Purchase organization - naming convention

Hi,
Is there any best practice for the Purchase organization - naming convention in a global template project?
We have regional purchase organizations and country specific purchase organiozation in global template.
Regards,
AG

Thanks for your reply.
As the country specific purchasing organization will be linked to regional purchasing organization, should the naming convention of country specific purchasing organization, represents the first 2 digits of regional purchasing organization?

  • Inconsistent naming conventions for Adobe Reader in software scan

I just want to see if anyone knows why Adobe's free pdf Reader appears both as "Adobe Reader" AND "Adobe Acrobat Reader". I manage software licenses for an organization of 400+, and it's difficult to know if, for instance Adobe Acrobat - Reader 6.0.2 Update - 6.0.2, should or should not be counted as a purchased license without actually visiting each workstation to verify. I've spoken with our network operations personnel and they confirmed that it is not manually entered by our personnel, but that it is something in the software. ??
Furthermore, why are the naming conventions not consistent even among those that can be identified easily? The list below is what I see when I run a report for all Adobe software on our network.

    Junlie et al,
Starting with Acrobat 9 (announced on 6/2/08), Adobe will support the new ISO/IEC 19770-2 standard for universal software tagging. The new standard will allow customers to correctly identify the name, version, type and licensing status of Adobe software (starting with the Acrobat 9 family and later on as new versions of the products are introduced later this and next year).
I DO understand your frustration with the in consistencies in the naming of our software, but the problem of software discovery goes well beyond our lack of discipline. This is one of the many reasons why Adobe invested time and effort with the industry group defining the new open standard, and in software asset management in general.
More information about tagging standard can be found here: http://www.agnitioadvisors.com/info/content/view/44/1/

  • PS Elements 8 Organizer naming with Shot Date.  Can you help?

I have thousands of photo files using Shot Date format "YYYYMMDD-001.jpg".  The PS Elements 8 Organizer offers renaming by Shot Date "YYYY MM DD_0001.jpg" and the Edit / Process Multiple Files offers manually renaming to "YYYYMMDD001.jpg" but not by reading the Shot Date.  The former format has spaces between the year, month, and date; while the latter does not.  How can I import files using Shot Date and the naming convention "YYYYMMDD-001" etc.?
Also, the Shot Date format of naming does not seem to be available when importing from a file folder, only from a camera or card reader.  How can I import using Shot Date renaming conventions when importing/renaming from a hard drive file folder?
    Thanks.

When using two cameras for a particular shoot and wanting to import and sequence the by date and time the shots from both, it seems, again, that PS Elements does not provide a means to do so.  Windows will simply rank by date and time the photo files.  If then PS would provide a naming convention, the shots would all be sequenced chronologically.
Can you recommend a photo organizer which provides more flexibility?
    Thanks.

  • Question about CEP Naming Conventions and or Standards

    Hello,
CEP is new to the organization that I am working with. I have been asked to draft a few standards around CEP to help promote standardization and proper reuse of CEP artifacts. Can anyone share with me examples of CEP artifacts with a naming convention or their experiences with naming conventions around CEP in general. This is a living standards document for us. We plan on using CEP heavily going forward. Your experiences will help us start off on the right foot.
    Thanks in advance,
    JJE

    Hi,
Oracle CEP supports reuse of components in several ways. For example, you can design your application as a set of modules that can be deployed independently (different teams can develop each module). Modules can register services, such as an event source or event consumer, and these services can be used by other modules. So, it's possible to plug modules developed by different teams of developers together and reuse them in different applications or environments. A component instance registers itself as a service when its advertise attribute is set to true in the Spring application context that defines a module.
A component implementation can also register a factory as a service that allows instances of the component to be created by other modules. Section 13.1.5 in the CEP Developer Guide describes this. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e14301/adapters.htm#CIHBHEDA
    Hope that helps.

