Purchase shared between 2 ATV devices

Hi there
I have two ATV devices (1x gen.1 & 1xgen3), both connected to itunes  via the same account. My problem is the following:
I purchased a tv show on my mac and downloaded some (but not all) of the episodes. The tv show appears on the ATV3 device and therefore I can watch it on the tv via it. The show can also be shared on the tv via my mac (either via airtunes or home sharing).
However when I use my older ATV on the tv, the show is not there (does NOT appear on the "purchased" list, neither it appears when I check at downloads. Can someone tell me what will happen if I try to purchase the show again? will I be charged or will itunes see that I have already purchased the show and ask me if I want to download it for free?
ok, I know that I can always download the episodes on my laptop and home share them on the ATV1, but can someone answer the above question?
(ps: the reason for using 2 ATV devices is that the old one is installed at my girls house while the new one at mine.)

You may well be warned that you have already purchased the show, however if you go ahead with the purchase you will be charged again.
The only way to share this showl to the Apple TV 1 is to sync or stream it from your iTunes library on your computer.

Can I share e-books between my mobile devices without a home computer?

    Hello Firemanhammer,
It sounds like you are trying to sync your iBooks between your iOS devices, and you can achieve this by signing in with your Apple ID:
If you buy a book on your Mac, it’s automatically available on all of your iOS devices with iOS 6 or later. The same is true if you purchase a book from your iOS device. iOS 7 even prompts you if you already have purchased content. You can even synchronize your bookmarks, notes, and collections across your devices.
iBooks will prompt you to sign in, but you can also sign in at Settings>iTunes & App Store.  A Mac computer is able to sync the iBooks as well, but it's not necessary to sync the iBooks between your iOS devices.
If you don't see all of your purchased items in iBooks, make sure you "Show All Purchases" is turned on:
To see all your purchased books on your iOS device, choose Settings > Books > Show All Purchases.
If you start reading a book on one device, you can pick up right where you left off on another device. Collections, highlights, notes and bookmarks sync across all your devices. Use these settings to synchronize these features:
On your iOS device, open Settings > iBooks. Then, select the options to "Sync Bookmarks" and "Sync Collections".
You can find the full article below.  It includes the steps for a Mac computer, but you can just focus on the iOS instructions:

  • Sharing between my iPhone, my wife's iPhone and her iPad2

My wife and I both have an iPhone and separate itunes accounts.  This Christmas she will be receiving a new iPad2.  We also have an Apple TV2 that we currently have set up with home sharing to my PC.  I am confused as to get all content to be shared between all three devices and further into the Apple TV2.
If the Apple Tv is being shared with my PC and my iPhone, can we also share it with my wife's iPhone and her new iPad2?  If so how do I do that.  If I remember right, we can only set up one shared iten with the apple tv, is this correct?
Basically, if possible, how do I get all 4 items (2 iPhones, 1 Apple TV2 and one iPad2)?  How can this be done if my wife has a different iTiunes account than I?
    Please advise...
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Home Sharing Purchased Applications between 2 Different Ipads

By using the Home Sharing feature I have shared Ipad applications between my Ipad and my wifes's Ipad. The first app was a purchased app and it works fine on both Ipads. However, when I shared other purchased apps they do not load when they are selected on the Ipad. Can someone confirm if you are suppose to be able to share purchased apps and if so why they will not launch when selected on the receiving Ipad?

My wife and I have two ipads and share an itunes account. I beleive that is the "supported" method of doing it. You are purchasing the app, not for use on one device, but on all your devices.
This allows you to upgrade and keep all purchased apps on the next device.
We pick and choose, but can have the same apps across both ipads wihout problems this way.
We have not attempted the Home sharing method as of yet.

  • Home Sharing between 2 Apple ID accounts on separate PCs...can our iOS devices access both?

    Hi All
Hope someone can help.  My wife and I have separate iTunes accounts with separate Apple IDs on separate PCs.
We both have HomeSharing turned on and can access each others music libraries from both PCs which is great.  However when I try to access the home shared libraries from our devices (I have an iPhone 4 and an iPad 2, and my wife has an iPhone 5) when connected to the home network I can only see my own shared library on my devices and my wife can only see her own shared Library from her iPhone 5.
Just for background we are both running the latest iTunes and are on win7 PCs, my iPhone 4 is on iOS7, the iPad 2 and iPhone 5 are currently running iOS6
Is there a way to see each others shared libraries on all our devices when we connect to the home network through wifi?
    Many thanks!
    Chris

    Hello Chris G Shirley,
In order to do this, you would need to switch between the two Apple IDs used on each system in Settings > Music.
On iPhone, go to Settings > Music, then log in to Home Sharing using the same Apple ID and password.

  • I have multiple devices and don't want everything shared between them. How do I fix that?

I have and iphone and three ipods in my home. They are all connected to my apple id and everything ends up being shared between them. Can I make seperate accounts for each of them, but have them all attached to my credit card? Thanks for any help!!!

