically switches back to a decent 4G signal...)
Ideally, I'd take new Note 3 that doesn't have this problem, or I could upgrade to the Note 3 Developers Edition that also doesn't have this issue.  I really love the Note 3 and would prefer to stay with the Note 3...
How can I work with you guys to make this happen?
    Thanks!

    Hey Lyndsey & Ada,
I appreciate yawl following up with me -- this is the first time I have actually been able to get signed into my community account in a while.
I did managed to get some help out of the Twitter support team and they sent me another phone.  My second phone (the one I just received a couple of weeks ago now) definitely worked better for a few days and then went bad again.  I am beginning to wonder if the PRL needs to be updated...  Unfortunately, I do not remember what the original PRL was when I first turned the phone on.  But I know that it is on 15296 now.
I am back to having to leave my phone sitting in one particular spot in my office where it has any kind of signal.  I go back to my original question -- since I have had so many problem with this phone, can I upgrade to the Note 3 Developers Edition and just pay the difference?
    Thanks!

  • DirectNIC's customers outside of the U.S. are unable to connect to their email accounts using their blackberries

I work for directNIC.com and our customers who are located in foreign countries are unable to send/receive email on their blackberry devices.  The problem started at the beginning of this month and we can not figure out what the problem is.  Our U.S. blackberry customers are not having any problems.  Our non-U.S. customers have reported errors such as needing to revalidate the account and when they tried to they received an invalid domain or invalid username/password message.  Some customers said the email just quit working and they received an unable to connect error message.  I've had one customer provide me with a link to their wireless provider's blackberry email account setup and I am unable to setup their email account there or any email account that uses any of our servers.  All of our customer's email accounts work in their email clients on their computers, their other phones, and through their webmail it is only their blackberries.  We've white listed all of blackberry's IP addresses and we've checked the server logs to see if there were any connection attempts when I tried to setup the email accounts through the customer's online blackberry interface and there wasn't even an attempt to connect to the server.  The error message that I receive is as follows:
    Email address domain not found:
The email address domain 'insert domain name here' cannot be found. Please verify this
information is correct. If the error persists contact 'insert domain name here' (your
    email provider)
The problem isn't with just one wireless provider it's with multiple providers in multiple countries but the U.S. customers aren't reporting any problems.  I am able to setup my personal email account through his blackberry site, an email account from my work through his blackberry site, my yahoo.com email address, and my hotmail.com email address.  The only email accounts that do not work are the email accounts that are on any of our servers.   Some of these servers have different server configuration but all of them have all of blackberry's IP addresses whitelisted.  Our premium hostng email servers have the same software installed on them as my work email server does and my work email account works fine when I try to set it up through blackberry but none of the premium hosting email accounts that I tried to setup through this customers interface will work.  The problem is only with blackberry devices and is only with customers outside of the U.S.  If anyone has any thoughts or ideas please let us know.
    Thanks,
    Priscilla

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Sorry for the delay replying...while your post is a bit old now, it still deserves a response.
First -- these forums are not a formal channel for support from RIM. Rather, they are user-to-user support forums where users help other users. As such, it is unlikely that RIM will see and respond to your inquiry.
What I suggest is that you have your affected users exercise their formal support channel -- which is available via their carrier. The carriers have the ability to escalate cases into RIM for resolution.

I changed my data plan from 6g to 8g while my daughter who attends college outside of the US at Toronto Canada (and we have on a international calling and international data plan) was on spring break at her grandparents house here in the US. I made the change online since I had been waiting on the phone for over 10 minutes for a customer service rep to come available. Well when I made the change online since that seems to be the thing that Verizon wants it's customers to do and I didn't see all the different plans available and just did the upgrade to 8g. Next bill had over $900 in roaming charges on her phone line. I called the 1-800 number and waiting for a service rep and after 20 minutes of waiting and being put on hold was told it was the customers mistake and there was nothing they could do.Thanks for nothing. I called back after thinking about it and wondered why changing a data plan for the phones in the US would change a international call plan. Waiting over 10 minutes again between waiting for a service rep and hold for one to answer the call. Gave her all the information about it and she said she would call back. Well, 4 days later over the weekend she had nevered called back. So on the phone again for the third time and after 20 plus minutes again was told that when I did it online I click the plan that didn't include international call only the data plan. Explained that I never saw the difference in the plan packages so put on hold again and was told that they could credit $100 to my bill. Wow, thanks alot !!! We have been Verizon customers for probably atleast 12 years and this is how you treat your long term customers?

  • Has anyone ever had a problem with your iphone working outside your home but not inside. The internet works fine in and outside of the house

Has anyone had problems with your iphone working outside of the house, but not inside? Cannot make or receive calls, nor can I send or receive any text messages. This is something that just happened out of nowhere. Can I get some help please?

Did you used to have service and now suddenly you don't?
This happened to me a few years back, and several other iPhone users in my neighborhood, and after a while on the phone with AT&T they figured out that a technician had recently adjusted the receiver/sender on the tower and it was slightly off. They sent them back up and I actually had a better signal after than I did before it went out.
I would call AT&T and explain the issue you are having and see if they can fix it.
If you never had service there then like wjosten said it's probably just a bad zone.
Hope you get it sussed out.