    Seth

  • PO Naming Convention for specific company code

    Hi experts!
Is there any way to know this PO naming convention is belongs to which company code?
For eg: PO naming convention starts with 600*******.
How will i know which company code is using the naming convention for their purchase order?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi Crystal,
Naming convention is based on document type not company code :

  • Naming Convention

    Hi there
I'd be interested in hearing from others who use a naming convention for their photo files. I'm planning a major reorganisation of my files & would appreciate hearing from others what's worked for them.
    Thanks
    Stephen

I use a fairly lengthy naming convention that predates my use of PSE's Organizer. Some characters are obviously non-essential. The others let me know what subdirectory holds the image, the date filed, and what the origin was (digital, slide, or negative). It goes like this:
    Character Content
    1 R (as in roll)
    2-4 "roll" sequence number
    5 type - D for digital, S for slide, N for negative
    6 _ (underscore)
    7-10 year
    11-12 month
    13-14 day
    15 _ (underscore)
16-17 or 18 image sequence number
My subdirectories are named using the first 14 characters.
So an image gets a name like R298D_20051213_027.jpg, and if I write the file name on the back of a print, I can quickly locate the file on the hard drive, and the neg/slide in my binders/boxes. The slide/file binders/boxes are marked with the roll sequence numbers. I use a program called "Bulk Rename Utility" to rename the images before letting the PSE organizer see them. This precludes importing to PSE directly from the camera or card reader, but I don't do that for other reasons as well.
The utility may be found at www.bulkrenameutility.co.uk or www.jimwillsher.co.uk.
Hey - it works for me!

  • PI SWC Naming convention

Hello, I've read this SAP [document|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/40a66d0e-fe5e-2c10-8a85-e418b59ab36a] about best practices naming convention and I still don't have a clear idea about how many software components I have to create in 1 scenario.
There are 3 posible ways in the document:
    - 1 SWC with all the ESR objects - Not recommended.
    - 2 SWC one with the receiver objects and the other with the sender objects. But where you keep the mapping objects??? Always in the sender SWC? Always in the Receiver???
    - 3 SWC with receiver, sender and mapping objects respectively. I don't like that solution because I think that the SWC object loses its meaning and you will have all the objects of a simple scenario "spreaded" along the ESR.
Have you an better alternative to help me???
    Best regards,
    Marshal

    Thank you for your answers.
It looks like it's really personal to decide which its the better option to define the SWC. I will think about it...
To Madhusudana Reddy and abhishek salvi: I think that organization way it's very clear but if you do that, the SLD is meaningless, because you are using a SWC as a "business area" not as a software, and I'm not sure about it. Maybe the problem is how the SWC object is used in SAP PI.
To Patrick Koehnen: I think that the 3 SWC approach is too much confusing too, and the 3rd SWC with the mappings it's not really a "software" of our landscape....

  • Naming Conventions - programmer refuses to stick to them... what to do?

A fellow programmer on my team, though good, often refuses to abide by naming conventions, or seem even to be aware that many have existed and use that knowledge accordingly.
Today, for example, he created a class (not an interface) called Createable. I pointed out to him that convention over the years has been that classes ending in '-able' were usually interfaces, or might be suspected to BE interfaces by other programmers looking at his code.
    He said he didn't care.
I then later noticed he had an interface defined in another package called 'Createable'. So he had made two classes of the same name in different packages, one an interface and one not.
Our boss doesn't seem to mind this kind of thing (he just wants us to get the work done and isn't interested in quibbling over things like naming convensions). Perhaps I'm a bit stern about these kinds of things, but it really gets my goat when this happens.
    What's your opinion, Java Community?

Many conventions? As in your team doesn't have a convention but you want them to follow one which is unspecified?
Today, for example, he created a class (not an interface) called Createable. I pointed out to him that convention over the years has been that classes ending in '-able' were usually interfaces, or might be suspected to BE interfaces by other programmers looking at his code.
    English is a limited language.
Is 'Manager' suitable for the name of a class or an interface?
If only the latter then what do I call a class that represents something that "manages"?
    He said he didn't care.
I then later noticed he had an interface defined in another package called 'Createable'. So he had made two classes of the same name in different packages, one an interface and one not.

What's your opinion, Java Community?First it is a management problem.
Second there are proven techniques for producing better code. Coding conventions are not one of those.
Third if an organization is such that it is using other proven techniques, then coding conventions might have some measurable impact on quality, but lacking other techniques (or lacking all techniques) there can be no measurable impact as it would be less than the noise level caused by other correctable items.
Fourth as a point about what measurable techniques are the classes that the developer is creating actually Objects (Object Oriented Objects)? Versus random collections of functionality for example? The latter would be a far more serious problem than naming. And does that developer, and all of the other developers, use inheritence appropriately? Again misuse there would be a far more serious problem.