If you have a Mac (don't know about Windows), you can disable automatic syncing in iTunes > Preferences > Devices:
That way, you can manually do it by plugging in the device and launching iTunes.

  • Can an Apple ID be shared between 2 devices and each be private?

Can an Apple ID be shared between 2 devices and each be private?

Of course. To do it, open iTunes holding the Option (Alt) key, so you will see an option to create a iTunes library. Note that, after doing that, you will have two iTunes libraries in the same account, so you can choose the one you want to start iTunes opening it while holding the Option key

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
iTunes content can be commingled in the iTunes library on a computer and synced to iOS devices. The computer must be authorized to use the content from the respective Apple IDs in the iTunes Store menu.

  • Sharing between devices

How do I turn off sharing between all of my Apple devices? I have two separate cell phone numbers that are receiving texts and phone calls on both devices at the same time. These communications are even coming in to my iPads, as well, which I don't want. All four devices are under one Apple id.
Very confusing when we receive a call and four devices ring. Especially when it's a person we both know.
    Thanks for your help!

    FFigured it out. Thanks!

  • How can I use home sharing between our iphones (create playlists from both accounts at once)

How can I use home sharing between our iphones, so that we can create playlists with songs from both of our libraries?  We share a Macbook Pro (separate accounts) and each have the new iphone, but when I have my iphone and try to create a new playlist, I can only grab songs from one account.  Is there a way to create a playlist using both accounts since we are sharing?
Does it have to be created within iTunes first on our Mac?

The short answer: because Home Sharing isn't designed for sharing apps, and apps aren't designed to be shared.
The longer answer:  Think of it like this...
You download some music in iTunes.  With Home Sharing, another user can listen to it by streaming it over the network.  But the data itself is on your computer.  If you turn off the computer or take it off the network, the other user can't access it.
But if you send another user the app, they aren't just streaming the data- they installed it on their iOS device.  Because they weren't the one that purchased it, such a transfer could easily be considered "piracy" or "stealing," and nobody likes that (least of all, Apple).
When iTunes sees this app, it obviously recognized it, as if saying, "Hey, how did you get this app on your device, if I have no record of you purchasing/downloading it from the iTunes store?"

  • Sharing Apps over multiple devices

    Hi Guys,
At home we have 1 ipad (wifes) and 1 iphone (mine). As of Friday, I will be buying myself an ipad2, and i am a bit unsure about sharing apps over the 3 devices. At the moment my wifes ipad and my iphone both use my apple id to buy apps and things. This is ok, as I do all the purchasing of apps on her ipad etc. When I buy the new ipad, i will be also putting this on my apple id. I believe that in this situation, I can share apps over all 3 devices as they use the same ID. What I want to do is give my wife her own apple id, so that she can buy apps from her own account and not bleed my bank account dry . If I do this, will I still be able to share apps between all 3 devices, or will she have to rebuy certain apps that she and I will use?
    thanks
    Nick

I don't think I see my situation addressed. I have one mobile me account and a separate appleID for purchases.   I have 4 devices and my wife has two. Right now they are all using the same mobile me account to sync just the calendar and address book.
1.)  I want to add email syncing for my 4 devices and email syncing for my wife's two devices separately, but we want to sync and share the same calendar and address book.  Is this possible?
2.)  I also have 5 different calendars, one for work, one for home, one for... etc.  Is there a way to have different devices only sync certain calendars and not others or is it an all or nothing deal?
Thanks in advance for any tips!

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photosstream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
Generally speaking it is not a good idea to share an iCloud account between different people, it often results in contracts, calendars et cetera being deleted by others. Saying that however you can add secondary iCloud accounts to your devices at settings> mail, contacts, calendars. Secondary accounts do not have all the features of a primary account, but are often very useful. Because you can enable or disable each individual feature of an iCloud account, you can cover almost any situation by using secondary accounts.

  • File sharing between Macbook and iPhone 5s? AirDrop or bluetooth

Just purchased my first Macbook ever! I'm catching on quickly however I've run into a snag with file sharing between my other Apple devices.
How can I pair and send files between my MBA and iPhone 5s?
I've made the change in system preferences to allow file sharing, yet still pops up on my iPhone that my MBA doesn't support this.
Also I've enabled Airdrop on both devices yet I can't seem to get that to work as well. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I would love to be able to easily send pictures or documents from my MBA to my iPhone 5s via Airdrop and vice versa.
    Thanks in advance

Regarding AirDrop, note the quotation below from: iOS: Use AirDrop to wirelessly share content
You can't use AirDrop on iOS to share with OS X users, and OS X users can't use AirDrop to share with iOS devices.
The iPhone has limited bluetooth profiles and the only supportde connection between an iPhone and a computer is for tethering (sharing the iPhones cellular data connection). iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles

  • When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:
