Purchase order vs planned order vs process order vs production order

Hi,
Kinldy explain difference between the  Purchase order,  planned order,  process order and production order?
Thanks & Regards
Ravi kumar

Hi Ravi,
In simple terms:
planned order - A procurement proposal generated by the system to meet a need, this can then be converted to a production / process order (for internal procurement) or into a purchase reqn & in-turn to Purchase order (for external procurement)
Purchase order - A firmed procurement proposal which is sent to your vendor (external procurement) to supply the items as per your order
process order - A firmed procurment proposal which is used for in-house procurement, this is used in process industries eg: chemicals, oil & gas etc
production order - A firmed procurment proposal which is used for in-house procurement, this is used in discrete production industries
Based on the above am quite sure you should be able to figure out the differenced. If any doubts revert.

Vivek

  • Regarding Costing in External processing operation in production Order

    Hi Everybody,
We are trying to do sub contracting through external processing operation in production order. In brief, we are creating a production order which contains just one operation and when the prod.order gets released, it creates a purchase req through external processing operation. Pur.Req is being converted to Pur.Order with all the Raw's which we are going to send to Sub Contractor..
The costing issues we are facing are
    1. First we receive GR against Pur.Order, once its done, the Raw's which we sent to Sub.Contractor will be backflushed.. but we dont receive the Finihsed part until we confirm the production order.... there is a Gap between this two processes.. so how can we make sure that there wont be any differences in terms of FI..
    2. Second issue is, some times even if we ordered 10 pcs, subcontractor can only send 5pcs and 5 pcs afterwards.. but every month end FI dept tries to close the books, so how can we deal with this issue if i receive 5 pcs in this month and remaining 5 in the next month...
If any body dealth with this kind of situation.. your hints will be really valuable,
    Adavnce thanks

    Dear Srikanth,
    Please note the following:
    1.       - a) Issue your raw materials through T.Code. - MB1B, Mvt. Type - 541. This will transfer materials from your stock to vendor stock (provided you have initiated vendor material provision and activated 541 mvt. type for PP)
        b) After you receive the material back from vendor, run the T.Code MB01, which will cause Mvt. Types 543 and 101. Now the material has come back to your Production order, but not in Storage location stock.
       c) Then carry on normal CO11N and MB31 for your production order.
Hope this will solve your problem.
Revert back if you still have any question.

  • In process Quality for Production orders

    Hi Guys,
I am facing issues while doing an in process quality for production order. The usage is In process quality,
can anyone help me to carry out a flow for this usage type.
What are the necessary settings to be done and also explain the workflow for this inspection type.
    Thanks,
    Krishna

    Hi,
For in process quality you have to activate "03" type quality in the QM view for the material.
After creation of the order you have to generate inspection lot and based on the inspection lot you have to do result recording.
After that you will do the GR followed by usage decision of the inspation lot.
Hope this will help. Please elaborate the details for further clarification.

  • Specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO

    Hello,
Is there any specific process code for Production order message type LOIPRO.
    Request you to reply.
    Thanks
    Prashanth

    Hi Prashanth,
sorry for last thread ... that not contain full information ...
For message type LOIPRO you can use process code APLI.
In IDOC PARTNER definition, the partner is linked with an IDOC TYPE and PROCESS CODE for inbound processing. This process code is in turn linked with a FUNCTION MODULE to process the IDoc such as IDOC_INPUT_INVOIC_MRM (Reff..  http://searchsap.techtarget.com/expert/KnowledgebaseAnswer/0,289625,sid21_cid519558,00.html)

  • Process to split production order based on the raw material batches

Hi All, below is a business situation which needs some some SAP process to help overcoming this issue.
We are working on process industry, where the core fabric (SFG) are produced from different machines and which are used as raw material in the subsequent process (Coating).  Business wants SAP to generate individual planned orders for Coating when it uses this materials
    e.g
    Current situation.
SFG1  is the component of SFG2
SFG2 is  the component of FG.
When the demand for FG is 100, you get 2 planned orders  SFG1- 100 yd and  SFG2- 100 yds
During production, the Planned order for SFG1 is split for 2 production order  each producing 50 yds each.
    Now I have SFG1 - 50 yds ( Batch A001), and SFG1- 50 yds ( Batch A002).
Now Business wants  SAP to automatically propose 2 order for SFG2, However based on MRP it will  only show 1 planned order of 100 yds required for SFG2 since the demand of FG is 100.
We want to split the planned orders of the higher level to look at lower level stock.
    Any ideas or thought process.
    Regards
    Sarvan

    Sarvan,
You can have MRP propose two lots of SFG2 based upon lot sizing.  For instance, if you always will want SFG2 to have orders of 50 each, then one way to achieve this would be to set the 'maximum lot size' to 50.  MRP1 Tab of the material master.
There are other lotsizing methodologies that may be better suited to your business requirements as well.