  • Naming convention of TCodes in SAP.

    Hi All,
Can anybody explain the Naming convention followed by SAP for Tcodes. I am not asking for Customized Tcode conventions but SAP TCodes ... For example : WE30, SE16, BD10.... so What exactly SE* or WE* or BD* means and does it depends on  the functionality?
    Regards,
    Anu.

    Anuradha,
Naming convention for tcodes in SAP is dependent on the area of application and it's functionality which is represented by first two characters. Last two characters are generally are numerals which are logically assigned sequence numbers. For example:
    Eng   =       German
    Sales =  Vertrieb
Order = Auftrag .....VA01 - Sales Order Create, VA02 - Sales Order Change, VA03 - Sales Order Display
Delivery = Lieferung....VL01N - Sales Delivery Create New,  VL02N Sales Delivery Change New, VL03N - Sales Delivery Display New (N in the end generally means NEW, in such case there would be an old transaction without N as well)
Invoice = Faktur ....VF01 - Sales Invoice Create, VF02 - Sales Invoice Change, VF03 - Sales Invoice Display
Generelly numerals 1, 2 & 3 in the end represent Create, Change & Display respectively.
Similarly procurment in German is Erwerbung, hence the tcode ME21/ME22/ME23 - Purchase Order create/change/display where 'M' stands for Materials 'E' stands for Erwerbung in German.
All the transactions follow the same naming convention even for WE30/WE31...BD64/BD87.
    Cheers!

u can check the below the material also
    what is BAPI?
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
I have answered this question before..
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

  • SAP Recomended Naming Convention?

    Hi all,
I've just started picking up XI not too far back. Now having to recently gone into my second XI project, i'm starting to wonder if there's a naming convention recomended by SAP?
if not, can everyone share their ideas/experiences in XI development objects naming scheme?
    many thanks fellow integrators.
    cheers,
    Ryan.

Here the standard <a href="https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700004455192006E/NameConventions.pdf">SAP XI naming convention guide</a>: I suggest to read it with attention because it is helpful to understand the software organization philosophy under XI developments.
Maybe you can need the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/2791db90-0201-0010-dea7-ec869d783f9c">ASAP Methodlogy for XI</a>

  • Purchase info record does not exists in purchase organization 1000

    Hi experts,
I have created a new enterprise structure in SAP. when i am creating a PO its picking the correct info record, but when i am doing GR, its giving the error as 'purchase info record does not exists in purchase organization 1000". I have maintained everything perfect. the only thing i have changed is I have moved the open and close period from 11-2002 to 12-2008 in MMPV.
Please give me some suggestions, where it can go wrong.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Poorna.

    Hi Guys,
Thanks for all yours responses, Actually what deepak said was right, but in my IDES system i am not able to create new entries in assign plant to std purchase org. I found the database view for that, V_001W_E its for table T001W. So i looked into that table i found that std purchase org was given as 1000. i made direct entries in that table, i thought the reason for this may be due to , that i copied plant from 1000. After making entries , i did not got the error message that was i am previously getting.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ravi.

  • Storage Location Naming Convention without WM!

    Dear all
We are facing serious problem in our Storage Location for Raw Material.
We have 4 types of Raw Material Seating (S), Panel (P), Metal (M), Wood (W). And they are all stored under Storage Location: RWSL.
    Requirement:
Although we have visual guideline as to which industrial rack will store the type of Material, it is insufficient. We need a more refined storage location down to which BIN of the rack we will put the Raw Material.
Due to limited time and resource, we cannot have WM implemented right now. Thus, we have come out with 2 alternative to overcome this problem:
    Alternative 01:
We will use the Fixed Bin field in Storage Data 02 by putting the Bin number assigned to each Rack.
E.g. For Seating material code:SEAT01, we will maintain the Fixed Bin as R12A01/A02, it means this Seating material SEAT01 will be stored at Rack 12, fixed bin A01 or A02.
Question to Alternative 01: Will it cause problem in GR, GR, Transfer Posting and Stock Count?
    Alternative 02:
Instead of going into details to put Fixed Bin field in Storage Data 2, we will abandan the existing Storage Location RMSL by introducing new format for Storage Location
Here is the example of Alternative 02:
For raw materials, we will use 4 digits location numbers, consistent with other Storage locations, the 4 digits storage location will start with u201CR _ _ _u201D to represent each location
    And,
    R _ _ _ is:
    R = Raw materials
    2nd digit = Division (S= Seating, P =Panel, W=Wood, M=Metal and W=Wood)
    3rd digit = Rack Number (A, B, C, Du2026 and etc.)
4th digit = Rack Zone - each rack will broken down into zone, each rack can possibility have 2 to 3 zone. 1 Zone can be 1 colume of the Rack
An example of a possible location and its meaning will be
RSA1 = Raw materials warehouse, Seating division, Rack A, Zone 1
RPB3 = Raw materials warehouse, Panel Division, Rack B, Zone 3
The challenge of this is that instead of having 1 Raw Material Storage Location like RMSL, we will have a lot more storage locations each for division of Raw material due to the Rack Number we have as well as the Rack Zone.
    Question to Alternative 02:
If we use this alternative, will it impact our future implementation of WM? From design wise, is it feasible?
Please advise what is the best approach and the feasible design on it.
    Many thanks in advance.

