Purchase of Iphone 6 in US for use in Ireland

Hey I live in Ireland but will be in America next week and want to buy the iphone 6 unlocked and contract free. Will the phone work as normal in Ireland or will there be issues? I am currently on the Vodafone network in Ireland. Thanks for your help.

an unlocked and contract free phone from the US should work in Ireland - right now the only unlocked and contract free iPhone Apple is selling is the Tmobile version - LTE support will depend on whether the LTE frequencies used in Ireland are supported on the US Tmobile phone
you have to buy the phone from an Apple store (or Apple online - but i dont think you can do that unless you have a US address they can send it to and probably a US credit card) - if you buy the unlocked Tmobile phone from Tmobile or som other store it will be locked to Tmobile for 40 days
One important thing to be aware of is the iPhone warranty is not international - its only valid in the country the iPhone was purchased in ( the EU is considered 1 country for warranty purposes) - so if you needed to get the phone repaired or replaced you would have to take it (or send it to someone) back to the US - also Apple will only send the repaired phone back to an address in the country from which the phone was purchasd

You can't do anything. You have encountered the activation lock. Unless you have some sort of contact with the previous owner you have bought a very expensive paper weight.
You can find out more about activation lock from Apple's site here: Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support

Your wireless provider should be able to do that at one
    of their retail locations.
If not, you need to get the information from the blackberry to the
appropriate program in your computer (for example Outlook on
a PC, Contact on a Mac) and then when you connect your iPhone
to that computer and open iTunes, you will be given a choice to
sync that data from the computer to your iPhone.
If you can get the information from your blackberry to google contacts,
you can sync to iPhone from there.

It was all said in the 2nd post. Buy it from the apple store. lol. Dont need to get into a long discussion about it guys
Yet in the 3rd post the OP asked a question not covered by the 2nd post and discussed in subsequent posts...  Maybe instead of overlooking the details of the conversation and posting unsolicited "advice" to the rest of us, you should post something useful to the OP.

  • Purchase iPhone in Australia for use in UK?

    Hello,
Im currently living in Australia for a year (studying abroad) and my old iPhone 4 is on it's last legs. I am looking to buy a new iphone (maybe the new model ) whilst out here. I will buy it unlocked from Apple directly and use a sim only contract whilst out here. When I return to the UK will it work as usual? are they are features that wouldnt work or will it all be fine as it is still using a GsM network and will be unlocked?
    MAny thanks for your help!

As has already been pointed out, yes the phone will work, but due to frequency differences, you may find that you can't get 4G with the UK networks, but the phone will work okay with 3G and also you will have no warranty cover in the UK for a phone that you have purchased in Australia.
If you are okay with no warranty cover and only a 3G service, then that is okay and the phone will work.
Your best option is to buy yourself a cheap phone for use for the rest of your stay in Australia and then buy yourself a new iPhone once you return to the UK if this is the main place that you intend to use it.

  • T-Mobile (US) iPhone 6 Plus for Use in Spain

    Hello,
I am thinking about buying a T-Mobile iPhone 6 Plus from the US to eventually unlock and use in Spain (on Movistar). Does anyone know if this version of the phone will be able to access 4G in Spain? I know that 3G won't be a problem (I have an unlocked iPhone 5 bought from the Apple Store in the US that accesses up to 3G here in Spain, but cannot access 4G - and yes, I know for a fact that there is 4G as my Android accesses it no problem), but what about 4G?
I've looked at the LTE specs page, but I'm a bit confused as almost all the same bands are listed for the two devices (the one for T-Mobile US and the one for Movistar Spain)
    Thanks a lot!

    He is correct
Ironically the Sprint or US Cellular version will work - BUT I doubt that you can get that version unlocked - on the other hand if you want to use it in Spain I would consider buying the A 1524 / A 1526 model

  • IPhone control adapter for use with existing control adapter

There are many adapters that work to give standard headphones control over the iPhone by adding a mic, 'centre click' button and volume controls.
I have tried two of them today (iLuv and Phillips), and while they both worked nicely, using them with my standard 3GS earbuds disabled the stock microphone and controls.
I basically need a way to separate the control button(s) and the microphone so I can operate the phone from my motorcycle helmet - putting the stock microphone in the helmet (which works well by the way), but still having a way to answer calls.

I don't know if I saw this correctly or not, but is there an adapter I can get to hook up the newer cinema display to my power mac machine?
    No.
I thought I saw a mini port to DVI or VGA adapter?
That's to connect a DVI or VGA display to a Mini DisplayPort equipped computer.