  • Planned material price in case of production order for sales order (MTO)

    Hi,
In case of production orders created for sales order, the planned price for a component (BOM) material gets picked as per following:-
    1. If there is no entry in EBEW for the component (that is, there is no previous GR for the component) for that sales order, then plan price is picked up on the basis of planned costing variant.
    2. In case there is an entry for the component in EBEW (there has been a previous GR for the component with reference to the sale order) then the plan price for the component is taken from the EBEW table (first GR price) and system ignores the costing variant.
The above is as per my observation. Please validate if this is correct or not.
The requirement is that even if there has been a previous GR for the component (there is an existing entry in EBEW) the system should take the plan price on the basis of costing variant and not from the EBEW table.
How can this be achieved? Is there a user exit that can force the system to read the costing variant before looking into the EBEW table?
    BR
    Abhi

    Hi Ajay,
Yes i had considered it but I'm not sure If it will help.
Because the main problem here is that system is ignoring the costing variant itself and instead picking the price from EBEW table. So changing the costing variant (validation variant) may not help.
Moreover i don't want to valuate with my own strategy. I want the plan price to be equal to standard price of material from material master. Basically MBEW instead of EBEW.
    Any clues?

  • Post to SL In-process insp. for production order

    Dear All,
Please advise me how i can post defect (Scrap) into storage location during the In-process insp.
As you know during the inspection you find defect quantity during production operation , some of this can be defect for raw material and some for semifinished material
Please let me know how i can post to storage location ?
    Regards
    Rami

    Hi,
Please note that i need to do this through Quality inspection lot, like the others inspection lot 01, 04
This SL can be under Quality Control people and he can transfer the inspected quantity after that
note also i can't transfer any quantity to any SL as i'm not Inventory clerk who responsible for this SL

  • Production Order and Internal Order for each item of the sales order

    Hi
I am developing Make To Order Report where I have to display the MTO Line Items and non MTO Line Items. For non MTO Line Items I have to display Internal order with Planned and Actual Costs and also Production Order with Planned and Actual Costs. Could anybody tell how to get the Internal order no and production order with Planned and Actual costs for each line item for a sales order.
    Thanks
    Naga

    Hi,
You can get the Production orders, Planned orders, Internal orders generated for Sales order item from AFPO table (use fields KDAUF-Sales order number & KDPOS-Sales order item). Then to identify the order type use order category (AUTYP) from table AUFK.
Once you have the Production/internal order, you can ge the cost from COSS and COSP table. Use the object number from AUFK to get the cost entries from COSS & COSP.
You can use the following sample code as reference.

  • The relationship between production order and purchase requistion After running MPS

    Dear Experts:
I met a issue . My users want to know the relationship between production order and purchase requistion . In my company we create production order and  purchase req. by  running MRP. our operations are:
    1. T-CODE: MD41  create planned order .
    2. T-CODE: CO41 convert planned order to production order .
    3. T-CODE: MD15 convert planned order to purchase Requisition.
but I can't  find the  relation of them. would you like to give me some advices? thank you very much.

    Hello
On the standard MTS process there is no link between the requirement (STO) and the replenishment element (production order).
See the below extraction from note 12955:
There is no index that the system could use to determine which issue element (sales order, planning, reservation, dependent requirement, ...) is covered by a certain receipt element (purchase order, production order, purchase requisition, planned order, stock level ...).
A production order, for example, can be created to cover several different requirements, even when you are using lot sizing procedure EX.
You can use transaction MD09 or MD04to determine the pegged requirements, but they are calculated dynamically and there is not fixed link between requirement and receipt.

  • Date Mismatch of Planned Orders and Production Orders in APO & ECC

    Dear APO Experts
When i am performing /SAPAPO/CCR , we are getting errors for Few Materials
    Please kindly advice.
    Following error for Planned Orders:
    Order 0026037355 difference for receipt date:    06.02.2012 01:05:53(APO) <-> 04.02.2012 01:05:53
    Message no. /SAPAPO/CIF161
    Diagnosis
Order 0026037355 for material yyyy has a different receipt date in SAP APO and SAP R/3:
Receipt date in SAP APO: 06.02.2012 01:05:53
    Receipt date in SAP R/3: 04.02.2012 01:05:53
    Procedure
This data inconsistency can be rectified by choosing Send to R/3.
Note that the receipt date of the primary product is compared without taking into account the goods receipt processing time between SAP APO and SAP R/3.
Note the following if this message is issued for production/process orders:
In SAP APO, if the receipt date of the primary product deviates from the end date of the last activity of the order (for example, due to an offset or scheduling at the end of a fixed block), the receipt date always identifies this as inconsistent. You cannot rectify inconsistencies of this type by using the reconcile provided in the CIF compare/reconcile function.
In this case, you should deactivate the receipt date comparison. Alternatively, you can activate the order end date comparison if the primary product is assigned to the final operation.
    Procedure for System Administration
You can use the business add-in /SAPAPO/CIF_DELTA3 Enhancements Comparison Report to deactivate individual comparisons.
In SAP Note 645597, you can find example coding with which you can activate the order end date comparison.
    Following Error for Production Orders:
    Order 000100163960 difference for receipt date:    14.01.2012 08:30:00(APO) <-> 23.01.2012 18:29:59

    Receipt date in SAP R/3: 23.01.2012 18:29:59

    Hi,
Kindly check the SAP note mentioned on the message. Or you may reconcile the data by selecting the "send to APO" or "send to ECC" button on thhe CCR.
Also please check oss # 453244 if its releveant to your current system, otherwise please disregard.

