Purchased a gift album for a friend in another country

I live in the US, and gifted an album for a friend. She wrote back saying she lives in Canada now, and therefore apparently can't redeem it.
What can we do?
In order of preference, I'd like to (1) have her get the music, (2) get a refund, or (3) somehow transfer the gift to another recipient, just so it doesn't go to waste. Is there a telephone number at Apple I can call?
Thanks

i was afraid of that
*From the itunes store terms of service*:
+to purchase from an iTunes Store in a particular country, you must have both a residential address and a billing address in that particular country. Items on any particular country's iTunes Store are available only for distribution to customers who use a credit card, debit card, iTunes Gift Certificate, or iTunes Gift Card issued in and for that country.+
... or perhaps she can simply change stores by clicking the flag icon at the bottom of the iTunes store...?
no, that won't work either. see above.
redeem it yourself or contact _*iTunes Store Customer Service*_ for a refund.

  • HT201209 Can I purchase iTunes gift cards for people in other countries to use?

Can I purchase iTunes gift cards for people in other countries to use? I have a brother that lives in Vietnam and I want to buy him a gift card that he can use there.  I've read the iTunes gift cards are country specific.

What you have read is correct; gift cards are country specific. So only if iTunes cards are issued in Vietnam, and if they are if you can find a retailer there that sells such cards and would accept an out-of-country credit card, would you be able to purchase a gift card for your brother. The same would apply to any other country.

  • Gift certificate for Canadian friend

I bought an itunes gift certificate for my friend in Canada and she can't use it. Turns out it's only valid for U.S. citizens. When I log on to itunes Canada and try to buy a gift cert there, it takes me to my U.S. account music store so I'm in the same boat.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

ANything bought with US money on the store can only be used in US store you may want to check this link out and email apple about this to see if you can get your money back and see how to send a gift to your canadian friend http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/giftcertificate/

  • I Live In US  Can I Purchase a Gift Card For Sombody In Canada

Simple enough question. Talked to the itunes support and they said got to the Apple Canada itunes store. I did and when I try and purchase a card it opens my itunes account in the US where you can only buy US applicable cards. I suspect this is a futile effort.
Would appreciate any suggestions on how I might do this.
    Mike

Dave, I understand the restriction, but follow the logic in this example (I hope it's logical. Feel free to punch holes in it). I think it could work (at least for e-mailed, virtual gift cards.)
We have a purchaser with an account in the iTunes store of country A, and a recipient who uses (or would use) the iTunes Store in country B.
    1) The purchaser (in country A) is restricted to buying only gift cards in the online iTunes store of country B. No music, movies, TV shows or anything else copyrighted. Only gift cards. This is merely a matter of programming. Right now, I can go onto the US iTunes store and listen to the 30-second samples of tracks, I can browse the music and movies. I just can't purchase them. Lift that restriction for gift cards. They are geniuses out there at Apple. I'm sure it can be done.
    2) In order for the gift card to be valid and redeemable, the purchaser must enter the e-mail address of the recipient's account - a valid, open account in the iTunes store of country B (meaning the recipient's credit card info is already known to Apple.) This way, Apple knows that the gift card purchased in iTunes store B will be redeemed by someone who has an account in iTunes store B, and therefore any music purchased would be from iTunes store B and the agreement between Apple and the record companies won't be violated. As explained in my last post, it would not be cross-border shopping, either, as the entire transaction (purchase & redemption of the gift card, and the downloading of any copyrighted material after the gift card has been redeemed) would take place in country B.
If the purchaser doesn't know the account address of the recipient, the purchaser can ask the recipient for it. I know, as it's a gift, it kind of ruins the surprise if you have to ask the recipient what their iTunes account address is, but I'd give up that surprise the first time around to be able to give gift cards to friends and family who live in other countries in the future.
    3) If the Recipient doesn't have an account yet, in order to redeem the gift card, the recipient has to open an account on iTunes store B, using the e-mail address the purchaser used to send the gift card. But in order to open the account, the recipient has to enter valid credit card info for purchases in country B's iTunes store. If the recipient can't do that, the gift card isn't valid and the purchaser just has wasted their money. No music was purchased, and therefore, again, the agreement between Apple and the record companies isn't broken.
Does this make sense? I think it's do-able.