  • Purchasing and iPad 2 unlocked for use around the world on GSM?

I travel all over the world for my job, can I buy an iPad in the USA, that is unlocked to use on GSM around the world?  Or should I buy an iPad outside the USA to be able to use it both in the USA and internationally on GSM?
    Thank you,

The AT&T version in the US is GSM/sim based and unlocked - you'll just need to get micro-sims from wherever you go.

  • Can I buy just the prong part of my U.S. power source for use in Ireland?

I have a MacBook which I am taking to Ireland next month.   I see that my power source comes apart, so that the prongs can be interchanged.   Where can I buy a 3-pronged piece that I can substitute my 2-prong piece?   I live in the U.S.  This will save be dealing with converter plugs etc.  One less thing to bring with me, or much smaller, I should say.
    Thank you.

ahhh, the pins... In my dictionary "prong" means "fork", and I would never use yor "prong" as a fork...

Take both phones to your wireless provider and ask them to do the transfer.

computer and then use iTunes on that computer to sync the information to
    your new iPhone 4s.

  • Licensing fonts for use in publishing books.

    Hello everyone,
I was reading the forums here and I see a lot of questions concerning licensing of fonts with some very competent people replying. I'm hoping that someone can clarify my position regarding font licensing.
I'm a new small publisher in the UK, and intend to make print on demand books via Lightning Source. I hadn't quite appreciated the scope of font licensing and want to make sure I get it right.
I need to purchase or license a font for use in the books I'll be publishing. The font will only be used on my computer for typesetting. The font will then be embedded in a non-editable PDF to go to Lightning Source, who only use the file to print physical copies of the book.
I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them. I only make this clear because some licenses seem to differ if you're commercially selling an electronic file with the font embedded. The only file that will have it embedded is the PDF which is itself not sold, only used for printing.
I did read somewhere in these forums that all Adobe fonts are licensed for this.
If someone could please put my mind at rest as to what I need to buy I would be very grateful.
    Many thanks!

    Typescript,
I will also be doing eBooks but these will NOT have any fonts embedded in them.
Does this mean that the viewers will see their own (standard) fonts in the eBooks?

  • Additional licenses reuired for using Sql Tuning Advisor In SQL Developer 4.0.3

    Hi,
We have Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0. Do we need to purchase an additional oracle license for using SQL Tuning Advisor Option in SQL Developer 4.0.3

We have Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0. Do we need to purchase an additional oracle license for using SQL Tuning Advisor Option in SQL Developer 4.0.3
The Oracle Tuning Pack is DATABASE functionality - it is part of the database. Sql Developer just uses it.
Yes - to use ANY of the features of the tuning pack requires an extra cost license.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/license.111/b28287/options.htm#CIHFIHFG
    Oracle Tuning Pack
The Oracle Tuning Pack provides database administrators with expert performance management for the Oracle environment, including SQL tuning and storage optimizations. The Oracle Diagnostic Pack is a prerequisite product to the Oracle Tuning Pack. Therefore, to use the Tuning Pack, you must also have a Diagnostic Pack.
The Tuning Pack includes the following features:
      SQL Access Advisor
      SQL Tuning Advisor
      Automatic SQL Tuning
      SQL Tuning Sets
      SQL Monitoring
      Reorganize objects
In order to use the features listed above, you must purchase licenses for the Tuning Pack, with one exception: SQL Tuning Sets can be used if you have licensed either the Tuning Pack or Oracle Real Application Testing. A new initialization parameter, CONTROL_MANAGEMENT_PACK_ACCESS, is introduced to control access to the Diagnostic Pack and Tuning Pack in the database server. This parameter can be set to one of three values:
DIAGNOSTIC+TUNING: Diagnostic Pack and Tuning Pack functionally is enabled in the database server.
DIAGNOSTIC: Only Diagnostic Pack functionality is enabled in the server.
NONE: Diagnostic Pack and Tuning pack functionally is disabled in the database server.
The Tuning Pack functionality can be accessed by the Enterprise Manager links as well as through the database server command-line APIs. The use of either interface requires licensing of the Tuning Pack

  • External Touch Screen for use with x220 running Tablet PC for XP

I've been tasked to purchase an external touch monitor for use the the x220 running Tablet PC for XP but the monitor specs typically show "Windows Vista/Win7" supported. Will any touch monitor correctly work with this OS? Any recommendations?

    Hello,
I would imagine you would need to find a touch-enabled screen that has device drivers for Microsoft Windows XP available for it.