Hi, here is the Pro and Co of both approaches:
Method 01: Use existing SLOC and add the Storage Bin info
    e.g. SLOC: STM1
             Storage Bin: RSC3, where RS = Rack Seating, C3 = column 3
    Pro 01:
It will cause less effort as we only need to use LSMW for material master to add in the Storage Bin data for all material of SCM.
    Pro 02:
I have tested out that in TCode MIGO, apart from SLOC, the pertaining Storage Bin data also appear.  Based on my discuss with Xian Chen, sometimes they use MB1C(GR), MB1A(GI) rather than MIGO due to speed issue, I will need to check the field status if can have Storage Bin field APPEAR, if can, it will solve the problem
    Con 01:
The Storage Bin information will only appear in MMBE (Stock Overview) but will not appear in the standard SAP Inventory Report (e.g. MB52 Warehouse Stock). To view it from SAP Inventory Report, we may need to customize the standard report to show the new field Storage Bin. It needs Abap effort.
    Con 02:
We must have a very good naming convention for Storage Bin. And again, in the above example, if a material is put in SLOC STM1 at Storage Bin RA A1 or C4, it will set a very rigid rule in the future if we need to change it, as I fear that one the Storage Bin has been used up. It will not allow us to change (need to do testing to find out)
    Con 03:
Do we have the time to define all the Storage Bin for each SLOC? Operation wise, the store personnel needs to design it
Method 02: Use the new SLOC
    Pro 01:
RSA1 = Raw materials warehouse, Seating division, Rack A, Zone 1. More organized. Easy to tell the material is at which  Rack and which Zone of the Rack.
    Assumption:
    01. we must not have too many rack for one Seating division and also not too many Zone for each
Division, else it will cause confusion
    02. 1 material should stick to 1 Rack 1 zone as much as possible, else later the PP consultant will
have hard to to perform GI due to too many SLOC assigned to a material.
    Pro 02:
In report wise, we are able to show the SLOC in inventory report. No need to enhance the existing inventory report as we do not use Storage Bin.
    Con 01:
If there are too many SLOC creation due to it. It may cause problem for PP perform GI as too many selection available for a material. This can be avoided if stick to the General Rule that one material is tied with one SLOC.

  • Transfer data from a purchasing organization to another.

    Dear all,
I am currently using two purchasing organizations: A and B. I don't want to use B anymore. There are source lists, purchase info records, suppliers, PRs, POs and maybe other data that are currently related to the purchasing organization B.
What should I do transfer the data to the purchasing organization A?
What would be the consequences of the "migration" of source lists, purchase info records on existing POs, PRs, on invoice verification, PR release strategy, PO release strategy, vendor master data, material master data...etc?
    Thanks a lot
    Olivier

It is like a migration from legacy, only difference is that the source is your own SAP system.
so you need extract the relevant data and do a load exchanging the purchasing org.
vendors can be extended to the new organisation via XD99  copying data from the old organisation.
material master is not purchasing org specific, hence no change needed.
Source list an info records need to be loaded, which can be done with LSMW.
you have to decide yourself what you want do with existing open orders, the vendor would not really understand and probably not even see a difference in the PO form  if you cancel the order for the old organisation and send a new order for the new organisation.