  • To restrict Issue for production than planned qty in production order

    Hi Experts,
In my scenario, the production staff will prepare production order and right click in production order document and select "Issue Components" option to Issue raw materials for production floor. After issuing the raw materials to production floor closes the "Issue for Production" document and now we have "Production Order" document open in screen. When he again select "Issue Components" option and issues the raw materials once again. Materials are issued once again wrongly. This happens since the production order document is not getting refresh after "Issue for Production" document is done.
Is there any way to restrict issue of raw materials than the planned qty.?
I have tried lot of ways to restrict this through SP. Please revert me an solution to this issue.
The procedure should trigger immediately when the "Issue Components" option is selected second time (If the raw materials are issued in full in first time itself). And it should allow only the qty which is to issued to production order qty (if they issue part issue to production order)
    Thanks in advance
    Raja.S

    Hi Neetu,
Thanks for your quick response. I have tried this query. But it is not blocking the issue for production document even the raw materials are issued already for the production order.
I'll explain my work flow again. The Production staff will prepare production order and then release the same and update the production order after changing  the status for "Release". Then he will right click the Mouse button and select "Issue Components" option and perform the Issue for Production process. He will issue the required raw material completely in one shot and add the Issue for Production document.
After adding the Issue for Production document he will close that document and now we will be in Production order document. Now our production order document will not get refreshed. Now the Production staff go for "Issue components" option, then it should not allow him to issue the components once again. But it is allowing him to issue components any number of times. there is no control.
If we browse the production order document to previous record and browse back to the same record then my Production order document get refreshed and now we can control the issue. But what should i do to control in the earlier case. Since they want to perfrom lot of production order, there is a chance to issue components for same production order more than one time before the production order document get refreshed.
Please provide me the SP to control this scenario.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Change in Sales order deleted all process production order

    Dear All,
We have Make to order scenario for our export sales. When we have receive order we make production with reference of sales order with help of t-code MD50 then convert plan order into production order.
IF sales department do changes in sales order it'll delete all processing production orders So, we have to do revoke all production orders manually.
2 query is that, Is there any way to run MRP (Make-to-order) on all line items of sales order ?
    Please provide solution.
    Thanks,
    Farrukh khan

    Dear Farrukh,
There is not tcode to run sales order for all line items, but if you run MD02 it will plan all sales order & line items also. You can run MD02.

  • Sequencing of Purchase order and Good Issue acc. to Production order date

    Hello ,
We are using Direct procurement scenario ,During MRP run we generate a Plan order(which have dates); which converted into Production order later. For these production order material is needed (components). And for procuring components we need to create purchase order.
Assumption :- Each component have same Procurement lead time
Our requirement is Purchase order and GI in Production order should be done sequentially, means Based on Production order date ,FIFO based Purchase orders are created and GI done in Production order. Production order with earlier production date have purchase orders earlier and we do GI in production order accordingly.
    Kindly suggest

    Hello Dario
Thanks for your reply. Our requirement is to put a check on system that GI for production order should be done FIFO wise
means as MRP generate 3 production order of same material each at different date , we want issance of components to be done on FIFO wise in production order

  • Purchase Requisition & Production Order

    Hi all,
in my system, MRP create automatically Purchase Requisition.
I would like to know if it is possible to connect Purchase Requisition to number of Purchase Order that have generated MRP requirement.
For instance, in Transaction Me57, i have a list of Purchare Requisition that can be converted in Purchase Order (Assign & Process Purchase Requisition).
Can i see in it the Production Order that have generated them???
    Or in another transaction?
The purchasing office have the need to see which Purchase Requisition are from Production order 1 and which for Production order 2.. and so on..
    Thanks  a lot
    Best regards
    Alba

    HI...
    go to COOIs,
Give the plant.. and execute.. In the resulting screen of production order, Go to change layout and include Purchase requisition in the list..
    This will feed your requirement..

  • Error in converting Planned Order to Production Order (Urgent)

    Hi All,
I am facing an error when i am trying to convert a planned order to production order.
    +Error message:
"Assignment order/WBS" is not allowed (WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX)
    Diagnosis:
The current status of object 'WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX' prohibits business transaction 'Assignment order/WBS'.
    Procedure:
To process business transaction 'Assignment order/WBS', you first have to change the status of object 'WBS L.XXXXXX-XXXX' to allow the transaction 'Assignment order/WBS'.+
I have another planned order identical to this one & for that i am not getting this error. So i checked the network for these 2 WBS elements, but could not find anything different in status.
I am unable to figure out what might be causing this error. Hope my problem is clear, await inputs.
    Vivek

    Hi,
I checked the planned order, the assignment exists. I compared the planned order for which i am not facing any issue in converting to work order & the one for which i am facing the error & i see no difference.
So i am not able to trace what might be the reason. Is there anything which can be deciphered from the Diagnosis & Procedure which i have posted in my initial qns?