  • How to purchase a gift card for EU iTunes Music Store

I want to send gift cards for the EU iTunes store to some friends in Holland.I have not been able to figure out how, if I reside in the US, I can buy a gift card for iTunes EU. Anyone out there able to point me to the information? Or is this too impossible to do?
    iBook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

As noted you need to have an account in the country that the iTS is associated with. There is no EU iTS.
You cannot gift from the iTS US to the iTS UK etc. even if your friends have an account in iTS UK. They need an account in the iTS that the gift is from. Unless you have accounts in all those countries iTS then you could gift but only to the same country.
This is due to the copyright holders not allowing cross border sales.

  • Can I Purchase iTunes Gift card for US in India

    Hello
I want to Giveaway iTunes Gift Card to my blog readers in US. I am resident of India.
Can I buy iTunes Gift Card(s) online with valid US postal addresse(s) of the winner (s) through my account?
    OR
What is the best way to gift iTunes cards to US resident while I am sitting in India?
    Waiting to hear from you
    Thanks

Sorry, but you cannot purchase iTunes gift cards from outside of the country in which they are sold by any means I know of, since such purchases generally require a US credit card. You can try contacting Apple's corporate marketing group, though, and ask if there's anything they can work out for you:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/corporatesales/
By the way, this forum is for questions about iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with questions like this if you ask in the general iTunes forums.
    Regards.

  • TS1292 I got a gift card for my friend but when he types the code it says invalid he's entered it correctly and we can't figure out why it won't redeem

The javadoc of createImage() states that "The return value may be null if the component is not displayable."
Not sure, but it may be that you need to call init() after this.setVisible(true).

  • Can I trade a gifted album for something else?

Someone gave me an album as a gift, and I already have that album. Will the iTunes store let me trade it for something else? I'm scared to click the "Redeem Now" button because I don't want to waste the gift.
    Thanks for the help.

If someone buys me something from a regular store and I already have it, that store usually will see the wisdom of allowing me to get something else of equal value. If Apple doesn't see the logic of that, perhaps a mild form of protest to them would be to accept the redundant download, then burn five copies and give them to five good people, undercutting Apple's sales prospectively five times. Hey, make it ten copies! It's a dumb stance, plain and simple.

  • Help! iTunes error message said try again later - instead I purchased 10 gift cards for my niece's christmas present!

Please help! I have written itunes support, who will get back when it is too late probably. My bank will not cancel my multiple mistaken purchases. It is not possible to call Apple about iTunes store purchases. My order does not show up on my account in iTunes, but 10 awaiting purchases shows up on my bank account. This makes my bank account empty! How can I cancel my order ASAP?

You should have been able to try resending the gift to his email address, and not buy another one. Resending gifts : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1541
He's checked the spam folder on the email account that you sent it to as well as the inbox ? You could try resending it, as per the instructions on the above link.
For the third card, you can either try resending that as well, or you can contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • TS1292 I have purchased a gift certificate for iTunes from my account and got it in email for my daughter.  we tried to enter the code in the sign-up page in iTunes and it says the cade is not valid?

I have the gift certificate I sent to My Daugther and it has two codes, one is PIN and the other one is a gift card number!  I tried entering each one and every time it says code not valid!
    Does anyone have a solution?

You have a phone that was returned as defective. How it got into the market again is anyone's guess, but the ONLY way to resolve it is to call Apple, and that may not resolve it either if it was pilfered by someone at an Apple repair center.

  • HT2736 I thought I purchased a gift card for my sister, however, I have not gotten a confirmation email. Can you tell me if it took.  They would not let me pruchase one on my ipad.  I guess too old!

I thought I had sent my sister a gift card before the holidays.  I did not get confirmation and nothing arrived.
So I tried to send a gift card to her from my ipad.  Would not let me.  Too old I guess.
So now I am, one more time, trying to send her a gift and I thought I got the job done, however, I still have not gotten a confirmation that it was sent.
Can you check to see if it is sent and or what the problem is.
    Thanks,
    Diane

And have you tried resending it (assuming that it worked the first time) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1541 ?

how do i get a code if it has been scrathced off ?? what do i do???

If this page doesn't help then you will need to try contacting iTunes support (you will need to give them as much of the serial number and activation code from the card as you can read) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes
